  1. Many teams have improved ~1 point of overall since last season.

That is something I would expect naturally. Unless you have really over-aged team and you don't change it for younger players, you should be improving by such rate - with training, signing,  getting nice players from draft (and there were already very high OVR players in top10 postilions in previous drafts). Obviously there is a block when you hit salary cap, but I think that happened only to me (I'm not saying others are not close to salary cap, but I already had to let go very nice players because of my cap situation) - I'm still holding thanks to trades and training, but I can't improve by 1 point anymore.

  2. I updated my tradeblock list above.

Right now I'm looking to move some defenders and goalies from my affiliate - I have now 6 Ds and 3 Gs (with one prospect I want to sign) in AAHL and that is to much I think. So I would like to swap some of them for similar Cs or Fs (for my AAHL) or for picks. Let me know, of you are interested.

  3. I would like to trade following players:

    BORYS Andrushchenko - http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=15741

88 OVR 29yo forward, sniper or powerforward that always performed very well in every role he played in my team, over 76 avg performance in GHL, 81 this season so far! 2W contract (so he is interesting for SHL as well - can be great sniper for 1st line there). Pick or young player forward/center in return.

    LORIK Oneal - http://www.gameplanhockey.com/goalie?gpid=5550

83 OVR 24yo goalie, under very cheap, but 1W, contract. Can give him "for free" if you need backup goalie in case of injury.

He was my 1st round GHL pick, but it was a mistake to sign him under 1W contract (I did that shortly before affiliates were introduced... lol).

  4. I would like to trade following players:

    SEDAT Berhorsthttp://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=40203

86 OVR 20yo talented forward, had great season in AAHL and I think he is ready for GHL, but he does not fit my team. 2W contract.

    KEVIN Fontaine-Bienvenuehttp://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=3486

87 OVR 31yo experienced forward, this universal veteran player can bring ton of experience for bottom 6 in GHL or top 6 in SHL, he has great traits. 2W contract.

    BORYS Andrushchenko - http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=157412

88 OVR 28yo forward, sniper or powerforward that always performed very well in every role he played, over 76 avg performance in GHL. 1W contract.

    VIKTOR Mamonovhttp://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=32707

82 OVR 26yo offensive defender under very reasonable contract, can be great addition to SHL team. Right handed. 2W contract.

    ELIE Daggett http://www.gameplanhockey.com/goalie?gpid=9445

83 OVR 19yo goalie, young and talentd goalie that can play in AAHL or take an SHL backup spot and improve soon. Entry level contract.

    ANDRAI Hentgeshttp://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=3537

    LORIK Oneal - http://www.gameplanhockey.com/goalie?gpid=5550

Let me know if you are interested and we can talk about the trade until it will be possible to make it.

  5. Well, it is about strategy... mostly GHL issue, but if somebody in lower leagues want to win or inherited team with bad signings, he can run into cap troubles. Since I know that in case of empty spot after injury, player from AAHL will be called automatically, I can afford to use the whole cap. Only the emergency automatic call is not working properly...

Being Worldclass in GHL  Biscuit is the reason why I have cap issues - my players want more and more money each season (they do generally after being longer time with you and I have a feeling some Cups won increase that demands even more...) and I don't want to let them go to FA and trading is not easy.

Since this game is trying to simulate real NHL with AAHL, draft etc., I think IR is reasonable demand. Each manager plays differently... one decides to use whole cap to have the best team, one can keep 5% cap free for injuries or for signings/trades. Look at Chicago, Dallas that are mostly using all the cap... or SJS or Columbus as example of teams that keep some space under cap.

  6. And fault of managers of half of NHL teams... right. Wait for S20 GHL... most teams will have issues with cap.

I think 5 or 6 days as a minimum for IR slot is fair point.

Anyway, the emergency automatic call was done, not the payer I wanted (not the best one, not the second best...) and he was not in the lineup. Quite upsetting.

    It looks funny:

    GPHM.png

  7. I'm sure this was suggested before, but I would really like and need some kind of IR. I have only couple of thousands below cap space so in case of injury of 1w player, I cannot make any calls from AAHL and I have to wait for auto call which is not convenient in case of top line player injury.

  8. Daugherty and Andrushchenko are still available. Plus Hentges and Oneal.

Apart from young D and 4th line checking player, I might be interested in backup goalie as well.

