  1. I like the idea of temporarily disabling it and giving it a trial run. Right now I think teams are properly competitive aside from the free agency imbalance but I don't know how to fix free agency, honestly, and I might just be salty because my account hasn't won any of the FAs yet. Computer trading always just ends up with teams stockpiling top picks.

Medicine Hat Tigers, SHL, looking for a backup defenseman. Don't care OVR, willing to trade similar level G or F on the affiliate team of mine.
  3. I want to see the Valks stick with it! You can make the GHL. I have faith. I was really rooting for you last season. We both came up through the SHL at about the same time, I just managed to auto promote, so I've always considered you like a sister team haha. Best of luck!
  4. Was this ever solved? I think I'm having a similar issue--Portland Steam, Lumber, GHL.
  5. This should solve my cap problems by releasing Noa Viziau: http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=18468 Thanks, Anders!
  6. Game World: LumberLeague: GHLTeam Name: Portland SteamDescribe the bug: Hi Anders & crew, I unintentionally have gone over the salary cap this season with Portland Steam in Lumber. What happened was I offered a contract to a forward (Noa Viziau) on Day 77 of the prior season and he did not accept it until the start of the next season. When he did, it put me over the salary cap as I had signed another forward (Peter Vais) in that time using the open space I had. It did not account for the space for Viziau's pending contract, which also was not listed in the 'Pending Contracts' under the Transfers tab. Now I'm also getting an error that says "Transfer Denied" when I try to offer extensions to Dennis Svanberg and Christopher Overman despite having cap space in the future.
  7. There is. It used to be visible ("Injury prone") but it was made a hidden trait a few updates ago.
  8. And of course I traded my first away and can't get one back!

Yeah, post was from way before playoffs--I think around like day 48 when I realized I was screwed.

