  1. How'd the season turn out for you guys?

My goal was to make the playoffs this first season in the GHL. Finished 6th so I've got a first round matchup against Hazard Blizzard. Went 2-1-0-1 against them on the season, but he added Keller from Natashquan on the backend so it's going to be competitive. Regardless of how this season turns out it'll be good playoff experience for my young roster. Hoping that is actually a factor and not just something we've all just convinced ourselves of otherwise it's probably better to land outside the playoffs unless you have an actual chance of winning... That's a discussion for another day though, how was everyone's season?

  2. Yeah there is a definite issue with the development screen. The career graphs a really messed up as well. I didn't even both scouting last seasons draft since there was no accurate data for their age 15 season. This happened in the last version as well and Anders never really got on top of it.

  3. Just over 10 games into the season and I'm pretty happy with how my team is performing in the GHL so far.

I've had to do a little bit of juggling while trying to find a suitable left winger for my top line. Besides that my center depth is looking strong and my top 6 is driving the bus offensively.

Biggest signs of youth with my team is coming on the backend with my D-core. Performance wise I only have two defenseman in the green. I've got a very curious case in my defenseman Cussons. He's been my lowest rated defenseman the last three seasons (currently only 82 overall) but has been consistently one of my best performing defenseman. He was absurdly almost a point a game defenseman in his 20 game GHL stint at the end of season 4 when my team was last place in the GHL, then put up 60 points in 80 games in the SHL last season. He's currently playing at a 75 performance rating in the GHL. I don't think I've ever had a player like him in that he's so average ability wise but performs so well.

How's it going for everyone else?

How in the world did you get that many highly skilled young players without being in the GHL. SHL drafts haven't gotten me much, and even my 2nd round GHL picks aren't over low 80s.

Started my rebuild in the GHL, demoting and promoting twice while amassing assets. I brainstormed a couple different ways I could rebuild or reconstruct the team when I came back to the game in season two. My impression was that if I was patient enough and executed it properly a four season rebuild was the way to go. Ended up with two first overall picks from promoting and in trading away all my GHL picks I managed to accumulate about 25 draft picks over the four drafts.

I am looking forward to facing your team, Wick. Following a similar template to yours (though with comparatively inferior players so far). Well done on assembling an impressive young squad, topped by Pattenaude falling to you this season.

That said, my core took me straight to the GHL from the LIHL, with 4 straight seasons of finishing 1st, so I have plenty of confidence in staying competitive - especially after pulling in my new franchise G in Alenin.

I honestly have far more respect and impressed by the feat of bringing up a team from the LIHL to the GHL in five seasons than I do the rebuild I did over the last four. Any manager can amass assets, pulling it off requires hitting on your picks but if you put any good measure of time into scouting you can likely do that. It's a whole other level of managing to continually promote season after season, hats off to you Alex.

  5. So far Buzzer hasn't gained the same traction as Cage for game world communication but hopefully it'll start to turn.

I'm back up in the GHL now. Coming out of my four season rebuild and hopefully ready to compete. I've got my stretch goal for this season being the playoffs but with such a young roster I don't think it's out of the question that my team under performs to my expectations.

I've got the core of my team constructed now. When the new season starts I'll have nine players below the age of 22 that are over 87 overall, four of which are above 90 overall. I'll be looking to fill out the edges of my roster in free agency and then continue to build through the draft over the next few seasons to hopefully build a roster that can consistently contend for a title.

  6. Can we please do away with this "Playoff 1" "Playoff 2" business for where a team finished their season? I have no idea if playoff 1 or 2 is a first round exit or what. And I'm almost 100% certain that playoff 2 is a first round exit which makes absolutely zero sense. Could we not switch it to "Round 1", "Round 2", "Round 3", and then "Lost in GHL Cup final" or "Golden Cup Winner" depending on result.

It's such a minor detail but when looking at other teams it takes so much away by not being able to decipher some abstract description of how they did in the playoffs.

  7. I think for drafting, straight up listing the total overall should not be added.  Part of drafting irl or in games is supposed to be kinda iffy cause not every player will work out.  What I would suggest, is either add a scout option like other games where it gives you a rough idea but you only know for sure if your scout scouts them more.  Idk if that would be hard to program or not.

If that would be difficult, then my alternative is to list individual attribute overalls, but leave their total overall completely hidden.  I agree that sorting through them takes a lot of time, but if everyone already knows the player overall, then it will be the best players going first, and you get shafted lower down.

I still think that kinda having hidden gems makes the draft fun, as well as the uncertainty of if there was a better option if you didn't do your homework.

I honestly don't think being able to rank by overall would impact anything. The key about the draft is the players development rates, not what their overall is at the time of the draft. There could be two players around the same ranking: Player A is 85 overall and Player B is 83 overall. If Player A started the game as a 15 year old with 75 overall while player B came in at 60 overall, that means player B has developed at a far greater rate.

Properly scouting the draft should get you some idea of where players will be a couple seasons down the line, that's where you're really drafting for, especially if you're a GHL team.

That's why I don't see any issue with being able to rank overall. An export function would be a massive asset because even for managers that don't have formulas put into their spreadsheets, having players ratings on the same page is a far more efficient way for comparison than going back and fourth between pages.

