I disagree, it's a different system here an does not need to perfectly replicate NHL rules. Here, when a guy is given a 1-way deal he is being guaranteed his full salary and top-team play time. However, if he is doing horribly, or to expensive for a team he can be placed on waivers for others so that he may continue with others with his negotiated deal. Or else if your waiver slots are full, you can buy him out whenever. Also, if 1-way deal just had to wait out waivers for a couple days and then be able to get sent down, it would also enable hoarding of better players which has been an issue in the past.
Waivers are there to give you an out to 3 horrible contracts at a time. Whether you signed those deals yourself, or else a previous manager, it opens up salary so that you aren't locked and forced to control a bad team for a number of seasons.

A nice addition to the search feature would be to hide players with a one-way contract on higher leagues. I find myself having to go thru every player's transfer tab to find out if I can claim him or trade for him. That's annoying. Another way to help with this would be to show the one-way option in the player preview pane.

    Hey guys,
I feel like this used to be the case before the release, but correct me if I'm wrong.
On the Players Stats Page (on League tab), is it possible to have our own team's players stand out somehow? Like bold their names/stats as opposed to everyone else's names/stats being normal...or something of that sort. Obviously, we can just look for our players, but it'd be cool if it stood out more

Right now in the league menu, we can see the top 20 players in the league for different stats, but we cant search different player positions.. so for example, you can only see the top 3 defensemen on the main league menu. I would also extend the list to show top 50 from top 20 as the leagues have just about doubled in size. But this is more just stat fluff for us stat junkies so it is by no means a top of the list issue, just an idea.

Time for another update. I have during the last week reworked the contracts of players. The main reason for this was because I felt there wasn't enough salary difference between a star player and a depth player. So in the upcoming release star players will have significantly higher salaries, just like in the NHL today. But also, depth players will ask for much less than what is currently the case.
But just as what always been the case the salary will not only be influenced by overall but also player reputation, psychological profile and the competitive situation currently on the team (and more).
Here's a screenshot that shows the a more diverse salary situation on a team:

I commented on the jerseys thread, but I say it here too. The jersey builder is amazing— just freaking amazing. You didn't take it up a level, but like 100 levels at once.
The game interface looks very clean, sleep and most of all modern. Very nice works guys.

Yes, you're right. We're getting tired of excuses. And the release was announced too early. But I really thought it would be ready by October. I was wrong.
So what's happening? Currently I put several hours into the new release every day and things are progressing. The new league structures and playoffs are developed and are being tested out. The design is almost finished for desktops and larger screens. Here's a screenshot:
I will from now on provide a screenshot or an update at least once a week up to time of the release. I also recorded a sneak peak on how to customise team jerseys. I posted this in the jersey discussion found here:
The release is still planned for December but probably not the first week. And as Glawing pointed out the current server will be active until the release is made with the one exception that it will be physically moved last weekend of November.
So no more excuses from now on =)

I know many are wondering how everything is going and when it’s going to be released.
First, so sorry for the lack of updates lately and thanks for being patient.
We’re working real hard with the upcoming release but personally I haven’t been able to put in as many hours as I wanted the last month, which also reminds me why we’re doing these changes in the first place.
That means that we’re behind schedule and will not be able to launch the release in October as first mentioned. And to not make any promises we can’t fulfill we will now announce that the big release will instead be made in December.
The current game worlds will be open and free to play until mid November. Before then all current players will be given the option to keep their current team name and colors in the new release. A message will be sent both in game and via email once ready.
Thanks again for your patience and I understand if this wasn’t the news you were hoping for. But the release is coming and we’re working as hard as we possible can.

The information about the launch date should be out soon (within a week or so). Anders and Tobias still have few things to do before they can release further information.
(And before you start asking me questions I cannot answer - no I don't know anything more about this either, just wanted to get this out here as some sort of answer.)

There is a big difference between "pay-to-win" and a monthly subscription.  The subscription is similar to magazines or even your mobile phone plan.  Just because GPH exists, doesn't mean you have the 'free' right to play it.  Nothing good in life is truly free.  I've been offering up monthly financial support since the initial Kickstarter because 1) I spend a considerable amount of my free time playing this and 2) I see it as a fairly unique and well above average game.  If I watched movies in my spare time instead, I wouldn't expect them to be free at the theater nor expect Nintendo to give away games just so they can increase their number of players.  TV, music, internet; NONE of those are free, why should GPH be?
Bottom line, you can buy one less coffee/donut/doner/metro ride PER month and pay for this instead.

With the risk of being shot.....
We enjoy playing this game.Should we have to pay to play in the future or not, it's a choice we can make and stand for on our own. It costs money to build, maintain and run this game.
We are all aware of that,
    I hope.
Anders and Tobias asked for a sum of money from new and existing players to keep running the game in good fashion and to pay for their time. After that, they have given existing players a very discounted price. Based on that gesture, I think we have nothing more to talk about. Either one chooses to pay the fee or not. (Or play in the free league)The choice is simple,  Bantering back and forth in the forum is irrelevant. As long as i enjoy playing the game and can choose to pay the fee or play the free option.
    That´s all that´s needed.
There is rarely anything free in this world anymore , i do understand that some have less money to spend then others(been there). That´s the way it is , we'll live with that.

