  1. Cannot see the player, which world are you in?

And yes, it isn't a fast process to turn the team around. Expect next year to not be easy, but if you make good signings in FA, you can make the playoffs. When I started my second team, I was 16th in the LIHL the first season, and now 4 seasons later I'm 2nd in BHL. Without cheating computer as well.

When it comes to the contract lenght there are quite a few topics about it, but this one is quite good.

    2) When signing a contract extension with a player the new contract replaces the old one and take effect immediately. This is not optimal and something that might change in the future.

So it's not a bug that the contract is just for this year, but it's how the game is now. It's not optimal and the whole contract stuff is going to change later on. You could also check out this thread for more explanation. (As you can see you're not the only one confused so it's good Anders is rewriting the contract stuff.)

  2. Hi,

Take a look around the forums and read the help files. Some of your questions are answered there.

    Your first question:

Take a look at the "Player Contract" help file.

You can only approach players in European leagues during the silly season (the first 4 days of every season). The player is a rookie you have rights for who's playing in the Europe. In this case you cannot do much since you can only sign rookies to deals in the beginning of the season, and this one is ending now.

    The second question:

Some of your players wont sign with you at the end of the season. This game is trying to be as realistic as it can, so the players want to sometimes play for better teams or better leagues. The ones that wont sign are wishing to do so. The ones that might, are waiting for Free Agentsy and will decide there, if teams in better leagues offer them contracts, they probably wont sign with you.

To the point of how you can improve your team:

The game has a draft system. Use that and the Free Agents to improve your team. Also try trading with other teams. And when it comes to contract length, you can offer them more than 1 year at a time, but you need to consider how it's going to affect their salary demands, and which players you want to sign for long term. (Who might help you to get promoted and still be useful in the higher leagues.)

Starting as the worst team in the world isn't going to be easy, but if you have your draft picks, and you take a close look at the Free Agents right when the next season begins (not 1 day later, not even halfway through the first day), you can build up a team and advance a league per season.

Feel free to ask more, but also check out the other topics in the forum for help first.

Moved to questions and answers since this isn't a bug.

  3. In another online management game all CPU teams drop down from league they are in at season end and are replaced by next highest active team from lower league. This way there should be more active teams in the higher leagues.

I don't see the Hattrick way of doing things working here due to the gap between leagues being so big and players having different type of contracts (years instead of just salary and a market). But not totally against the idea if we can find a way that works in GPH as well.

  4. Yeah I like the idea of only being able to revert the trades that have raised suspicion. Also like the idea of seeing the trades / reverted ones of each world for comparison. Helps out with each world using the same rules.

  5. Yeah the Hattrick Gamemasters was what I was thinking about as well. Actually got in touch with Anders and he's taking a look into this matter and will know when he has something to say on the matter, how we move forward :)

  6. I find that one of the issues with trading with human players is the lack of communication by most. If a trade is rejected, a counter offer or a message saying why they are not interested would be awesome.

Often I get a trade rejected and don't receive a counter offer or a reason why they are not interested. IF you don't want to move that player, make him unavailable or tell me what it would take or simply tell me I don't have anything you want for said player. This is something I miss from H-D, where there was some sort of negotiation and a active chat for this purpose. Here the game world chat is barely used and could help negotiate and keep in touch with other managers.

Also I had decent players available all season and had to trade them to CPU teams since no one  made offers or counter offers on them even though they were available almost form the start of the season.

Part explanation for the lack of communication from the community I find to be due to the forums being a mess and requiring different logins, not being accessible within the game and the pm system being kind of a mess right now.

What I'd like to see is game world specific forums added inside the game and pms being rewritten into different mailbox than the rest of the game "messages". Or into a chat window like the one found at the bottom of this page. This way the players couldn't not notice the forums or other messages, which I feel quite many don't realize exist as of now. Also I'd like to see some sort of in-trade-chat at some point, so instead of having to keep multiple tabs open when trading, you could have your chat on the other side of the popup screen and the trade assets on the other, with rewamped compare and add in / out methods. But that's a long way from now and would need redesigning the whole UX/UI (which I think should be done anyways).

