  1. First we can't actually see your team unless we are in the same game world thus linking it like that is a waste of time. If you want us to see your team screenshot it and post the screenshot.

Second I don't see the same issues that you are talking about in the game world I am in thus it makes me think one of two things. 1. Bizarre isolated incident. 2. Your over exaggerating the situation and/or not being forthcoming about horrific team management that you can't get yourself out of a la old players that you are stuck with.

If you are in the fastest league(s) there are somethings you need to realize.

    1. There was a massive over build up of players 90+ overall leaving the world over saturated with extremely high overall players. Anders had to counter this immediately thus he made it very hard for players to keep "topped up" skills topped up. He also had to counter the excessive over growth of younger players that was creating an over saturation of extremely high overall players thus he slowed down the development pace of players. If one or both of these factors of player development needs to be adjusted in the future they most definitely will when they need to.

    2. The fastest leagues were breaking the sim engine and while not near as big of an issue now they still give the sim engine a good working over. Also Anders is adding more sim detail into the sim engine. Both of these combined are going to cause the sim to go slower.

Finally it is hardly a wasted season if it is less than 20 games in. Learn some patience. Every team is going to go through tough stretches. Yes injuries can cause teams to miss the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Lightning is the most recent shining example of such. If you don't like that too bad. Sorry to be brutal about it but it is something we all have to deal with in due time. The better managers do a better job dealing with injuries via making sure that they have good players in reserve before they actually need such players. That doesn't mean that they are immune to injuries. It just lessens the impact that injuries have.

Finally in terms of trading with the CPU be reasonable with your offers and I don't doubt that they will actually go through.

  2. Anders is working on a NHL style game world.

As for "unfair" promotion position it is going to just be a natural issue jumping from the SHL to the GHL regardless of any trade abuse. So few 80+ overall players are interested in playing in the SHL and those that are willing are exceptionally expensive so SHL teams cant afford many of them. On the other hand 80+ overall players are going to be exclusively bottom of the lineup type of players for GHL teams. That means that there ends up being a notable skill gap between SHL teams and GHL teams that any promoting SHL team has to find a way to overcome. A massive majority of SHL teams try to carry over a large number of players and that just isn't a viable tactic if you actually want to stay in the GHL, especially when the margin for error for a GHL team in terms of making the playoffs or being at risk for demotion has become so small.

By the way I was wanting to do my own version of these before this season started but alas I just couldn't find the time before the first game.

  3. Pearl had one good season in the last four (hasn't played any better for Vandals either) and I easily found as good or better replacements on his line.  Lack of skill isn't the problem and Pearl only had a handful of points when I sent him packing, the primary reason I did, but I agree, my team has been a big funk ever since.  Who knows, maybe the best thing to do is get relegated and start fresh.  I know I have learned a good bit more about how to build a solid team (present results not included!) than I did with the team I came into the GHL with.  But honestly, starting literally from scratch (say for my starting G) sounds exhausting during free agency, haha.

The first difference is the player you got in return can't win draws whereas Pearl was one of the best. That difference alone can actually be a big deal. Second Pearl was never going to put up much more in points from where you had him in the lineup and how you were utilizing him. That isn't your fault rather it is a trend I see in this game. The Vandals are using him in the exact same way you were by the way hence the lack of points with the Vandals too. And to be frank Pearl should never have been there to put up a lot of points. He just isn't that kind of offensive player. Think of Pearl as someone similar to Anisimov or Bonino. Solid, reliable two way players that can chip in offensively time to time. Finally I thought Pearl was actually playing well for you. Not great granted but I thought that he was still playing well for you. That said the player you got in return is more of an offensive player that can't win draws.

  4. Steve I think what is going on with your team is the fallout of your trade involving Pearl. The play of your team really fell off after you traded him away. That may not have been the cause completely but it seems like after that trade the bottom just fell out of your team.

As for the other person I would have to see more than what those pictures show to provide any help.

