Why do 18-20 year olds show on the free agent list if their rights are owned by a team already. This makes it really difficult to see who is actually a free agent

Well we had a five game winning streak, lost a game and then lost in a shootout earlier today. I went back to see how the team was looking and now the Confidence is OK, the Teamwork is Good, and the Winner Instinct is back to OK (and in the blue again). I'm really confused. Also, the Confidence bar is at like 90% Green but we're just Ok in that department while the Teamwork is near 75% and Good...and how do I lose Winner Instinct???

My Clapper team is currently on a decent streak. I just had one of my defenders (who was my captain) go down for a few days. While he was away I assigned a new temporary captain to fill the void. When making that change nothing was altered on my team chemistry (Confidence: Good, Teamwork: Good, Winner Instinct: Ok) . Now that I brought him back my team stayed the same in Confidence, dropped to OK in Teamwork and increased to a Strong Winner Instinct...what the heck?

It's difficult sometimes to see how a player is progressing based off of the current bar system. One could take notes as to their last known locations and track gain and loss but what would be nice is a bit more simplistic overview. What if when you went to the player's progress tab you were then able to see one of four progress bar colors to show growth and decline. We could use the same colors (red, yellow, blue, green) as a foundation for this. Let's say that a player is increasing but at a slower rate at faceoffs then the bar would show as blue for slow progress while a different attribute on the same player could be increasing quickly and show a green color bar. Likewise, there could be a player that has some digression and his bars could look yellow or red depending on how fast those traits are decreasing. This would give a GM a better understanding in how their players are developing or decreasing and maybe even give a little insight into how training alters specific training rates.

I would almost put money down that I will not end up in 1st place.  Almost.  I'm going to limp toward the finish line this season (again).  A few days ago my 2nd best forward got injured for 9 games.  Today my best forward got injured for 10 games.  I have 7 players who are 81+ and 3 of them are injured...

At this point with 9 games remaining, I need to hope either you or the Eagles drop a couple more games.  I hold a 3 game advantage on the Eagles with the point differential tie breaker.  Things would have to go horribly wrong for me to miss out on promotion... but it happened last year, so...

I've seen different opinions on this so the best advice is to try out different combinations and see what works for you.

I would think that for a Checking line you would need some combination of Power Forward, Grinder, Two-Way.  You'll probably want players with high Physical and Defense attributes.  For Energy you would need mostly Grinders and maybe an Enforcer or Power Forward.  You'll probably want players with high Spirit...and maybe Physical/Skating.  For both of these lines, you also may need Tough/Agitator type players, but not sure how much that plays in.

    * The statements above are purely educated guesses and not concrete facts.

** I have never been able to roll out a productive checking line.

    Good luck.

A live feed has been on the back burner for awhile now. I imagine it would be a gigantic task to try and implement. A stop gap that would satisfy a lot of managers would be an expanded play by play. I'd like to know exactly who is on the ice for every event. That would allow for managers who are interested to track more details of how their players are performing (zone starts, shots for and against while on the ice). Would open up a broader spectrum to evaluate how your players are performing.

I used to think tough or agitator would boost physical play, but I'm becoming more and more certain they just draw more penalties with little correlation to actual physical play. Gentle and respectful players seem to generate the same amount of hits as somewhat equal tough/agitator counterparts.

Thanks for the report. There haven't been any changes to the tactics familiarity for quite a while now but I will have a look if I can find any scenario that could explain your situation. Keep me posted with any changes you notice.

The GM of the LIHL's Michigan Center Fury announced a press conference earlier today to address the state of the team and to field some burning questions by the fans and media. The following is a transcript of that press conference:

Q: Your team is off to a red hot 18-0-0-2 start, placing you in first place in the league. Did this outcome catch you by surprise?
A: No, not at all. We have a good group of guys here and strong leadership among them. This is what we set out to achieve over the course of the last two seasons, so I am not surprised that our players are playing at a high level, but we have to keep it going.

Q: You made some controversy in the offseason in trading for Gabryel Nolasco, a player that could be a top line center for most IHL teams, and maybe start for some BHL teams. How is he adjusting to being on a lower level team, and do you think that was the right move?
A: Well, uh...Gabby is a phenomenal player, and we're happy to have him on the club. We had a good discussion in the preseason about how he would fit in and he has accepted that role. We sacrificed a 1st for him, but in my opinion it was well worth it. We were gunning for a promotion and I felt that we needed something to push us over the edge, and adding Gabby only makes our team that much better. It was not a rental move either, we're going to do the best we can to extend his contract and make him a member of our team for years to come.

Q: There's about 3 or 4 teams heavily competing for those top two spots, and some of those general managers have been around the league for a while now. Do you feel intimidated at all by some of the more experienced general managers?
A: Haha...I don't know if intimidated is the right word or not, I guess I consider it a challenge. When I was starting out I looked up to a lot of those GMs like Diamond and Kari, they definitely know how to run a team. We have our work cut out for us to stay on top, and each day is a learning experience to keep putting our best lineups out there and to improve our roster if and when we can.

