#32179 Introduce yourself

Posted by canucks on January 11, 2018 - 01:39 PM

Hey guys,

Giving it a shot in a slower World. Took over the last team in the World I believe. Can't wait to build some close relationships in this World and make it to the top! Let's see how we do in our first season  :)

I'm just getting the feel of my team (Kingston Assassins in SHL) atm, so feel free to send in any offers, suggestions, etc. I'm willing to listen to anything right now  :D

#31607 NA-style World?

Posted by canucks on December 08, 2017 - 02:13 PM

I'm quite sure we could get some of the vets back as well. Like Scorevat, Renegades, etc.

Definitely agree that the draft and affiliate systems would really begin to make sense in this format. There'd be a point to "tanking", etc. I think even just building the community via the human-human interactions is quite an incentive by itself to get this World started.

I'm not sure what the demographics are with the GMs playing GPH...I know a more than a few are NA-based, so we'd all jump at a chance to play something that embodies the NHL structure, with some tweaks perhaps.

#31595 NA-style World?

Posted by canucks on December 07, 2017 - 10:31 PM

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd create a thread to continue the discussions in the chat. Some of us were wondering if an NA-style World would be possible. NHL format. 30 teams (or the 31 if u wanna be legit  ;) ). I can almost guarantee that we'd have enough people sign up for that. With a World fully composed of human GMs, I think we can definitely use that as a point to grow the community and keep people interested in the game.

I know the new Dangles World was kinda created for similar reasons, but honestly speaking, I don't think its had a positive impact in any sense. Feel free to disagree

Thoughts, comments?

@Anders, could we please put some real thought into this matter? I've brought this up a few times now in the forums, but its always kinda died out since we don't really get anything started.

#30768 Disable Computer Trading Completely?

How many people play on Mitts? You need a pretty full World if we want to try no computer trading.

#30709 Disable Computer Trading Completely?

Posted by canucks on October 26, 2017 - 06:09 PM

Hiya guys,

Just a thought that came to some of our minds as we were discussing in the chat. What if we could disable computer trading completely? Instead of the Day 20 deadline, how about just getting rid of computer trading totally?

Any thoughts?

I feel like we could definitely try this, especially with the new Worlds. I'm sure it'll fill up pretty quickly, and we could keep it really competitive between human managers.

@Anders, could we please consider this before the Day 20 deadline hits?

#29990 Don't wanna see results before play by play

+1

I usually just end up skimming the Scorecard. It'd be great to have some version of this up asap, atleast until Live Games are implemented.

#29911 [Transfer Market] - More In-Depth Filters

Posted by canucks on September 14, 2017 - 11:45 AM

I guess I'm making a parallel between us putting effort into searching for certain players and RL scouts finding players to draft, sign, etc. I suppose there's gotta be a balance between making the game like RL and comfortable for GMs as well.

#29910 [Transfer Market] - More In-Depth Filters

Posted by canucks on September 14, 2017 - 11:39 AM

@Erzac, I see what you mean. However, that's not how it works in RL right....yeah, you can sort through databases of players' stats, etc. But you can't really do that with personality types (in GPH - Profiles). That would be something even scouting would reveal little about (off-ice stuff involved as well). So, it kinda makes sense that we sorta need to manually sift through those things, but pairing those filters with your team personnel efficiency might be an idea worth looking at. Just something that came to mind as I was reading through the above posts, didn't really put much thought into how it would actually work.

Come to think of it, I suppose you could make a case that even in RL, you would be able to get an idea of a player's Profile via their contract history, performance in big games, etc. For example, if you want to search for Big Game players, you'd look into player history in Elimination games, Tournaments, Playoffs, Game 7's, etc.

Hope that kinda makes sense. Sorry for the rambling :D

Maybe somehow link the available filters to how good your scouts are (when team personnel are added)? Not sure how that might work tho.

Bruh, jabs coming from everywhere now ;P

In the chat, forums.....

#29834 Sign Rookie or Leave in Jr? thoughts?

Posted by canucks on September 11, 2017 - 12:58 PM

Agreed. You could also give him some experience in case of injuries, etc. I'm signing and assigning any prospects that I plan on playing on my team somewhere down the line. Others that I think won't make my team are left as is, though I guess it might help for me to sign them, get them to grow more, and THEN trade them.....might have to re-think that :D

#29708 "I'm happy with my current contract", Impossible to plan for next...

Posted by canucks on September 05, 2017 - 09:55 PM

I suppose its sort of like RL players not wanting to get distracted with contract negotiations during the season/playoffs. Our "season" is set up differently though, so the suggestions definitely make sense.

I really like the idea of the player hinting at his intended stance even before the 37/57 deadline as well! Stuff like this would make the game more realistic and add to the complexity of the game. In reality, every player would have his own way of negotiating.

#29543 adding a team,

True, didn't even think of affiliate teams.

#28617 Powerplay Went 2/1

Yeah, it might've just been a major penalty. That was the explanation given when someone had reported something like this some time ago.

#28565 Pre release v1.3.0 - Affiliate teams

Posted by canucks on July 17, 2017 - 02:35 PM

Also, would it make sense to make it such that players who've spent majority of their careers in the affiliate teams will be much more likely to continue to sign 2-way contracts? Not sure if that's already a thing? It'd be for players who usually play in the minors and get called up here and there for injury replacements.