  5. Thanks Lumberjack Matt - solid re-direct.

I also didn't reply to him again for the same reason. He is on a witch hunt without any logic or justification behind it. He isn't concerned about if a trade may or may not be balanced much less whom it favors. If he sees any sort of trade that he doesn't like for whatever reason he is reporting it. The worse thing is his exceptionally toxic attitude. I fully get not liking people who are continuously exploiting the game because I don't like them either but... Also if your going to use the report function to report a suspicious trade at least use it properly as intended and report lopsided human to AI trades only. If you see a suspicious human to human trade report it to Anders or a forum mod and let it be investigated from there. That doesn't strictly go to him by the way as it goes to everyone.

That said he did bring up one point I should make public regarding the trade. Specifically why I gave so much. In my opinion fair value for the goalie was at most the Dman and the 3 forwards. The goalie I gave was in the trade because the SHL manager wanted a goalie back for his goalie and the only goalie I could send was the goalie I did send back. Me and the SHL manager made a gentleman's agreement. If the SHL team did not promote to the GHL before the contract of the goalie I gave expires I would get the goalie back. To compensate for that I would give him what we both agreed was full trade value for his goalie, the defenseman and the 3 forwards, to go with my goalie so that way should he not promote and ends up giving the goalie back through honoring the agreement he still ended up getting full compensation anyways up front. If he makes the GHL before the contract expires he gets to keep the goalie as well as the other players in the trade.

  6.    Good lord!   Yet another game administrator/adviser, with a selective memory problem!

Do you really think we are all that stupid?  Seriously?

3 weeks ago: you made a 5-for-1 trade, with an SHL team.   (Season 9, day 24.)

(For any that want to view said trade: GW Biscuit, go to "Transfers" page, then click on second tab: "Transactions", and scroll-down to day 24.)

Myself, and others have been banned for much lesser infractions.

This game has serious hypocritical, protectionist, two-tier problems.

And yet again: it is arrogantly suggested that it is poor-losers that are reporting you.  Total diversion technique, that shows you have nothing but contempt and disrespect for other managers. Thanks man.

Sad that you and the others are having success playing this game, by getting-away with activities that only reserved for the elite.   Glad that it makes you feel good about being a superior manger.

Sad to imagine what new players reading this, will think.

Like George Carlin said: " It's a big club, and you ain't in it".    (Meaning us, the plebe.)

It wasn't with an AI team einstein which is what the report function is for first and foremost. The manager of the SHL team proposed the trade to me too. I tried to talk them out of the trade in terms of them not getting immediate trade value in return despite them winning the trade long term. They still felt confidant enough to want the trade.

In terms of the trade and what went both ways I got what will never be more than a very good backup or ok starter goalie in return for what should be an equivalent goalie now if the game hadn't screwed me in development but will be a quality GHL starter down the road in Klavins (he should be developing at 5+ overall a season if he plays for at least 3 more seasons fyi making him nearly 90 overall,) what will be a good GHL defenseman in a few seasons in Steegman, what will be a good GHL goalscorer in Enrik Castles in about the same time and 2 forwards that, if they develop, will be quality 3rd or 4th line forwards for a GHL team. Since they went to a SHL team the players they got are what will be by the end of this season an elite SHL goalie that can be carried into the GHL as a quality starter, a cornerstone SHL defenseman to build around that will also be carried into the GHL, a cornerstone goalscorer to build around that can be carried into the GHL and 2 forwards that can make a real impact at the SHL level that may be able to be carried into the GHL. In return I got a goalie that they couldn't resign and I could use in emergency if I end up not finding someone to replace Loveday in 2 or so years. That said Bockastael will never be a high quality starting GHL goalie like Klavins will in at least 3 or 4 seasons.

