  1. Hi bremitt, don't feel bad, suggestions are always welcome!

Taking over a new team is tough because you inherit all the crap from the previous manager.  As you climb up the ladder, your roster size will almost automatically whittle itself down to a typical NHL size.  Signing contracts and balancing the salary cap are key, and the best teams are able to manage both while remaining competitive.  I choose quality over quantity, as I'm sure many other managers do.  I would rather pay more for each contract and have 23 top-notch players on my team as opposed to paying minimal contracts and having 39 players on my roster.  What the heck am I going to do with 39 players anyway?  They won't all get playing time, which will only stunt their growth.  Bottom line: not to worry, your roster will even itself out as you become more competitive.

I'm sure the GPHM staff and others will chime in on your suggestions, but in the meantime, there is a great general user guide put together by rainsilent, I highly recommend checking it out.

  2. There is no must really. Just a matter of design. I thought it would bring some familiarity to the main team and its affiliates. That way when you browse a player's stats you could easily see that the player has been assigned to an affiliate.

Let's start out this way. It's no big thing to change the city of affiliates further down the road.

I figured familiarity was the reason, and I'm totally fine with that.

  3. Welcome TavesSoul!

Not sure how the competition is in Howitzer, but if it's like the other worlds, it's probably fierce in the higher leagues!  Keep pushing and you'll make it to the SHL!

  4. I'm wondering if a patch made the draftees too poorly rated now?

Remember Lumber had a couple drafts where the players were very highly rated, now the last two drafts in Mitts have very poor ratings.

One extreme to the other between the two worlds.

Some examples from the Season 10 draftees:

Ranked 3rd with an overall rating of 67

Ranked 8th with an overall of 57

Ranked 21st with an overall of 53

  5. Actual players from the British Elite League?  Negative.  This game uses fictional players for legal purposes, I'm sure.

    However...

There is a UK league in the game.  From the menu bar at the top, click World, then Leagues, scroll down to the bottom and you will see the GBHL (Great Britain Hockey League).  You can sign players from the GBHL (and any international league) during the Silly Season, which takes place from Days 1 through 3, basically the start of a new season.

To my knowledge, there are no players in the game who were born in the UK.  The GBHL has players from a variety of other countries, such as Canada and the US.

  6. You're right, EXXEO, my team is not a faceoff powerhouse, but much like in real hockey, winning the draw is important, it gives you an immediate advantage.

My goal is to get more centermen who can win faceoffs.  Every little edge in this game helps!

  7. Bonjour, Olivier!

This is a cool game, and no, the servers are not down that often.  The game designer, Anders, updated the game to v1.2.1 the other day, so that might explain some of the down time.

    Bonne chance!

  8. Thanks again, I hope my team can keep it up, still a lot of hockey left to play this season!

As for Tut, he built a strong team.  The same was true for Senet's old teams that he abandoned, they were still very competitive as bots.