  9. Well, this will happen in every world after some time - GHL will became very even with many 90+ OVR players. For Biscuit, it is already visible since let's say S10 and I believe after S15 the rosters will be limited by cap space (not like you cannot make one offer to superstar in FA you really want, but as you have to let one or even more superstars go as you don't have enough cap space to keep them for next season) and thus even more equal league. Who will manage to hold most of low greed players will benefit, but the dominance, like me and Vandals had in many previous season, will simply disappear.

It is a good thing, it simulates real hockey, when you have many Stanley cup aspirants and still you can have very surprising teams in the final after all. On the other hand, randomness in the game will have much bigger effect and it may be a problem for very competitive managers as in online games like this, you usually can built a superior team by being more clever, having more knowledge, planning better system (like not starting from top, but hoarding good picks first), having more time to make better deals etc. Or by playing long enough, but that is different story :) But here with tight cap space, this works only first 10-15 seasons and then you will be simply one of many good teams and you can still win, but your chance for that will decrease.

  10. Well, the team traits are calculated mostly from players traits, so it is exactly the point koekefix meant. The fact the all 3 teams Portland beat in the playoffs have better confidence and winner instinct (especially the winner instinct by quite some margin) and same or similar team work. Also skill-wise Portland was no better and the last 5 games with bad faceoff skills they were overshooted by a lot and spend more time defending themselves.

But that is hockey and they deserved it. They just played really well and it worked, perhaps also good tactics was the reason. I wish them the cup.

I agree with rainsilent that Kaila's confidence played role. I also noticed that after trades, the team performance is decreasing. And not only if you trade key position player who cause this with the confidence reset. For example after I traded fro Council who I used only as 3rd line center, my scoring decreased significantly and in 12 games I suffered same number of losses as in the first 48 games. And Council was one of the best players with (almost) point per game production. Of course this is small sample and it might not mean anything, but I noticed something similar before. My guess would be that small decrease of team work and team confidence might hurt the performance, so you would have lower scoring and in my case once the winning streak was over, the team was playing worse then before (during the streak before the trade). And with many GHL teams being very close to each other in quality, that can easily make 2-1 games into 1-2. Most of the seasons before, I did minimum trades and the few were mostly in the beginning of the season. This season I made 4 trades in last 20 games of regular season and the team results got much worse.

  11. I understand your point, jusatin. I also thought about the NTs being completely independent with no effect on player and that might be easier to implement. On the other hand the NT games might be played only in silly/pre-season, where no team games are played and thus the player will not miss any time in your team and experience/confidence boost might over-weight the injury chance.

  12. IneffableLeafs: I'm not sure manager's reputation should be the only decision for NT manager (as the top reputated managers could manage any NT forever). I would simply introduce user elections. You have now 77 managers in Biscuit right now. Let's say there will be rule you have to play at least 2-3 months to be eligible for NT manager, so we are 60-70 managers. If you really have 16 NTs (to me it is too many for such a small world), you have ~4 managers eligible per team. I guess not all would be interested, so there would be NTs usually with 1-4 managers interested in. For this, you can make a simply voting - each 77 managers can vote for all NTs in form of a poll. This can repeat each season (maybe better each 2 seasons).

IIHF World Championships format sounds fine. But 30 seasons games is a bit too many. Note that this should be played during playoffs or silly-/pre-season, not during regular season (and If, I would rather see 1 game per week, so not too many). This also depends on format - if you get experience, injuries from NT or not. In that case it is not so many more games and the server should take it easily - among 16 NTs, you play 8 games. If this is outside regular season (when 40 games are played each day), it should be just fine and even during regular season, 40/48 is not so big difference.

  13. I'm liking this more and more. Can we somehow convince Anders to include this into the game? NTs would be playing some games independently, 1 per week, or only before/after regular season as some World Cup/Championship. It would be interesting to have this also with injury risk and experience added to players. Each NT should have manager, elected from the managers in the world, I guess. And the manager will make the selection.

  14. Cool, Paul! I guess we need a nationality filter... NOW!

Btw. the names for Czech and Slovak are mixed up - many Slovaks in the game sound Czech and vice versa (Kantárik is very good example of that). But I don't mind and I guess most of people wouldn't see the difference :) Back in the prototype all Russians had ladies names, that was hilarious :D

  15. Ok, I was quite surprised that I can make a decent team from even small country like Czech Republic.

But to compete with Canada or USA, I guess Europe need to merge some teams... I can work with Slovakia for example and called it Czechoslovakia. I just hope no Slovaks play Biscuit, they would hate me... maybe :D

I guess you can see why I would merge the two - Slovakia does not have enough centers, Czech Republic has only few forwards and basically nothing for LW, separately they both suck at D, Slovakia has really bad goal-tending etc.

