Chris reacted to MattP598 in Interested in starting a Draft Day Sports College Football League
Not sure if this is the right place or not, so I apologize if not, but I'm interested in starting a Draft Day Sports College Football 19 Online league.  I've been playing the game online and offline for the past year and half or so and while it still needs some work, in my opinion, it is the best college football sim game(well that's all there is currently I believe) going right now.  I have played several....Bowl Bound, Gridiron Dynasty, Front Office Football, FootballCoach, and this one is by far the most fun I have had.  It's all still fairly new so I expect it to continue to get better.  If you have never tried the game you can get the demo or purchase it here..... https://www.wolverinestudios.com/draft-day-sports-college-football-simulation/
Currently it's 29.99, which seems a little high, but I currently have over a 1,000 hours in it so it's actually pretty good value for your money.  Discounts are offered to players who purchase the following versions as well like the 20 version when it releases, the typical year format used by EA and others doesn't happen here, it could be 6 months or 18months and the current game is always being updated).  It's also available on steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/1013700/Draft_Day_Sports_College_Football_2019/ I recommend purchasing through the website because steam users had to jump through some hoops to receive their discount this last time.

One of the main reasons I'm interested in starting a new league is in the 19 version they released a create a coach feature.  So you can create your own coach, you are able to set your stats(There are no limitations on this currently so you can max out everything however there will be restrictions in the league) and your coach's stats will actually progress dependent on how successful you are..... you can also be fired(this is an optional feature, i would like to vote on rules like this once I have a few people who would like to join.  However if you are fired you can take a job at another school it's not like you are kicked out of the league).

I plan to create a league website eventually.  I have worked as a web developer in the past so I have experience in building decent websites anyway, and the game allows exporting through html so it stays updated dynamically on it's own as well.  It also allows players to write up information about their team, if you are into the role-playing part of it a little bit, and export it to the site.  It's not a requirement or anything if you don't want to.

I'm open to ideas on rules, gameplay, things of that nature.  The league I'm currently in we sim every game(we sim on tuesdays, thursdays, and saturdays so we go through a season in about 5 weeks) and then it hides the scores and you can watch your games play out in a 2D/text format after each sim.  It's actually really fun doing your gameplanning, recruiting, training, and then watching it play out.  However, it also allows you the option to play out each game where you call the plays in realtime....so that is an option as well.

Once I have few players that are interested I plan on starting a slack channel to discuss things.  But for now, if anyone would be interested, or have any questions you can message me here or email me at [email protected].  Also if you would be interested in joining the league I'm currently in you can contact me about that as well.  We have probably 20 guys or so and you are allowed to have up to 3 teams, not everyone does, so there are plenty of teams available.  This is our league website(it's pretty barebones but this is just the site that is created just by the game itself so it's not moderated and it's still pretty decent) www.sncfl.us   This is a list of teams and owners so you can see who is available http://www.sncfl.us/LeagueOwners.html

I'd like to add that I'm in no way affiliated with the development of the game and do not get any money from this so this isn't an advertisement.  I'm just a rabid college football fan and figured there were others like me who are looking to fill the current college football gaming void.

Thanks, and once again I apologize if this is the wrong place for this, and if someone knows of other sites where I could potentially find new players I would appreciate it!

Chris reacted to GM Games in [itch.io Devlog] Biweekly release - 0.1.2
Hi everybody First of all we are happy to announce that we got ourself a forum over at http://gmgames.org ( http://forums.gmgames.org/forum/408-ct-football-manager/ ) so please check it out and use that for inputs on the game. We are also glad to announce the release of version 0.1.2 which can be downloaded here on itch.io. In the couple of weeks since last release we have focused most on implementing all GUI screens. This means that almost all screens are done we "just" need to implement all the logic behind them. One example of this is the transfer portal where we have started on it and also coded a lot of the functionality but we are still missing the core logic behind why a student wants a transfer, why he selects a specific college for transfer and the logic about immediate transfer...

I've been around a while, and have played alot of different sims in my life.  From playing Sports Illustrated Football (a board game), Electric Football and Basketball,  APBA Football (a card based game) to the more current computer and internet based games.  I much prefer the cerebral part of sims versus the mashing of buttons to make things work!  I'm a recent owner of DDS basketball and football games, and am getting into the mods and things.  Glad to be here, and glad to have found the newer games.  Also looking at OOTP games and the Football Manager as well.

    Thanks for having me,

I don't mean to be rude, but if only having 4 teams in the playoffs is a deal-breaker, then you must really hate College football in real life!!  Yes, it would be nice to be able to modify or change the number of teams in the playoffs, but I look at it as this is a simulation (meaning a sim of real life given the constraints of computer programming) of College football.  There are only 4 teams that vie for the championship now, so it is mimicking real world.

Thanks for the feedback. The game engine is still in a very early version, and one of the big tasks we have (and will soon look at ) is to optimize the engine. We have it planned for the next release after the one coming out next week

Hello and welcome to the forum for CT Football Manager.

It is still a game in progress but please feel free to comment, give suggestions and anything else.

We will from time to time ask for help with different aspects of college football since we don't know all the mechanisms around college football ourself, so we hope that you will be willing to help us

Game #1, Portland Pilots (0-0) at Colorado Buffaloes (0-0)

Before the game begins my eyes scan around Coors Events Center and I marvel at the size and beauty compared to the facilities where I’ve coached before. It holds over 11,000 people in much greater comfort than the arenas where I’ve played and coached. Lots of yellow seats and, while the center is not nearly filled to capacity, a fair number of fans wearing yellow. And here I am at age 44.