Ditto to all of this involving Portland Steam, too. I think I've definitely given up already ;P
  11. At the very least, which is probably obvious here, trading or signing a bunch of new guys does seem to damper harmony/teamwork for a bit. The winner instinct thing boggles my mind because I've had a team go on win streaks or even on the way to promotion/BHL championship still have struggling winner instinct. The mechanic behind this is one that I really wish I understood better.
  12. Valleyview had an UNREAL season. Congrats on clinching the SHL by a landslide (and helping me auto-promote by beating the Valks)! Thanks so much for Igor "That Ukrainian Guy" Shrevnik (Shvernik? whatever his name is!). It's fun watching him grow and I've been doing my best to develop him--which is very helpful since developing prospects is hard when you're in a lower league. I must suck at drafting because mine usually don't pan out, but I'm good at making FA signings--Billy Billing went insane beast mode with Valleyview after I counted him out and had him playing fourth line minutes. But I'm very happy That Ukrainian Guy trade worked out with the SHL pick turning into a GHL one for ya. I was pretty thankful for that early Christmas present surprise, bud
  13. I feel sooooo bad for the Valkyries GM. Pushes and burns hard to make it up to the 2nd... sits kinda comfy atop a win streak (7 games!) at a crucial point versus the toughest competition, beats 'em, then ends up being overtaken in the standings AND eliminated in a sweep (while Portland auto-promotes and gets first overall!). Works for us both, Tuscon, but I do feel a little pity for the Valks!
  14. You might be able to! I think I was last seed last season and ended up facing the GHL relegation-threatened team. I was swept handily and absolutely destroyed (I think one loss was 9-2... ouch) BUT I was surprised to make it that far. If you do claw your way into facing the GHL teams, this might be a good season to have a solid chance at promotion. cheering for you, mate (just don't tell the Valkyries that).
  15. The cards fell just right with the schedules and I ended up with automatic promotion... I've never been happier! Been trying to fight up to the GHL for several seasons now, so managing that makes me absolutely giddy. If the manager of the Valkyries is reading this... holy cow, good competition there! If anyone hasn't checked the GHL... Portland beat out the Valkyries for automatic promotion by one point. The deciding factor came down to the absolute wire--we were tied on day 64 with the Valkyries in the 2nd position due to ROW, I was 2 points behind on day 65, and day 66 resulted in a victory where the Valkyries suffered a loss to the top team in the SHL (the red hot Valleyview--watch out GHL!). Arguably the best, closest season I've had yet. Definition of a nailbiter for sure.
  16. I've been trying to claw my way to an automatic GHL promotion for the past few seasons and this is my window... if not this season, I'm hoping for next since a lot of the same guys are returning for me. But you're absolutely right. I straight up cannot fathom how Valleyview managed the record they have (144 points!). It's astonishing. Kudos to that manager on pulling that record off. Right now I think I'm going to end up catching up to the Valkyries but being one point out of automatic promotion. I'm predicting that already--I lost a key game that put me behind, then lost again, a close one, to them. Biggest surprise right now is my defenseman leading the team in points and 10 pts ahead of the next highest scoring defenseman. Pretty happy I have him on a good contract. I think once we see things even out due to the balancing in how contracts work and stuff like that things will be a lot different and parity will be fixed a bit... but congrats on already being in a playoff spot your first SHL season! I was relegated my first SHL season on Mitts and it was a killer. Managed to have more success with Portland, fortunately.
  17. I've seen one team promoted via playoffs, and it's never been mine. Parity is getting so tight now that an SHL team beating a GHL team in the playoffs is nearly impossible unless they're a really terrible GHL team gutted by taking advantage of the AI or horrible management. I was wrecked in the playoffs after beating the 4th seed in the SHL for the right to play an AI GHL team. I was swept handily by more than 5 points each time. One of my losses was 9-2. The fact now is that bad teams aren't bad any more with player growth. Some hidden metric should be tweaked, IMHO, at least for SHL vs GHL, otherwise why bother? My team's winner instinct is trashed right now after an amazing comeback season because we were spanked in the last round of the playoffs. Great post though because I honestly agree. Like I said, I have seen it where the little guy wins, but I can't recall how often and it hasn't been me.
  18. Additionally, a "Last online (x) hours ago" would be great. It would help a lot with pre-season games, too, to be able to organize them with human managers by offering to ones who are more active instead of only having guaranteed NPC games. Adding another stat maybe, "Manager logs in frequently" would be a nice bonus to the trade window, too, if possible. Bigger perk to trading with players who are more active than ones who "Manager is rarely active". And then, "Manager has no life" for players like me who check hourly.
  19. Player is unhappy, final year in his contract, yet refuses to negotiate. Rating is 79 in the SHL. Is this now normal with the new update? Not that I necessarily need this guy, but another guy is doing the same thing and I'd like to keep him at least. He was willing to negotiate before the update and now has changed his mind.
  20. So if guys are getting yellow ratings but are averaging PPG, should I keep them in my line-up despite yellow performance ratings? Or, by the metrics of the game, are they performing at a rate that hurts the team more than helps despite their PPG production? For some reason, even though I'm like ten seasons into the game, this season I'm REALLY struggling and shouldn't be.
  21. This issue seems mostly to be a mobile thing. It's spelled out on the game summaries on desktop, but on mobile it's the POR vs POR.
  22. This is more of a minor quibble, but since the Porter Renegades were promoted in Mitts to the SHL, there's now two 'POR' teams. It makes reading game summaries between Portland and Porter a little confusing, and in a few other areas as well. I don't know what distinction could be made (PTR, PTL or PORT for one?) but it would be nice to see one in cases like this. Makes things a wee bit easier on us.
  23. Means the player has really broken out lately, usually improving in rating significantly. It'll 'reveal' itself once the player begins to impress your assistants or improves on his own. An older, crappy goaltender who was maybe 34 was labeled a late bloomer and led the league that year. Not sure what the age range is to designate 'late bloomer' either. I had a 26 year old get the designation and I figured he would be considered in his prime.
  24. I weirdly like the idea of not being able to filter by (foreign) league they play in and manually having to 'scout' yourself. I think it's much more rewarding that way because it gives you a chance to find a gem buried on some random team in the Swedish Hockey League or something. A lot of my top guys are ones I've found in the RUHL or different leagues on some of the less known teams and I love it because it makes the world feel 'bigger' rather than having a sheet of all available players in the world that you can just click through and filter one league at a time. However, I very much agree that you should have the option to filter out players that are absolutely not interested or ones that are already signed to one-way contracts with a higher level team. Especially when browsing the trading block, this becomes a PITA. As for marking what league a player currently is in, this is something else I've wanted for a while. I'd love to see, for example, a player have (SHL) next to the Portland Steam underneath their name in the drop down window. It's hard to keep track of what team is in what league, especially when names are being changed whenever a team comes under new ownership.
  25. Depends on the league they're coming from. Players from the RUHL, I've found, will usually request quite high salaries even if their rating is lower. It's because they've played at a higher level and are considered more 'valuable'. Generally they won't take a discount to sign for a player team, either. And, another thing I've learned, is that rating really doesn't mean too much. I have a player who's an 83 OVR who struggles on the first or second lines but is crazy good on the PK. Likewise, I've had a 72 OVR goalie perform better than an 80 OVR goalie. I really can't explain it, but I've taken almost entirely to drafting/signing based on past performance and not OVR. Because he's a younger guy, he's going to ask for more money, too. So if he's coming from the RUHL at age 21 with a 70 OVR, 225K isn't too crazy. Chances are, you'll be able to sign him for less than that, too. The closest I can compare to your situation is a player that was signed from the CHHL for 210,000, rating 73 or 74, at age 21. I figure your guy must be coming from the RUHL, otherwise he's just a greedy little jerk.