  8.

#2, totally agree, but was trying to keep 2 things in mind.  First, sometimes managers just don't have a lot of free time to do much research due to real life obligations.  In those circumstances it would at least be nice to offer some way of exporting base information such as player overalls.  Also I think managers who put in the work should still get rewarded, but it would be cool to shave off some time and trim it down, say from 15 hours to 5 or 10.  Right now to thoroughly review the draft takes too many hours.

If nothing else was improved despite adding an export function that goes directly to a spreadsheet it would still be one of the best updates we've seen in this game. Manually putting in prospect information is what eats so much time in regards to "scouting". I've got it down to about 5 minutes per player. Though when it's 100-150 players being tracked every draft that's 12 and a half hours alone just putting the players into the database.

Adding an export function wouldn't cheat the managers that do the extra work because you still have to follow through and actually build the database of players and put in the time assessing it and compiling your own rankings. It would just lift a massive time investment off of those that already do it and maybe make the process more approachable to managers that don't scout the draft in depth.

  9. This ended up happening at the end of version 1.0 and it was kind of just left and not addressed but it was fine for the first few seasons in version 2.0. This new crop of draft eligible players in Buzzer are only showing their current seasons development and last seasons. They are missing their first season of development from when they entered the game.

For example the top rated player Tino Willis has played in season 5 (current, 17 years old), 4 (last season, 16 years old) and 3 (two seasons ago, 15 years old). Except is career development page only shows this season 16-17 and last season 15-16, and then the curve starts at 15. It should start at 14 because day 1 of the new season after the season 14 cutoff the player is now 15 and shows his development history for that season.

Regardless, the bug is that we are missing the development for players in their 15 year old season.

    • Describe the bug

Trying to put a trade through, both teams have more than 2 million in cap space both this season and next season after the deal is put through. But when I try to accept it I am redirected back to the transfer home page and am given the message "Not so fast! something is wrong... Salary Cap Reached. Trade offer could not be accepted."

Even on the trade offer page there is no warning of the salary being over so I presume it is a bug.

  10. I was thinking about it when coming back to the game but almost four months for a season would have been too long for me. I feel like the 12 hour simulation is perfect to still be on top of everything while having the season progress at a good pace.

If Anders ever introduced an 8 hour day game world that would be heroin. I'd flunk out of school

  11. It's draft day ladies and gentleman! Goodluck to everyone. Hopefully your guy goes with your pick, unless it's someone I'm aiming to take in which case I hope your draft list bugs out.

Starting the season 5 general chat at the draft since I always view that as the first point leading into the new season. Mainly because I haven't sniffed a playoff game in the new version of GPHM.

I'm gonna try and have Buzzer a bit more engaged next season. Won't go to the extent of power rankings like in Howitzer but I'll think of things here and there to stimulate discussions.

  12. Unless it is actually a bug, the only reason it would have been accepted straight away is if he was on a trial account and not activated him account to a full subscription yet. Happened to me when I started with this team and hadn't paid for the subscription yet. Was sent an offer and it was automatically accepted.

  13. Thanks for clarifying that. I had two 87+ players in the SHL last season as 18 year olds and they didn't have any lapses with what I projected their development to be. But if I'm back down next season my franchise cornerstone will be 93-94 overall and I'd hate to lose a year of progress during his prime development years.

I'm in season three of my rebuild and the two shots at first overall through promotion picks are the main reason I decided to go the relegation route with rebuilding. At the start of season six (buzzer) I'm going to do a full write up on my rebuild. Keeping it in tune to how I normally put out my write ups but I figured with the amount of notes that I keep on everything I do with this game I'll be able to offer a good perspective on this route of building a roster that can offer good insight for other managers.

I completely agree with you on the topic of SHL teams with the potential to promote trading their picks. I've made those trades twice now with this franchise but as with all my trades there is a really open dialogue with the team I'm trading with and I make sure the manager is aware that I believe they'll be able to promote. I think managers are getting better about it. When I speak to teams that are shoo-ins to promote they don't even entertain the idea of trading that pick. Whereas if I approach a manager that's in the middle of the pack in the standings they're more willing to take the players for a chance at promoting and as a result give up their pick.

  14. Does anyone know if the development of a 90+ overall player decreases if they are in the SHL? I know that players development decreases if they're over a certain overall and placed on the affiliate team. Is it the same though for a player on their entry level deal if they are on a team that is relegated?

  15. In Buzzer teams are releasing their players at the end of the season that they aren't going to resign. That' fine because it allows managers to get a good look at their cap situation heading into next season. But the way it currently stands in the game those players are immediately signed to extensions by other teams and will not be apart of silly season.

That seems like it defeats the purpose of having a start of season signing period if at the end of the season when teams release these players that would be available during that time but instead they already all have extensions in place.

There should be a hold on signing players outside of your roster I'd say when the transfer deadline takes effect until silly season opens. You can still sign your own guys, but if a player is released they should not be allowed to sign with another team until the first day of the new season.

  16. Congrats Bouncer,

Felt like the whole season that your team should have been sitting higher in the standings than it was. Just waiting for the right time to take a run I guess