So yeah I sure hosed a SHL team with that trade. Good catch there. Seriously dude not all 5 for 1 trades are lopsided in favor of the GHL team. Heck that should never have been a 5 for 1 trade as I gave way more than I should have for what I got in return. So please don't be stupid and crass like this. It isn't needed. However if you can explain how trading a definite starting GHL goalie in about 3 seasons time, a quality GHL defenseman in about the same time (Steegman should be gaining 4-5 overall for the next 4 or so seasons,) a quality GHL goalscorer again in about the same time (Castles should develop at about the same pace as Steegman) and 2 potential depth forwards for what amounts to what will be nothing more than a decent starter at best with another human manager is cheating the AI in a trade (never mind ripping off a SHL team) I will concede the point and reverse the trade or even do more.

  7. I should have said this when it happened but I got reported for cheating March 30th (less than 2 weeks ago) when I haven't made a trade in nearly a full season. Clearly there is someone using the report function in the very wrong way. Steve I think you mentioned about getting reported by someone after your trade with the Vandals. I think this is what was going on. Someone just using it in angst rather than using it for what it should be used for. For the record of what it is worth (not much so don't read into this) I beat the Portland Oilers in OT on that day and beat Violet Volcano and York Wolfpack in the same manner in the days prior.

  8.

Almost half way through the season and minutemen still outside of playoff picture :o

A very slow start will do that. It took the Protons about half of the season just to climb into a playoff spot a few seasons ago for the same reason. I am just out of the playoffs points wise as it is so no concern.

  9. the offer I gave for that was fair! they are not useless player at all...(they are ov 83) they can also help that team a lot! also giving my 1st round (12th atm) with a young rookie ov 79 for only 1 player! yes he's one of the best but giving 3 players with avg ov 82 for only 1 player are pretty fair at my eyes

but I didnt abuse of that! you can see in history that I never MAKE trade! only free agent or accept offer from others teams

It was anything but fair. The players you sent in return are useless. The only thing remotely decent that you sent in return was your 1st round pick. Everything else is table scraps at best when it comes to quality in the GHL. That is clearly abuse of the AI trade system. Also how can you possibly think sending a lot of players 82ish overall fair value for a 92 overall player? If you really think it is fair let me send you 4 of my 82ish overall players for the same player. At least the players I would send you will be more usable in the GHL then what you sent.

Also in regards to your claims of not making trades I have a few messages in my mailbox I sent as evidence of abusing the AI in this game with about 10 trades of yours from your past GHL team that you abandoned when you couldn't dig it out of trouble by making such trades and your current team when you took it over that very much says that you have a very noticeable history of making such trades with the AI.

  10. It is known repeat offenders. The most recent person I have a long list of bad trades they did in the past with their first GHL team in a message I sent to Anders. That first team, no matter how many lopsided trades the manager did, the team couldn't pull itself out of the bottom 4 a number of seasons back to back. Said manager then left that GHL team more than halfway through the season the team did demote just to take up a SHL team, make a number of said trades with that team to stack it and is the team he has now.

Also such managers should really be happy that I am not a moderator. I would be insta banning IPs or reversing the trades and demolishing said persons team at this point for such continuous repeat offenders if I could. There is a reason I did not want and do not want to become a mod and I am sure Anders doesn't want a vigilante mod. Such action is an insta ban to the mod as well but some people, and I will put this forum friendly, are just too stupid to resist exploiting the AI in a multiplayer game and I am not willing to do nothing if I feel like not enough is being done if I can do something.

  11. It very much does add random players from FA. I usually try to have a minimum of 2 backup forwards and 1 backup Dman and one season I had 5 forwards get hurt close enough together that they were all out at the same time. It added a random player from FA.

  12. A game world like this is going to be about 1/3rd the size population wise compared to what we currently have. I don't know what the cost side would be but I think it is safe to assume smaller population per world isn't good per se. That said I think this format is a great format for testing. Pluses and minuses aside this was in the long term ideas that Anders had some time ago. I would love to see it happen.

  13. I am offering 3 players to teams either looking to make the playoffs or to add depth for a deep playoff run. In terms of return I am looking to negotiate as I have nothing specific in mind.

