  1. GHL/SHL Players (2-Way Contract)

    1. Ramiro Ohara (Winger | 89 OVR | 27 years old) - Elite offensive talent with 96 passing, 97 puckhandling, 95 shooting, 93 skating.

    GHL Players (1-Way Contract)

    1. Camron Albert (W | 88 OVR | 22 years old) - Two-way forward with 95 skating, 94 shooting, and 85 defense.

    2. Julian Lisi (W | 93 OVR | 37 years old) - One of the best-rated forwards in the game with 99 passing, 99 shooting, 98 skating

    3. Lasse Bomb (LD | 87 OVR | 25 years old) - Two-way defenseman with 91 skating, 91 shooting, and 88 defense.

Looking to acquire draft picks/prospects and willing to package assets together since I have a lot of depth. Feel free to message me to talk about players you're interested in acquiring.

  2. Updated the roster for Season 14! I just realized I had a Japanese-American player (Ramiro Ohara) on my own team, and he immediately makes the top-line much stronger and GHL-competitive. Some other significant changes to the forwards - what was an incredibly veteran-heavy roster the first time around has thinned out with five teenagers making the team this time around...the defensemen and goalies haven't changed at all, and this team would still rely heavily on Yu, one of the best goalies in Biscuit.

  3. I truly don't understand how the team manages to perform so poorly. The only trick I haven't tried is sacrificing the assistant to the hockey gods, but sadly that option isn't in the game yet.

Yeah it's pretty surprising to me too...have you tried playing Chovanec and Ryzhanov on different lines or shuffling the lines a bit? Personally I found that some players just seem to click for some unknown reason, and some just don't play well together. One thing that stands out for me when I look at your team is that all of the defensemen have poor puckhandling, so maybe they have trouble carrying the puck out of the zone despite their strong passing abilities?

  4. I'm looking to move my backup goalie Zain Tessier-Leforest (26 years old, 89 overall). He's a former 7th-overall pick, 2-time GHL champion, and still has a bit of upside considering his age and the fact that he hasn't played a whole lot over the last few seasons. I'm looking for a GHL 3rd rounder in return (he's on a 1-way contract).

  5. One-Way Contracts (GHL)

    1. Richard Fahy (LD) - 94 OVR. One of the highest-rated defensemen in Biscuit at age 37, including 99 defense, 98 shot, and 98 physicality. 3-time leader in most points by a defensemen, still showing some progress development-wise and unlikely to fall off a cliff since he has the ambitious trait.

    2. Ludovik Calder (LW/RW) - 89 OVR. In his prime at 29 years old and has 99 skating, 97 shooting, 94 passing/puck-handling.

    3. Ramiro Ohara (LW) - 88 OVR. 95 passing/shooting, 97 puck-handling who's just entering his prime at 26 years old.

Mostly looking for GHL 2nd/3rd rounders for these players but will consider other offers.

    Two-Way Contracts (SHL/GHL)

    1. Ole Nissen (LW) - 88 OVR. Bona fide SHL first line winger still in his prime at 31 years old with 98 skating, 94 shot, and 92 passing. Looking for SHL 2nd or 1st

All four of these guys are 2-time GHL champions. I also have a bunch of prospects (both signed and unsigned) so feel free to take a look and let me know if you'd be interested (only Johnstone and Boissonneau are untouchable). I'm primarily looking to acquire more centre/goalie prospects.

  6. Looking to move the following players:

    2-Way Contracts (SHL/GHL)

Alexandr Chelomeyev (G, age 24, 87 rating) - Decent SHL starter who still has room to grow. Sparkling .931 save percentage and a 2.03GAA in the AAHL.

Filips Abols (W, age 20, 73 rating) - Pretty good shot (86), solid leadership (Motivator/Stable)

    1-Way Contracts (GHL)

    Zain Tessier-Leforest (G, age 25, 88 rating) - Respectable backup, has a .937 save percentage with a 2.34 GAA

Ole Nissen (W, age 31, 88 rating) - Veteran of 700 GHL games who once scored 52 points in the GHL, elite speed (98 skating)

Not really looking for much in return - low round picks (SHL 2nds-3rds) would probably be enough for most of these guys.

