  1. Things continue to move in expected directions. I know it sounds crazy, but they really were moving in opposite for a time being. Is it possible that when you switch, the old one continues increasing for a while and the new one, if not in the red, still decreases? Regardless, things seem to be working again as expected, except for my team wins, ha.

Will consider offers for my long time player and captain Jessica Pichardo. http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=15740 An 86ovr Center at 28 years, he still has a lot of potential, but assuming I don't get regulated, still not sure he is in my long term plans. He can play multiple roles and has decent size (6'1", 187lbs). I'm interested in either draft picks or a center/forward/prospect that could potentially replace him or a similarly ranked defenseman. Bonus points if the contract isn't 1W. Message me with any questions or to toss ideas at. I consider anything, at least for a second or two.
  3. So I've changed in the past (for better or worse) and it does take about 30 games to go from the bottom to full, but isn't my concern here. The one I switched from is still green although I haven't played it in about 10 games now (can't say exactly since I didn't write it on the calendar and didn't expect I'd have to remember) and the one I have been playing with is exactly halfway and unclear if the decreasing has ceased. I literally just measured the bar on my screen and will measure it the next few days to see if anything changes. Again, this just seems to be different compared to how it worked before the last update.
  4. Will update again after the next two games, but still appears to be moving in the wrong direction, yet my team appears to be playing better, regardless what the bars say. Anyone else change tactics since the last big upgrade and experience the same thing?!?
  5. So this is continuing. Now the previous offensive tactic is in the green and still increasing, but the one I have been using dropped more.
  6. So this is something I have never seen before. The offensive tactic I have been using for the past week or more continues to decrease, not increase?!? Has anyone ever seen that? I switched back after game 14 when it became clear my experiment was not working. Both the new one and one I used last season were roughly equal in the blue zone. However, even though I switched to the original one from last season, it keeps dropping even though that is the one I am using. I even confirmed via all the asst reports I can access that I made the change. Oddly, it doesn't appear the one I switched from a week ago has decreased at all and has maybe increased even?!?!?

    S12 General Chat

I'm off to my worst start ever! But every one of my games (except 2) have been decided by 1 goal. Often I do better in stats (30+ shots a game), but the league of Haseks, Prices, and Lundquivsts in their prime is making it feel like I am banging my head against the wall. Honestly, if I thought I could do something to change it, I would, but don't see how getting 35 shots a night and still only getting 1-2 in (at best!) is a fault of my players. Everyone just has amazing goalies now in GHL.

Yeah, the games seem especially brutal this season (on the manager's psyche) and totally unpredictable.
  9. I don't see that really solving the problem and if anything, it would penalize teams recently promoted more since you'll have at least half a roster that isn't able to compete at the next level (especially if you count prospects). Why not just lower the Salary Cap and tweak the % that demoted players count towards cap? You could do one or both in combination. The difference between keeping a $2M contract for a demoted player makes a huge difference if it is $1M vs $200k against your cap! You'd be able to keep only 20% (using those numbers) of the current hoarded players.
  10. I think a somewhat "easy" fix would be to make players less willing to sign a two way contract. Currently at GHL level, anyone below about 85 will sign a two way. If that number were say around 80, then less GHL managers would be willing to sign them at the 80-85 range, making them available for SHL, and there would be a gradual trickle down to the lower leagues. I agree that a lot of managers are putting players that are too good for the affiliates there to save on cap space to sign more players. I have a few myself, but use them as backups mostly, which I don't think was the intent of the affiliate system, but we were all quick to misuse/abuse it.
  11. But my experience seems to show that the harder you train them, the more likely they are to get injured and/or tired, which affects their outputs. But I can't say that is 100% correct based on my limited sample size and not able to factor out other variables.
  12. On the Home Screens for each League in Biscuit, it still shows all the Season 11 standings and stats, even though the right side shows the Preseason games and latest news.
  13. I find the 3rd Rounders are good for trading down, since it is like the next lower league picking up a more valuable 2nd rounder. It's a win-win if played correctly. Otherwise, it's hard to find pieces to send down and create that interaction with the lower league if you've been in the higher league for more than a couple seasons and have purged your roster of never going to play at that level signings. Also, since some players are draft pick hoarders, sometimes I find a willing partner if I bundle a 3rd round pick with a player to get another player I prefer. I think we both think we're getting the upper hand since the draft hoarder thinks the picks are more valuable and, like you, I feel the 3rd rounders only have a

