Chris reacted to GM Games in [Wolverine Studios] #FeatureFriday – Get A Look At Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2020
Basketball season is coming up fast and we’re very excited to be able to share the first look at our basketball simulation masterpiece; Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2020.
For the 9th iteration of the game we decided it was time to take it down to the studs and rebuild. What has evolved is nothing short of spectacular. We have completely rebuilt the user interface in an amazing transformation. Take a look…
The first thing you’re going to notice is that we’ve taken the comments of our community to heart. Now our game will look the same no matter what resolution and its not going to leave empty space on the screen if you have something like a big 4k monitor. You’re going to get the same experience if you’re playing on that or if you take the game on the road on your laptop.
We’ve made the user interface even more friendly by offering a back button for navigation and redesigning the other navigational links. You can see that they are in clearly defined sections with the team links at the top, league links on the upper left and your own personal action links for your in game player on the bottom left. The team drop down at the top now will show you a name and a logo which will make it much easier to find the team you’re looking to navigate to.
You can see in the video a brand new screen right away – a team dashboard which serves as a one-stop hub for everything you need to know about your team. As we release more videos coming up to the launch you will see very thoughtful design went into redeveloping every screen to make things even more visually appealing and user friendly. You also saw one of the new in game cut scenes leading into the lottery. This is a really exciting addition that ups the presentation level in the game to a whole new level that no sports simulation has been to.
We can’t wait to show off more and that’s just what we’re going to do in the coming weeks so make sure you have subscribed to our YouTube channel and feel free to leave comments below about what you want to see shown off in the next video.

Also, loading a game needs work - it loaded Akron, did not show the logo or the navigation tabs at the top of the screen, and then crashed when I tried to navigate to another team on the future opponents screen.

I've also made a couple custom plays which varies the Shotgun formation just slightly: consider having variations of each offense type by moving the player to whatever their starting location is, for instance initial_position="11,2" position="11,1" to have the right WR play another yard (or whatever the numbers mean) up.

I've gone ahead and attached the plays I've made, note a couple of them may be a bit flawed since they don't start right on a receiver or runner.

I just wanted to share some screen shots from a game I'm working on in my very limited free time. I don't plan on having regular updates (like the two games on the forums below) but I have been wanting to show off these screens for a while. This is very early alpha version (0.0.1.9) and all screens are subject to change.

Please note the Ram logo is a default logo for testing purposes. The plan is to have over 80 pre-defined teams with unique logos and names. However, everything is customizable.

Hi, I'm having an issue loading my save files. Whenever I try to load a save file, I'm taken to a screen for Akron Bulls even though my save has nothing to do with that team. Any help is appreciated!

It seems like we have an issue where we forgot to save all data correct. We will fix this so it should work in next release (end of this week)

The Victory Hockey League (VHL) is an ice hockey simulation forum that anybody can enjoy. You don't even need to be an ice hockey fan! It's super easy to start and begin playing. All you have to do is create an account, and then choose what position you want your player playing. You can choose between goaltender, defenseman, left wing, right wing, and centerman. After you're done creating your player, you start off with 30 TPE to use. You're probably wondering, what is "TPE?" TPE is a virtual currency you use to upgrade your player's attributes. You get several attributes you can put your TPE into. Before you use your 30 TPE, make sure you know what type of player you want to build

. Your build could be anywhere from a power forward to an offensive defenseman, the possibilities are truly endless. TPE is earned by doing point tasks which could be anywhere from a graphic to writing a VHL-related article. After the beginning, you will be put through the task of entering the VHLM (Victory Hockey League Minors) draft. Your potential destination can be anywhere, you'll just have to wait and see. Once you get drafted by a VHLM team, you will be able to communicate with your team's GM. Your GM will help you get situated, and will make sure you become a hardworking, successful player throughout your VHLM career. (NOTE: Player simulations are simulated through a simulation engine)

Once you get drafted by a VHLM team, you get to play there for one year and then get drafted by a VHL team. Also don't worry, you can play in the VHLM for 2 years to develop your player even more. Once you reach the VHL, you get to do a lot of the things you'd do in the National Hockey League (in real life professional ice hockey league). You can get traded, become a free agent, discuss a contract with your GM, and become a freaking legend.

Yeah, its rough going at this alone but I don't plan on quitting on my game, no matter how long it takes to finish. I'm almost 100% sure you guys will finish yours before I finish mine LOL

We know exactly how you fell, and our biggest issue is that we don't have all the knowledge of how all the aspects around a college team are. Things like depth charts, scheduling, recruiting etc. are all stuff that we need to google before implementing

You seem to have some good UI work right now, not sure you would want to put things on hold to make the switch.

Are you using WPF or Winforms?

There's some things I do in Winforms that would need to be completely rewritten for xaml (UWP also uses xaml) if I do decide to make the switch.. But my game is super early in development that I can afford to switch but it'll definitely put development on hold for a bit.

Very excited to see the growth of this! I'm working on an indoor football simulator myself in visual studio (written in c#) but it's not nearly ready to show off lol

If you ever want to bounce some ideas off someone let me know. I would love to talk shop about my work as well.

Hey - checked out the game and am really intrigued. I think it could catch steam. I agree with the injuries comment above. Also agree that there needs to be some sort of comparison on the 'Squad' menu, show their numbers or such. I also can not go back screen from looking at a player then back to squads, have to reclick back in menu. I have had a couple wack players. A 6'7 310lb receiver wearing 77 with 84 agility on Arkansas State lol. In my game, there is nothing under practice menu - just system.object or something similar to that. Interested to see where you all go with this.... one thing that intrigues me (maybe its in it and I havent gotten far enough) but staffing carousel, hiring/firing coordinators and them moving on to other schools. That would we wild.

The CFA is absolutely alive and kicking.. We are in the offseason of our 21st season! We just moved to the PF19 platform and have our fingers crossed for OOTP FOF9 to have online play when it finally releases...

We have several openings, a team for any occasion (playoffs, decent, rebuilding)! If you're interested in more info, hit me up via email at [email protected] or visit our website http://cfa-football.com (please don't respond here as I don't visit often)

Yes, back in the day it was the best football sim out there. While the graphics were less than what was available in Madden at the time, the depth, customizability, and playability of this game was second to none. I'm looking forward to traveling back in time 21 years to enjoy this game again!

I believe there will be several areas of customization. Team Logos, Conference Logos, Team Fields for the 2D play, if you do map in the players, perhaps randomize their names but have similar attributes.. then all it takes is a playername database replacement... Plenty of things to consider.. people like customization to mod schedules, conferences, etc..

From my experiences with both the owners of Bowl Bound College Football and DDS College Football , they didn't put themselves at risk. They ended up allowing a site like us to offer customization or mod options to get users there. It would be at arm's length because it is the equivalent of the user just changing the labels themselves. They then allow for the option to change team names and conference names as a feature.

That's the best I know about it and it seems to be the least amount of risk.
