A long winded and font challenged version of something I have been thinking about for several seasons. And yes, it looks like I will be moving up to GHL next season and when I compare my team to even the mid-ranked GHL teams, it is clear, on paper, they are much better. My hope is that 1) I won't be carrying a lot of dead weight (never going to play) contracts, 2) I have few Promotion Salary contracts with the good ones I have signed, 3) the higher salary cap in GHL will give me a chance to be very aggressive in getting 3-4 GHL caliber players during free agency to at least make me competitive when the season starts. So contrary to your point, I think you MUST start doing this from the lower levels. I started in IHL and there are 3-4 good teams I have played with at that level and BHL that are already successful at the GHL level, so they too found a way to do it. Not saying the spread couldn't be looked into for parity sake, but I have the opposite opinion, I think the best way to make a strong run into GHL is to build up from the lower leagues instead of taking over a possible ticking time bomb team already in GHL.
