You got a couple numbers off, so I'll just write it out.

EDIT: THE FORMAT OF GAME WORLDS HAVE BEEN CHANGED, AND WHILE THIS IS NO LONGER EXACTLY CORRECT, ITS STILL ROUGHLY RIGHT. CHANGES INCLUDE THAT THERE IS NOW A COPPER LEAGUE BETWEEN THE IHL AND BHL. LEAGUES HAVE ALSO BEEN DOUBLED IN SIZE CREATING AN EASTERN AND WESTERN CONFERENCE. THE TWO CONFERENCES WILL FACE EACH OTHER DURING REGULAR SEASON, HOWEVER WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE GHL, WILL PLAY PLAYOFF GAMES EXCLUSIVELY AGAINST THEIR OWN CONFERENCE.

    PLAYOFF/RELEGATION CHANGES:
GHL: TOP 8 TEAMS IN EACH CONFERENCE COMPETE IN THE PLAYOFFS (16 TEAMS IN TOTAL) FOR THE GHL CUP
RELEGATION PLAYOFFS: TEAMS 10 AND 11 IN A CONFERENCE WILL FACE EACH OTHER IN A PLAYOFF SERIES, LOSER IS AUTOMATICALLY RELEGATED
PROMOTION PLAYOFFS: TEAMS 3 TO 5 IN A CONFERENCE WILL FACE EACH OTHER IN A COUPLE PLAYOFF SERIES, WINNER IS AUTOMATICALLY PROMOTED

The leagues in-game now also have a lot more detail and it should be more clear if you go to league page --> playoff tab.

    GHL:
1st-8th play playoffs for Golden Cup
    9th-12th watch the Golden Cup
13th & 14th are in relegation playoffs, they will match up against a team from SHL playoffs and winners will be in the GHL next season, losers in the SHL
    15 & 16th are relegated to SHL

    SHL:
    1st & 2nd are automatically promoted
    3rd - 6th play promotion playoffs
-3rd vs 6th -> winner plays 14th SHL team (I think) for a chance at promotion
                 -4th vs 5th -> winner plays 13th SHL team
-it's possible that there can be 0 to 2 teams that earn promotion through the promotion playoffs (for a maximum of 4 teams                                                 -promoting and relegating)
    7th-12th watch the Golden Cup
13th & 14th are in the relegation playoffs and each match up against a BHL team
15th and 16th are automatically relegated

    BHL:
    1st & 2nd are automatically promoted
3rd - 6th play promotion playoffs -> the 2 winners then have to play teams 13 and 14 from the SHL
    7th - 12th watch the Golden Cup
13th & 14th play in the relegation playoffs and must match up against an IHL team
    15th & 16th are automatically relegated

    IHL:
    1st & 2nd are automatically promoted
3rd-6th play promotion playoffs -> the 2 winners must match up against the BHL relegation playoff teams
    7th-10th watch the Golden Cup
    11th - 14th do relegation playoffs
-this isn't a situation I've been in nor payed attention too, I'm not sure if there's a mini tournament among themselves and the 2                                           -losers have to play the LIHL playoff winners or if they all have to play LIHL winners. But you should kind of see the pattern of what                                   -is happening now.
    15th & 16th are automatically relegated

    LIHL:
    1st & 2nd are automatically promoted
3rd-10th play in the promotion playoffs
-I've been in this situation before, but it's been so long that I forget exactly how it plays out. It's either all 4 winners play the 4 IHL                                        -relegation playoff teams, or there is an extra round and the 2 winners play the 2 losers of an IHL relegation round
    11th-16th watch the Golden Cup

Rainsilent, Fangowolf, and Wendel Clark, thank you for all of your input. I've made a few changes now. I had no idea players would get exhausted, I was only monitoring that for goalies.
I signed a defenseman, but he won't show up till tomorrow. In the meantime, I scratched the most tired defenseman and put in a serviceable guy from the minors (although his skating is still garbage) but it will work to get the guy back healthy.

