I probably wouldn't sign up as I like the promotion system and don't have an infinite amount of time. My conference suggestion is that maybe have the two worst teams in each division gets reshuffled in their divisions. I don't think basing the divisions around actual locations would work considering how often teams are moved around.

    Hiya guys,

I'm not sure if this has already been suggested...didn't really check through the threads.

Would it be possible to have a new World created that runs on the "North-American" type of Leagues? So, a World without the promotions/relegations, like the NHL? Not sure how much work would be required to make this happen, but it'd be pretty cool to start simultaneously with the affiliate teams update(NHL/AHL).

    1 League -> 2 Conferences -> 4 divisions -> 30(or more) teams total?

You could even forget the whole Conference/Division thing at the beginning tbh...

    What do you guys think?

I think it'd garner quite a bit of interest from the current GMs and any new guys coming in....I suppose one problem would be the World filling up quicker due to less teams?

The game analysis after each game is now available on UAT. You'll find the game analysis in the assistant's report available after each game. (Game page -> Action menu -> Assistant's report).

Note! There have been quite many advice texts to write so many of them have been written in haste. Therefore you might find some pretty bad english here and there. If you find any texts that you feel could be improved. Please let me know.

Yeah, essentially but also include a drop down option that allows the player stats for the entire team to show different time frames rather than just the entire season

Yes, but taking a free player from the losing team just doesn't happen outside of things such as card games. If you badly want a reward, make it something that an actual hockey team would be competing for such as a cash prize or trophy. In my opinion, the format doesn't need any award, it's preseason and in reality, is more so used to get a better sense of a team's players and chemistry.

About 10 days ago I started up a new team in clapper, and I timed it so I got the computer team relegated from the SHL.

The team had 5 players (not including prospects).

I basically had to sign a new team, and for some reason in the BHL I had $800,000 retained salary cap penalties.

I had to go on a budget for this team, and I ended up signing about 15 players "the last minute before the game" because people refused to sign with me, even for the money that they demanded.

After losing my season opener, I had a full squad ready for the second game, though not as good as I expected.

So my simple suggestion is: increase the length of the preseason.

Then I figured, some people wouldn't like a longer preseason, and then I thought preseason tournaments would be fantastic.

No seeding, I thought of a format like this:

    BHL Team v FIHL Team

    BHL Team v SEHL Team

    BHL Team v SHHL Team

    BHL Team v CZHL Team

    How it would work:

Note: Preseason would increase by 3 days for the tournaments, making preseason and silly season add up to 9 days.

    1) The game would randomly generate groups of 4 foreign league teams for every single league level (GHL-LIHL), which would make for 20 groups.

    2) Human controlled teams will be offered during silly season to participate in a preseason tournament.

    3) Once the user accepts, they are placed into a random group of both foreign and same league level teams (i.e. BHL team plays against other BHL level teams and random FIHL-CZHL squads).

    4) Spanning 3 days, teams will compete to win the preseason tournament, with the focus on improving players, much like in normal preseason games.

(I'm not sure if playoff games better develop players, but these games could, due to the games being in single knockout tournament form)

    5) If the winning team is from the GHL-LIHL, they receive some sort of incentive.

The incentive could be a few things, but what I had in mind is the team is being able to select a player from a losing foreign team.

    A Brief Synopsis

Players are invited to participate in annual preseason tournaments.

Four GHL-LIHL teams will match up against four foreign teams in a single knockout, no seed tournament (no round robin).

Should a human manager win, they will be rewarded an incentive for their efforts and "European exposure". As in, Swiss hockey team rewards BHL team with a player because they grew the game in Switzerland.

What this would do for GPHM

    1. Help player confidence and team evaluation: With a possible 6 preseason games that could be played, player confidence and ability will be given an excellent chance to improve, as well as give the manager more time to figure out what lineup to ice come season opener.

    2. Increase competition: With the stakes high right at the season to win a player (or another incentive), teams will be itching to get their player development, team spirit, team knowledge, and lineup right, even before a meaningful game is played.

    3. Increase player enjoyment: The game is good, but lacks a realism of having the foreign teams serve any purpose. People would like to play the game more because of a cool new, original feature that everyone is sure to like for the reasons stated above.

    Thoughts?

    I like it too.

Especially considering the fact there seem to be a few bugs with the attribute graph meters. Sometimes a player improves and you won't get a message. Other times a player's overall rating goes up, but the graph doesn't show improvement.
I've even had players improve in a season, but the player's history graph only went up to the previous season (improve in season 15, only show data up to season 14).

So another look at this system won't hurt

Since everyone in clapper is talking about player progression, I'm going to suggest a minor upgrade to the emails you receive when a player improves/declines.

A current example (my team's latest player to improve):

    ASSISTANT IMPRESSED BY REMY MERCURIO
Your assistant is happy to let you know that your defender Remy Mercurio has really improved lately.