This is just mumbling now and I'll leave it here. But I find that the separate forums are really a big disadvantage we have in GPH.

When it comes to rainsilent's point, I agree the players shouldn't be totally banned from the game, just not being able to trade at all. And the board seems like a good idea and something I'd like to be part of personally. But then again, not if it happens via these forums and not in game somehow.

  7. Try to get some friends here and fill your leagues with active managers, then we do not have to take gentleman agreements or ask Anders to change the rules.

This, although it's hard because of said exploits. Had a friend who joined the GHL but left due to some teams being way too good and players screwing him over when he went user on holiday. Heck that's the reason I don't want to get promoted from SHL because if I don't have the perfect team, no chance for me to succeed.

    E:

Maybe toss in some mods to check on CPU trades and accept/reject them as per 'League's decision'.

This is something I could see working out as a temporary (or permanent) solution. Have 2-4 mods named for each game world and at least 2 of them would need to accept trades for them to go through. (Just with CPU and user on holiday I guess.) If something seems shady they could contact the offering teams.

  8. Was looking at the trades as well when they were proposed (have quite a lot of young players on my shortlist so know pretty well when people are "cheating" or abusing the system), and was really glad to see that the guy doing the shady business didn't really know how to work the system.

It's not just this one team taking advantage of cpu in terms of picks, but a trend going on. A friend of mine played few seasons with the Cherry Valley Legends, and whenever his team went user on holiday, some teams immediately sent trade offers for some of the players I had shortlisted. (Had to tell my friend to log back in and check the trades to see if they were cool or not a couple of times..) So that's why I don't think the gentleman's pact is going to work in our world, as sad as that sounds. There will always be individuals who are going to exploit the system when it's possible. (And glad to see Wizard spread out the good word ;))

And in topic of trading picks to and from computers, I don't think it should be removed, just make it so the trade values for them are a lot bigger, or when a pick is in the trade the CPU doesn't accept trades if the human has x number of trading assets more or something of that sort. Not really sure how it should be done, but I don't think it should be removed altogether, when people can trade with computers for picks, while being fair and honest. (An example of this is my recent trading for SHL 1st rounders, which I think I have gotten around of making quite fair trades, giving away young NAT players in exchange as well as giving clearly better players to my trading partners, than which I have received back. You can share your opinions, but I sincerely believe I've done quite a good job with them.)

  9. I think these (and others stats like PP shots, blocked shots, etc.) would fit right into the release of new game report (if I recall correctly Anders wanted to make the game report so it comes second by second and shows all game events, hope I'm not dreaming and this was indeed the case?). But yeah, would love to get some more stats we can take a look at.

  10. Hi,

Joined the IHL in Howitzer as well. I've been around for a while and glad to see familiar names here as well! A bit about my team, trying something different here compared to Biscuit and Lumber, we'll see how it goes. My current goal is to stay in IHL for the first half-season, get my team fixed through drafting and FA and then work my way up, league by league. We'll see how it goes!

  11. Hello!

As we're nearing the last quarter of the season I'm looking to move my players. Basically anyone is up for grabs for draft picks and prospects (don't want to get into GHL just yet, happy to stay in SHL and let my team develop).

Take a look and let me know if you are interested!

  12. Honour "another" guy.....so you're saying 1C AND 3A? Or just 3A(this is what happens in RL...or usually 1C and 2A right? Something like that...). In terms of affecting the outcome, I don't really see how just appointing one of your Role Models as C(prob the one who is the best player) would be any different than keeping all of them as A. It prob wouldn't cost Anders too much time to make that change, but it doesnt seem to be worth it. Just my two cents.

The difference between a good C and not such a good C should be quite big, when it comes to playoffs etc. Having they guy in the locker room to cheer up your team even if you're about to lose the series should actually make a difference. (Take a look at some of the teams with strong captains versus the ones that don't, in NHL for example.) It shouldn't change the whole series, but give you just enough to take the one game and then maybe come back from there. (Could be introduced with the new p-off system.)

