In Hockey Dynasty, we could tag players as available or untouchable. We could also highlight what type of players we're looking for. So far, we've got that here in GPH as well. The additional thing was that we could enforce our needs/wants by choosing an option that would block all other users from including our untouchable players or players from their team that didn't fit our needs/wants criteria.

For example, I could say that I'm looking for a Top Line Center and enforce that. The system would automatically disallow other users from including Centers that are not Top Line worthy based on MY current team.

Obviously, there is some room for concern as well, since we may be looking for a certain attribute in a player.....but the computer will continue to enforce our needs/wants criteria based on whatever equation is being used by the developer.

A workaround for that would be to allow us to specify certain attributes(Examples -> Shooting of at least 85, Ovr of at least 90) in our needs/wants criteria instead of just the general "Top Line Center", etc.

It would be nice to have preset vacations if you need to take one. For example, in a couple days i have to go on a 3 day school trip. If i let my GM do a regular vacation, my team will be trading everyone while im gone. In order to fix this i need to turn everyone on untradable. This is going to be a pain, so it could be cool if we could add a screen where you can take a vacation, set if you want assistant to do trades and signings or not, set if assistant edits lines, and set if assistant rotates goalie. Thoughts?

    2002 NHL DRAFT PREVIEW

In this post, we will preview the top-10 for the upcoming NHL entry draft. The Thrashers will be picking first, the Blue Jackets second, and the Predators third.

    1. Darcy Sutter, LW (6'1 177) from Canada
Sutter is undoubtly the top pick for this draft. He is great at everything, has top-notch speed and hands, is incredibly mature for his age and can play in all situations. We could see him becoming a key 1st liner for any time that drafts him.
    2. Kalle Sala, C (6'3 192) from Finland
The Fin center could be an home-run pick for the second team to talk at the draft table. He has amazing offensive abilities, can shoot the puck extremely well and make plays out of nothing. Will need to upgrade his skating a little bit.
    3. Boyd Long, RW (6'3 210) from Canada
Long is a big power forward that loves to crash the net and fight. He has good hands and agility that allow him to score goals in tight, or make plays on the rush. He is the kind of guy teams love to place on their top-line to create havoc next to finesse players.
    4. Matt Plaxton, C (6'2 194) from Canada
Amazing playmaker with great vision, Plaxton moves very well on the ice and and can do a lot of different stuff every shift.
    5. Grigori Lyapunov, D (6' 177) from Russia
The top D in this draft, Lyapunov is an excellent skater that plays the body well and can be physical. He is extremely smart and always makes the right plays. He has good enough skills that he can join the rush and make solid outlet passes.
    6. Joe Bowen, LW (6'2 215) from Canada
Bowen is a guy that just does everything well, but still needs to work on his defensive game a little bit. He is big and skilled and knows how to score goals.
    7. Manny Inward, LW (6'1 203) from Canada
Inward is an all-out offensive player with amazing speed and hands of gold. He can snipe from anywhere in the offensive zone, but will need to upgrade his two-way play.
    8. Shawn Levins, RW (6' 198) from Canada
Here is another offensive guy that needs work defensively. He is finesse player with a good arsenal of shots and is a great skater.
    9. Joe Wahler, D (5'11 201) from Canada
A smart defenseman that is considered a defensive-minded guy, he does all the little things well. He is always well positioned, he can hit, fight and defend extremely well.
    10. Anatoli Antipov, RW (5'8 167) from Russia
A very small winger with a ton of skills, Antipov plays with an edge that allows him to make space around the net to score goals. He is a solid skater and understands the two-way game.

Chris reacted to Julianosaur in Freeware EHM throwback Nashville dynasty - Free the Sabercat!
I always liked the freeware version of EHM and had the urge to play it again recently. After toying with a couple of story ideas, here is what I came up with. I will be playing with the default rosters and settings of the game, starting with the 2001-02 season, taking control of the Nashville Predators. Here we go!