  7. Well one thing I've noticed with my team (high number of nervous/anxious players) is that we've been pretty inconsistent. At one point this year I think we were alternating 5-0 wins with 5-1 losses. Not sure if there are other confounding factors but we also tend to go on extended hot/cold streaks for long stretches of the season - it just so happened that the playoffs fit into one of our extended hot streaks for the last two seasons.

  8. Updated the team roster below! I used the rule of thumb for those with ambiguous last names like Lang that I assumed they were of Asian descent if they were of American/Canadian nationality - which doesn't completely resolve the discrepancy but helps alleviate some of the more obvious problems. Also realized I somehow missed Bob Honda, who would undoubtedly be the most decorated player on this team as not only a six-time GHL champion but also leading the GHL in scoring in Season 8.

Some other observations when I took a deeper dive into the players' backgrounds:

    • There were 18 Americans and 12 Canadians out of all the players I found of Asian background (not all of them made the final roster since I only took the highest rated).
    • 17 Chinese-Americans/Canadians which was by far the highest number, although again some surnames were difficult to assign to a single nationality
    • Of these 17, there seemed to be a disproportionately high number from southern Cantonese-speaking parts of China with surnames such as Chan, Ly, Chow, etc.
    • 6 Vietnamese-Americans/Canadians, which again was higher than I expected
    • Only 7 total of Japanese or Korean descent, which was lower than I anticipated. Although this may be due to the ambiguity of some surnames, I was still surprised not to see many given their relative prevalence in real life
    • Not a lot of common surnames - for example, it was surprising not to find a Li, Kim, or Chen to name just a few while we had much rarer surnames appear. However, I have seen more common surnames such as Xu and Zhang in other game worlds (UAT Mitts, Dangles)

Also put together a quick mock lineup based on rating/handedness:

    Forwards

    Honda - Yao - S. Do

    Sin - Bui - Wan

    Pon - C. Do - Jung

    Ly - Yi - Chan

    Loy

    Defensemen

    Vu - Lao

    Chow - Osano

    Lang - Noda

    Noto

    Goalies

    Yu

    Chin

    Le

    Not a typical-sounding lineup at all! :)

  9. Updated Trade Block:

Bohumir Kovar (C, 87 rating, age 33) - Veteran centreman who's easily in a SHL team's top 6 or can provide depth down the middle for a GHL team. Tearing up the AAHL with 30 points in 16 games this year and posted 48 points in 60 games in the SHL last year. Playmaker (91 passing/88 puck handling) who also has a 99 rating in physicality. http://gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=4437

Jefferson Beals (W, 79 rating, age 22) - Young speedster (95 skating) who can provide depth to a SHL team. Scoring over 2 PPG in AAHL2. http://gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=46849

Looking for very little in return, ideally low round picks, i.e., SHL 3rd.

  10. Hmm that's a good point. While it's true that Lang and Jung are common surnames in many parts of the world, for my purposes I just put them down as being of Asian heritage since that's one possibility, which I'm most familiar with from my personal experience.

  11. Motivated by the number of players of Asian descent to have recently been drafted in the early rounds of the NHL Draft, such as Nick Suzuki, Kailer Yamomoto, Cliff Pu, Jason Robertson, Tyler Inamoto, and Jonathan Ang, I compiled a list of players of Asian descent in GW Biscuit (total of 33 players, including some in the junior leagues) and created a team from the top-rated players at each position.

    Team_Asia_13.png

Although definitely lacking in depth, the team actually has some bright spots. Specifically, goaltending would unquestionably be a strength, as Justin Yu is one of the best goalies in Biscuit and still getting better. Jermey Sin was actually the Russian League scoring leader last season, and would spearhead this team's attack along with centres Max Lang and Preston Yao. Ruari Vu and Graham Lao form a competent top defensive pairing for the team, although the quality of defensemen drop down drastically afterwards.

