I think the solution might be to have GHL/SHL (at least) full of active teams with no room for CPU teams that people can take advantage of. If you increase value of draft picks, it will make trades between humans more complicated as you would have to fill the trade bar somehow to get a pick from someone. Try to get some friends here and fill your leagues with active managers, then we do not have to take gentleman agreements or ask Anders to change the rules. The only other solution is to lock CPU trades (CPU teams and users on vacation) to only other CPU teams - that still makes possible for CPU to trade if the team is in bad shape (a lot of injuries etc.), but prevent of exploiting them by humans.

It's only 10 % of the season (6 games out of 60)... wait a bit, it will turn around.

It depends if The King has mercenary trait or not But good point, I guess. Although you can't really compare it to the NHL, this game has different cap, different players and contracts (we do not have 800k entry level contracts yet, for example) and different demands. I'm not sure, how much are other top goalies asking for resign, but Bublik will be second in salary once he agrees to the new contract (and getting him form 7.6M asking to 6.4M signed is good deal, I guess) - 200k behind Seiter who is mercenary (Bublik is individualist). But yeah, it sounds fair regarding his pedigree. Twice golden cup winner, twice best GAA, twice most SO, once best %SV in the season. Now he should start show something for the money. 5.16 GAA and .789 %SV is not something you would like to see from top goalie on a top team.

Ok, we are turning this thread into another discussion But I think it is interesting. Actually regarding the cap - I think it might be good idea to increase the cap a bit each season, just like the NHL. You see that in season 1, top players are just over 80. Now in season 5 top players are around 90 and in season 10 it will be around or over 95 (at least that is what it was in UAT) - that means you sign all the top players, even mercenaries in the beginning of the world, but you are basically screwed around season 10, when your collection of young natural talents hits their prime age. Obviously you should not be able to sign them all and there should be spread of stars around more teams - so the increase in cap must be small and it should stop at some point. And we did not had that many 10+ goals games. Although in the last round at least Megginson (G) preformed very well

I understand your point, but basically I'm unhappy about the sudden rise, not the 7M in general. Although if we are now talking about NHL, you have to also see, that top goalie (maybe not best in league, but close enough) for more than 7M is not very realistic. In NHL you have right now salary cap of 71.4M. Top goalies have contract between 6.1M (Holtby) and 8.5M (Lundqvist) - that 8.5 % to 11.9 % of the team salary cap. 7.6M Bublik is asking is 12.6 % and he is not even Mercenary greed trait. That is more than Lundqvist, who is in RL quite ahead of other goalies (second Bob is just above 10 % of the salary cap and in that case I think Bublik is more likely as Bob/Rinne then as Lundy). If Bublik asked me 4-5M when he was FA and if he would be asking now for 6M-6.5M, I would be fine with it. But to get from 3.4M to 4.x in 2 seasons and then jump to 7.6M is just wrong. To be honest, I can sign him and still have enough money for next seasons. I'm not on the edge yet... I won the cup last season with over 10M free under the cap. I have now 5.5M free with the core signed for more years and with some players on the bench that are not essential to my team ( I like to have enough backup depth as injuries happen). But I'm looking forward and I want to avoid overpaying some players. I have young team and I want to keep them till their primes. Just look at the top goalies in Biscuit, they are all performing quite badly (because they let many goals in) - so far only Ortiz was fine. edit: looks like I'm able to sign Bublik for less than expected - 6.39M (maybe after the shitty performance he realized he is not that valuable). That is quite fine, so I will do that. It is still over 10 % salary cap, but that is ok for one of the top4 goalies. Also regarding the budget issues, I think many teams will face that - all PO teams sooner or later imho. That is a fact I learned from lightning speed UAT - if you want to be top team in future, you will soon have to make a team with top line and def above overall 90, goalie above 90 (and each next line -2 or -3 to that). That is something hard to fit into 60M cap. Why do you think I'm looking for green greed trait players... that is the only solution. Even one mercenary in your top line will basically ruin your chances for Cup in season 10 or so.

