Big-Bobby Clobber reacted to koekefix in Manager changing teams - cooldown period
    Hi everyone,

    Just a minor suggestion.

How about a cooldown period for managers that want to change teams? For instance manager X taking control over team A, 10 days later when team B is available he/she wants to take control over team B. Maybe because that team is in a higher league or has better players or whatsoever.

I have seen this happen a couple of times with the same manager. Don't get me wrong, I like the addition of extra managers but I think it would be better if there is a cooldown period for changing teams. This way we give everyone else the chance to change teams and avoid teams getting badly managed or making it a mess.

    Cheers,

    K

Thanks for the report. And yes, you're right. I would have waited longer to install the update if it wasn't for the important bug fixes to solve the delayed simulation issues.

Question. Do you remember if that player had a multiyear contract or a one year? If he was contracted next season too, then his salary must fit both season salary caps before being recalled.

New bug encountered: Mitts GHL playoffs.
Am unable to recall players.  Get a pop-up that says that we don't have enough salary-cap space, but we have over $6 million place this season, but only about $460 000 for next year's  salary space??
Perhaps the system is only looking at next-season's budget?

Sorry to complain after the fact: but it probably would have been more prudent to let the season roll-over in UAT, before doing the update in the regular game-worlds.

Another thing, Injured player would need to put automaticaly out of salary cap and let freedom to bring back a two way player with high salary from AAHL

We all know a red oval on the roster is an injured player, instead of putting INJ in the field, why not put the expected length of injury there.  Currently we have to go to the plyer page and then the form tab.

A delete all messages in team and manager would be helpful as well.

    Hiya Fang.
       Had the same thing happen.
I closed the change-lineup pop-up, to return to the team page. Refreshed that team page, then tried to alter lineup again, and it worked fine.

Big-Bobby Clobber reacted to Renegades in Unrealistic Goalie Performance?
Not sure if this is a bug, or just extremely bad luck for me, but it's become such an issue for my team that I thought I'd see if anyone else has the same issue, or is maybe on the other side of the issue and benefiting ridiculously.

In general, the issue is that goalies that I've faced have been performing astronomically well recently. In the past 30 or so games that I can remember, half, or more than half, have had a goalie shut me out or have a SV% of over a .950, maybe even a 0.970. What makes it so frustrating is that I consistently out-shoot my opponents by almost double. This past game I lost 2-1 when I out-shot them 44 to 26 when their 78 overall goalie had a 0.977 SV%. I also had 7 PP's to their 1, and still lost.

In general, my goalie is average, my defense is ridiculously good (which should help my goalie a lot), and my offense has a lot of talent now as well. I can't figure out if anything is functionally wrong with my line choices or anything like that because I consistently get shut down by opposing goalies regardless of line assignments/combinations. I can't tell if other goalies are just putting up the best performances of their lives against me, or if my team is just slow rolling pucks into their pads, but something doesn't feel right and it's making my team feel absolutely powerless regardless of how much talent and power I stack on my team.

    Hey Renegades.

       Personally didn't report you.
Must say though that you did make a lot of trades, but none immediately stands-out as being dishonest.   (Didn't examine deeper values.)
Perhaps got reported on the quantity of trades, and amount of picks involved.

Still repeat my position:  The banning system is unfair, as it exists now.
Would be nice to have zero-trades with AI gameworlds, and bar-open AI-trading gameworlds.
Take the human judgement level out of the equation.

I call that: "playing yourself out of a job", when a player becomes unsignable.

Probably the fault of their agent though, telling them they're GHL ready, when no GHL team will hire them.

Would be funny to add a groveling feature: where 10 games into the season, you get a message from one of these guys that you have shortlisted, and the message essentially says: "Sorry to bother you, but if you have any space left on your team, I might be willing to take a pay cut. No more agent fees to pay, since I've fired him!"

    Agreed with both of you.

