I've got 2 suggestions that I hope can be added into that 20 day trade lock rule.

    1) Entry level players do not have the restriction. They were allowed to be traded as prospects before having signed any deal, it just makes sense to me that they don't have the restriction handed to them as soon as they finally sign a deal.

    2) This one only applies to mid-season free agent signings. The restriction would essentially be that any free agent signing (preferably entry level contracts excluded) after day 6 would be unable to be assigned to the minors for 20 days. If we go back to the start of Dangles, its big problem was that 1 team was essentially able to sign nearly every free agent with a snowball effect at less than most managers were offering. This was possible for 2 reasons; reputation and the minors. Coming back to when the new updated worlds were released, everybody was given an equal reputation to prevent an unfair advantage to the older managers as well as the managers that played fast worlds over slow worlds. And that worked all fine and dandy as it was mostly best offer gets the player with a little bit of random luck.

However, the snowball effect is still possible. Now that the seasons have all begun, the team reputations are shifting up and down to reflect how well teams are doing. The reputation thing itself isn't a bad idea; my issue starts with the fact that I've noticed good free agents popping up and then are snagged by better teams with better offers than some worse off teams made. To me, this is still acceptable since a free agent probably wants to go a more successful team than a team looking towards relegation. Where I really develop a problem with the system is when these rare free agents appear and better teams snag them up and then immediately get assigned to the minors. If a team plays him, fine, I have no issue, but if the player is immediately assigned its basically telling me a manager is being super greedy and signing players just so that other teams cannot sign new free agents and improve themselves. This is rather unfair for managers less fortunate at the start of the season. It also enables the snowball effect to continually exist as managers are able to assign players for a fraction of their cost and then once again make more offers for the limited number of free agents that appear mid season.

My reasoning for the 20 day mid-season free agent assignment restriction is that it prevents teams for going after every new free agent solely in an effort to prevent other teams from getting them and essentially abusing the minor system. If a team actually wants to play the player, then the restriction wouldn't really affect the manager as he/she can still do so. I suggest that this happens for only mid-season signings since there is a lot of free agent movement during the preseason and sometimes managers get 2 out of  2 free agents they aimed for while only expecting to possibly get 1. It also makes sense from a players perspective. If a strong free agent can expect to be paid millions, why would he go with a team that's going to immediately assign him to the minors and then only make a few hundred thousand. Yes 1-way/2-way deal exist, but I don't think good players sign 2-way deals expecting to be immediately sent down.

I think I may have been the first to call this out during the live chat, but I am more than content to see the results, even if it appears intent was not there.  Self-policing ourselves is still the best way to handle this, so I stand by this.  Sometimes each of us might be involved in something that looks shady, sometimes due to our own fault and other times not, so glad we could flag it, talk about it (mostly) civilly, and then find a solution.

I think a lot of people are on short leashes here due to the relaunch so expect a bit more scrutiny on each other and the game until we are a few weeks into the game and people are starting to feel more comfortable.  I know I am still trying to give the system the benefit of the doubt and see where it goes!

I'm completely satisfied with the end result.

I also have to commend you for handling this rather professionally and  not turning this into a shouting match as has happened in the past.

    Hi all!

As Alex mention above we had a long discussion about this case and to begin with I would like to say there is NO CHEATING regarding this trade. I have seen messages as proof and after new release we got some new tools helping verify some things we couldn't before. Will not mention what of course.

This particular case happened because a player signed up made some strange trades and later resigned which is sad but will of course happen from time to time. We thought it was best to revert the trade because of this. So the trade is now being reverted.

With that said we appreciate people noticing these kind of things and report them! We need your help with this! So keep reporting! This time it turned out to be legit but next maybe not.

    Keep enjoying the game!

To recap, a trade took place yesterday between my team (Red Tide) and Arcola Alligators that was perceived as unfair and was flagged by numerous managers, some enthusiastically accusing me of all kinds of cheating. I have been in discussions with Glawing for some time today as to how to best handle the situation - he has seen the messages between myself and the other manager involved, and will comment on this thread to confirm that no cheating took place. The trade will also be reversed.