Our starters as the season begins are: PG Chris Smith, 6-1 Soph; SG Stacey Walker, 6-2 Sr; SF George Seamon, 6-8 Sr; PF Vefa Kurtbek, 6-6 Soph; C R.J. Reis, 6-10 Soph.

We host the Portland Pilots for our season opener. They’re strongly favored even though we are at home. We hung with them the first 10 minutes but then wilted and fell behind 41-25 at the half, letting them hit 63% of their shots. Our 13 turnovers in the half didn’t help. 21 of our 25 points were by our guards.

We stayed behind by 10-15 points through most of the half and ended up losing 80-61. The Pilots hit 63% of their shots. We had 20 turnovers. But we did hit 8 of 15 of our 3’s. We only have 3 guards on our roster, but the three carried what offense we were able to generate. They hit 13 of 24 from the field including 7 of 8 from beyond the arc. PG Chris Smith scored 19, PG J.B. Parker had 10, and SG Stacey Walker chipped in 9. None of our players had more than 3 rebounds. Reserve PF Larry Smith popped in 21 points for Portland.

Game #2, Brown Bears (1-1) at Colorado Buffaloes (0-1)

Again we have a home game and again we’re the underdog. It takes 2-1/2 minutes for either team to score, but we hit the first bucket and after 5 minutes of play we’re up 10-4. Is that an omen? But at the midpoint of the first half, Brown takes their first lead at 14-13. The Bears hold a small lead through most of the remainder of the half. But in the last two minutes we come back and on the last play of the half, we execute a perfect pick and roll and score just before the buzzer sounds to take a 32-30 lead into the locker room. Again we have too many turnovers (11) but shoot well (52%). SG Stacey Walker leads our scoring with 8 points, but we get good production from our entire starting five.

We pull ahead 40-32 after 4-1/2 minutes of play in the 2nd half. But we can’t maintain our momentum and let Brown come back to take a 42-41 lead. We make another run to lead 50-43 with 8-1/2 minutes remaining. Three minutes later we open our first double digit lead at 57-47. We hang on to come away with my first win at Colorado. The final score: Colorado-66, Brown-58.

We played well, out-rebounding the Bears 35-28 and out-shooting them 47% to 39%, but had 18 turnovers to the Bears’ 13. Ultimately the fact that we got to the line 20 more times than Brown and scored 13 more points at the free throw line was the difference in the game.

SG Stacey Walker finished with 14 points. PG Chris Smith put in 13 points plus had 5 assists, 7 rebounds, a steal and 2 blocks. PF Vela Kurtbek scored 12 and grabbed 8 boards. C Duez Jones scored 15 for Brown.

Chris reacted to GM Games in [itch.io Devlog] First update
Hello everyone, This is our first post on itch.io, so we hope you like the idea we have for a game. Basically we want to create a College Football Manager simulation game where you will be handed the control of a college football team. Your goal is to win as many bowls and conference championships as possible. The game is inspired by the original Football Manager (Soccer) games. You will be able to handle both the depth chart and tactics for your selected team. Each year you should also recruit new high schoolers to play for your team while you try to handle the maximum amount of scholarships you are able to hand out. The game is still on the idea stage but we have already implemented some parts of the game, so please let us know if you think a game like this is a good idea :-) We have at...

Chris reacted to GM Games in [itch.io Devlog] GUI Updates
Hi everybody, This past week have mainly been used for updating parts of the GUI and some refactoring of the code. On the GUI side we have optimized the way recruits are shown on the screen, so it should now be easier to navigate through the all recruits. We have also optimized the way recruits selects which college offer to take. For the emails view we have also done a couple of updates so it is now able to contain images. It sounds like an easy task, but it turned out to take much more time than expected. We have also looked into the GUI for simulating a game, but we are not sure that the changes we have made are actually working, so that might be changed soon again. Of new features we have started on the transfer portal but it is still very much in the upstart phase. We are also gonna...

Ok, so I have played the demo of the 2018 version and I like it 90%, only one phenomenal missing piece.....  So now that College Football 2019 is out, I have one simple question.....

Did you guys put in an option to modify the "playoffs"???  I'm sorry, but it is a definite gamebreaker for me if nothing further than the 4 team playoff is offered along with the bowls....

Come on guys, it wouldn't be hard to offer at the minimum at "16 team playoff", BUT with optional settings. For example, whether conference champs auto get in, or any other shenanigans!  I sure hope there is a fully customizable post-season.  So what is the deal?

Chris reacted to mhoptman in How I started.. Playing Sports Sims
    Hi all,
My interest is really limited to baseball.

I started playing computer games using the SBS 1990 season. But before that I played a LOT of table top games going back to the mid-70's: Extra Innings, SIBB, Sherco, Strat-o-Matic, and All Star Baseball. Right now, I play Inside Pitch, Digitial Diamond BB, OOTP 19, and Dobrov Baseball. But I am always looking for new and different games.

As an untalented athlete, these games give me the chance to enjoy the history and strategy of baseball. My main interest is in simulation.

    Thanks for hearing me out.
    Best wishes,
    Mhoptman