A manager should be able to make his picks unavailable.  This would help alleviate some of the useless AI trade-offers.
I often play in leagues with few real players, and mostly AI teams.  Once had 45 trade offers in the first 4 days of a new season, and the stupid AI always seems to offer you a prospect that they drafted, below the prospect you chose and drafted!  It's a ridiculous waste of time.

Would also be more fair for all if the AI teams didn't trade at all.

Will take a look at those trades from Clapper, and report them if it feels unfair.

I don't recall the exact trade you are referring to in Season 8, but it would be hypocritical to suggest I have never tried to push the envelope with a CPU trade (not sure last time I did one, but am sure I have in the past) or even a trade with a fellow manager.  But this goes to the point right, we either need to rely on some generally reasonable self policing (I don't trade with SHL teams unless I feel what I am offering is something that can help them immediately) or just prevent CPU altogether.  Honestly, since it is such a hot button issue and creates a lot of bad blood between each of us, I say just ban it outright.  All CPU rosters should be locked.  Seems like it would put an end to repetitive conversations like this, no?

    Hi Steve.

You also said this in a previous post: "We're all adults here and if you can't defend your trade, even if lopsided, then we probably don't want you in Biscuit anyways.  "

Please be careful not to sprain your ankle, as you step-down off of your self-anointed soap-box.

I'm one of the ones that reported you. It wasn't for the last trade, but for the AI-team rape-trade you made on Day 12, of Season 8.

Don't mean to pick on you, just get so sick of the constant hypocrisy here.

I'm no better, and have been banned with every team I manage, even for trading with other players.  Will probably get banned for accepting a CPU-offered trade sometime. That will be funny.

All of this judgement of fair-trade stuff doesn't work. Players can't be trusted to police themselves, and Anders doesn't have time to play kindergarten teacher with our little disagreements.

The best way to end a complaint, is with an offering of a solution:
A-) Create a game-world where AI trading is completely disabled.
B-) Create a game-world where AI trading is 100% acceptable even when lopsided.

Of course I would be the only real-player in that B world, right?

    Hope you are well.

I'm sending you this mail because there are still some managers abusing the trade system in their advantage. I really can't handle the unfairness that comes with it and that's why I'm asking you to report the manager of Collegeville Rhinos (SHL) as a cheater. I think there are more managers like him but what he has been doing 2 seasons in a row is just unreal. I want to prevent this from further escalating and make it fair for other managers as well. If you look at his team it's amazing the way they have been improved, but if you look at the trade history it's clear to see how he got that far. He has been trading only with the CPU and is still abusing the system. This has to be stopped.

I talked with Anders about this and he does not have the time to investigate this further. He wants us managers to step up and take our responsibility to report him. If we have enough reports he will be blocked by the system. Please report him and let us do something about this unfairness.

    Thanks,

    Kim

We all seem to try our best to game the system. We seek to minimize our taxes, and negotiate the prices of the things we want to purchase. We keep secrets from our co-workers, so that we can use them to look sharp at a later date.
From observation: it seems to be the way we are.

Yes: I trade with AI teams, almost exclusively.   I have not yet seen a reason or argument not to.  I have had a team in every GW, since the beginning of the game. Usually playing in the lower-level leagues, where there is two or four POT ( player-owned-teams).  The only way I will stop doing it is if I get banned, kicked-out, or the hardwired game-rules change.

These meta-gaming, gentleman's agreements were doomed to fail, and I never posted about them, because I was not in the GHL league where the discussion started, and I was dismayed at how the GM's who disagreed with it were portrayed.

From an outside point of view: in a GW of 90 teams, those rules benefit and protect the elite 8-10 teams; create an impenetrable buffer-zone of 4-10 mediocre teams; and lead to a world of hurt and despair for the remaining 70-75 teams.
How is that in any way fair gaming?
What is this BS altruistic proclamation: to preserve competitive AI teams for imaginary future managers? Horse-feathers!!

If all new GM's were to start in the LIHL: how is a team laden with about 25 yellow-barred LIHL players, (individual player trade values), supposed to make it to the elite top-10 in the GW, with 25 green-barred GHL players?
Drafts and free-agents (FA) you say? Moose-droppings!!

