  1. @jusatin Yes I know that GHL picks are the best, I'm not blind to that, of course they need to be competitive with fantastic prospects. This happened to tick me off that these players went way higher when they should have based on the rankings, which is why I think an ability masking feature (such as prospect scouting) would be so helpful. That draft, I'm not saying I acquired a bad player 33rd overall, I shortlisted 4 prospects in the SHL 1st round, but dropped to my 3rd priority as my top 2 picks that were mentioned earlier were taken. I traded that prospect away, because the player development is almost fixed, and I felt I wasn't getting an impact player now or in 3-5 seasons. Sorry if my points were a bit unclear, let me sum it up: The way the competition in Game Plan Hockey Manager is set up, it doesn't allow for a draft that allows bad teams to draft future impact players. In the NHL, the worst teams draft first so they can stockpile for their future, while the good teams draft long term project prospects that have a lower ceiling than the lottery picks. Because of this draft system, the already stacked teams in the GHL will always get the top prospects (and the promoted SHL teams), and their top prospects don't even play. A good real life example of this is the Phil Kessel Boston to Toronto trade, when cup contenders Boston (think GHL team) got the 2nd pick and drafted Tyler Seguin. He didn't fit at all in Boston playing 3rd line minutes, so he went to struggling Dallas and realized his potential. That is why I'm frustrated. Of course, this won't realistically be able to be implemented into the game, so I figured, to give other teams in the lower leagues a chance on developing and increasing competition and thus, fun; make the GHL teams scout at their own level, SHL at the own level, etc. etc., because GHL teams take good prospects from the SHL draft positions, SHL teams take prospects from the BHL draft positions, etc. etc. As for your comments about my points, yes, everybody loves late round gems, I totally agree, but quite simply put; to grow this game to have more players, you need to fill up the teams with committed managers, and the current draft system is frustrating the 64 managers not in the top league, with LIHL managers more or less hopeless. For 4 & 5, think of this from an NHL draft perspective. If you have the 13th overall pick in the NHL draft, why would you take someone projected to go 50-60th? It makes no sense. The higher ranked prospects are expected to have higher ceilings than players taken in the 2nd-7th rounds. For my 6th point I meant that players who scoured the draft class more than others would more likely come out successful, similar to what you said in your post. For my 7th point, I really think that cheaters would stop trying to hoard picks. What is the point of trying to hoard picks if your not going to scout (if this feature is implemented), when free agency is always filled with good players that are much easier to acquire. It's just human nature, people like things easy. Sure, a fraction of people will be persistent and continue cheating. For this point I mean that you shouldn't be trying to stop cheaters directly. Implementing new exciting features that make players unable to cheat (such as prospect scouting, or maybe a one tier league [only GHL]) that gets rid of ways that players cheat. Cheaters are hampering this game's development and potential. Anders even said he can't implement new features because the time is spent dealing with individual issues in another post. This is why I'm suggesting something like this. I don't think I really elaborated on this idea though. This is what I mean by scouting: Say that center John Smith is the top rated prospect in the final rankings. Boston Bruins finishes 1st in the SHL and has the 1st overall pick. They scout Smith for 20 days, his stats are: Overall: 81 Skating: 74 Passing: 84 Puck Handling: 81 Shooting: 78 Defence: 67 Physical: 88 Spirit: 90 Endurance: ? Faceoffs: 75 and his development chart is revealed. The Colorado Avalanche wins the GHL cup and drafts last in the GHL first round. They see no value in trying to draft Smith but still scout him for 5 days. Colorado sees these stats: Overall: 81 Skating: ? Passing: 84 Puck Handling: ? Shooting: 78 Defence: ? Physical: ? Spirit: 90 Endurance: ? Faceoffs: 75 and see his development chart. That is what I mean by prospect scouting. If anybody has any questions just message me.
