One thing I would note based on your lineup in our matchup two days ago is that I don't think you have your offensive lines paired up the best way. For instance, you have 2 Snipers and a Two Way on Line 1 and Line 2. Also, think of their shooting side for which wing you place them on. Another thing to note is the tactics you have for each line. Not just the overall plays, but each line. Some lines and players respond better and it is also the chemistry between the types of players. It's a bit of trial and error. You'll see I have a 79 on my 2nd line, but it is b/c he gels better with the other two than the 82 I had there. I can't explain it, I just kind of trial and error it. Try something crazy, that sometimes works for me.

Agreed, I'm not panicking, yet, haha. My team is also usually a slow start and really picks up near mid season, but always has a couple slumps in them. Considering my team lacks a lot of skill that the others do, I feel I am competitive in most games, but my team isn't as deep as most. Hoping for some rating increases, the new guys gel, and I can maybe avoid one of the demotion levels. Elite and Vandals play soon!

Hey, just sent you two offers, but had to pull one back since I noticed too late they are 1w on my end, which won't work for you. I'll keep thinking, but you have one already waiting...
  4. I didn't see Carey Price giving back half his salary after missing all those games this season? Injuries are just part of the randomness of the game. Yes, some players appear to be more injury prone than others, but that is the risk you are taking in signing them. I'd rather have an 80 rated player who only plays 80% of the games than a 70 rated player who plays 100% and I would expect to pay the 80 more as well. I don't think we need to get into the real code, but suffice to say, there is a randomness built in that some players get hurt more, some less, but possible for all to get hurt or not at all on any given game. It's called a SIM for a reason.
  5. A long winded and font challenged version of something I have been thinking about for several seasons. And yes, it looks like I will be moving up to GHL next season and when I compare my team to even the mid-ranked GHL teams, it is clear, on paper, they are much better. My hope is that 1) I won't be carrying a lot of dead weight (never going to play) contracts, 2) I have few Promotion Salary contracts with the good ones I have signed, 3) the higher salary cap in GHL will give me a chance to be very aggressive in getting 3-4 GHL caliber players during free agency to at least make me competitive when the season starts. So contrary to your point, I think you MUST start doing this from the lower levels. I started in IHL and there are 3-4 good teams I have played with at that level and BHL that are already successful at the GHL level, so they too found a way to do it. Not saying the spread couldn't be looked into for parity sake, but I have the opposite opinion, I think the best way to make a strong run into GHL is to build up from the lower leagues instead of taking over a possible ticking time bomb team already in GHL.

    200 wins

I just got my 200th regulation win last night. I know I am not the first to do so in Biscuit, but was wondering which other managers in Biscuit have 200 or more or might also be close to that? Anders, if one looks at the Managers tab in the Game World menu, it lists the reputation and experience of the managers. If it listed their records, then I would already know the answer to my question. Plus, it might be a bit of inter-league and personal rivalry to see how we stack up against each other.

    Season 4

This season might be make or break without some major changes. In Season 1, finished 4th in BHL and won my way up to SHL. Season 2, just missed SHL playoffs hampered by a couple bad signings that didn't live up to their demands, and contract changes and injuries. Season 3, missed automatic promotion by 1 point and after a complete choke, lost 2 of 3 in the first round of playoffs (rematch game 1 tonight!!!). Coming back with nearly identical team with a couple FA plus ups on the 2nd lines, but everyone is one year older. Defensemen are starting to age past their prime and worry that even if I get up to GHL next season, my defense will need reworked to be competitive, and that is if we can again get past the good crop of teams this season. Fun playing against almost all of you (bouncer, rainsilent, jusatin) the past few seasons! See you on the ice again soon!
  12. Is there a reason goalies appear to never get injured. Goalies get hurt all the time too. Plus, it is a major impact on a team when it happens.

    Coaching

Not sure if I totally agree with this. I mean, I kind of feel like I am the coach! But I do like the idea of non-tangibles adding or subtracting to a team's abilities (even temporarily), but I'm sure that is a programmer's nightmare! haha. For instance, maybe a team on a hot streak feels more confident, a new arena deal is signed (or not), merchandise sales increase, a star player resigns, etc. But you don't want too many off-ice impacts since after all we want to win and lose based on our team and coaching decisions, not more randomness.
  15. I would love to have the Roster screen sortable. For instance, being able to have all the centers, forwards, and defensemen sort by overall ability, age, ratings, contract length, cost, etc. Thanks, Steve