That's only possible if the table is equal for all, and so why not?    So let's do it!
Who's willing?  Flat fair rules, same for all.  No meta-gaming.
How about every GM in the game gets a vote on the rules concerning trading with AI-CPU-teams?
How's about's Anders hard-wire programs it into the game?
Then we all play within the hard-wired rules, and nobody has anything to complain about!

Except: any and every game-player has no choice but to play within the hard-wired rules, in any game, but some would seek to change those rules.
So; the rules get changed, or they stay the same.
But for the sake of understanding humans, please stop bending the rules, and then trying to convince others, that although you are advantaged by such change, that it's for the best for the game, and all involved.
Please: just stop.   Not everyone's buying it.

If it is indeed what everyone wants: then let's get a majority decision, and ask Anders to hard-program it into the game.
Of course: Anders can decide on his own, if he want's to do it.  We realize it is tricky and difficult, but we all, without exception, have faith in this wondrous gift of game, you have given us, Anders.  Thanks.

    Thanks,

    Kim

Don't mean to pick on ya Kim. Most other players are the same:
Reggie quit the Collegeville Rhinos, a few games ago. Anyone whom cares to have a look, will see that the rape of said team has already begun.  **********************************************REBELS ACQUIRE SCHMITZ FROM RHINOS The Richford Rebels have acquired Damien Schmitz and Bruce Redondo from the Collegeville Rhinos in exchange for Massil Christensen and rights to Matteo Legros-St-Pierre plus a GHL level 3rd round pick. **********************************************There is a dark secret, hidden in the closet of this game. And it is hypocrisy and protectionism. Well: I'm just teasing you boys.  Here's the good news: You're normal!!

Meta-gaming and gentlemen's agreements don't work.  Never have. Never will.   It seems to be against human nature.
Otherwise: why would we need referees and officials in every level of sports play?   We wouldn't need lawyers and judges, nor that smug principal who berated you, back when you were a naughty kid in school.
Heck: you even need a washed-up, red-nosed, fat booze-breathed excuse for a referee in your beer league, cause that arse for the red team keeps "accidentally" tripping other players, then saying a very disingenuous "sorry".

Thanks.

I did not mean to pick on anyone, just to show the undeniable true nature of us all.
None of us is sitting on a higher moral/ethical ground.

Big-Bobby Clobber reacted to GamePlanHockey in Pre release v1.1.8
A pre release of the upcoming v1.1.8 has been installed on the UAT environment. The release contains the following features and improvements:

    Pending contracts
A complete rework of player contracts extensions. An extension will no longer replace the current contract. Instead it will take effect after the player's current contract ends. This also means that you now have the possibility to handle both this and the next season's finance situation. Once your team has promoted or relegated you'll have the new leagues salary cap available for next season signings. This also comes with a limitation where contract extensions will only be allowed on the last year of the player's current contract. But it you will now be able to offer a contract to player's playing in Europe or in other non playable leagues once the regular season ends. If the player accepts he will join your team next season. Player that you own the rights to will be able to accept a contract offer during the complete season. Note that pending contracts also will be accounted for when releasing a player and they will be included in trade offers just like a normal contract.

    General happiness
The contract happiness has been removed and is replaced by General happiness. This will be extended in the future to include more happiness factors, such as likes and dislikes in the team. But for now it will handle the contract happiness situation and will give more detail regarding if the player wants to move to a bigger club or just is unhappy with his salary.

    Computer trading AI improvements
In a further attempt to prevent cheating or abusing computer teams in trades the following has been done:
Computer teams will be less likely to agree on trades involving a large number of players and picks Computer teams will be less likely to agree on trades if already been involved in a large number of trades the current season Computer teams will value incoming draft picks less There is also a new feature introduced where newly signed free agents will be on a trade lock for 20 days before being able to include them in a trade offer.

    Transactions loading speed*
Improved loading speed for transactions on the transfer page. Also includes extended filtering for world leagues.

Note. This is quite untested features so please report back any oddities you might find. Just add to this topic. Thanks