    C Frederic Donegan http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=15041

A top 6 scorer at the center position.

    F Nathan Berry http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=4197

A bottom 9 playmaker that is also responsible defensively. For most playoff capable teams more of a bottom 6 player but can still add valuable depth offense.

    D Marius McGovern http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=3731

A very good defensive Dman that can play on any D line.

I also have 2 cheap players that can be used in depth roles.

    C Loke Hurtig http://www.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=4161

A bottom 6 forward that is offensively focused.

    F Zackary Guernon

A 4th line winger that is young. Can do a bit of everything that you may been a 4th line to do but does nothing particularly well.

  14. Once you are a few games into a season the only to offer a contract to a player is for them to get unhappy with their contract. This means that the only way to try to resign players on one year deals is to either offer them a contract at the very beginning of a season or wait until the season is over. If you wait until the season is over to see if you can resign you make a big risk in losing them based upon them not willing to stick with your team when they demote.

  15. The answer to #1 is look at the confidence of the team you are playing from the league above as well as the roster. I got to the GHL by beating a team significantly better than me 2 games to 1 in the playoffs. I am confidant that it all came down to the team confidence. The GHL team had very low team confidence whereas my team had very high team confidence. The confidence of a team is as relevant as the skill. This is a big reason as to why the early part of a season can be complete chaos in terms of results.

As for #2 it all depends upon the situation of your team. Personally I would just go for it like I did. My team was in no real condition to play in the GHL when I promoted via playoffs and I had to basically rebuild my entire team through FA that offseason. For you if you don't promote you will likely have to do some sort of rebuild as you lose those players. However if you make the GHL you will have to basically rebuild the top end of your team if you want to really be competitive. One way or another you are going to have to do a rebuild to some degree next season by the looks of it. So why not just go for it and try to do it, and try to make it, in the GHL?

  16. Absolutely yes choose one and stick with it. Remember that the tactics you are switching back and forth on are drastically different play styles that you are asking your team to play. If you watch the NHL you will hear every once in a while people mention a teams identity or lack thereof. This is exactly what they are talking about.

It is deliberately impossible to get two different tactics to 100% because professional teams don't do it unless something is very wrong. You will never see LA go from their physical defensive game to an offensive speed game. You won't ever see Pittsburgh do the opposite.

  17. It's 3/4 of the way through the season. Yes, I had changed defensive tactics 5 games or so prior because my results were inconsistent. Since those three horrible games I have won four straight but that's how the season has been going. I've just made a few trades, shedding great talent that wasn't going to sign with me next year for a better goalie. We'll see what that does for me!

Changing tactics will completely kill any sort of consistency as your team learns the new system. However where you are is the ideal time to change it. Make sure you change it to what you want to use for a long time.

  18. And let's be honest the 'reporting a cheater -button' does not work as it should

It works. It just takes a number of managers to prevent trolling or misuse. Unless you want just two or three people hitting it to cause an effect.

In regard to your method of using the forums to report it it is pretty much naming and shaming. That is just bad. Look at this thread as to why. The proper way to do it is via PMs not the forums. There are also different chats that can be used for more immediate interactions.

  19. While patience is a good thing 7 goals repeatedly in a short span is only indicative that something is wrong. The problem for me is that I can't see your team, analyze it and look at the games to see about tactics. Did you or have you changed anything regarding tactics recently? Also is it early in the season? While it is a bad sign that you gave up 7 goals in two games the first 10 to 15 games is almost a crap shoot when it comes to results.

  20. I have the same question that just popped up in my head. I'm just wondering has anything changed since this was posted? If not, what option - offensive, defensive, or general - is the most effective at increasing faceoff strength. I currently have 2 phenomenally bad faceoff takers :P

None of the options. The only way to grow them is to basically have them take faceoffs. However if they are that bad it would very likely be better off for you to play them on the wing and find players that are capable of winning draws to play C.