  2. The draft aspect of this game is very agitating, for me at least. I had the 33rd overall pick in the draft acquired from winning the BHL title and the prospects I wanted, went wayyy too high in the draft. Prospect #1 has phenomenal growth, and finished ranked 35th, a good range for a possible pick. This player goes 13th, skipping 22 players in rank. Prospect #2 has a fantastic overall, and would make for a perfect SHL backup goalie, though the growth was low. He is ranked 49th, so I'm like, for sure I'm getting this guy if I don't get prospect #1. He goes 14th, skipping 35 prospects in rank. So what I'm suggesting is: Hide all prospect overalls, ratings, and growth; but leave their stats, meaning goals assists, etc. As well as their prospect rankings, obviously. This will do many things for GPHM: 1. Reduce the amount of late round gems to a reasonable level, such as 3-5 per draft. 2. It will help teams develop into solid teams that can actually go into the GHL and not get relegated first season, because from what it seems like, in Game World Fishbowl at least, most of the managers have only been in the GHL since they started playing, and none have really remained that started in one of the lower leagues. Further, I'll give credit that they all have very strong cores, but they are also essentially reducing the entire world to a 8 team show. These teams are so good and have been around for 3+ seasons (I've played 3 seasons in Fishbowl) that I have memorized all those names. So essentially, hiding prospect ratings could allow for better competition. When I was in the BHL, I'll be honest, I looked for decent prospects to poach that were actually promising, I only found one, and it was on a team that was relegated from the SHL to the IHL in 2 seasons. 3. It will reduce non GHL manager's frustration (like mine) that I can't even build a team through the draft because the high growth and high overall players are gone. 4. It will force teams to scout and draft at their own level. Ex. SHL teams will focus on the rounds they are drafting, where they have the highest chance of landing their pick. Not where GHL or BHL teams are drafting. 5. It will provide realism. In real life, no GM can put ratings on a player, they roughly judge how good THEY think the player would be. Ex. Columbus clearly thought Pierre-Luc Dubois was better than Jesse Puljujarvi, but many other teams felt the Finnish right winger was the 3rd best prospect (See 2016 NHL Draft). 6. It would introduce a whole new feature and selling point into the game. The draft class would no longer be obvious to look at and see who's good. Using the draft class, teams would be able to create their own draft classes from research and scouting. Good scouts would benefit more than poor scouts, just by looking at stats. 7. It may prevent cheating. From my experience, 90 percent of human to computer trades involve a computer prospect or picks. If prospects have all their juicy information hidden (growth and attributes), teams will be more reluctant to acquire computer picks as they may not scout the right players for the pick to work. Human teams will say: "Okay, I'm going to scout players between the ranks of x and y, if I find a prospect that's good that I can't get, I will attempt to acquire a pick." Or, "I don't see any prospects of value, I'm going to try to deal away my picks," instead of, "Oh, prospect 1 is 75 rated and is heroic, and prospect 2 is 68 rated but grew 4 rating this season, I need computer picks!" or "I've got the 28th overall pick, wow, the 50th overall prospect grew from 63 to 69 this season, steal!" So overall, sorry if I rambled, but this topic really annoys me, and I wanted to get my opinion out. Keep in mind that I'm not the most experienced manager and I've never managed a team at GHL level. What do you guys think? -Peter T.
  3. Why is it that virtually every player in the GHL, SHL, BHL. IHL. and LIHL is either happy (green) or concerned (blue), and every player in every other league (Russia, Sweden, Junior, etc.) is miserable (red). It makes no sense to me. Especially in the RUHL, the players are making a much larger sum they would in GHL, and I've noticed that some players are not interested at all in joining any team except for teams in Europe. He may have a poor rating for a depth player, but will still take 4x the amount of money in Europe and still be miserable. I'm asking this because it doesn't make sense. Some Russian players would be happy playing in Russia their whole careers but will not move to North America or even Sweden, while you have Lee Stempniak playing for 10 teams (and counting) and seems happy just to be playing in the NHL for decent money. So Basically, GHL-LIHL: Generally ranges from happy to concerned RUHL-GBHL: Miserable RUJHL-FRJHL: Miserable Why do players feel this way?
  4. I'd like to see these two player stats in the game: Shooting Percentage (S%):To help people see who can score with limited ice time and who needs big minutes. Ex. Steven Stamkos has the best S% (17.3%) of active players who have played at least 100 games. While Nathan MacKinnon has the 273rd best S% at 8.5%.To see if a player is over preforming with an inflated shooting %.Can help you find true snipers.Help you to make trades. Game-Winning Goals (GWG):Helps you figure out who is clutch, and can log big minutes, and who can't. Ex. Logan Couture and Cam Atkinson have more GWG the past 5 seasons than captains Claude Giroux and Henrik Zetterberg. We'll all see if the 'heroic' and 'stable' traits really make a difference. Can also help you make trades.I think they'd be a nice addition to a game based on numbers. Thoughts?