Q: You were able to sign Francis Arena to a contract extension last week, how big is that for your club's future?
A: It's huge, we're really excited to have Fran for a few more years. He's a high-caliber player, he works his tail off every game, and he's a perfect fit on our first line.

Q: Speaking of contracts, the cap space is almost all used up for this season. Are there any more moves you might make to solidify being in one of the top two spots, and what happens if you fail to promote?
A: It's hard to say, if our players are playing well then there's no real reason to change anything, unless injuries occur which we've been lucky to have nothing major happen so far. We've got some expiring contracts that we'll have to evaluate at some point in time. As for failing to promote, I've got to be honest, it's something I haven't really been thinking about. We had a plan at the beginning of the season and it's the same plan we have right now. I've got confidence in our guys to get it done.

    Q: No more questions.
A: Alright, thanks guys. Have a good day.

Michigan Center Fury hosts the visiting South Dayton Owls tomorrow. Captain Manuel Bleich is listed as a healthy scratch, filling in for him is Leos Malga. Backup Andrai Nigro is slated to get the start in net.

So this is something I have never seen before. The offensive tactic I have been using for the past week or more continues to decrease, not increase?!? Has anyone ever seen that?

I switched back after game 14 when it became clear my experiment was not working. Both the new one and one I used last season were roughly equal in the blue zone. However, even though I switched to the original one from last season, it keeps dropping even though that is the one I am using. I even confirmed via all the asst reports I can access that I made the change. Oddly, it doesn't appear the one I switched from a week ago has decreased at all and has maybe increased even?!?!?

Just to throw in my two cents that no one asked for:

    1. Everybody needs to calm down.  This is a forum for an online game, not a political protest.  There are plenty of ways to bring up an issue you have with the game without personally attacking people.  And there are plenty of ways to defend yourself without getting into essentially a yelling match.  I haven't ever seen this from the community, and I'm disappointed.  Let's keep it constructive.

    2. CPU trading, in my opinion, is pretty balanced now.  It's almost impossible to rip off the computer, and you truly have to give up something good to get something from one of those teams.  If it's not unbalanced in the CPU's favor, the trade is not going through.  Besides, you should have seen it a few seasons ago when you could give up 3 old guys who aren't very good with orange trade value and get a top prospect.  It's come a long way and I think it's a good part of the game.

    3. The game is still being developed, and it's certainly not flawless.  But it changes and grows and gets better all the time, so bring up your complaints in a way that makes people want to listen, discuss, and make those changes, and it'll improve more quickly.

    4. This isn't meant to be condescending, I just like the game too much to see people rip it to shreds.

    5. Now I feel like a parent.  Great.

I've seen the rise of many a player in both leagues that I'm in. I've been apart of unfair CPU trades in the past and still attempt to do CPU trades when it makes sense on both ends. I offered a trade last night and gave a first round pick and a 82 OVR 19 YO goalie in return for a 25 YO, 84 OVR goalie and still got shot down. That all to say, I've seen you (Jihee) make some very questionable trades in your rise to the GHL also. You are not without blemish and I suggest that if any of us decides to bring this topic up again that you address the individual first and then if the response is not taken then log all your info and ask Glawin and Anders about it in the appropriate section. Once more - I've played my hand in the pointing finger game too but it only leads to more frustration. Find a different way to do it. Jusatin, because someone doesn't directly state that "you're cheating" doesn't mean they aren't saying it.

I'm off to my worst start ever!  But every one of my games (except 2) have been decided by 1 goal.  Often I do better in stats (30+ shots a game), but the league of Haseks, Prices, and Lundquivsts in their prime is making it feel like I am banging my head against the wall.  Honestly, if I thought I could do something to change it, I would, but don't see how getting 35 shots a night and still only getting 1-2 in (at best!) is a fault of my players.  Everyone just has amazing goalies now in GHL.

You can dominate a game and outplay the other team but still end up losing. And let us not forget the games against the (most of the time) young super saiyan goalies. It can get brutal.

I don't see that really solving the problem and if anything, it would penalize teams recently promoted more since you'll have at least half a roster that isn't able to compete at the next level (especially if you count prospects).  Why not just lower the Salary Cap and tweak the % that demoted players count towards cap?  You could do one or both in combination.  The difference between keeping a $2M contract for a demoted player makes a huge difference if it is $1M vs $200k against your cap!  You'd be able to keep only 20% (using those numbers) of the current hoarded players.

Apparently my Biscuit team saw how bizarely my Clapper team could create losses and decided to lose in a new fashion themselves. The team started off strong with two power play goals in the 1st and up until the 6:30 mark in the third had a 3-1 lead. That's when the tide turned and my team while on one their 12 power plays decided to make the match interesting and allow a short handed goal taking it to a 3-2 score. With 3.5 minutes left the Black Flag were back in the PP...to allow them a second short handed goal. The OT is scoreless and it goes to a shootout. We of course lose that and walk away limping with an injury to our top line passer...ouy!
