  1. At the beginning of the season this year we put Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2017 to the test and simulated the 2016-17 season. Now with the regular season in the books lets take a look back and see what sort of predictions the game made and how accurate they turned out.

But before we get on to the results we’re running a special playoff pricing sale on DDS:PB 2017 – you can save nearly 30% on the game right now in our webstore and don’t forget to pickup its college counterpart Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 2017 while you’re at it!

OK so let’s start with the championship prediction – the game predicted Golden State would take home the crown and there’s a pretty good chance that might happen but it did predict they would defeat Indiana to do so. Indiana looked a whole lot better on paper (and in code) before the season but they did make the playoffs so I guess we will have to see how that one plays out still.

As for the division winners DDS:PB predicted Boston, Indiana and Atlanta in the East with Golden State, San Antonio and OKC out West. Boston, Golden State and San Antonio all won their divisions while Atlanta and OKC finished second and Indiana only finished in third.

Other playoff teams predicted were Cleveland, Orlando, Charlotte, Philly and Chicago (2/5 there) and LA, Sacramento, Houston, Portland and Minnesota (3/5 there)

DDS:PB 17 predicted James Harden would thrive in Mike D’Antoni’s offense and would lead the league in scoring – he finished second to Russell Westbrook.

Speaking of Beastbrook – the game predicted he would go for 28.6/9.2/7.1 which at the time seemed like really lofty numbers. Instead he averaged 31.6/10.4/10.7 – just averaged a triple double per game, no big deal…Our favorite quote from our preview was “Our sim shows him dropping 40 or more 11 times out of 82 games. The crazy thing is that number might actually be low!” – turns out we were right to suspect that could be low as he did it 18 times including 4 50+ games! Maybe he used a cheat code!

Our other Misc Predictions from the game

    • Brandon Ingram wins ROY – almost certainly will not be the case
    • Dallas wins the lottery while paying Barnes 90+ million for 13.5 PPG – Barnes averaged 19.2 PPG but Dallas did miss the playoffs and could win the lottery
    • Chicago shoots 45% from the field due to spacing issues with Rondo, Wade and Butler all on the same team – Chicago actually only shot 43.2% from the floor
    • Biggest disappointment Toronto – Toronto did manage to be the three seed in the East but in our defense we said we figured them missing the playoffs was an outlying event with the sim and that they might need to make a move during the season which they did in getting Ibaka.
    • Least surprising team Houston – we predicted Houston would give up 111.9 PPG but they actually were only 5th worst in the league giving up 109.6 PPG. Defense took a back seat in the league this year as 5 teams including Houston gave up more PPG than the worst team did the prior year. Guess we can expect a scoring bump in DDS:PB 2018

All in all we’re pretty pleased with the realism and accuracy of the sim and it gets better with each version. Don’t forget to get in our our playoff sale while you can and look for more blog posts from us as we will sim the conference and league finals again this season.

  3. I'm still getting lots of reports of people not able to access certain pages, especially My League List. The best option is to clear your browser's history /cache. Depending on your browser, go to Google and search for "Clear cache in Chrome" or "Clear cache in Firefox" or "Clear cache in Safari iOS" etc. Google will give you basic instructions on how to clear your cache. If you are having trouble with the mobile app, you'll need to clear the cache of the Safari iOS browser (or in the case of the Android app, the Android web browser).NEW NOTE: Users have reported uninstalling and re-installing the app on your phone also works. Another option is to access the website via http://test.pennantchase.com. You will have to login again, but then should be able to use the site as normal. Unfortunately, I don't have any control of clearing this up for people - what happened was, our hosting provider pointed our domain back to an older version of the website around 2:00 PM PST on 4/4. For a few hours, people were going to the wrong site, and when this happened, your browser saved that old domain in its history/cache. I fixed the issue around 5:00 PM PST, but folks who visited the website during the downtime were hanging onto the old information. That's why some people are having the issue, and some people are not. (Or why one browser might work fine for you, but another browser won't.)Please continue to reach out to me if you have issues, and I am hopefully this starts clearing up for people soon.

  6. Asset to support release note on TE.com HEADER

    Hello Managers!

From April 17th, 2017 we will retire the Flash Player version of Top Eleven. This means that you will no longer be able to play the old version of Top Eleven.