I'm also going to spread out the icetime a bit more and put 4 forwards on the pp and hopefully that will guard against fatigue.
I'll come back to this thread with any updates or questions.
Thanks again for all of your help

    Penguins Review
    By Steve Porter

Youngstown State begins Horizon League play tomorrow night with a very tough challenge. They travel to Chicago to take on the UIC Flames. The Flames came out on top of last season’s Horizon League standings.

The Penguins come into League Play with a strong interior but question marks elsewhere.

The team is anchored by junior center Jamal Grady with his 17.7 ppg and 6.3 rpg team leading statistics. When Grady has to go to the bench to rest, he is ably backed up by sophomore Kent Jones who is averaging 5.8 ppg but isn’t a strong rebounder.

At PF, the team has two very strong players, sophomore Tim Tice and senior Rich Braswell. Tice is normally the starter and is averaging 8.9 ppg and 4.8 rpg, but Braswell is having a strong senior year, averagg 7.0 ppg (while hitting 57% of this shots) and 4.2 rpg in his 15.7 mpg on the court.

Chad Delzell is continuing to start at SF but the senior has been shooting poorly this season and is averaging just 3.9 ppg. He continues to be a strong rebounder though (4.6 rpg). He is backed up by senior Rick Martin who is shooting well (hitting 44% of his FG attempts including 47% of this 3’s) and averaging 8.1 ppg. Martin has been doing double duty recently, starting at SG but also backing up Delzell.

The SG position has been a morass. Junior Levall Hart began the season as the starter but while shooting well overall (55%), only hit 14% of his 3’s and has seen his on court minutes decrease precipitously and is averaging just 3.1 ppg. Rick Martin has been starting in recent games but has been inconsistent and thus has not been able to solidify his hold on the position. Redshirt freshman B.J. Dennis, while not yet starting, has been playing more minutes at SG than anyone else recently and has had some good scoring performances. Dennis is now averaging 7.8 ppg. Freshman William Swan and senior Lonnie Holt also have had limited exposure at SG

Confusion extends to the PG position where junior Tim Lostetter and sophomore Linehan Murphy have been sharing starts and minutes. Lostetter is the more aggressive shooter and scorer (8.1 ppg), but Murphy (6.2 ppg) tends to be the passer and has shown a keen shooting eye. Levall Hart could also play some at PG.

When asked about the team, Coach Durst replied, “I had certainly hoped to see the starting positions nailed down by now. But we have a bunch of very good players who compete hard both in games and in practice. There are a number of players who have very good performances on any given day. Those who gain a bit more consistency will ultimately become regular starters for us. It’s nice to have the depth we have this season. I’d like to see a couple of them begin having strong games so that teams will have to spread their defensive intensity around and take some pressure off Jamal.”

Regarding his team’s chances in league play, Durst responded, “I think it’s going to be a tough battle. There are so many teams that have the players to make a run. I think we’ll be in the mix. We’ve shown we have an offense that can compete, now we just have to amp up our defense some. With our inside game pretty much in place, if we can now get our outside game complimenting that, I think we could be a big factor in the Horizon League. To be league champs, though, a team has to play well on the road and carve out some away victories. We had a couple early this season but then lost our last two road games.”

When asked about the team’s recruiting efforts, Durst said, “We’ve got letters of intent from very good high school seniors for 2 of the 4 scholarships that will be available after this season. We’re continuing to actively work to build interest and hope to nail down some players who can step in and fill the big shoes of those who are graduating at the end of this season. There are a couple recruits we are pursuing who need to do well on their SAT’s to qualify to play for us, so January 28 when the SAT scores are announced is a big date for them and us.”

