    S40 General chat

Looks like you are doing very well for yourself. Interesting choice of tactics by using all powerforwards too.
  2. I never used the word cheating here, just questionable and exploitative. I don't think Lee Roy is a cheater, but he certainly knows how to play the system....which again, is unfair.
  3. Didn't this forum make a big fuss about exploiting CPU trades before? It just seems unfair to me to get a prospect like that for basically nothing.
  4. I think the big issue here is that you didn't include a GHL 1st rounder.
  5. Aannddd the manager was involved in another explotative trade today, where he trade basically a bunch of 2nd and 3rd round picks for the 2nd overall from last season's draft. This is starting to get ridiculous. Hopefully the other GHL managers are reporting him...
  6. The automatic ban thing needs some revamping. At the very least, there should be human review involved.
  7. You could always ask him to stop politely. Would probably make trades in the future more difficult with that manager though.
  8. I'm not sure such a trade should go through even if the player is on waivers, but that's my two cents. My main concerns were with the other trades. I guess it's hard to complain much since the trades involved two humans, but some of them were pretty unfair. It's just questionabe ethics.
  9. Well, you are in Lumber too, so you may know whcih team I am talking about.

    S14 Trade Block

Willing to part with my 2nd and 3rd round picks for a decent defender, preferably one with good defense, spirit, and physicality. Size would be a plus. I have a few free agent offers still pending so messae me first if you are interested and I'll clear some cap space.
  11. I haven't been paying attention, but some of the trades just feel one sided to me. That's all.
  12. There seems to be a string of recent "questionable" trades in the Lumber GHL, particulary from one manager. I use "questionable" in quotations because while these trades are primarily exploitative/one sided, they are with human managers mostly...but there was one trade where the guy sent a 3rd round BHL pick for a 90 rated player from a CPU SHL team...WTF? All is fair in love and war and all, but jeez...This guy now has an army of draft picks, including several first round picks.
  13. I have a feeling my team will be languishing at the bottom of the power rankings all season...
  14. There should be a way to cancel friendlies your team has already scheduled, especially if you take over a team in the pre-season that already scheduled them. Getting blasted does nothing for your team's confidence, especially if you are stuck with a team that doesn't have enough skaters available. There's probably other reasons why you would want to cancel a friendly of course, such as deciding you want to move around more players.

    Manager interaction

Thanks for the heads up! I'm actually going to take over an LIHL team. Something less stressful for now.

    Manager interaction

Yeah, people need to enage others more. Ignoring trade offers/PMs is bad form. I don't mind rejecting a trade without a message back as I assume if the manager is really interested, he'll send me a message. But at least respond to PMs.

    Manager interaction

I had a good relationship with an SHL manager last season, but he left. I tried messaging several managers for trades, but again, no response. People sticking to their guns I guess.

    Manager interaction

I've approached several human managers with trade offers in the past few days, and none of them are responsive.
  19. Is it just me or do managers rarely talk or engage with others in this game world? Seems like everyone ignores trade offers. It's probably easier to trade with a computer here....
  20. Are there any plans to add more tactics to the game? The current four appear to be ordered from simplest to more complex, and with the game engine, the first two don't seem to be very used often...at least in my game world. Puck possession and transition rush seem to dominate. I'm thinking of something like the EA NHL series or Hockey Franchise Manager where there are more diverse systems/tactics to choose from. For example, on offense - Behind the net, Tarasov system, Triangle, hound the puck, Brooks system, etc...or on defense - 1-3-1, 1-2-2 red, 1-2-2 blue, and so on. I think having more diverse tactics to choose from would make tactics and strategy more challenging and flexible for game worlds.
  21. I definitely think promotion should have more of a soccer logic as the OP pointed out. The current system seems unfair.
  22. I guess you think Dump and Chase works better? I've been told transition rush would work and I've gotten good results with it (3-1 record).
  23. I'm not sure if I reading my stats correctly. Most of my forwards, centers, and defensemen have average to good skating ratings. Other areas I have the most green in are puck handling, defense, and physicality it seems. Passing is decent, but not as many "green" players as the other categories. Would this equal a team more suited for transition rushes or does puck posession still work here? Edit - Screenshots:
  24. So, I'm relatively new to this game and just starting a season in Game World Lumber (BHL). My team is the Prince Rupert Union. I've been playing with a Puck Possession/Left-Wing Lock strategy but I think that has delivered some mixed results. I entered late last season in the IHL so my tactics were not responsible for my team's promotion I suppose. I'm frustrated with the defensive tactics and I have a hard time understanding them. Any ideas? I'm also not sure if puck possession is the strategy most suited for my team at the moment.