  5. I like the minimum games idea, it should enforce better ethics from the managers, and I'm interested to see how the general happiness feature looks. Keep up the good work! Also just wondering, would it be possible for me to manage a team in Mitts3, or is it reserved for specific people? I'm thinking of leaving biscuit and trying a faster world.
  6. I think it would be useful to add a feature where on the league page there is a green dot or something that indicates if the manager is currently playing the game. You could put this symbol beside online players, and a red symbol or no symbol beside offline players. It could help for a few reasons: 1. You could see who is inactive and know not to waste your time sending trade offers. 2. You could send trade requests and/or messages to online players to help with getting a quick response, or an indication of when the opposing manager will make a decision. 3. Help determine people's commitment to the game and managers that would want to make fair deals. I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but in a game that is built around interaction with other people, knowing if they're on or not would help the general convenience of the game. What do you guys think? -Peter T.
  7. Inform me if this has already been answered, but: What does a player's spirit have to do with gameplay? I'm wondering what the difference is between a 79 rated player with 56 spirit and a 76 rated player with 86 spirit. I'd assume players with high spirit would help team spirit, but I'd appreciate if someone corrected me otherwise. Thanks, Peter T.
  8. Is it possible to name a goalie captain? One of my star players is a goalie and he has the "True Leader" trait, and I was wondering if I could give him the "C" I'm asking this because i see other teams in Fishbowl that have goalies as alternate captains and even captains. If not, then I'm confused as to why a goalie even needs a leadership trait, because it doesn't seem like a commander, or true leader goalie would be any different than a modest, or anonymous goalie. Thanks.
  9. I think it would be wise to implement a more convenient feature than the messenger feature because when I'm rejecting trade offers the 3 options sometimes aren't the reason why I am rejecting, so it becomes frustrating when I have to send a player a message. For example: A player offers you a 1st liner (F) which is on your transfer needs. However, you specifically want a right handed shooter but the offered player is left handed. You should be able to enter in a quick message back without having to go to the manager page to do it. The character limit would be 100 or so, and you can say, "Sorry -insert manager name-, but I would like a right handed shooter, and then its a done deal." I think this would be better to get trades to go through because reject reasons can be more specific and players can send proper counter offers. What are your opinions?
  10. I like the idea, sort of like a PTO except you have rights to the player until season x because he is your prospect. I don't know exactly what you'd call a feature like that, but I personally think idea is good. +1
  11. It would be cool if there was a way for you to talk to your players and/or for your players to talk to you. For example, you have a bad team close to relegation and your star player, though he has 1st line, power play, and maybe penalty kill minutes is simply frustrated because even though these are his stats: GP 46 G 21 A 34 P 55 PER 76 +/- 4 His team can't win games and is in a relegation playoff place on a 4 game loss streak. He might request to you (via the message system) to be traded, or if he is loyal, ask you politely to improve the team and say he is not very happy, or something along these lines. But here is the good part: You can respond to your players with maybe 3 or 4 statements, and they could improve your player's confidence level, increase loyalty, make them withdraw their trade request, make them want a trade, decrease player confidence, loyalty, etc. For example: John Doe, a star player and first liner on your team says, "Boss, I've come to you today to discuss the team's current form." "This loss streak is very disheartening and I really want to win." Your player is sad with the team's form. "I would love to be part of this organization for years to come and as a leader on the playing squad, I think we need a reshuffle." This implies that he is frustrated with his teammates and may want some better line mates or teammates. And you can respond saying: a. I'm sorry you feel like that, but I've actually been looking at a few players to acquire to improve the squad! b. As one of my star players, I know you must be frustrated, but I regret to inform you that I've placed you on the trade block. c. I appreciate the opinion John, but I'm happy with the squad right now and I know you can really up your game and be the star I know you are. And depending on John Doe's personality traits, he would be affected. Let me know what you guys think, and try to expand on my thought, because it seems a bit broad right now.
  12. Maybe make something similar to the Olympics with this game and have an international tournament every few seasons. The tournament would have 12 teams divided into 3 groups of 4, such as this. Group A Canada Czech Republic Germany Austria Group B Sweden Finland Russia USA Group C Slovakia Switzerland Norway Italy I know the groups aren't balanced but I'm just trying to get my point across. There could be an automatic qualifier to the tournament so the best players are showcased since there are so many small hockey nations in GPHM (Italy, Norway, Austria, France, UK, Denmark, Slovenia, etc.) By this I mean the countries are ranked in terms of combined player overall and the top overall nations get to participate. Whereas the best nations automatically get a spot in the tournament (Canada, Sweden, Russia, USA, Finland, etc). Sort of like coefficients in soccer/association football. This would offer managers a break during a certain point in the season to regroup and make trades/signings (depending on league position), and it would be interesting to see how your players play against the best. Maybe players would be able to manage international teams? What do you guys think?
