  1. What a frustrating way to end both Buzzer and Cage seasons. Both teams got to the finals and then wigged out and lost their minds. Even more irritating is that 90% of the Buzzer season we were ranked #2 until injuries and Goalie meltdowns occurred. C'est la vie - contracts are lookin even better this next season, for both teams, and we should be even more established going into next season.

Sad to see that you came so close in Buzzer, but a lot rests on goaltending, so if your G chooses to be shit, that is unfortunately not something you can control.

Looking forward to syncing up our teams again for promotion next season in CHL.

  2. Looking to pick up a 1st round GHL pick for salary reasons, preferably Top 10.

Any player(s) on my roster that are not Untouchable are available. Standouts include F Isaksen (90 OVR) and F Iliff (89 OVR), both excellent and high-performing Powerforwards.

  3.

You both can rest easy, for the 'Cats are built to win *for* the next 3-4 seasons.

Curses. Can't believe I've been doing it wrong this entire time.

  4. The #1 Union sweep the Duhawks and the #4 Red Tide sweep the Nightmares, which sets up a Battle of the Titans in Round 2.  Union currently lead 2-0, but I'd be surprised if the Tide don't make a push in game 3 to extend the series.

It is certainly an enjoyable run - the Union is a strong team that directly counters my playstyle, so while we will fight until the last drop, it is a tough matchup.

That said, my team was built to win in the next 3-4 seasons, all key players are signed long-term, and I am impressed with their play (and balls) this year. The offence has been dominant throughout the entire season. If we fall here, I will still consider it a success.

  5. Since (most) of us can take a good joke on here, it'd be great to also see more creative awards.  For instance, rookie of the year would be a good legit one for a player that is in his first season in GHL (no matter the age) who leads in points or whatever stats you want to toss in.

Some other funny ones could be:

    Best/Worst Goals Per $ spent

    Worst Plus/Minus

Swiss Cheese Award for Goalie that meets minimum games played requirement (~10) and lowest Save %

Broken Stick Award for the player with the most Giveaways

Open to other suggestions, but whatever award people come up with, please explain your methodology just so we know.

I'm in. Will happily nominate my backup G this season for that Swiss Cheese award).

  6. Hear, hear - very good statement, Paul. I must say that I agree with everything - and a lot of respect to managers who commit long-term and stay with their squads through relegation. This will make eventual wins all the better.

Looking forward to GHL newcomers as well. Entering a new league and establishing a new team and relationships/rivalries with new managers is one of the parts of GPHM I enjoy most.

  7. Sounds good. The only problem is that they will probably dissapear once players are retired and if we want to create legacy - might be better to have something that will stay permanently :)

speaking of that, why can't I link a picture here... :/

I'm 100% behind the legacy aspect - building the history of the world is what makes this awesome.

If you can grab the images and store them on an external site (i.e. Imgur), I can link them back in here. Team effort ;)

  8. Clemens Andresen was robbed! Sad!

It's the Karlsson dilemma - is it given to pure offensive defencemen, or should actual defensive skill be rewarded?

We may need to split the trophy into Best Offensive Defenceman and Best Defensive Defenceman.

  9. Awesome work!  I was thinking about doing something similar, but I'm glad someone beat me to it.

Great to see a Leopard win one.  Helluva season, Souders!

Definitely had to be done! Few surprises with some of the winners and runner-ups for sure. Souders was one for me, but well deserved. That is the beauty of hockey.

  10. The easiest way would be to add links to player pages beside their names. I can go through and do that, at least for the winners.

Great idea and great work. I would suggest that we add screenshots of players, at least overview.

I can crop them so you can fit them easily.

  11. I agree that +/- is always questionable, but the NHL does take it into account, hence I did the same here.

I had to take PTS into calculation, because only the Top 20 players in any category are visible through GPHM - would be nearly impossible to narrow down the right candidates without using PTS as a baseline of sorts.

  12. With the end of the season here, I decided to create an awards list for best players in GHL Cage, using NHL template as example - to make it more of a lived-in world, and simply because I think the players deserve some individual recognition for all the work they have done for us this season.

Calculations are shown where relevant. Runner-ups for each category are also included. Enjoy!

*Notes: Calculations may not be entirely accurate due to limited visibility and inability to sort by position in GPHM stats format - if anyone sees mistakes, let me know and I will fix.

  13. Would be very good to have an Achievement system within the game to add detail and set smaller goals during the season for managers aside from winning the league/cup.

Examples (Each of these would be worth X manager experience points):

    1) Win 10 games

    2) Score 5 goals in a game

    3) Have a player score 30 goals a season

    4) Have a player score 100 goals for the club

    5) Finish top 3 in league season

A screenshot of how Football Manager does it is attached.

This is a proven system in other sims, and it encourages active player participation, as well as the ability to compare yourself with other managers on a much more detailed level.

Finally, this would also be a much more accurate measure of manager reputation. More achievements/experience = higher reputation. Keep still the reputation that is based on placement but allow for greater variety based on gameplay.

  14. Paul, I can tell you that before the reset, I switched tactics every game to hard counter the opposition tactic. The results were decent - I moved up from IHL to GHL promoting every 1st/2nd season, and was in 2nd place before the reset, with a great record.

My lineup at the time was very good - perhaps top 3 in the league, so I would assume that addressed some of the shortcomings with players not fitting tactics.

With that said - this season, I built my team around a tactic and have not switched from it since, and I have similar success. So...looks like my answer to your question is, at best, uncertain ;).

  15. Would be fantastic to have a section under "League" that shows the current records for that league, for both players and teams.

    For example:

    Current champion

    Most points by team

    Most goals by team

Most goals in a season by player

Most points in a season by player

    Etc etc

In my opinion, this is a crucial feature for those of us who love stats and want to measure ourselves against other managers and hit league records while moving up through leagues. Plus gives a lot better visibility to managers' achievements other than cups - which is something that is currently missing.

  16. Thanks for the clarification, Anders. My team has been on Offensive most of the season, so that seems to make sense. I am curious whether the measure of team confidence has an impact on team performance, though. My team has won something like 18/20 games while in Crisis, so at first glance, Team Confidence does not appear to play a large role.

  17. Any word on this? I thought my team, in 4th place, was in bad shape with being Anxious but I play Rasputin’s killer team today and his team is in Crisis. I envision their locker room to be like that scene in Anchor Man where all the news crews start a fight and Brick kills a guy with a trident.

My players clearly bet against their own team at the beginning of the season. If LIHL is anything like Russian lower leagues, they're getting visits from strange men in Adidas tracksuits right about now.

  18. ^With Paul on the above points. I have had two 18 year old prospects and 2 younger D-men increase by 1 point - that is all so far. You can track progress on the Ratings tab.