The Nashville Predators hockey club has appointed Austin Killer as their new general manager. David Poile, who has been with the team since they came into the NHL in 1998, had to resign due to personnal reasons. The Predators, being a product of NHL expansion, still having a pretty weak roster, didn't receive a ton of interest in their vacant GM position. Killer, a 27 years old Harvard alumni hailing from the state of Minnesota, has a background in politics. His hockey curriculum includes pond hockey all-star, minor league assistant coach and more recently, part-time scout for the Harvard hockey program.

Local media are saying he won the job through his father's connection with team owner Craig Leipold.

    A LITTLE BACK STORY

The state of Tennesse was fortunate enough to enter the brotherhood of the top hockey league in the world when the Predators were awarded a hockey club, to start play in the Fall of 1998. The city had tried to lure the New Jersey Devils to their brand new arena back in 1995, but the plan fell through. NHL commissionner Gary Bettman later announced that Nashville would headline a new dawn of NHL expansion, starting with the Predators, followed by hockey clubs in Atlanta, Minnesota and Columbus. David Poile and Barry Trotz were quickly named general manager and head coach.

Once a name and logo was decided on, Nashville took part in the expansion draft, in which they were able to select one player from each existing NHL franchises (26). Players selected included Andrew Brunette, Scott Walker, Uwe Krupp, Al Iafrate, and Mike Richter, although the latter three never played a game for the Predators. The team also participated in the NHL entry draft, drafting David Legwand with the 2nd overall pick. Legwand is considered by many the current franchise player of the hockey club.

They finished the 1998-99 season second-last in the West with a 28-47-7 record, and proceeded to select goaltender Brian Finley 6th overall in the draft. They also had accumulated five 2nd-round picks, choosing Jonas Andersson, Adam Hall, Andrew Hutchinson, Ed Hill and Jan Lasak.

The team barely improved In 1999-2000, finishing with a record of 28-40-7-7, for last in the West. At the draft table, they picked Scott Hartnell 6th overall, and Daniel Widing 36th.

For their 3rd NHL season, the team led by Barry Trotz finally improved, finishing 10th in the West with 80 points. In the 2001 NHL draft, they chose defenseman Dan Hamhuis 12th overall as well as Timofei Shishkanov and Tomas Slovak in the second round.

Which brings us to now. GM Austin Killer has decided to keep Trotz on board, and the team head coach has just made the finishing cuts to end the club's 2001 training camp. It is worth noting that Killer made as many as three free agent acquisitions after being hired, in order to let some of the younger players of the organisation further develop in the minors. Those acquisitions are forwards Todd Warriner, Aaron Gavey and John MacLean. Also, after training camp was over, he dealt goaltender Mike Dunham to Calgary for young center Marc Savard, who is slated to pivot the Predators' 2nd line this year.

Killer said: ''It is imperative that the kids are not rushed to the NHL. This is the franchise's 4th year in this league, but I do not feel that we are ready yet to compete for a playoff spot. We are still building for the future. We have some great pieces, like David Legwand, Scott Hartnell and Tomas Vokoun, who has been giving the reigns with the departure of Dunham. I feel as though this is a transition year for us. We could be competiting to make the playoffs starting next year, in the 2002-2003 season, but that is still a long way from now.''

Killer has said he plans on dealing some of his veteran players for picks and youngsters during the upcoming playing season.

Here is Trotz' final roster - your 2001-02 Nashville Predators, boasting a payroll of only $26,54M :

    #7 LW Cliff Ronning
    #43 LW Vitalii Yachmenev
    #17 LW Scott Hartnell

    Traded for McDavid

Detroit, MI--  On Saturday night the Red Wings pounded the Bruins in Boston 8-4 but the real news came from the front office.

General Manager Rick Watkins completed a deal with the New York Islanders to acquire what will in all likelihood be the number one overall pick in the 2014 NHL entry draft.

This move puts the Wings in the position to select super prospect Connor McDavid.
“The top of this years’ entry draft is loaded and we’re very excited to have secured a spot among the top three teams making selections.” Watkins said when asked about the trade.

The deal doesn’t come without critics as the team had to send their 2015 first and second round picks and 2016 first round pick to the Islanders along with prospect William Nylander and minor leaguer Tomas Jurco. Nylander was a first round pick last year and many scouts are saying he also has the potential to be a top talent in the coming years. Jurco has spent the last three seasons in Grand Rapids. The Red Wings expected his skills to eventually translate to NHL talent but he’s stalled in the minors.