All Managers who are currently playing the old version will be able to continue playing normally with their very same club on:

    - our official site http://www.topeleven.com/play/

    - our application on Facebook

    - our application for iOS and Android devices

The decision to stop supporting the Flash Player version of Top Eleven was tough, particularly in regard to those Managers who enjoy playing on it, but it will allow us to put more energy into the quality of the current Top Eleven 2017 and future versions.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience of removing this option for good.

  8. It’s here – the day we NEED to be turned into a national holiday. It’s TOURNAMENT TIME BABY! That’s right, sound the trumpets, grab your favorite snacks and a cold beverage and prepare to not leave your couch until Monday. We know that every year people fill out millions of brackets with such scientific methods such as which team has the best BPI Rank while holding their opponents to the lowest PPG or, you know, which team has the coolest looking mascot. We decided to try another method – we’re using the brand new Tournament Maker feature in  Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 2017 along with some custom ratings for each team and see what the game thinks.

Now a scientific study this hardly is – we ran one sim and if you think we created actual player and player ratings for 64 teams you’re crazy. We just adjusted the initial team prestige to generate a league, setup the tournament and voila. It may not be perfect but it’s at least as good as picking the brackets based on which teams wear your favorite colors. So lets fire this up – and remember, it’s all in fun.

Before we begin – don’t forget you can do this yourself. The Tournament Maker feature is just one of the new features in DDS:CB 2017 this year and of course you can grab hold of your favorite team and lead them to the tournament yourself over and over again while you play out your storied coaching career. Click the link in the opening paragraph to learn all about the game.

    EAST REGION

    east-1024x393.png

Well the East Region starts pretty chalky and then all hell breaks lose in the second round as Wisconsin pulls off a major upset knocking out last year’s champs paving the way for a Virginia/SMU showdown with SMU advancing.

    WEST REGION

    west-1024x393.png

Looks like some interesting fireworks on the docket for the West region although top seed Gonzaga gets out and you know that a 12 is going to take down a 5 – looks like DDS:CB 2017 suggests candidate one for that job is Princeton.

    MIDWEST REGION

    midwest-1024x393.png

It happened last year when Middle Tennessee upset perennial March juggernaut Michigan State, Dunk City made it happen in 2013 and it happened TWICE in 2012 – could we see another 15 v 2 upset? While it seems very unlikely DDS:CB 2017 wasn’t afraid to go out on a limb and predict that Jacksonville State would be this year’s Cinderella. The upset throws this bracket upside down paving the way for Oklahoma State to take it home – after all if they can beat a team like Michigan they clearly are an amazing team!

    SOUTH REGION

    south-1024x393.png

Speaking of Middle Tennessee, if any team is in position for the annual 12 seed upset it could be them and Butler has been no stranger to some March magic. This has to be possibly the toughest of the four brackets with North Carolina, Kentucky and UCLA all as contenders and the simulation shows Butler making a nice run but not quite enough to slide past Kentucky.

    FINALS

    finals-1024x108.png

So – who wins it all? Who should you be scrambling to take as you fill out your final brackets before tip-off? Well, Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 2017 says Gonzaga takes it home. I guess it helps they only have to go through a six and a ten seed in the finals but who wants a boring, chalky final anyway? That’s the best thing about the tournament – its unpredictable and anything can happen. So happy tournament watching – enjoy the greatest day in sports of the year!

  9. March is just around the corner and sports fans know that can mean only one thing…its tournament time, baby!

This press release is written and courtesy of the Wolverine Studios development company with slight modifications:

So the big question is what’s new for Draft Day Sports: College Basketball 2017? Before we dive into the new features let’s talk about some upgrades. We’ve upgraded the AI to make teams even better at recruiting – especially transfer and JUCO players and we’ve also given you sliders to control the amount of injuries, the recruiting difficulty level and the threshold of patience level before you and other coaches get the boot as head coach! We’ve also upped the customization of your league – you can now edit most tournament info and even swap teams around conferences through the in-game commissioners office for more control over your game world. But that’s not even close to being all. Here’s an in-depth look at some of our favorite new features – all screen shots are shown at 1920×1017 resolution – smaller resolutions can play the game but may not see all the windows present.