I think it matters as that is quite big issue for core players, your superstars. You can get them from a trade for a lot and then after 3 seasons they will ruin you. So you let them go and they will ask for 2M less elsewhere. Basically that happened to French Gulch with Bublik. And it looks like the same with me. I can try to let him go and offer him something in the first day of FA - but that is big risk, especially with the lack of star goalies around. I understand that it can happen in RL - the player is not happy in your team and after he is FA, he might sign with team he likes but for less money. But it is not very common, I guess.

I agree that top players and top goalies especially should ask for more. Although I do not like the way that salary demands evolve: I signed Bublik on season 3 with salary of $3 375 000 after he was expensive for French Gulch (I talked to him that time and before FA he was asking for much more). Next year it was $4 290 000, next year $4 420 000 and now jump to 7.6M (I think I can sign him for something like 6.7M, but that is still steep increase to previous season). A little bit of off-topic - the goalie looks a bit out of his play since the Golden Cup celebration He started all 3 pre-season games and now also first league game. He was pulled out 3 times! And in pre-season I have chosen easier teams His performance was 50-49-48-48. WTF? His best %SV was 84 % (but also 60 %)... And I was thinking that nobody can be worse than Varlamov who made similar numbers for a while this season in NHL (I drafted him in my fantasy league, unfortunately)

Kiss is quite expensive for me - as I won the cup last season, some of the players are asking ridiculous money for re-sign. My top LW is signed, but I'm waiting for my goalie. He is asking for 7.6M. I know he is top goalie, but that is too much. But I'm not sure if somebody would like to trade him for cheaper option.

Yeah, I know. I haven't checked the exact number, but now I'm looking at the list and it is really under 10 players that I would be interested in... some of them are untouchable. And half of them are owned by Deadwood I should have contact them directly, but it is not bad to start the thread and maybe somebody else might offer me something.

I started season 1 in SHL and promoted after it directly. The 2 seasons on GHL I was 6th and 4th, made it to Playoff 2 and Playoff 3, so this time I hope for another improvement: end the season 2nd (ok, I take 1st or 3rd, too) and make it to the playoff final. My team is basically set. I would love to make some improvements, but the FA market is already empty for my level (nothing much at the start anyway) and it is hard to make any trades that suits me.

West Chicago Protons (GHL) in here... I'm looking for top players, mainly forwards, but some defense is also wanted. I'm looking for improvement of my team, so I can either give you worse player with some room for improvement or 2 players for one. I have some on trade block, so have a look. But we can discuss other players, but as I said - I'm looking for top players, over 80 in overall. I have plenty of high-70 or 80 players, so no interested in here.

Hey, I'm the manager of West Chicago Protons in GHL. We are currently 9th, but I hope to break into top8 soon. There is nothing in the FA, so I can't improve and training is very slow for my players. I hope you guys will sign some of the top FA goalies, so the pool is filled with some decent players we can sign. I already signed one form top5 goalies from FA, although I don't need him.

Yes, it did. My question was mainly because I am about to promote to higher league, but I don't have enough money under the cap to sign some players in the last year of their contracts. I wanted to know how much time I have to make some space for them and if they become FA before or after my salary cap will increase due to the promoting to higher league...

It would be good to have some time table until when I can sign extension before player in last year of contract turn into FA.

Very nice and already in great progress, Anders! I like the idea, but here some thoughts: - can multiple players be traded? If yes, there still might be cheating since 3 mediocre players signed yesterday from FA can be traded for one great player. Still, I think 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trades should be possible and you can have one more thing against cheaters - the signed FA cannot by traded until the following season. - trades player for player are fine, but the game needs more. For example I'm close to delegation and I have player the is star in my league with release on relegation contract. I want to trade him and getting similar player is useless since he will not be satisfied in lower league. Solution? We need draft and trade-able draft picks! - please no drop on confidence for players on the trade block - nobody will put decent player on the block then. That does not have to be even true, some player might want to show up and play better with chance to get in a better team.

Wow, the fights are important - in my last game there were 2 fights and the player who won the fight gave a boost to their team, so they scored exactly 30 seconds after (once mine, once opponent). What are the skills good for fighting, endurance and physical? Spirit maybe?