Together this might be team that can play even matches with USA, but no one can match the defense of Canada, which is unreal.

  16. Great goalies, really shitty defense, Erzac  :)  But it is actually slightly better than what I was excepting from single European country. Maybe one can make at least Sweden, Finland and Russia + the rest of the Europe teams.

  17. I really like manager games with national teams, but it is complicated thing in here as nationality is only randomly generated for players. It would be nice, if manager country would play role - like that the team you are getting at the beginning is filled only with players of your nationality and the draft respect how many teams play at different levels - let's say if there are 5 managers from Canada, 5 from USA, 3 from Russia and 3 from Sweden in GHL, so you will have 5 Canadians and 5 Americans, 3 Russians and 3 Swedes in top16 places of the draft. Or something like that...

Because if you are from Belgium, there should be enough GHL level players from Belgium, so you can at least have a chance in making national team. That would support national identity and motivate you to get friends from your country to play this game. That would be my idea at least.

If there is not change like this and you want to start national teams now, you can in princple make 3 or 4 teams: Canada, USA, Europe... maybe West Europe and East Europe (although this naming would be incredibly unfortunate and could make a lot of people angry, especially those who were living in times of Soviet Union, but trying to be normal European democratic country now...). Those teams could have real managers based on some votes.

I will try to suggest the rosters for Europe...

  18. Beginning of next season, I would like to trade:

    N. Daugherty © - http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=15016

94 OVR, he is old (36), but top center (by far) in this world. He can play literally any role and has Faceoff skill of 99. 2W contract!

    B. Andrushchenko (F) - http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=15741

88 OVR, pretty good sniper or powerforward in good age (27), always performed very well (76+) in any role in my team (1st-3rd line). 1W contract.

They all have ton of playoff experience.

I'm looking for talented D that can start in AAHL and make it to the A team soon. I'm also looking for some 4th liner - enforcer or checking player - I guess I can find those in FA, but if the player is young and/or universal, it might have some value to me. Some teenagers or picks might do the trade as well.

  19. Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying without luck I would be 8th, but this season is so far too perfect. I might do better than S7, when I had 150 points. And I know my team is not better compared to rest of the league now - maybe in experience, but skill-wise it is more even each season. That's why I'm not surprised by this:

Everything is packed within a few points and even the 15th place can make the playoffs.

That is something I was expecting, but with me included with few points ahead.

  20. Thanks. Yes, I regret some of the moves I did around S3. I hope some of those players will retire soon and new phase of my team begin. Honestly, I don't get this season. Yes, I was dominating the league for most of the time since S4, but I was also expecting this league to be more balanced this season. With Protons, Vandals, Minutemen in top places, but within few points from the rest of playoff teams. Thus, I'm quite shocked how my team is doing this season. 47 games and only 4 losses. My OT/SO was never very good (before this season I had more OT losses than wins) and now I have 7-0 for OT/SO. And yes, I have also very good season injury-wise so far. My team is great and I think my tactics works, but this is rather luck that might wear off (maybe already during playoffs) and next season will be already interesting as I don't know if I will be able to keep all my players and how I will solve the goalie situation in my team.

  21. Haha, too many things done at the same time => injury. The report is only by 30s steps, but I thought the sequence is right - here it looks a bit odd, maybe it is just randomly written in the span of the 30s.

I agree it is strange if they were able to play 60 games last season. I have some injury prone players that tends to have long term injuries almost every season, but I guess that cannot be explanation to all your injuries. Maybe bad luck or there are really more injuries in the game even I didn't notice anything in my team.

  22. It is not good to count AAHL injuries as those are "extra players" that would not play any games in previous seasons.

I did not count my injuries, but I have a feeling I don't observe anything unusual. Maybe even my injuries are below average. I have hard training to all, but I never played harder than normal fairness (rather fair or safe). I have some AAHL injuries (quite a lot for below 10 assigned players), but I do not count them - the players get there very tired and normally I would not sign them or play them in A team.