    NEW USER INTERFACE

We’ve tweaked the UI to make navigation easier and faster. You’ll notice the new team menu bar at the top for you to quickly switch between teams and the expanded menu below it offering depth chart and sub matrix as their own destinations rather than accessing them through the roster page. We’ve also changed the bar at the bottom to include links to those same screens except that they always remain tied to your team so you can feel free to look through your association with the top menu and can always come back to your team pertinent info with one click.

    TOURNAMENT MAKER MODE

Brand new to the game is an exhibition mode we call Tournament Maker. This feature allows you to take any one of your created associations and hold a 64 team exhibition tournament letting you sim out the results or play any and every game yourself.

    NEW IN-GAME TOURNAMENTS

We didn’t leave all the new tournament fun for exhibition mode. Your season play now consists of a fourth post-season tournament as well as six brand new pre-season tournaments. Best of all we’ve given you both the ability to edit the names/logos for most of the pre-season tournaments and using the home office screen there is a new link for Tournaments & Dates which will give you a link to the above screen so that you can see a recap of all 14 pre-season tournaments at once.

    QUICK RECRUITING FEATURE

We know the job of recruiting can be a tough one so if you’re looking to move through it quicker without turning duties over to the AI we’re introducing “quick recruiting” – just simply add players to your watch list and activate the check box on the recruiting screen and you’ll be able to scroll through all the recruits you are watching and assign your weekly instructions right then and there without leaving to go to each individual recruit card. If you prefer the old method you simply don’t check the quick recruit option box and you will be able to double-click on the recruits to bring up their card and recruit from there. Nothing has been taken away – only added functionality to make the experience better for everyone!

    PRESTIGE TRACKING

Did you ever wish you could look back and see just how far you’ve lead your team in the past decade? Well now you’ll be able to look at a graph of your team’s prestige throughout time as well as having the option to comparing it to any team you wish or even to a conference as a whole!

    LINEUP TRACKING

Stats are becoming more and more important in basketball and you need all the information you can get which is why we’ve included lineup tracking in DDS:CB 2017. Get a look at every lineup you use and see how effective each one is so you know exactly where to look for when its time to shake things up and make lineup adjustments!

    EXPANDED NEWS FEATURES

Every day you can get a daily news blurb on players from around the association but through the Media tab on the home office we’re introducing a season long recap of the biggest and best highlights. Look for stories on top matchups, outstanding performances and even which coaches are on the hot seat.

    From GM Games (Final Note)

We will be hosting soon the full court images, college team logos, and any player names etc when they become available. Keep an eye out for these mods to appear on GM Games.

  11. This year’s big game sure looks like an exciting matchup. The high flying Atlanta offense sporting the league MVP at quarterback versus one of the all-time great QBs looking for ring number five. Since DDS: Pro Football developer Brooks Piggott just released an update to our 2016 game which included rosters from this season we thought lets fire up another edition of We Simmed It and find out who’s going to win the big one.

If our simulation is any indication of what will take place on the field we’re in for a real treat. Here’s the scoring recap by quarter

    1st QUARTER :

Atlanta draws first blood on a 3 yd TD run by Tevin Coleman (7-0 ATL)

Tom Brady ties it up with a 21 yard TD pass to Julian Edelman (7-7)

    2nd QUARTER :

The MVP pulls Atlanta ahead again with a 20 yard strike to Nick Williams (14-7 ATL)

New England drives and ends the half with a 17 yd FG by Stephen Gostkowski (14-10 ATL)

    3rd QUARTER :

Not much action here until Tom Brady drops a 19 yard TD pass to Chris Hogan with about five minutes to go (17-14 NE)

    4th QUARTER :

Matty Ice once again gives the ATL the lead with a 3 yard TD pass to Austin Hooper (21-17 ATL)

With just over two minutes to go in the game LeGarrette Blount punches one in from a yard out which looks like it will give Brady ring number 5 (24-21 NE)

But…just as a MVP would be expected to do…Ryan moves the team down the field but time is running out. Ryan drops back and finds Julio Jones (who else) who beats his man and then outruns everyone else to the house for a 60 yard TD to win the championship! (28-24 ATL)

We will see how it plays out tomorrow – if you want to see for yourself get yourself a copy of DDS: Pro Football 2016 – it’s even on a reduced price in our webstore. Here’s the box score from our simulation – definitely a classic!