ESPN NHL analyst Barry Melrose had this to say of the trade “Its not a surprise to me that it took this kind of package for Detroit to secure the number one overall pick. McDavid is a once in a lifetime prospect. That being said the Wings had to part with a lot of future potential in players and picks, we’ll see if it hurts them in the long run.”

General Manager Rick Watkins to this point in his tenure had the benefit of a very solid roster since having taken over at the beginning of last season. This trade will undoubtedly shape his legacy as top executive in the Red Wings organization. Full details of the drade below.

     receive:
LW Tomas Jurco, RW William Nylander, 2015 1st and 2nd round picks, 2016 1st round pick

    receives:
NY Islanders’ 2015 1st round pick

Hi, I would love to include national teams. But I can't say when because it hasn't highest priority at the moment. The next releases will include youth draft and affiliation teams. But this next release will also include non-playable european leagues and teams so maybe it can be squeezed in or included shortly thereafter.

Chris reacted to rainsilent in Changes in Trade values [Adjusted in v1.2.2-beta]
It is a bad contract in terms of player age+length when player skill is also taken into account. Could you imagine a NHL team signing a PA Parenteau, Patrik Berglund or Benoit Puliot like player to a 8 year deal then after 1 year trying to trade him? No other NHL team would want to take him due to the very bad length of the contract for the kind of player he is. The only time a contract longer than 4 or 5 years can and should be seen as good is when it is a top end player and the salary isn't over the top. The player I mentioned is not by any stretch a top player and is at best a good 2nd line option and on top of it he will not grow which makes the very long contract that much less appealing. A 5 year contract for the player I showed should be seen as the extreme high to a good contract. That is why 7 or 8 depending upon how you look at it is a bad contract for that kind of player.

Also why are so many 1 year contracts being labeled as bad? 1 year contracts are highly sought after in trades in real life for a reason.

    My roster example:
    http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=14758
I'm not trying to say this player should have high value in the trade market as he shouldn't but it should not say bad contract situation. It is a 1 year very cheap contract. That is the kind of contract that is coveted in real life trades.

All that being said the change to see what changes the value is really nice.

The Islanders powerplay led them to a 3-0 lead early in the 2nd, but the Flyers managed to pull themselves back into the game before Nick Leddy beat Mason shortside and off the post to give the Islanders a 4-3 lead. Brock Nelson scored an empty netter to seal the win. Scott Laughton was credited with a goal after the puck hit Nick Leddy and beat Halak and Matt Read notched his first two of the season to get that monkey off of his back, but the rest of the Flyers offense was silent.

Super Basket Manager 2016 is a free game in which you take control of a basketball team in a professional league for several seasons. Build your own dinasty.

Now SBM 16 is much more faster than SBM 15 and have new features, like All Stars.

You can do your lineup, trade players, sign free agents, designate your stars and see the stats of all the players and teams.
Use the draft to get new stars in the league. Take a good look at them in summer league.
Our goal is not to make an ultra-realistic game, but a simple game that is easy to use and allows to feel the sensation of carrying a team to win a ring.

This is the humble work of three friends in his spare time. We don’t have the resources of big studios, but we have tons of illusion. Keep this in mind when judging the game, please, and remember we will try to improve it from time to time, it’s a “continous game”, not a finished one.

