    Season 4

Really enjoying the game so far - it really scratches a few itches from other GM games - but plays much more simply. I can really do without the "stadiums", "advertising" and "merchandising" of the other games. My focus and attention have always been with contracts/rosters/line-ups. This game does that pretty well. I've said a few things about contracts/extensions that I would prefer to have fixed - but I like the lay-out, the team names and logos (although there might be too many choices!) So far so good. Looking forward to my first full season. Cheers.

    Signing

I find it odd that a player would be unhappy in the last year of his contract, and he asks for a 1 year deal often at the same money. Basically the only thing that changes is the happiness of the player - yet nothing has changed for him in terms of salary or term.

I guess I have two thoughts here. 1. Why would there be a penalty to release a player if they are no longer playing, it really is my offseason. Right now I run the risk of losing 3-4 good players if I don't take a hit for releasing at least one to create cap space. Could there be an option to release a player during the playoffs with no penalty? 2. Why would an extension count against this years salary cap, the money isn't paid until the start of the new season? Thanks, Jer

Can I add to this? I'm a new GM, so please correct me if I've got this wrong. My team did not qualify for the play-offs - so I will remain in the Iron League for another season. Essentially my team is done for this season. Salary wise, I have no room to sign anyone to an extension unless they are willing to take the same contract. Technically for my next season, I should have cap room equal to all outgoing contracts as these extensions will not take effect until the new season starts. I should be able to give some of my guys raises now - while likely not signing others (to create the salary room). My only way to accomplish this today would be to release a player (and take the punishment) even though my players are no longer playing. Did I explain that well? Jer