Many of the players for this team (Sarah Do, Anthony Bui, Ryan Lai, etc.) are fast approaching retirement and have declined significantly in the past season or two. As a result, part of the reason behind me posting this now was to acknowledge them for their solid careers. On the other hand of the spectrum, there are a number of young players such as 15-year-old Louis-Phillip Low of the Ingolf Hawks (CAJHL) who I'd expect to continue to rise up the ranks and help fill in the gaps left by these retiring players.

Note that in cases where there was some ambiguity as to the name, such as the surname Lang, I assumed that these players are of Asian descent. In addition, just going off of last names of possibly Asian descent misses players who have Anglicized last names such as Jason Robertson, of Filipino descent, who was drafted by the Dallas Stars 39th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft. Finally, I have a hunch that I missed a number of players of Japanese descent simply because their surnames may not be as easy to spot when scrolling through hundreds of names so feel free to let me know if I've missed anyone!

  12. New Sheriff in town!?!? Well done Xavier with the upset 2-0 sweep of Protons! Don't think anyone would have predicted that two weeks ago!

Also, the dude's got THREE 1st round picks coming his way to add to an already stacked lineup. We've helped create a monster.

Thanks Steve! Honestly I think it was pretty fluky - my goalie really stood on his head in the playoffs and I doubt I'll have similar results next season which is why I loaded up on picks.

  13. Do you have any idea if this happened recently or if it has been like this the entire season? Any clues on when this happened would be much appreciated. Thanks

It's been like this the entire season. I think it happened due to the shift in accounts/team name (Portland Oilers -> Portland Marauders) at the beginning of the current season.

  14. Game World: Biscuit

    League: GHL

Team: Portland Marauders (formerly Portland Oilers)

On the 'Team' page under Player Stats, the statistics include AAHL players and their AAHL statistics, in red as seen below. As a result, my "Team Leaders" on the "Home" tab are all AAHL players and calculated using AAHL statistics. Call-ups, such as Anton Franc, are displayed on the list twice - once by their AAHL statistics and once by their GHL statistics.

Also, under Team Stats, the Manager Name for this season is "Computer*" as opposed to the actual manager name (screenshot below)

  15. I'm having the same problem too on Mitts. I can access some of my assigned players fine, but not others.

Here are some of the ones I can't access:

    Nikola Rak

    Sergey Kapriyanov

    Ulrick Bellware

    Rasmus Brander

    Leandro Copeau

    Kaspar Dalén

    Andrew Gullion

    Maxime Hürlimann

I think it might just be all of the ones that were on my affiliate from the prior season are unable to be accessed.

I'm on Chrome and the webpage has loaded completely, i.e., no #'s in the URL. I've tried loading them from my team page, transfers page, and affiliate team page but none have worked.

  16. Found a new potential bug: The players that were assigned to the AAHL last season and stayed there through the start of the new season aren't displaying any AAHL stats. I think they're still playing, as some of them have 'tired' fitness, but their player card displays only their GHL stats.

    Examples:

    http://uat.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=13384

    http://uat.gameplanhockey.com/goalie?gpid=1194

    http://uat.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=9601

    http://uat.gameplanhockey.com/player?gpid=11204

Also, new players that I signed at the beginning of the season and assigned to AAHL are only displaying all '0's on their AAHL statistics. However, they have a "AAHL" line on their statistics unlike in the previous case.

    Examples:

  17. It may just be that they scored twice on a major penalty.  Was it a 5 minute major?

Ahh yes I just took a closer look - they scored twice on a 5 minute major. Shouldn't that be recorded as 2/3 then? I thought whenever the other team scores, a "new" PP is recorded, i.e., if they score once, then it's 1/2; if they score twice, then it's 2/3, etc.