  13. +1 for both ideas. I'm a sentimentalist as well, and I'd like to see transfer history and a hall of fame in the game, especially transfer history though. But the hall of fame would be so empty because players retire at a pretty old age in this game (like 38-40). Most players retire around 34 I think. But yeah, I support this idea!
  14. Shoot. I guess I'm screwed then as long as no one is interested in my players (I doubt they won't). One more question, I'd be grateful if you answered again Wizard. If I release all my pending UFA's (all have 1 year left, set to expire in a few days) that I don't want, will half of their cap hit stay on my books next season? It's currently Day 70. Once again, thanks!
  15. I have a massive problem here. My team is being promoted to the BHL next season (currently day 69 [playoffs], so I can't trade away anyone). I have $83,000 in cap space. The players not crossed out are the ones I want to keep, and their demands: My top priorities are: Cyril Mikovíny (he was my league's Erik Karlsson)Alexej Hubálek (the best 3rd line center in the league)Malcom Tomlinson (since Hribar doesn't want to sign, this guy has the next best stats)Basically, my questions are: Do I get my BHL cap space before Day 1 of next season? If the answer is no, Why don't I get my BHL cap space until the next season? because I'm basically losing 75% of the players that won me promotion in the first place. How am I supposed to sign around $1,794,000 worth of players with $1,575,000 of cap space? I'm fuming because half the players in the photo I scouted from Europe and they look like future stars, and I can't sign them because of the salary cap. I had a similar question before about my top defender Mikoviny: http://forums.gmgames.org/topic/7047-entry-level-contract-extension-question/ and now that it's the middle of the playoffs in Fishbowl, I want to know so I can prepare. Thanks in advance for any answers!
  16. If I have a player who is red in the roster transfer page and 'wants to move to a bigger club', if I offer him more money will that happiness go up?
  17. I like the idea but can't you just look at your lineup (line 1-4, d line 1-3) from previous games? Personally I don't usually change around my tactics as my players are familiar with it, but if you do, then I see why you'd want the feature. I'm relatively new to GPHM so I don't really know what other managers like yourself do with the tactics, but I still like the idea for the broader community. As for the player form though, usually players don't go on massive in form and out of form streaks and the average form listed in the roster page is good enough for me personally. I also looked at Patrick Kane's (leading scorer in NHL last season) game log from last season and his longest point streak was 5 games and longest streak without a point was 2, just so you see where I'm getting at in terms of needed any player's performance for more than 5 games. As for players that are in and out of the lineup, I don't think you would need to worry about their performance so much because they are (usually) playing low minutes on the 3rd/4th line or 3rd D-pairing or backup goalie position. Basically, I think this is a good idea, but it will be a feature used by maybe 40% of managers if it makes it in the game. - IneffableLeafs
  18. So I have this top offensive defender on my team and I want him for my team when I get promoted to BHL (he's 80 overall and other than faceoffs, his lowest stat is 75). The player is on the final year of his entry level contract ($12,000 salary), he obviously should be worth more though. if I lose him I'll have to rebuild my defensive corps because he is an essential part. I may be moving both of my second pair defensemen, and it would only leave me with said star, a decent 75 overall defender, and a depth (70 OVR) D signed to a bad contract. My question is: What day of the season specifically of the season can I resign this player? I would assume day 67, "seasonend", but I want to be 100% sure. By the way, the sim speed in Fishbowl is "slow". Thanks in advance.
  19. In my league I have two prospects on my shortlist that I want to trade for. It would be cool if in the action tab you could compare two or more players, specifically their traits, ratings, stats, and development chart. That way I would be able to choose easily between the two said players and make a good trade. I assume a comparison screen would work in other situations such as comparing players on your team to see which ones you should trade. Let me know if this is in the game already because I think this would be very helpful.
