    Hi,

I'm a game developer interested in sports managers. A couple of my friends and me created a basketball game. What makes the game stand out is the basketball match simulation. It is based on real statistics and can be used to predict a result of real game within a 95% confidence interval. The game is now in Beta on GPlay but the problem is we have no idea how to market it as we are low on budget :/ And it looks like the big companies are taking over on Gplay. If you have some advice for us please share Thnx!

    Pollsters Top 8 Holiday Tournament

This special holiday tournament matches up the top 8 teams in the polls after the completion of pre-conference play. Both the Media and Coaches Polls this year have are identical for the top 8 places. They are:
    1. North Carolina Tarheels (AAC)
    2. Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (AAC)
    3. Arizona Wildcats (Pac-12)
    4. Michigan State Spartans (Big 10)
    5. Duke Blue Devils (ACC)
    6. Michigan Wolverines (Pac-12)
    7. Kansas Jayhawks (Big 12)
    8. Mississippi Rebels (SEC)

[NOTE: The teams and rankings are from the Tad Bolton dynasty thread that I’m running separately. This tournament is being played in “Exhibition” mode. Since it’s not possible to set Exhibition games to be played on a neutral court, games are being played on the home courts of the top-ranked team in each game. The games are being simmed with the computer running both teams.]

Chris reacted to GM Games in [Wolverine Studios] We Simmed It – ECF : Cleveland vs Toronto
Following up on yesterday’s blog post predicting the Golden State vs Oklahoma City series here’s a look at how Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2016 sees the Cleveland vs Toronto series shaking out. NOTE : since Valanciunas is injured we simmed this series without him available – just to see if it would make a difference we simmed the series again with him missing just game 1 and 2 and the results of each game in the series were identical.
    GAME 1

Game 1 was an exciting one from the start. Both teams kept it close through one and then Toronto opened up a seven point lead at the break proving that even without JV they were going to be able to matchup fine with Cleveland. DeRozan was terrific as he would finish with 39 points (hey nobody ever accused J.R. Smith of playing defense) but it was not enough. LeBron wasn’t losing game 1 and helped get both Kyrie and Matthew Dellavedova going in the third. Irving would finish with 26 while the Delly served up 18. LeBron finishes with 20/7, 2 steals and a block. The game would remain close until the final minute when Kevin Love would hit a huge three to put it away.
Kevin Love ices game 1 with a dagger three

    GAME 2 (CLE leads 1-0)

Game 2 was over from the start as Cleveland jumped out to a 22-12 1st quarter and never looked back. LeBron was fantastic again with 25 points and shooting better than 62% from the floor. Toronto got nothing from anyone and eventually both teams just packed it in and called it a day.
It was all Cleveland all day in game 2

    GAME 3 (CLE leads 2-0)

Game 3 proves Toronto does have some fight in them. Kyle Lowry finally stepped up and produced a monster 27/8 with 2 steals and a block in 40 minutes. Bismack Biyombo continued to adequately fill in for Valanciunas with a nice line of 6 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks – his defense was key down the stretch as Cleveland put together a run at the end as was Demarre Carroll’s who had 6 steals. James had 22 and Love went for 11 and 15 boards with Irving adding only 15 points. It looks like the key for Toronto to win is going to be forcing a big turnover margin.
Kyle Lowry leads Toronto to a game 3 win

    GAME 4 (CLE leads 2-1)

Bad shooting seems to be a disease running through this series and when a team catches it – good night. This game was alot like game 2 except flipped. LeBron did his thing but nobody else did much. Toronto again won the turnover battle and the series shifts back to Cleveland. In a seven game series it would seem improbable that Toronto would win but if its a best of three essentially anything is possible but they need to win game 5 because they’re not going to win game 7 in Cleveland.
Toronto evens the series in a blowout

    GAME 5 (series tied 2-2)

You know what this series needs? (Some offense?, a close game?, a steel cage?). Nope. Alternate jerseys! We decided to roll out both teams alternate unis for this one in hopes it would spark an interesting game. Lowry and DeRozan combined for 53 of the Toronto 95 (that means the rest of the team only offered up 42 points) and that’s just not enough to beat anyone good. LeBron went for a balanced 26/6/6 line, Irving added 22/5/5 with 3 steals and Tristan Thompson made an appearance with 12 and 13 boards with 4 steals. Toronto did not win the turnover battle this game which leaves them little chance of winning. When you don’t have more than two options for putting the ball in the basket you better play some hellacious defense and they didn’t.
Kyrie Irving sparks the game 5 victory

    GAME 6 (CLE leads 3-2)