Did no one read this?? While most of you are so concerned with how we would have to pay a measly 1.99 a month (which he improved from 2.99 to try and keep you all happy which also includes now two teams, free league etc..) all most of you can think about is how this game should be free. None of you address, like he even said as shown above, how he has been neglecting the most important things in life. We all almost lost this game all together and to make it worthwhile to fit into his life he asks for very little all the while the benefits of this money would help improving the game you all claim to love so much. We live in a world where people will do almost anything to save a couple of dollars and we know nothing of each others lives and who can afford what and on that note, since when do we assume everything we read anywhere on the internet? He already tried multiple times to appease everyone all the while taking all of your words into account and as facts and I've been asking myself, why should he? Clearly most of you don't care about the sacrifices he's made to try and meet everyone's demands and when he asks for something in return which is nothing in comparison to the demands that have been made from this community, it's too much. Anders doesn't know anything about your lives and is just supposed to take your word for it if you can't afford it yet no one considers the one thing that is even more important in this world than money, and that is time. Time with his family, time for himself, time for his job to pay his bills and so on. You all take for granted the amount of time he has put into this game to make it what it is. The worst part is when a fellow GM by the username of littleb (who I respect greatly) makes a great suggestion of sponsorship, it is overlooked by most. Now I can tell you right now I was willing to be one of those sponsors, but after this forum post all of that has changed completely because of one issue. That is the level of selfishness and entitlement as shown by many GM's here who clearly feel this game should remain as is to suit their needs (or better yet, their wants). My back and forth with Haradrim earlier in this forum post started because he came off to me as entitled because he wasn't apart of the focus group and I still take offense to it especially now that Anders and Tobias have clarified that the focus group doesn't really matter but for me I didn't like that I was paying money that would benefit someone who has this mentality while at the same time it made my contributions feel worthless and unappreciated. Now we are seeing it on a larger scale and no longer directed towards me personally but towards the very person who created this game. It is truly sad how much of a discussion this has been when I would be willing to bet at least half of the GM's demanding that it be free will also pay up when the time comes. Now for all those that are just going to respond "Well everyone has their own opinion" you should really consider how not a single one of these opinions will matter if this game no longer exists. I for one along with many others have been trying to do our part to not let that happen and sorry to break it you all but the financial contributions are a big part of that. Try reading what the creator wrote in it's entirety and then make your decision of whether your willing to make a small sacrifice for something you claim to love, for someone who has sacrificed so much more for all of us instead of zoning in on the only "negative".
So with all of that being said you should all be asking yourselves one question, "Is this game I love so much and the time and effort Anders and Tobias have put into it worth 2 dollars a month?" If your answer is no, then why are you still here?

Thanks Bob! Well, some tips that I can give you is look at all your players weakness and strengths are, then determine what offensive tactic they are good at. So example, if you have fast players on your team, go with dump and chase, etc. Also another thing that helped me, i ended up with the #1 powerplay by the end of the season. In the beginning of the season i was around #10 on the powerplay. What made me #1 on the powerplay was i chose Umbrella powerplay, put 4 fowards with great shots on the powerplay and 1 defender with good shot and good defence just incase for the SHG. This rose my Powerplay by a huge portion.
Another tip would be always check if your players are Tired, if they are, go to training and put the tired players on easy (look for endurance).
i look for players that can fit the play style. i use dump and chase, so i look for players with good skating so they can get to the puck after they have dumped it in their zone and we gain possession and we score.
They key to looking for good role players on the transfer page in my opinion would depend what line you need the player on. So lets say your first line is having trouble scoring. Look for a playmaker with good passing. after that look for snipers that have a tendency to score alot by checking their stats from last season and so forth or by looking at their shooting rating. This will make the playmaker pass to the shooter in order to score. So basically look for players that fit your lines depending on what line it is: Scoring, Checking, Energy.
For a scoring line, you should usually look for 1 playmaker and 2 snipers or whatever works for you. A TwoWay line, find 2 twoway forwards, and 1 playmaker or sniper. Checking line you should look for 2 powerfowards and a twoway foward just so you can get some depth in scoring on that 3rd line with that twoway. And last, for the energy line, look for grinders an 1 twoway.
This really helped me on my success of winning and I usually look at other good teams roster. I look at their size and player role.
I forgot to mention, Always look at the players performance on the players stats to determine if you should move them of the line or to just release them and get another player who can fit that line.
Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions or if i didnt answer something you wanted me to answer, please let me know as ill try to help you out on having success with your team.
PS: What team are you and what gameworld and league?

    Hi guys!
I'm the manager of the TIMAGAMI TOMAHAWKS.
I took over the team during season 8 in LIHL and kinda forgot about it for most of the season. I just checked back on it a few days ago and realized this seemed like a pretty fun game. So I guess I'll keep on playing!
I've just been promoted to IHL, so we'll see if I can secure the spot on that level.
I've managed teams in Websim Hockey for almost 10 years but GPHM seems much more complex. I live in Montreal, Canada.
    See you around!
