I don't. I look at it to see if a player is comfortable in their role if they are struggling. Beyond that, it is interesting to look at.

As for your team doing well defensively and losing by 3 goals, look at a few things. Did your goalie have a bad game? Alternately, do the game and player stats match up with that? Your team can still play well but be outdone by a few skilled players. Or the opposing team's special teams can get all of the goals effectively bypassing your team's D.

Bringing this one back from the dead because I think it is a real problem with an easy solution.
There are a couple of teams in my LIHL league that have top 2 lines filled with 65+ players. No way this is by design but rather “lucky” as others have posted. Problem being there are so few owners that the early birds get REALLY lucky and it is frustrating being a new owner and seeing there are stacked teams that you can’t compete with.
The solution in my mind is to make contracts scale closer with overall instead of however they are scaling now. Remove the “won’t sign with you right now” or at least loosen it up.
One guy has a 68 overall forward he signed this year for 33k which is INSANE. That player is firmly in the copper league skill wise and is playing for peanuts in the LIHL. He should be requesting 100-150k based on his skill alone (5-7% of CHL cap). 70 overall should be looking closer to 10% (215k) of CHL cap.
This way, you can grab one or two players outside of your league skill, but will break the bank if you sign too many. You have to be more STRATEGIC and less “lucky”. New owners can target one or two great players to build around or go for depth with proper league skill levels.

Half question/Half thinking out loud... and this just dawned on me... do you think when training is set to Offensive or Defensive that it factors in mostly Tactics - and when the training is set to General it factors in mostly player Role?

    That would be interesting.

Finally had a chance to sift through all the jerseys.  There's a lot of good ones, so I'll just mention my absolute favorites.

    GHL
    - Scandinavia Steelers - something about the color combination just pops and the tiny bit of orange on the logo matches the sleeves.

    SHL
    - Rocky Mountain House Owls - color scheme reminds me of Boston College
    - Canuck Red Dragons - love the color combo

    BHL
    - Summertown Six Pack - this is just brilliant. Not so much the jersey itself, but probably my favorite team name + logo

    CHL
    - Birnamwood Silver Bullets - LOL - loving the "whatever" vibe here

    IHL
    - Coulter Wild Fire - great color/logo combo

    LIHL
    - Fillmore Hill Cats - another good color/logo combo
    - Continental Steel
    - Goldville Knights

*Honorable mention to about 40 others.

Ohh.. didn't notice this thread here for a while.

Well thanks to Matt's pointers, I redesigned the jersey to a much darker color scheme, abandoning the orange completely. https://gameplanhockey.com/team?gpid=49-A

My preferred jerseys since I've gone through them all...

GHL: Deferiet Leopards (clean and distinctive jersey), Brass Castle Berzerkers and Missisauga Stealheads (both nice and easy to recognize)

SHL: Crabtree Defenders, Rocky Mountain House Owls (I don't mind bright if it's just stylish enough)

BHL: Summertown Sixpack (just because it's funny, yet kinda cool), Cape Girardeau Legends (Crisp and nice)

CHL: Finnegan Serpents (One of the few ones where highlight works better than shadow), Dustin White Devils (Cool in its simplicity)

IHL: Butte City Battlers (This league has more meh shirts than any other.. not sure if it's the high amount of computer managers maybe... didn't really check)

LIHL: Fillmore Hillcats, Camden Nighthawks, Torrington Thunderbolts, Ripon Scorpions (nicely distinctive color scheme and easily recognizable), Gravenhurst Hounds (the cool is here), Natashquan Assassins (just like this one for some reason), Goldville Knights (really nice and neat jersey), Harrow Lynx (simply because I think I know where the idea of this shirt comes from),

Some people like brighter, some darker and some in between.. I was looking at the jerseys and trying to think would I recognize one later. This is kind of moot as well since you tend to remember your worst/best rivalries in any case. A lot of very nice ones, but also a lot of jerseys that I think the manager just didn't care enough to put in the effort.

EDIT: I'm not big on New York Rangers, but as Matt pointed out on chat, the color scheme is not really widely represented, so I decided to run with it while it's still early. If the away jersey ever sees daylight, and I'm going to bug Anders about it until it does, I think using white base color with red highlights spiced with blue numbers and collar will fit quite nicely.

Edit 2: ET2018, your jersey looks good, but it doesn't really make me go ooooh wow! My hometown team used grey jerseys at one point and it's just really doesn't kick me as a main color. I'm just one opinion though. It's very clean and crisp, so if I learn to hate your team enough, I'm sure it's as great of a color choice as any.

Edit 3: Pullman T-Birds, I got you marked as an all time enemy. You took my old logo before I got here! Can't wait to meet you on ice. Fairplay tactic = ridiculously and overly violent!

now i understand the idea behind making players that are "cocky" and "arrogant" seem like a bad thing, and if you have a lot of these players, that would be a detriment to the dressing room chemistry, and this suggestion would sort of make having a lot of those players a positive, but here goes.

Not sure if a suggestion is even the proper term, but more of an observation. My team is bad, and they have been doing bad, and I ran a lot of players through my team this season, so there are a lot of players that have been sat for long periods of time. I get that this hurts their confidence and I understand the reasoning behind this in the game. But I have players that are "cocky" and "arrogant" who are "anxious" or "uncomfortable", wouldn't these players always have high confidence? isn't that what being cocky or arrogant is? always thinking your hot stuff, which means they would have little issues in the confidence department.

