  1. Next up - the Manager options Aside from the old fart jokes, two points here to bring up is 1) The news subscription to my entire organization is so I don't get overwhelmed with every teams injury or call up/send down of players. If you enjoy that level - then feel free to indulge yourself! 2) I'm most interested in pointing out my OCD in controlling the team and leaving only the training to the AI assistant. There are times, especially in the offseason when I will have the AI manage the scouts but from late August to May - I have specific jobs for the scouts and skills and regions I want them to cover. Again we will cover that in more detail later.
  2. I have a slightly different flavor in that my beginning post will deal with the "nuts and bolts" of the franchise and its manager. I have noticed that there is very little attention paid to the front office/scouts/coaching relative to the roster. That's right where we will begin here... First lets look at the Panthers financials - $73M Budget / $53.4M payroll, with $17.7M if free cap space. The difference between the budget and payroll/cap space figures means I'm holding between $1.5/$2.0M in dead cap/penalty space for now. Oh well - that's not crippling to my plan. Second is my injured players - Ed Jovanovski is probably most if not all of the dead cap space on my roster, End of his career player - but loyalty does mean something and I can use his skill set for my style of managing. More on that soon. Messages - Here is the games gold mine in my bonehead opinion. This is where most of the day to day business is done and where my plans go to wither on the vine... I see a scout has reported on the 2014 Entry Draft but I'm not checking on it just yet. There is more important set up work to do first.
  3. As promised here is the beginning of the tale of the 2013-2014 Florida Panthers... James "Bonehead" Moore was hired as GM/Head Coach replacing ??? and paid $1.5M per year for virtually no hockey coaching skills and really horrible scouting or management skills either. If life were only that easy! This is more in depth for a reason, I usually see people asking about favorite players on thier own teams or league leaders, so I'll give the folks a chance to immerse themselves for just a little more work on my end. There is a weekly phone call/meeting with the owner updating him on the team status and trades. as Bonehead has commented This owner actually believes he has a team capable of making the playoffs...SMH! The next post will begin the journey and once again feedback is wanted!
  4. Thanks to Chris for extending the invite to this site... I'm similar to most in that I started in the late 70's with the strat-o-matic baseball and hockey sims. I was an early bandwagoner to OOTP (before they actually started to number the games) but was not on the forums much then. Wargaming is probably my first love and I'm currently playing two PBEM's of War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition. (Very grognard game but you are GM of Allies/Japan so you don't actually do battle in the game, just a computer chair QB...) Anyway Chris asked me to repost my Dynasty -Florida Panthers currently on the FHM forums. I'm happy to and hope you all will read and most importantly COMMENT on the content. This is my first time writing a Dynasty and more than compliments, I want to get better by hearing constructive criticisms. I use a lot of .jpg's to give a visualization of the story and I do take creative license to fill in some.. some... openings? in the FHM game. I will obscure some details of injury times and lengths and even create some mockery and tensions amongst team members just to give some zing to the flavor. Like it? Hate it? TELL ME PLEASE! I crave feedback...