Hannah Storm: And with the Stanley Cup finals set we bring in NHL guru Barry Melrose to break it down for us, Barry we’ve got the Detroit Red Wings out of the east and the Dallas Stars out of the west. Barry let's talk about how these two teams got here, first the Red Wings. Barry Melrose: Well Hannah the Wings got here by completely changing their game plan once the playoffs began and it's a good thing they did. They entered the playoffs dead on arrival after a terrible March campaign despite being relatively healthy and cruising through the middle part of the season. Mike Babcock turned their game plan upside down and got them playing more of a fore checking and neutral zone style of play. The amount that opposing teams are able to skate the puck into the Red Wings zone has drastically reduced and the whole team is playing much more of a two way game. You know the loss of Datsyuk and Nyquist, no body in their right mind would have had the Wings coming out of the first round much less winning the east with two of their top line guys going down but here they are thanks to a new coat of paint on their strategies and the leadership of guys like Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall, have them in the inals. HS: And as the adage goes a hot goaltender can carry a team through the playoffs. Tell us about Detroit’s net minding. BM: Absolutely Hannah as I was going on and on about how the Wings have changed their game and become a more defensive team you can’t leave out Brian Elliott and the way he’s played. Absolutely put up a wall these playoffs. He’s like a man possessed since the end of the regular season… And ya know it's not like these guys don't hear the press and read the papers. You know Elliot saw what the Detroit writers were saying and now he’s out there on the ice proving us media types wrong, challenging the shooters and making good decisions with the puck. This series is going to come down to which team can be tighter defensively and allow the fewest scoring chances so if the Red Wings are going to lift the cup for the twelfth time, Brian Elliot is going to have to continue to be solid. HS: Thanks Barry, we’ll have you back later in this episode of Sports Center to preview the Dallas Stars.

    Welcome Home Lord Stanley!
Detroit, MI- As confetti fell from the ceiling and fireworks rang out inside Joe Lewis Arena the Detroit Red Wings skated with the Stanley Cup held above their heads for the twelfth time in franchise history. In a season of many ups a downs the team was held together by their veterans specifically Niklas Kronwall and Henrik Zetterberg, who fittingly were the first two players to lift the silverware on Monday night; the Conn Smyth trophy for playoff MVP for Kronwall and the Stanley Cup for Zetterberg. At the beginning of the season the Red Wings suddenly lost their general manager and the architect of the team. Since then they’ve had to endure rumors of their coach leaving at the end of the season, numerous injuries to key contributors like Pavel Datsyuk and Gustav Nyquist, and they still stand atop the hockey mountain hardware in hand.  “This is amazing!!” Zetterberg was nearly at a loss of words in post-game celebration on the ice. “All these guys have worked so hard to get here…  We all knew this team was capable of getting to this point and now to be here it’s just amazing!” “Coming here this season it’s been a new experience but this is a top notch franchise and I’m so proud to be a part of it and to have been able to make my mark.” Goaltender Brian Elliot added from the post-game press conference. “That’s it, I’m done! Count me as retired as of right now.” Todd Bertuzzi chose the on ice celebration as the best time to announce his retirement. The big winger will be forty in a month and decided to leave the game on top. Kronwall was selected as the recipient of the Conn Smyth award thanks in large part to his other worldly plus 24 playoff rating. As the offense sputtered at the end of the regular season the leader of the Wings’ blue line rallied his fellow defensemen and they stepped up as a unit. Goalie Brian Elliot finished the playoffs with a sub 2.00 GAA rating thanks in large part to the stellar play in front of him.  “It’s huge, winning the Smyth.” Kronwall said about his latest award. “To now be mentioned along with other greats of this team like Lidstrom and Yzerman… It means a lot.” Before the regular season many projected the Wings’ roster to be a year or two away from competing for a Stanley Cup. Then the team was thrown for a loop when long time general manager Ken Holland stepped aside from day to day operations due to health concerns. Rick Watkins filled in as interim GM but most hockey pundits thought the leadership fluctuation at the top of the club would yield uncertainty throughout the organization.  Watkins though steadied the ship and made his mark when he traded away longtime premier net minder Jimmy Howard for scoring winger Valdimir Tarasenko, goalie Brian Elliot and draft picks.  The move worked out but the interim GM came under fire as the team hit a long losing streak in April after a trade deadline day which saw the franchise choosing not to make any moves. Despite the late season swoon Detroit is atop the mountain again thanks to an amazing playoff run.  Now team owner Mike Ilitch will have a decision to make if he wants to stick with Watkins or search the market to see if there may be a higher profile candidate available for the position of general manger. Series Recap: Game 1: Red Wings 3 – Stars 1Game 2:  Red Wings 4 – Stars 3Game 3: Stars 2 – Red Wings 1Game 4: Stars 2 – Red Wings 3 Game 5: Red Wings 1 – Stars 3Game 6: Stars 1 – Red Wings 5