Game 6 was the perfect ending for this series – a total clunker. Toronto only trailed by 4 at the break but LeBron and Irving were just too much to handle. LeBron had his most dominant performance with a 31 and 10 double double while Kyrie was no slouch at 24 and 6 dimes. Lowry had nearly as many turnovers (9) as points (12) and as we identified earlier in the series Toronto had to win the turnover battle in order to stand a chance. They didn’t and again didn’t get much offensive output against a stout Cleveland defense and that was all she wrote as Cleveland will win in six games.
LeBron saved his best to close out game 6

    FINAL OBSERVATIONS
Well this series wasn’t nearly as fun to watch play out as Golden State vs Oklahoma City. In fact it was downright boring. There were moments of intrigue here and there in games 1 and 3 but to be honest I’m surprised it went six games. Both teams shot poorly on the whole and while Toronto has been able to survive the first two rounds (in 7 games both times) they did so against teams with one really good scorer (George, Wade) so their 1-2 punch of Lowry and DeRozan was enough (barely). Cleveland is a different animal – not only do they have the best player in the East in LeBron but Irving and Love can both score not to mention the ability for a guy like Smith or Delly to catch fire. Even Thompson can put up some points now and then.
I thought maybe Valanciunas would make a difference as a scorer but when using him the results did not change (and I had the AI try to cap him around 28 minutes both to be true to life and to simulate him coming back from injury in game 3). I think the game did identify a key in the series though and that is Toronto is going to have to play some nasty defense which they are capable of and really try and grind this out if they want to win. I don’t think there is anyway they can win a seven game series without some killer defensive efforts.

The two games that stood out was APBA baseball(no longer a baseball fanatic but was a total sports geek as a kid)and the Avalon Hill Title Bout. I still play Title bout on the PC and various other games. Just hard trying to find time to play as work keeps me busy. I found this site the other day and those sim juices started flowing again lol.

The NLL, one of the longest and most successful sim leagues out there, has decided to switch engines and bring their successful ways to a whole new league. This new league will be run using Fast Break Basketball 3, developed by Greydog Software, which is widely renowned as one of the best basketball sims available.

The NLL has been running for more than a decade already and is one of the premier leagues still today. With the transition over to a new league, we plan to bring over the same system that has kept us at the top for so long, aiming for a league that has a fun and competitive environment for all.

We are opening applications for our first season, which will take place at the start of the 2002-2003 season. What you have to look forward to is a league where T-Mac, Iverson and Shaq are still in their prime, and the first rookie draft class will include LeBron, Carmelo, and D-Wade. Speaking of rookies, we have an innovative and immersive system in place that not only allows you to have great info on the draft class before the draft, but also makes you feel like a real GM getting scouting reports from actual scouts. And for those of you worried you’ll get stuck with the Clippers, have no fear, we will be having a fantasy draft. Every GM will have an equal opportunity to create their own team in the way that they want to.

Lastly, the NLL thrived for so long because of our commitment to media. This isn’t just a sim league, but rather a basketball universe where stories are told and friendships have been built. You aren’t just running a franchise, you are an integral part of our alternate basketball world. So come join us. Become part of something bigger, and help us create OUR story.

Chris reacted to TheLastOlympian07 in Manitoba Dreaming: Winnipeg Jets (EHM)
It was a little less than 5 years ago when talks about a NHL team back in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The struggling (then) Phoenix Coyotes were bankrupt and the City of Glendale, Arizona were tasked with covering the costs of the team. The NHL who owned them at the time said either you cover the costs or we walk. So at the 11th hour, the City of Glendale decided to pick up te tab to save their team. So now what would happen with the Winnipeg group that was looking for a NHL team? Sights turned to the East coast to a struggling Atlanta Thrashers franchise who made the playoffs once in 10 years and never won a single game in the playoffs (they were swept by the New York Rangers).

Atlanta was a team that struggled mightily despite top picks which were Ilya Kovalchuk and Dany Heatley (who was later traded for Marian Hossa). When it seemed like no NHL franchise could survive in Georgia, the team was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment. The team was immediately relocated to Winnipeg to play out of the MTS Center. Due to the swift movement of Atlanta to Winnipeg, the newly formed Jets had to play in the (then) Southeast Division with Washington, Florida, Tampa Bay and Carolina.

The team did had a pretty decent season despite all the travel going 37-35-10 for 84 points, 8 points out of the 8th spot. The leading point getter was Blake Wheeler who has 64 points while the leading goal scorer was Evander Kane with 30 goals. The top defenseman was Tobias Enstrom who has put up another solid 30 point season. The top goalie was Ondrej Pavalec who posted a 29-28-1 record with a .906 save percentage and a 2.91 G.A.A in 68 games.