  13. Breakouts are

    SELLING

So, I'm going to get relegated from the GHL, want to get something in return for my good players with 1way contracts before the seasons end. I also have some really good players to offer for teams fighting for playoff-spot or winning the cup. I'll list below the players I'm looking to trade, but first what do I want? I want young players, without 1way contract, NAT or GIF mostly, or of lesser promise for my not so great trading assets. The talents I'm looking for mostly are PUC & PASS. I can also take some big 1way contracts of players you want to get rid of in return, since I will be dropping them anyways soon. Let's get started:

    Daniel Lindsay

    OVR 87

    SKA 98

    PASS 83

    PUCK 75

    SHO 95

    DEF 86

    PHY 99

    SPI 81

    END 94

    FO 74

Daniel has one of the best shots in the entire world, 95. Also his skating is up at 98 and his physical at 99. A deadly players that can play almost any role in the first line of almost any team. He has endurance to be on the ice for over 50% TOI and have training on hard, and still be green fit. He's 31 years old and is NAT, ENT. The reason he hasn't been doing so great in my team is probably due to low puck handling and the fact that my team is built on it. He has a cap hit of 8,875 mil and 1/1 years. He's resigning for less, I really thought I had to snag him from FA. I'd like a young NAT back in from him around his 80s.

    Asser Uotila

    OVR 83

    SKA 91

    PASS 88

    PUCK 84

    SHO 89

    DEF 72

    PHY 88

    SPI 67

    END 60

    FO 99

Asser is my 1st line center and has been getting it done ever since joining my team mid season from the FA. His passing, puck handling and shooting are up there with 91 in skating and 99 in FO. Something of his talent speaks that he's a point per game player in the lowest ranked team in GHL. He's CAP & ENT as well as a team players so low contracts for him in the future as well. He's 27 years of age and has 3/3 left in his 2,5mil contract. Would like to have a young NAT or GIF player in return.

    Stacy Goshorn

    OVR 83

    SKA 71

    PASS 84

    PUCK 82

    SHO 71

    DEF 92

    PHY 89

    SPI 97

    END 73

    FO 46

One of my top 2 d-men. Has really good defensive categories along with nice passing and puck handling to make him great 2 way defender. Has been producing decent points during every 4 seasons he's been playing for me. He's a NAT & ENT and 31 years of age (still developing). A great depth defender for a cup contender or solid top 4 defender for a play off push. Is in the final year of his contract and should be asking for less. Would like to have a GIF player back in exchange.

    Atte Kukkonen

    OVR 80

    SKA 98

    PASS 85

    PUCK 81

    SHO 74

    DEF 75

    PHY 61

    SPI 84

    END 88

    FO 84

Kukkonen is fast and has a good pass. He's been wandering around in my lineup, but has been sparking fire everywhere he's been going. A good rental player for the cup/p-offs.

    Loik Bernatchez

    OVR 81

    SKA 97

    PASS 82

    PUCK 89

    SHO 75

    DEF 71

    PHY 72

    SPI 71

    END 93

    FO 82

Another solid playmaker with feet faster than light. Last year of his contract so great rental player.

    Duran Gervais

    OVR 83

    REF 86

    POS 82

    PUCK-C 76

    PUCK-H 81

    ATH 94

    END 91

    SPI 63

Gervais has been my backup for the season, he has solid ratings but for some reason hasn't been able to perform on his level in my team.

    Elia Miettinen

    OVR 81

    SKA 79

    PASS 90

    PUCK 85

    SHO 81

    DEF 66

    PHY 80

    SPI 74

    END 76

    FO 90

Miettinen has been my 2nd line center. He's a good fit for a deep team 3rd line center definitely. He has a big contract, but I can take a big 1 way contract back in return.

So, that's what I have for offer. If you see any other players you are interested but were not listed here, feel free to ask about them or offer a trade. (If they were not included, it's because they are not my top players, in which case feel free; I'm hoping to score them out of their 1way contract, you can send an offer but I'd really like to hold on to them; they are not in a 1way contract, I really don't feel like letting those players go, but they can be bought, with a price though).

Hope you find something you like. I'll wait on the offers for a few days after this post, but 3 days from now, the best offers win and trades will be made.