I'm looking for a Center. Ideally under $3M a year and the cheaper the better, but he needs to be in the green range for Defense and Faceoffs to make him better than my Plan B and C. I admit I don't have much to offer in return, but maybe we can work something out. Message me or send me offers if you are looking to unload someone.
  15. If by multi-year you mean about 6, then yes, I am doing the same and that is my story and sticking to it!

    Traits

I've played a lot of dice games in my life, which by their nature are RNG. Anytime you play a game that allows modifications to a die roll vs a reroll, the modifiers are always preferred and better at increasing your desired goal (ie increasing the odds to go one way or another). The way I read this is that when RNG is consulted, there are several variables (assume offense, defense, and goaltending) based on traits, skills, etc. that modify this number and then the result is compared against the table to see the end result. A Dungeon and Dragons type explanation for sure, but not much different than how even sophisticated hockey arcade style games are designed, just here without the pretty pictures.

Well, he'd start off really well, like 99 out of 100, but then get hurt and not able to finish.

No, that is just Karma since I was angling for Council as well and you got him to yes sooner, haha. But seriously, I've noticed that trades do have some hidden impact on teams. It's easy to start a downward spiral by doing multiple trades trying to fix what is wrong. We've seen that with a few of the relegated teams over the past few seasons. It goes from bad to worse if you aren't careful.

One key thing I noticed very much related to this topic is Marauders actually have two of their team traits only in the BLUE. If that doesn't put a death nail in the need to have your team's confidence and winning instinct high to win important and tough games, I don't know what else would.... Kind of brings me back that overall ability and tactics (and certainly those of the opponents) play an over sized variable in the results than getting three nice green bars, which I have to show off with my 12th place medal, ha. I do think there is luck/RNG behind the scenes, but I am ok with that assuming we do have some ability to modify those. I believe we do, but with so many managers being at quite advanced abilities and understanding at this point (plus the somewhat exaggerated skill level of the league right now (IMHO)), I think luck is going to be more of a deciding factor when so many other variables are equal. Not complaining, but showing how the GHL specifically has evolved to this by this point in the engine. I think the faster worlds, many seasons ahead of us, have also expressed this concern at the higher levels in each world.

GHL is so stacked right now. Honestly, I think the average team now would wipe the floor of any of the champion teams from 3 or more seasons ago since so many of us have done well with grooming our players and the progression of our players. A lot of 90+ players in the league right now, for better or worse. I remember when if you had 1-2, you were tough to beat. Speaking of, the parity is so tight now, I honestly think that 10 of us are more or less a coin flip from being 3rd place to 13th. I don't mean that disparagingly, but even though I finished in 12th, had I just won 3 more games (lots of 1 goal losses) and had anyone above me lost 3 more, the final finishes would be totally up for grabs. I don't see that changing anytime soon and I accept my role in continuing being a very mediocre team! ha!

New Sheriff in town!?!? Well done Xavier with the upset 2-0 sweep of Protons! Don't think anyone would have predicted that two weeks ago! Also, the dude's got THREE 1st round picks coming his way to add to an already stacked lineup. We've helped create a monster.

    Grit

I also think one or two of the attributes in the profile count towards grit as well. For instance, Tough or Agitator under Dirty seems to me would be gritty players and those not nervous or anxious would probably also help to make them more gritty players than those that are Lazy and don't give up easily. Not sure which attributes from above or my comment count more towards grit, but my guess is they all influence it a bit.
  23. Yes, I remember having a Susan and a Jessica on my team! It was even more fun to say them with Russian accents. I pretended that due to translation error, they filled out the visa form incorrectly.
  24. Scoppa never panned out for us, but when he was on the team, we sure did make a lot of Mario jokes! Oh, Mamma Mia!