Now, if you changed it so that "cocky" and "arrogant" players were always confident, or at least had a confidence floor of "good", this would mean that bringing in those types of players would be a positive because they would always play at a higher level than someone who is the same skill level but has "uncomfortable" or "anxious" confidence. So I can understand that it sort of defeats the purpose of having personality issues being bad for a team. But if you could find a balance between them always being confident but they hurt the team chemistry enough that it's not worth it, etc, it may work. Or you could leave it as is, and that would be fine. As stated, not really a suggestion, just a funny observation.

Although I like creative names, they aren't often easy to remember.  I suggest instead maybe naming each league by a country or region?  Country would be obvious (Sweden, Germany, France, United States...) but regional could be (Europe, North America, etc.) or even more basic and one I like better (Northern, Eastern, Southern, etc.).  Could even go into North Eastern, South Western, etc.

SUGGESTION....I read some where that you will have some new Icons / logos for our teams jersey. Awesome!  I would like to suggest that along with Icons / Logos  should be a choice of letters. Like a stylized  B  that the Bruins use , the C for Calgary , C on the Vancouver Canucks, the old D in Detroit.   I think it should help out if we can not find an appropriate logo to match our team name.  I never could find a good logo for my team jersey when I was called The Goldville Groove.  I would not have had a problem if I had a G  as a logo.  Anyway.. just a thought!

    This is what I get...
Do you want to release center Rohan Hewitt? If you proceed half his salary $18 500 will be locked for the remainder of his contract (2 seasons) before being freed under the salary cap.

What I would like to see is.
Releasing center Rohn Hewitt  will cost you half his salary $18 500 will be locked for the remainder of his contract (2 seasons) before being freed under the salary cap.  Your team will now have  $487.650  this season  and  - 35,000  next season.

Something like that.   OR   have an undo last move button. So if do cut the player, and it does not look right I could undo the last cut and keep the player and contract.

So we're now finally ready to announce a release date.
Game Plan Hockey Manager 2.0 - March 1st 2019  This might be further ahead than most of you expected and there's a couple of reasons for this.  First, we simply don't want to make any promises that we can't hold. We have postponed the announcement of a release date for way too long now. I will get into the reasons for this further down if you're interested.  Second, we want to get this right. In all ways possible. We still have things on our todo list but we will also use the extra time to correct some of the flaws that have been subject for several discussions here on the forum. I'm thinking of the goalie endurance issue as one example.  So here's what's going to happen.  About a week before the release date all current managers will be able to sign up and set up their current teams and choose game world. This way you will get the privilege to sign up and reserve your team name and league level before new managers find their way into the game. I know I mentioned an automatic setup way back, but you will have to create a new team and choose a game world. But since you're getting a head start before everyone else you should be able to find your old team name and mascot when you create your team. If there's any conflict we will try to help everyone out in the very best way we can.  All manager history will be kept and still displayed on your manager page but manager reputation will be reset in order to get an equal start for all managers from day 1. But your current manager reputation and league level will still decide what league levels you will able to choose from when you sign up. The manager reputation are also being reworked but I will reveal more regarding this later on.  From the start there will be three game worlds available. One of each speed; Slow, Normal and Fast. Each game world can host 168 managers. And remember that you will be able to manage two teams per account, no need to sign up or pay twice.  And regardless of what we've said earlier you won't have to enter your credit card information when you sign up if you don't like. You can start your 30 day trial without any credit card. But you will in this case be restricted from making any player transactions. This is to prevent players setting up shadow accounts for cheating purposes. But this will give you the opportunity to get back into the game and try things out before making up your mind. Once you've decided you can easily set up a subscription and the restrictions will be lifted. You will continue your trial and have the possibility to cancel your subscription before being charged. And remember that all who sign up within the first month will get the special price of only $1.99 per month. This includes all features and two teams. More regarding subscription plans will be released soon.  That was the important stuff. But if you're interested to read some more about why things are delayed you are welcome to continue reading. I will try to not make too many excuses but I will instead try to explain what I feel have gone wrong since we first announced this big release close to a year ago.  In the beginning of last year we announced that we were going to make a big new release of the game sometime during the fall 2018. At that time I felt really confident that things would be ready by then. I mean, I had more than 6 months - what could go wrong? I remember at some point even thinking things would be ready by the summer. =)  I work as a developer and I'm doing estimates on a daily basis. So how come it's so difficult making estimates for this game? I've been giving this a lot of thought and I actually think I've come up with some kind of answer. As a developer you estimate how many hours, days or weeks something takes to develop. This is hard enough and many times you get things wrong. But I don't think this have been the case in this game. I've got most estimates right for this game when it came to the amount of work required. But I have not been able to estimate how many hours I can put into this game every week. Not by far. In my ordinary work I know I work approx 40 hours each week. If I estimate a task to 80 hours I know I'll be finished sometime in two-three weeks time. But when developing this game it's been impossible to estimate how many hours I can spend from week to week. Some weeks I've been able to put in 10-15 hours. Others only 2-4 hours. Remember that we're only two guys with full time jobs and families doing this on our spare time alone. We have thought about hiring more people in order to get things ready in time but that would have meant that we would have to charge even a higher price right from the beginning. Doing things on our own we have been able to keep the price down and if things turn out for the good later on, we can put more hours in and in the long run even hire some more people. Hopefully this wasn't too much of an excuse but instead it shed some light over what has been going on. One thing is for sure - the release is coming and we're working as hard as we possibly can. We love this game and we want to make it great together with all of you!  Thanks for sticking around and being patient!  /Anders