The Penguins take on UIC in Chicago in their Horizon League opener, and in response to what the team would do to win the game, Durst replied, “Tim Patterson is a big time scorer. He’s scored over 20 point in 6 of their 10 games this season. So we need to try to keep him from busting out. UIC had a great team last season and I expect them to be tough to handle this year as well. Going on the road to take them on in our first league contest is a huge challenge. We need to be clicking on all cylinders if we expect to have a chance.”

GBA is looking for GMs. We're a 20-team league with fictional players and fictional teams, all with custom logos. We've been running since June 2017 but we started with a 3 month long fantasy draft. We're half way through our third season now and we have a good core of GMs, just not enough to fill the league. We use Baseball Mogul 11 because we feel like it's the most superior and stable version of Baseball Mogul for running a league. Our financials are tight and we have rules in place to prevent teams from hoarding too much cash which prevent teams from long-term dynasties and long-term rebuilds. I'm the commish of this league and I'm the only one with the password. We have IFA in GBA but the way we do it there is no file manipulation. Our sims are on Mon-Wed-Fri. Most GM interactions are through XAT or PM, like most mogul leagues.

    Open Teams:
Brookyln Bridges - On the verge of being a top team in this league.
    Championship City Xekutioners - Rebuilding.
Death Valley Eskimos - Playoff team that needs a little tlc.
Diablos Rojos del Mexico - Playoff team that needs a little tlc.
Melbourne Heroes - Playoff team with some great players but a weak farm.

We've sorted our divisions geographically but if you take a team and prove that you're going to stick around you can change your team city and name as long as it fits geographically. Stop by and check us out if you're interested, we'd love to see some new blood.

If so any of you looking to join a league - Here is something completley different

HERE IS WHERE THE DIFFERENCE IS------ I AM SELLING A NEW IDEA FOR A LEAGUE - NOT ANOTHER NFL LEAGUE, NOT A HISTORIC REPEAT, BUT A NEW IDEA FOR A LEAGUE..........

Without getting to much into the finite (as I hate to give the whole idea away) here is what I am looking at.. A marriage of a few different things to create a one of a kind (well at least first of it's kind) league..

The league will consist of 16 teams broken into 2 conferences - The European and the American - These two conferences will have 2 divisions each - A Premiere and a Second Division... The schedule will be setup in a way that will accomplish the following:

Each Conference will ONLY PLAY with it's own conference (ie... European will play European - American v American) for regular season - The conference winners will meet for the 'World Bowl" at seasons end....... OKAY so this is conceptually no different than any other league........ But here is the kicker...... Promotion / Relegation - The top finisher in Second Division will be promoted to Premiership while bottom Premiere finisher will be demoted to second division - Still not enough.... How about the added bonus of some "cup games" during the season to add some inter conference flair.....
And lastly how about "international" players - Not just Americans playing on European teams - But Europeans of all nationalities playing as well so rather than just Bruce Smith - You may get Tomas Klinsmann or Shoda Arvaledaze on rosters as well to add a true "international flavor"...

If this sounds like a league you may have interest in - Let me know.... Online leagues are not for everyone and this one will really be out of the box - But if it is going to work it will need to have everyones participation on a regular basis... or it will also fail - The league will only be as good as those who are in it....

It is time to get ready to cut down the nets and DDS: College Basketball 2018 is bringing you the biggest and best version ever to let you fulfill your dreams of taking your favorite school to the top. So get ready to hop on the recruiting trail, coach – here’s a look at ten of the newest additions to the number one college basketball franchise on the market.
This press release is written and courtesy of the Wolverine Studios development company with slight modifications:
    1) 2017 League Conversions
Right out of the gate we’ve got some big news – those dynasties you’ve been building with CB:2017….well keep on building them! For the first time ever you’ll be able to upgrade your league files to the new version!
    2) Coach Rating Tracking and Improved Increases

We’ve put work into making the increase in ratings over time better distributed for the coaches with this version and have added a new feature to the coach card that will let you track the improvements in the ratings of a coach over time.
    3) Rating Progression Tracking for Players
We didn’t just leave the progression tracking for the coaches either – the player card will have the same progression tracking for player ratings to see how your fabulous freshmen turn out over their careers.
    4) Coach Lineage Information