Here is a recap of what happened:

    1) I had drawn-out discussions with the Arcola manager with regard to his player Gibazov (91F), sending him numerous offers, including Bowen(89C) that eventually went to the team.
    2) The latest offer from me was Bowen (89C), and my GHL 1st for Gibazov (91F)
    3) The Arcola manager countered this offer with Gibazov + 2nd for Bowen, which I immediately accepted because while it is unfavourable to him, I am not responsible for his decisions - I am responsible for making my team better. The offer was bad, but not so bad as to suspect any kind of foul play or self-destruction.
    4) Some time shortly after my acceptance of the offer, the manager of Arcola resigned, making the entire situation seem entirely more shady.
I proactively reached out to Glawing today to address the situation, providing my POV, and offering to reverse the trade.

I appreciate the pushback of this community against cheating, which this would have been a blatant and easily noticeable example of, had it actually happened. That was awesome.

What was not so awesome is some managers immediately jumping to arms and accusing me of shady dealings not only in this trade, but every other trade (you know who you are), and refusing to listen to my POV. Not fantastic for your health to have so much repressed anger, friends   .

I hope this clears it up. Glawing will comment below to confirm, and we can all move on with our season.

Well, the game is streaky for sure - you loose two games because of bad luck and then you are more likely to loose more. And on the other hand, you can beat a good team that start you winning streak. It's not a bad thing generally, although it can be very depressing. But look at NHL, the streak are there as well. Panthers in 15/16 went from 14-12-4 to 26-12-4, CBJ in 16/17 made it to 16 wins (and yet one season ago they made second longest loosing streak at the beginning of season of all time with 8 losses). And those were not great teams that were contenders for SC. Rather ok or mediocre teams. Ducks are not bad and they have 12 losses in a row now.

Yeah, you went down pretty fast. Also Minutemen... they attacked top4 some time ago and looked unbeatable, but now they our outside PO (but they have still chance to get there in last round).
The 3 points per win make a lot - I was battling for 1st place, then I lost 5 in a row and I'm 15 points behind the 1st place. Well, also because Vandals won 8 in row (in regular time).  But 15 points difference in this league is like an ocean.

Hey now!  The Leopards B-squad are going to come out firing on all cylinders.

Yes, this needs to happen!  Although with the new auto-promotion system after the reset, I'd be surprised if you didn't either win SHL or promote via SHL playoffs in S1.

...and if this upcoming season last's long enough, there's a solid chance you are in GHL by the end and I am back in SHL.  Haha.

Yeah, if anything, I find the FAs are still too eager to sign for too little money.  Ho hum, another season with us all with 90+ players and the two new teams barely able to scratch together a B squad, no offense!  The economic engine is broken in this and needs to be fixed before the new launch, whenever that is.

I'm always one FA from the title!

I do think the reputation thing is now too out of control.  Rebels just signed Sontag for $3M and I offered $3.7M and was denied.  I'm fine with that, actually, as they are defending champs and all, but I got some message that I was over the cap, which wasn't the case because my other FA hadn't yet declined my other offer.  The system should default to whichever FA takes your offer first.  Now you can't make concurrent offers to FAs.  I agree you shouldn't sign more than you can afford, but if there are two FAs that are more or less equal in my book, I have to fight for one and if I lose, hope the other one wasn't taken yet?  That's not true to life.  Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way.

Regardless, until the salary cap and salary requests are realistic, FA combined with the elevated OVRs make the game kind of broken.

I can also tell I'm going to have a hell of a time competing in GHL this season.  21 MILLION!  Wow.  I can't wait to see what he eventually accepts from another team.

I'm here! And getting stronger for the supposedly last season - I do not believe the transition will be happening this year

I signed him, Paul. But he asked for something 4.1M from my team and I added 400k to get him, although there is no interest in signing players anymore, apparently. What I don't get is the number he asked from you - you don't have the reputation, but still 21M is 5 times more then what is real value of his salary. That can't be real for GHL newcomer - nobody would stay in GHL with such problem to get new players through FA. I would propose to write to Anders if he can check this and perhaps start on different system for new GPHM.