The lockout shortened 2012-2013 season saw the Winnipeg Jets come oh so close to making the playoffs. How close you ask? They finished 9th with 51 points while the New York Islanders came 8th with 55 points. Yea that close. The Jet's still played in the Eastern Conference in the Southeast Division but that would all change next season after the NHL and NHLPA came to an agreement for realignment. In the shortened season, Andrew Ladd led the team in assists and points (28,46) while Blake Wheeler led the team in goals (19). Dustin Byfuglien was the leading point getter on defense with 28. Ondrej Pavalec was the man between the pipes again starting 44 games going 21-20-3 with a .905 save percentage and a 2.80 G.A.A. Not the best but not the worst.

The Jet's entered the new season finally in a division/conference in their own timezone. The problem? That division included the defending Stanley Cup Champions Chicago Blackhawks, the young Colorado Avalanche led by legendary goalie Patrick Roy, the Dallas Stars who had acquired Tyler Seguin to go along with Jamie Benn, the always tough Minnesota Wild who has just signed Zach Parise and Ryan Suter as Free Agents, the Nashville Predators left by a strong defense and amazing goaltending by Pekka Rinne, and the perennial Stanley Cup favourites the St.Louis Blues. Good stuff. After inching so close to playoff hockey the Jet's had a tough time in their new division as the top three in their division had 112,111 and 107 points which meant if they wanted playoff hockey they'd have to be a wildcard. The Jet's finished with a 37-35-10 record good enough for 84 points, 7 points out of the final wildcard spot. The leading point getter was again Blake Wheeler with 69 who also tied Bryan Little in assists with 41. The leading goal scorer was Blake Wheeler who scored 28 goals. The leading defenseman was Dustin Byfuglien who scored 20 goals and had 36 assists for 56 points. Arguably the better goalie was Al Montoya who played in 28 games going 13-8-3 with a .920 save percentage and a 2.30 G.A.A. Ondrej Pavalec played in 57 games going 22-26-7 with a .901 save percentage and a 3.01 G.A.A. Not very good for a number 1 goalie.

Now here we are gearing up for the 2014-2015 season. Get ready for some big news

BISON CONTINUE SEARCH FOR HEAD COACH

The on-going effort by North Dakota State to hire a new men’s basketball head coach is continuing painfully. Although AD Steve Monroe has interviewed at least 6 coaches, the university has yet to have any show enough interest to take on the job.

The Bison used to have strong basketball teams and Scheels Arena used to fill for basketball games. But the emergence of FOOTBALL as KING at North Dakota State has resulted in a stead downward slide of the basketball program. The Arena now is like a morgue for most games. Their recent dismal records forced Monroe to fire head coach Sandy Roderick in early April. Now with summer fast approaching the Bison remain coach-less.

While Monroe would not admit it, the ascendancy of FOOTBALL accompanied by the plunge of basketball at the university probably explains the reluctance of basketball coaches to take over the reins at North Dakota State. There have been no improvements to the basketball facilities in years, money has been siphoned off the basketball budget to further accommodate the avaricious appetite of FOOTBALL, and its been virtually impossible to recruit high school basketball players from outside of North Dakota. Why would any decent coach want to take on such a challenge?

They are a young team but this core has made deep playoff run before. Perfect for the GM who wants an instant contender. Core players: Pietrangelo, Bogosian, Couturier & Jack Campbell  FLORIDA PANTHERS (34-39-5 - 6th in NorthEast Division)It was a tough year for Florida; they have a talented group but failed to meet expectations. It would be cool to have some kind of Hall of Fame that collects the best players based on their career performance and trophies (after they retire).
Obviously this is a low priority suggestion, but I for one would love to be able to look back on the glory days of some of the best players in the gameworld.

100 games isn't much tho...just a little bit over a season(depending on playoffs run)....maybe extend the time period by quite a bit more?

Each club will nominate 1 player from the entire League/World or their own team only? We don't want too many people in the Hall of Fame right...requirements to get in need to be tough, so that its actually a "Hall of Fame".