  20. Thanks, that answered everything! (I should probably have checked the help files first though)
  21. I don't know if this has been asked before, but I have a question about one-way contracts. Scenario: My team is 1st in the IHL and at the moment has 18 more points than the second placed team. However, out of my 24 players (goalies included, prospects not included): 2 players have a one-way contract, both of which are top 6 forwards.13 players have a one-way contract and a promotion contract clause, including 4 absolutely crucial players that I consider untouchables, and they all have more than one year left on their contract. My Questions: What will happen to my players with the one-way contract if my team gets promoted (highly likely)? One of them has 3 years left, the other is a pending UFA.9 of my players with both a one-way clause and a promotion clause have more than one year left and I actually want to keep virtually all of them for the impending BHL offseason. What will happen to these players? Will they be released? Get a salary increase? decrease? I want to know so I can properly prepare for a crucial offseason. Thanks in advance!
  22. It would be a cool feature. Maybe the lower leagues can have an all star team as well that plays the all stars from lower European leagues such as Swiss league, Russian league 2, Swedish league, etc. I agree, an all star game would add a little something to the season.
  23. @Partner642 — I get what you're saying, so maybe teams could have a limit of 2 or 3 loan contracts in and 2 or 3 loan contracts going out, so there aren't so many European FA's, and the rosters remain slightly balanced, but considering that affiliate teams are coming out, this shouldn't be the case, as there will probably be double the amount of players in every team's system. @TheWizard — Thanks, I really appreciate your compliments and encouragement and for welcoming me into this community! I didn't know before that affiliate teams would be implemented, but adding to my idea is that loans would work out much better because they wouldn't cause a mass exodus of FA's since lower league 4th liners and prospects would just end up in the affiliate leagues. I think affiliate leagues would allow a loan system to make competition both stiffer at the bottom for promotion, and at the top for getting prospects, and the competition for loaning them out for them to be best developed, especially with so little experienced managers. With a limit of loan contracts of about 2 or 3 in, this idea would go along perfectly with affiliate teams, increasing the need for youngsters to develop because everyone will have their farm teams developing, maybe at a slower rate, maybe at a faster rate. It all remains to be seen. Thanks for your opinions guys, it's given me optimism that this idea could actually become a useful feature of GPHM.
  24. Correct me if this is already in the game, but I think it would be cool if GHL and SHL teams would be able to loan their unsigned prospects to the BHL, IHL, and LIHL. For example, a GHL team drafts a prospect overall 73 who is useless for the time being. European teams would still be able to sign them, but they would come in handy for BHL depth options, IHL top 6 FWD/top 4 D/starting goalie, and LIHL star player roles. It would benefit both the top teams and the lower teams because it will help the lower teams get promotion, while the higher level teams can give the prospects valuable experience. I know the European teams also give prospects experience, but both lower league teams and top teams would love this idea because: Benefits Lower teams (BHL and lower) will be able to get good players for little sums of salary.Top teams (SHL and higher) will have their prospects play much more games than European teams play (Europe: 30 games, Competition, 60 games) which would lead to better development of stats as well as monster seasons.Loanee Contract Clauses (Just ideas) Player is paid either entry level salary for the league he is entering, or a higher salary based on a decent player's salary in the respective league. The player will either optionally or immediately return to his old club if his happiness reaches uncomfortable or anxious. If the prospect is in the position to contend, he will not be able to be recalled, and could be locked to the lineup for playoff experience. The player must play a required amount of games, or the team taking the player for loan will suffer a cap penalty or forfeit a draft pick to the team loaning the prospect out. This will ensure that this method of developing prospects is fair as well as a better developing method than letting European teams sign top prospects.Other Useful Information The option to loan would be from the beginning of silly season to the last day of preseason. The player has the option of accepting the loan contract or declining it when offered. Note: All bold and italicized words indicate the developer could change these to his liking. Note: Anything I bolded was to emphasize my reasoning. Let me know what you guys think!
  25. Based on my knowledge, the game already adds random players ages 15-16 that become eligible for the draft. If they somehow remain undrafted and are Stastny good after 240 picks, they become FA's which usually sign for European teams in GPHM for wads of cash. I don't think it would make sense to just add random players, as everyone is 15 once in their life. Also, all these players were passed on from from the draft, which is the manager's fault, not the players (with the exception of Stastny, who opted out of the draft). Yes, NHL teams sign players from Europe that seemingly come out of nowhere, but usually they just had bad junior careers or were late bloomers. For my IHL team, I signed four players from Europe which helped my squad depth. Even if there were affiliate teams, it wouldn't make sense to add random players just to fill out those squads that the European teams would have no chance of signing. In my opinion, the game has a good balance of drafted and undrafted stars.