It was a good (potentially) last season for the Black Flag as we came up big at the end of the season and slid into a playoff spot. After going down one game we rallied to win the first round but I will not miss the brutal beat downs received from the GHL teams in the upcoming update, that is for certain!

Well, I spent 4 seasons in BHL, then promoted to SHL.  Then spent 4 seasons in SHL and will be promoting to GHL for next season.

I am slightly bummed out that I won't get to compete against the current GHL managers in Biscuit.  I would have all but guaranteed that in 4 seasons I would have been GHL champ.

    Bon Honda http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=14969

Bob Honda is my second choice for HOF - I really liked his name and he also has 6 cups in total (5 with Protons and 1 in S1 Mount Healthy Young Guns). He was very important part of our team for the entire career, left-handed forward in our top line - average TOI per season was 20:30-22:00 and in S7 he has most point in PO (14 points in 9 games, which is second most to Frank Beard's 15 in S3). Unfortunately he retired too early, in age of 36, while still at highest 91 OVR. Compassionate and tough player was very universal in roles (as high skating, high scoring, high defence and high spirit player) and always performed very high as a sniper or a powerforward. He was loved team member especially for his willingness to sign quite cheap long term contract (highest was $3 370 000 per season for 6 years).
In 760 regular season (GHL only) games, he collected 683 points (321+371), including 220 PPP. He also has very high +225 in plus/minus, 2362 shots and average TOI of 20:30 with average performance of 77 over his entire career.
He also played 91 PO games with 75 points (41+34) and +16 in +/-.

Steve reacted to Paul T in 2nd Annual "Tarnished Silver Biscuit Plate" PreS 16
OK, it's that time of season again.  Time for the 2nd Annual Tarnished Silver Biscuit Plate!  For those who missed last season's extravaganza, the best way to describe this tournament is, think GHL GOLD CUP... but better!  Or here is a link to last seasons tourney:  http://forums.gmgames.org/topic/9682-inaugural-tarnished-silver-biscuit-plate-pres-15/

The round robin tournament is between 4 prestigious SHL teams, who at one time in their history auto-promoted from BHL.

    1) Minnedosa Musketeers.  They need no introduction.  They were the winner of last year's Tarnished Silver Biscuit Plate and the only one of these teams to make the SHL playoffs.  They were tired of always finishing 2nd best to the Leopards and went into S15 with a chip on their shoulder.  A literal chip because all they do is aggressively shove food into their faces.  They are known as being the biggest, baddest and fattest team in all of Biscuit.

To get a glimpse of their greatness in action, here is a link to their preseason training video:

Last seasons result:  3-0-0-0, 15 GF, 8 GA

    2) Tullahoma Tomcats.  I would say they need no introduction, but they do it themselves anyways.  A team that exceeded all expectations last season, but it still was not good enough for Coach Wendel.  Anything short of a 60-win season catapults him into a rage of fury.

The below clip was taken after a S15 win in which the Tomcats only won by 1 goal (start video at 0:45):

Last seasons result:  1-1-0-1, 8 GF, 8 GA

    3)  Pittsboro Plastic Attack.  The SHL newcomers certainly held their own last season and avoided relegation by a large margin.  Known league-wide for patience with player development and building an empire via draft picks.  Coach Naekfor is meticulous when it comes to building a team.  Everyone who has ever tried to pry a draft pick off his hands has received the same response:

Last seasons result:  0-1-1-1, 8 GF, 10 GA

    4)  Deferiet Leopards.  A disappointing season for the Leopards that was foreshadowed by a disappointing preseason tournament.  The Leopards missed the playoffs by a single point for the first time since taking over the franchise.  While most teams dwell on the golf course, that just isn't their style.  Instead, these hard rockers threw a killer party complete with fine women, booze and blow and partied their faces off.

The full party was recorded here in this completely NOT SAFE FOR WORK OR CHILDREN video:

Last seasons result:  who cares, what's it to you anyways?

Season 16 schedule (Home teams on left):
Day 4 - Leopards vs. Plastic ... Musketeers vs. Tomcats
Day 5 - Tomcats vs. Leopards ... Plastic vs. Musketeers