A hall of fame would honour past players for each individual club that would also be a respectable addition to the game. Now for the idea:

-each club would be able to nominate 1 player a season for the hall of fame
-player must have played 100 games with the club (Season and playoffs)
-player does not have to retire to be in hall of fame
-players must be 25 years of age
-player would get a computer generated banner with name at bottom, jersey number, and a C or A in the top right corner if they were a captain or alternate captain for the club
-banner would be colour of team jerseys

    Hey guys(and gals),

I have turned a project I have been working on myself for sometime now into an open source project called Goal Line Stand Football.  I have been playing simulation games all the way back to when I was growing up as a child when I used to keep stats manually for an 8 team league I created in MicroLeague Baseball...Many sports have some great simulation games out there...Baseball has OOTP Baseball.  Soccer has Football Manager.  Hockey has Franchise Hockey Manager 2. Football has....well, nothing really.  At least not something that compares in any way to those games.  This is an attempt to fix that.

Our goal is to right many "wrongs" in a lot of the other football simulations out there.  From people being able to take advantage of playbook tricks to poor financials, evaluation AI, drafting AI, etc.  Our goal is to "Get It Right" on a foundational level first.  You should not be able to simply plug a CB in at Safety and not see some major issues.  You shouldn't be able to plug in an OT at OG who has never played the position in his life and be able to get by fine, if not have an upgrade because of their physical abilities. The list goes on.  Anyone who has played enough football sims knows exactly what I am talking about.  It just doesn't "feel" right.

We are looking for both passionate football fans who want to get involved with a project at a near ground floor level, and programmers who would like to work on a project such as this and gain valuable experience.  If you are a programmer and a football fan like myself, even better, however no coding experience is necessary to help. We have plenty of football related areas that we could use help in. This serves to combine my two passions(lifting is another, but isn't relevant to this, lol).  Nothing is build/release ready yet.  If you are expecting to be able to download something and start playing it, I'm afraid we aren't at that stage yet.  We are in the design stages.

There are some functioning parts that are completed but they are not connected together as of yet, including some extremely in depth player creation code to go along with draft grades, combine results, and player scout evaluation grades. There is a also a completed, fully functioning NFL scheduling algorithm complete with bye weeks(in 12 configurations) that took quite a while to get finished but is something, as far as I know, unrivaled in other football sims(I'm assuming most just take NFL templates--this is completely random but follows all NFL scheduling rules from year to year---teams play their division twice, a rotating division in the same conference once, a rotating division in the opposite conference once and their final 2 games are against teams in the same conference outside of their own division and the division they are already playing that finished in the same place as they did the previous year).

In this case it's a good thing because people will have the ability to get involved and make meaningful contributions that will end up shaping the way the game is developed, designed and what features make it into the first version and how those are implemented.  I encourage anyone interested in helping to check out our page on GitHub for more information.  We also have an invite only discussion board/chat room on Slack that is integrated and quite active.  Feel free to message me or email me at [email protected] if you would like to help.

I think I will take over the Falcons because that was my uncles fav. team.

*in the event I get fired I will automatically take over the last place team*

    NHL A New Era

Up to this point in the NHL there was no drafts and mostly the Canadian teams were getting the best players. So the American team threatened to leave the NHL unless a new precedent was established. So NHL President Frank Calder introduced an NHL Amateur Draft which will include players 18 years and younger. Since this old NHL was established under old rules, Calder put forth a Draft that will include all eligible players who will be drafted to new teams. As you can tell the Montreal Canadiens were upset about this and threatened to boycott the NHL but Calder stood his ground mainly because he thought where else would the Canadiens play? There are no other top flight leagues.

    Hey everybody!

I finally decided to join the forums, even though I have been playing Game Plan Hockey Manager since June 2015, back when the worlds were named Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo.

I currently manage the Prairie City Steers in Clapper and the Dunkirk Sea Hawks in Lumber.

GPHM is one of the best online manager games, across all sports!  Thank you Anders and everyone in the community for making it a success!

Who else is with me in Game World Lumber?

Hey guys, I would like to invite you to new sim league.

    - 82 games, 10 minute Quarters, 5 Foul limit.
    - Playoffs start with best of 5, then the rest of it is Best of 3.
    - Real rosters taken from 05/06 Euroleague season.
    - Free Agency filled with few guys from Eurocup and the guys who ended up undrafted in NBA during 2005 draft.
    - Each year teams will be drafting players who were successful during the following season. For example if we start at 05/06 season, during the draft teams will get a chance to draft guys from real life 06/07 season.
    - 5 Non-European players rule. That means that you can't fill your team with ex-nba palayers and that gives a better competition.
    - Salary Cap starts from $15,000,000.
    - Everything will be done in good old fashioned way, manual depth charts, no need to have an actual game.

League should kick off next week, depending on how fast the people will register.

Simulations three times per week: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday at 1 PM EST.

    League page: euroleague.ga/

    Registration here: http://euroleague.boards.net/thread/65/waiting-list-registration

    17 teams left.

Hope to see you on board!
