  1. One was old (37 years old,. ratings declining) and one was a prospect in his mid 20s. Nice try though. Wasn't a CPU trade either.
  2. This appears to be an ongoing issue in Lumber. Managers need to start stepping up and reporting others for abusing CPU teams in trades. It's really starting to get annoying. This is not acceptable - Terrace Hornets: A 97 overall (33 years old, top line center)A 94 overall (28 years old, second line forward) CPU team (Falconbridge Valley Dogs) A 84 overall (useless in GHL)A 79 overall (useless in GHL)Two 3rd round picks (nearly useless)A 1st round pick (only balanced thing in this trade)
  3. I think the claim has disappeared. Should be fine now
  4. I'm having a similar isue. After another player undercut me for a waiver claim on a CPU team by trading for that player, my waiver claim still counts against my salary cap. Sad!
  5. On top of all of that, it appears the waiver claim still counts against my salary cap...so that's a two-fer for this shady player.
  6. And as predicted, this manager has stolen a player that I claimed on waivers...without participating in that process. Really disappointed this is a flaw in the game that can be exploited by shady managers like this guy. I'm pissed. He went to the other team in a trade for a 2nd round GHL pick...this was a 94 overall player that could have helped me in the GHL next season. I offered several high value players, inlcuding at least two 90+ overall players in one trade. Again, I lost a waiver claim because a manager decided to undercut me with this ridiculous trade.....
  7. Not to mention if they were trying to trade for him....
  8. If you lay a claim on a CPU player placed on waivers, other teams shouldn't be able to undercut you by trading for him. This is a dirty tactic and is disrespectful of what should be a fair process in the game (waivers). There's currently a manager in Lumber that is trying to do this, and I find it blatantly disrespectful and pretty insulting. The ability to trade for waivered players should be removed if someone has a claim on him, especially if they are on a CPU team. This would make things a lot more fair and make things a lot harder for game-obsessed managers looking to undercut other players with unfair game tactics.
  9. That would be a nice addition as well. I just think a few more tactical options would add some variety. It's like having a soccer game but only having four formations or systems to choose from, when there is nearly 100 formation types and tactical approaches in the modern game. I know hockey is a bit different, but you still see more variety in international hockey and the NHL.
  10. Speaking of roles, I think the "pest" role should be added. Not as risky as an enforcer, and more of a shut-down plyer than a grinder.
  11. Teams that promote and survive the relegation playoffs have a lottery for the top 4 picks in each round.
  12. I recall having a similar issue when I promoted to the SHL. Definitely seems like a bug.
  13. I thought manages were removed if they've been on holiday for 9 days?
  14. Yeah, sometimes contract demands can be a little out of control. Compared to the current salary cap levels, they should be nerfed a bit (or salary caps slightly raised).
  15. I'm having the same issue in Lumber I think.
  16. I don't think it's the fault of any manager that league overalls are highly inflated compared to what the game designers intended. It appears Howtizer has the same problem Lumber has in terms of GHL teams being basically mostly NHL all-star teams with 94-99 overall players. When teams are that loaded and roll out three or four scoring lines, it's basically a dice roll on which team wins. I think the intent was for GHL leagues to be 80-85 or 85-90 overall mainly. Not sure if that will ever be fixed or corrected due to the bugged player development, but hopefully things even out within the next calendar year.

I'm pretty happy with how my team is perfomring right now. I was worried after the first handful of games, but things seem to coming together. Not sure if I'll push hard enough for a promotion challenge, but a top 4 finish wouldn't be so bad.

Figured I would make another thread to facilitate discussion more here....hopefully people start posting more often. How's your team doing? I've gotten off to a good start thankfully after a shaky few games. Hopefully my team can keep up their winning streak.

Clapp (96 overall, goalie) is on the tradeblock. In return, I am looking for a 90+ goalie and/or a good 1st or 2nd liner forward/center. I'm open to discussing other potential offers, just send me a PM in the game. Thanks.
  20. Unless there are plans to create more than one, I don't think 32 teams will be enough.
  21. You could always have consolation tournaments for teams that didn't make the playoffs for a secondary-level trophy to keep people engaged (the Gold Cup could be the main trophy, and the silver shield could be the secodnary trophy)....or something like that. Not a conventional idea when you think of NA-style hockey...but it might be a good way to keep people interested....either that or introduce NA-style game worlds when national teams are ready.
  22. How would a NA-style world work? The teams would be more limited I imagine, unless you decide to go with 64 teams have have a 32-team playoff. That would be pretty sweet.
  23. I'm curious about this as well....I think Silver AAHL 2 is comparable to the IHL, and the AAHL is BHL.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - The Fairbanks Union added a ninth straight win with a key victory over the Mississauga Mountain Hawks at the Erin Mills Twin Arena. Led by defenseman David Kucer and veteran goalie Robbie Clapp, the Union ensured they shut down the Mountain Hawks early, only allowing one goal. Jack Andrews scored the opening goal in the 1st period, followed by Vilho Tuomela three minutes and thirty seconds later. For the Mountain Hawks, Elvis Yung scored the lone power play goal in the 2nd period. "We finished a crucial stretch of games quite strongly," said Robbie Clapp. "We knew we needed to secure some victories against Mississauga and Terrace, as well as Victoria. We just need to stay focused and get into the promotion zone." The Fairbanks Union, playing their innagural season in Fairbanks, Alaska at the Big Dipper Ice Arena, are looking to secure their second straight promotion, and their third in four years after moving from Miami, Ohio and having a brief stint in Prince Rupert, Canada. "I'm pretty proud of these guys," added Fairbanks' coach Eric T. "They keep fighting and finding ways to win. We haven't deviated away from our identity despite some early challenges, and that's good." The Union have earned a reputation for a hard-hitting, fast-paced style and have received condemnations from opposing fans and media. After their previous victory over the Terrace Hornets at the Big Dipper Ice Arena, a Terrace media writer called the Union "a bunch of hoodlums and thugs that happen to call themselves hockey players." The game was notable for a fight towards the end of the game, which saw Terrace's star center, Ronald Brokaw, bloodied and agitated by Union defenseman Vincenc Chovan. "I'm pretty proud of those names,' said Winston Guin, who was a particular target. "They can call us whatever they want. I just hope they call us victors too at the end of the game."
  25. Wins against the team you are tied with should also factor in perhaps, maybe in a future update?
