  1. The Breakouts are selling!

I'm staying in the SHL for at least another season, so it's time to start unloading my older players for teams that want to make it to the GHL, or stay in SHL. Anyone over 25 is fair game, just to give you few players to look out for here are the best of the best:

    Charles Gates - 25yo - 86 ovr

The building block of my team for 5 or 6 seasons now. Has the lead in SHL in points for the whole season, and has been in the top every season now. Will want a new contract in the likes of 2mil, which I cannot afford in the SHL. Current top bid is GHL 1st rounder (Minutemen), feel free to offer me your trade and we'll have a look at what happens.

    Eli Gore - 27yo - 82 ovr

A solid winger, who wants too much and doesn't really fit my future plans. Offer what you want, basically anything and he's yours for the rest of the season.

    Jack Fitzpatrick - 31yo - 85 ovr

Good SAH defender who makes points in PP and can hande himself in PK. Top 2 DEF in SHL for sure, even a fit for a GHL team. Looking for a younger defender / forward / pick. Goes low as well.

And all the other players are up for grabs for the right price.

  2. Don't agree at all to be honest. I think it's important to see player ratings, their development, traits etc. There's a reason the GHL picks are better than the rest, the players need to be way better in order to break into the league than let's say in to SHL. The prospect rankings are not that accurate, you should not trust them but go ahead and select players you think are going to be best. And shortlisting just 1 player per round is not enough.

Normally I go with 4-5 and just set them all as "1st rounders" so if all my 5 shortlisted first rounders are gone when it's my turn, the computer will select my second round picks, not some prospects based on the initial ranking.

    For your points:

    1. I think it's really great to have late round gems, really rewards the players who use the time to scour through the whole prospect pool, don't just take a look at few players and go with what feels the best.

    2. I agree it's hard to break into GHL and stay there, but eventually the teams over there will have to release some of their core players because of salary cap, and thus make room for new teams to compete. It's not only about prospects there.

    3. Well, this is mostly the same as #1, the GHL teams need the best prospects for them to be any good or ever have a chance of playing in the league.

4&5. Again these are mostly the same as before, I feel like the game should reward players who really put time into it and go through a lot of trouble while checking out every prospect, not just +-5 from their draft pick. And if we go with the logic no GM can put ratings on players, they shouldn't exist at all. It's not that much harder to put ratings on younger guys than older ones, when it comes to CBJ they needed a center and Dubois was the closest thing to a center.

    6. Didn't really understand what you were after.

    7. Just doesn't make any sense, cheaters would still cheat and aquire picks, even more than now since you couldn't tell which prospects were actually good, so you would need to hoard a lot of them to be sure you get at least one good guy in there.

  3. Senet, your locks were not because of automated kick system or anything like that, but because people reported you and you got locked.

    To Kummo:

You have been doing a lot of trades with the computer, and most of them have been clearly in your favor. Not the CPU team has been needing or that are on their trade-block, but players you don't want to have anymore.

  4. That's not the way to make way for new players tbh. You should plan in advantage and not sign long term contracts for players you cannot use in higher leagues. Trading away few players like that is fine, not your whole team like you have been doing now. Now you just unloaded dead weight from your team (that you had gotten yourself into) for a lot of draftpicks, just because the computers don't understand that.

  5. In my experience in few worlds, it's a lot better to have the guys play in higher leagues, if they can get good +/- and green ratings, they can develop a lot. My 1st overall pick developed by 2 ovr (78->80) and in the same time my prospects who were playing in the computer leagues only developed by 1 or 2 ovr, while being much lower than the guy who played on my team. Also they often ask for crazy little money for 8 or so years, so it's not a bad idea to just sign them for sitting purposes and maybe have them as a backup players in case of emergencies.

  6. One thing I have noticed is, if you have your team built using mostly the guys from the old team, you will dominate early season, then the others will start catching up. The way I see it is, your guys know their tactics and each other, so they play better than the teams that have a lot of new guys. Then when the other teams members start to get better at their tactics, they start to play better and thus you won't win as many games as before. (And we have seen crazy win streaks in NHL as well, and suddenly the teams start to lose a lot more.)

  7. The letting players go into FA pool can also sometimes be a better option financially. The players usually ask for the same base money when you are in BHL or SHL as they do in SHL or GHL respectively, but you do have more cap space available, so the promotion clause won't hurt you as bad (also players don't ask for it when you're in GHL). F.ex. I had a 2nd line center that was asking for 2,8mil+promotion contract when I was in SHL, but GHL teams could sign him for less actually (2,3mil if I'm not mistaken). But that's nothing official, just my own experience.

  8. To continue the trade thread, I'm looking for

    • SHL 2nd line 2way center, should be able to move the puck around and hold himself up defensively.
    • SHL top2 defender, a big defensive player who can move and keep the puck.

Take a look at my team and see if I have something you want in return. Not a lot of players are untouchable (the 1st overall pick center and Gates are the only ones atm). Send me a reasonable offer, with a pm in game, or respond here.

  9. That would never work with the people being from different time zones, and there being so many picks. I personally think the draft system is fine the way it is.

  10. The reason games are later every day is due to the servers not being able to handle all the traffic/information so they crash for few minutes each day, and the days changing take just a few minutes too much. Should be fixed some time into the future.

When it comes to signing new players, there's no set time when they respond, it depends on the offer you are giving them as well as their personality and other factors like that.

  11. Just quickly looking through your team, you have way too many players under contract. Try to cut the number of unnecessary players in the FA, and look for young talent with few veterans to boost them up.

The Loupret guy, did you sign him from free agentsy at day 59 or did you renew his contract? Either way, I wouldn't hold on to him for too long if I were you, he's already 35 years old. You better off giving the spot to a younger player who still can develop.