This message left me happy, yet unsatisfied.
This email is missing a crucial convenient touch: which attributes improved?

So I went and checked. Defense went up from 79 to 80.
Not only that, but about 20 days before, other stats also improved, but I had no indication of this because my assistant did not give me an email. PuckHandling went up from 68 to 69, and Physical went up from 72 to 73. So what I'm proposing is: Tell us right in the email what improved/declined. Here's an example using the same player on my team, with it being day 31 on the season:    ASSISTANT IMPRESSED BY REMY MERCURIOYour assistant is happy to let you know that your defender Remy Mercurio has really improved lately.
The following attributes have shown growth:
Defense: Improved from 79 to 80 on Day 31
PuckHandling: Improved from 68 to 69 on Day 16
Physical: Improved from 72 to 73 on Day 16

Let me know what you guys think!

I've been thinking recently when trying to put together some trades, it would be great to be able to see a trade history with the team your making an offer to, maybe displaying what trades you have offered them in the past and if it was accepted/rejected. I've found myself occasionally offering a trade that I've previously offered before

Also, if players on your trade block match the transfer needs of another team. Would it be a good idea to have these teams displayed somewhere as 'trade partners'?

Makes it much easier then going to each team trying to find a match for a player you are looking to move

I just played a team that changed names between when the game was played and when the box score was posted, resulting in the first star being from the old team and second and third the new team.

    So that's a fun one.

I know one of the attractive parts of the game is being able to move a team you're freshly taking over... but it's kind of getting a bit much when the face of the league is constantly changing because sometimes they switch owners many times over the course of one season.

Is there any way we could maybe 'lock' a team's city location for a season? For example, if an owner takes over midseason, would it be possible to make them required to either keep the team's name or city 'locked' until the start of the next season, where they'd be prompted to allow a one-time name/location change?

I keep feeling like I'm losing track of which teams are which, with mascots, names, and cities changing constantly.

At the same time, I do like the idea of being able to personalize teams, but... the face of BHL leagues is changing so much.

I also like the idea.  To prohibit Game World Moderator abuse, there could be a system of checks and balances.

For example, the Mitts Mod may only be able to suspend managers/revert trades in Mitts, but he can view suspensions/reverts in other worlds.  If something smells fishy, the Mods can have a discussion.  Communication is key.  Make the Moderators part of a group where they can communicate with each other, either on the forum or in the game.  Anders would have the final say.

Anders, that actually sound really good - these votes and Moderators. I like the idea - that the Moderator will have the rights to revert a trade, but only if some number of users report this trade. That might work.

In the game worlds like they are divided now, it will be impossible to build a game master group, it would have to be user with access to all the worlds to be a real game-master.

Thanks for all your feedback! And sorry for not being so active in these kind of questions. I'll try to do better.

Regarding game masters: I worry that not all game worlds actually has enough committed managers to carry that responsibility. I also worry about the possible abuse from these game masters. But maybe there is a way to solve this.

What do you guys think of the following scenario?

A couple of trusted mangers will get the role of Game World Moderators who then has the rights to revert trades and suspend other managers. But they will only have that right if the manager in question has gotten enough Cheater votes or Bad trade votes. The latter will then be a new feature allowing managers to down vote trades that they feel are bad or abusive. If no game world moderators exist (or responds) a message will be sent to me when a manager gotten enough votes. That way I can revert the trades or suspend managers.

Please feel free to comment or make other suggestions!

    It varies by league.

    LIHL/IHL/BHL/SHL
    - Top 2 teams automatically promote.
    - Teams ranked 3-6 have a playoff against each other (3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5).  Winner of each series enters a playoff against the teams ranked 13th and 14th in the higher league.  If the lower league team wins the playoff against the higher league team, the lower league team is promoted and the higher league team is relegated.  If the higher league team wins, both teams will stay in their respective leagues.
    - Teams ranked 7-12 have a playoff just for fun, no relegation/promotion on the line.
    - Teams ranked 15-16 automatically relegate.

    Example of the promotion/relegation playoffs:
LIHL #3 seed beats the #6 seed and faces IHL #14 seed.  LIHL #3 seed beats IHL #14 seed.  LIHL #3 is promoted, IHL #14 is relegated.

    GHL
    - Top 8 teams have a playoff to crown the league champion.
    - Teams ranked 9-12 do not have a playoff but are safe from relegation.
    - Team ranked 13-14 will face the winners of the 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5 playoffs in the SHL to determine promotion/relegation (as highlighted above).
    - Teams ranked 15-16 automatically relegate to SHL.

Each playoff round is a best of three.

I was thinking about a way to add more realism to each team, being able to name your home arena.

I kind of appreciate the fact that every team is on a level playing field in terms of finances, fan base, ticket prices, etc.  For example, selling more tickets doesn't get you more payroll.  Maybe that would be fun to look into down the road, but for now, each team should be proud of their home arena and, at the very least, be able to name it.