Lineage is back but in a new and improved way. Now you will be able to track every coach that worked for every team and find out what happened to them over their careers. You wil be able to sort by team or by active head coach to see which legend of your association has the best coaching tree!
    5) Improvements to AI in Recruiting and Tutoring
Recruiting is the key to any great college game and our recruiting AI has been honed over many years but each year we make it better and better. This year is no exception as we have worked with the AI to do an even better job of managing their resources and targeting players to up the challenge for you. The AI also does a better job of keeping poor students eligible and if you turn on the option for the AI to manage your operations it will handle tutoring of players as well.
    6) UI Improvements and New Information

One of our goals is always to add new and useful information to the game. We’ve added an Assn. Info screen that will give you info about each conference and team so that you can see more information at a glance without having to hunt. The search option also remains if you have something in particular you know you’re looking for. We’ve also added a small drop box to the left window news tab to sort different news types and a few other touches here and there to make navigation easier and the screens to look even better than before!
    7) Improvements to Walk-On and Recruit Generation
One additional area of improvement this season is in the generation of new recruits and walk-ons. With the recruiting improvements teams are doing a better job of filling their scholarships so the overall number of walk-ons has decreased and those that are generated are done so with a better stature for the kind of player they should be. We’ve also tweaked the recruit generation code to improve stats for players especially at smaller schools and to see that there are fewer outlier players.
    8) New Asst. Coach Poaching and Job Offer Improvements

The coaching job search page now gives you more information about all of the jobs available including showing you if a team is on probation for unethical behavior. An even bigger new addition to the coaching feature is the ability to hire assistant coaches from other programs while they are employed – and it can happen to you as well! Assistant coaches who are entering their final contract year can now be lured away in the offseason for a better position. That’s great news if you like to play as the high powered schools…and you better keep some resumes handy if you’re coaching at a lower level school now.
    9) Improvements in Relationship Feature
We’ve made a couple of changes here to make this feature even more interesting. The first is that your response options to the players are now changed a bit when you make a phone call to discuss their actions and secondly you’re going to get a response in the phone call to tell you how your relationship was impacted by the actions you took and the impacts vary based on the player themselves so you can never be quite sure what the reaction will be. The other change here is that we have built in some very rare incidents that you might experience to add a little bit more variety to what you deal with as coach.
    10) New End Game Improvements

The last of our new items we are highlighting here has to do with end-game scenarios. We have made players try to react quicker as you can see from the screenshot above – down five with only 11 seconds left the player raced down the floor and launched a quick three. We have also worked to see that players have the ability to attempt a long range heave if possible so you never know what the closing seconds of the game will bring and nothing will be more exciting than watching your player drain one from half court to win at the buzzer!
So coach, what are you waiting for? Your destiny awaits at the top of that ladder. Take your school to the top of the basketball world, cut down the nets and build your dynasty with Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 2018!

I'm greatly enjoying revisiting this classic. However, it would be nice to know more about how to put together a good team. The game's help file tells you a little bit about what ratings are most important for which positions, but I find that some players who should be pretty good/solid based on their numbers really aren't. For instance, my offensive line has all kinds of trouble run blocking even though they all have very high strength ratings. GameFAQS has nothing of substance for this or previous iterations of the series.

Does anyone know where to find more information on how the game crunches the numbers under the hood?

Another good example of something that would be nice to know: what expectations can you have out of training camp based on certain percentages?

OK, separate from all of the above: a frustration. I usually just do GM/roster kind of moves and let the computer handle all play-calling and play-executing. However, my team of choice seems to be allergic to nickel packages. The opposing team will have a bunch of wide receivers out and my coach will try to cover them with LB's, which usually doesn't go well. Very annoying!