  12. Greetings football fans! We know you’re gearing up for the big game this weekend and even though our football line was focused entirely on the release of DDS: College Football 2017 this season game developer Brooks Piggott still wanted to work up something on the pro game for his fans.

Brooks has released a FREE update to DDS:PF 2016 which includes the following

    1) New 2016-2017 rosters
    2) Fixes for bad team id’s in historical imports… should be able to re-create any league from 1970 forward (1960-1970 may be possible but I haven’t tested each year)
    3) Fixes for CSV export
    4) Fix for crashes when personalities were disabled
    5) Updated training camps
    6) Updated rank players screen
    7) Updated custom playbooks (filters and updating of weights)
    8) Added original position label to player form
    9) Updates to prevent/penalize backs going over 25-30 carries.

If you haven’t purchased DDS: Pro Football 2016 then head over to the webstore and get your copy now. If you do have the game and would like the free update or just want to try out a free demo of it then hit up our downloads page and you can grab it there. Enjoy the big game!

  13. Recapping 2016And just like that, another year is gone. It's hard to believe 2017 is already upon us. As I mentioned in a recent podcast, the past year was mostly a calm one for Pennant Chase. The major accomplishments were clearing out a bunch of Auto Leagues so that folks wouldn't have to wait around so long for leagues to fill, and starting the podcast, of which three episodes have now been posted. As always, 2016 MLB stats were loaded onto the site shortly after the season concluded - an annual accomplishment I continue to be proud of! After a crazy, hectic 2015, which featured the new mobile app, Player Potential, and Daily Drafts, 2016 was a year of stabilization.Shout out to our top usersUser kingstreet has been dominant the past several years, but we have some new "kings" in 2016. User sheikyerboudi had the most Auto League wins with 27,057. User plpl512 went 11,322 - 5,447 for a 2016-best .675 winning PCT, but props to papadharma who went 21,500 - 10,567 and finished with the second best PCT at .670.How many users do we have? After purging inactive users at the end of 2015, we were left with about 10,500 accounts. At the end of 2016, we ended up with nearly 12,000, so we gained about 125 users per month this year. But, after purging users at the end of 2016, another 3,000 accounts were deleted, making the new number of total accounts a little over 9,000.These numbers have been pretty consistent the past few years: we gain about 125 new people per month, or about 1,500 a year, but we purge about 3,000 inactive accounts, for a net loss of 1,500 accounts.Obviously if this trend continues, in a few years we may stabilize somewhere around 2,000-3,000 accounts. So what does this all mean? Ironically, I think we have the most passionate, active group of users that PC has ever seen on our website. As long as this great community is enjoying the site, I am not too worried about the total number of accounts. It's much harder to attract and retain users now than it was eight years ago when we first started. There are so many competing entertainment and gaming options, it's crazy. The site still makes about the same amount of money, which is obviously the key measure of viability, and means we can keep the lights on!What's coming up for Pennant Chase?I personally think the site could use a refresh on usability to make it more friendly to newbies and even those who have been around for a while. If I had to put one big goal out there for 2017, I think it would be to start testing some different approaches to re-imagining some of the key areas of the site. For example, message boards & personal inbox could use better features and usability all around. If I am able to redesign some areas, I'd love to use that as a launching point for a bigger marketing push.My other big push will be to start getting all of us to give reviews and ratings where possible, such as in the app store (our awesome mobile app needs some good reviews!). All of this work is an effort to help baseball fans find us so that your awesome leagues have great owners and this awesome site can keep on chugging for years to come. Thanks again for a great year, hope you all had a nice holiday season, and happy New Year!

  14. 17. Hi everyone,It's been a busy year personally and professionally, but I wanted to take a moment to pause and express my thanks for those who come to this website every day and make it such an awesome community. I'm especially thankful for those diehards who are always there to answer questions on the boards and help newcomers get acquainted with things. There's no way I could do it all. One exciting piece of news, I've tried my hand at creating a podcast, and hope to make this is a somewhat regular thing. Check out the first episode on itunes or Google Music by searching for baseball simulation, you should be able to find it. Here is the itunes links:https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/fantasy-baseball-simulation/id1175538167I've already gotten some great feedback on the board, and will be open to ideas for future episodes at any time!Stay tuned for the annual "state of Pennant Chase" and more podcast material. And have a great Thanksgiving weekend!
