2020 Summer Games Sim Thread

Greetings! I'll be posting results about the 2020 Summer Games Sim (run jointly at SimNation and GMGames) here in this thread. As of today (July 24th), you are still able to sign up if you want to join in on the multiplayer game. Today's News
All players in the multiplayer game are asked to download v1-6 of the program, which fixes a fairly annoying bug that was occurring with training and allows you to submit training points for anybody during the entire summer games, not just that day. If I have your e-mail, you have been sent that.

All players in the multiplayer game are also asked to download the initial league file for the program. That file, and a tutorial video on how to download, were also sent to your e-mail.

Today's News- July 25th

Greetings! I wanted to let everybody know how the sim schedule will work for this Summer Games sim. As the player, you will set training points for your team- these provide boosts to athletes. (If you want to boost an athlete/team in a multi-day event, you have to boost them separately for each day)

You can choose to use all of your training points at once, all at the beginning, or you can parcel them out throughout the games. Every time you want to submit your training points to me, you will hit "Export" within the game, and then you will e-mail me the two files that get exported along with that.

Obviously, the games have already started, so we will have to play catch-up a bit. My plan is to sim Wednesday July 21st to Tuesday July 27th on Tuesday morning local time (I am in US Eastern Time, which is GMT -4). After that, there will be daily updates for the remaining week and a half of the Summer Games, and I will update the league file each day.

So, again, make sure to submit any training points for July 21-July 27th that you want to have submitted prior to Tuesday, and good luck!

News and Results- July 24th
The games are finally underway! Well, officially, at least. The first medals were also awarded! Russia was the day's big winner, taking medals in Judo, Shooting, and Fencing, while Slovenia was a surprise with 2 gold medals. South Korea didn't get the gold they were desiring in team archery, but they did manage one in weightlifting. Host Japan won only a bronze medal, and is still looking for their first gold medal of the games.

News and Results- July 25th
Russia and USA were golden in the pool today, with the Russians taking gold in both men's swimming events and the US taking gold in both women's swimming events. Israel, meanwhile, nearly swept the medals in 10m Air Rifle, taking Gold and Bronze. The country also got a gold medal in Taekwondo, as did South Korea. Host Japan got another bronze, but is still looking for their first gold medal.

News and Results- July 26th
Russia outdueled the US for another gold medal in the pool, but the Americans managed to medal in all 4 swimming events today. China won their expected first table tennis gold medal of the games, while Turkey got an Archery gold medal. Russia outdueled Japan and China in men's team Gymnastics, with the USA outside the medals. (Hmm.....where have I heard that before?) Great Britain got a gold medal in a very close triathlon race, while Serbia took home a Skateboarding gold medal. Japan is starting to pile up some medals, meanwhile, but still no gold.

News and Results- July 28th
Greetings! Let's see what happened on Wednesday, July 28th.  The US continued to have a good games in the pool, snagging a number of more medals. China, though, got two swimming golds on the day, while Australia was celebrating Sam Gutierrez's win in the 200m Butterfly. The Aussies also won Diving and Equestrian gold medals, and narrowly missed getting a gold in the Cycling Men's Road Race, which was won by Russia.  South Korea dominated the Men's Team Sabre competition in Fencing, while Iran had a fantastic day in Rowing, winning two gold medals. Spain dominated Great Britain in the finals of Men's Rugby 7s, while Argentina picked up a weightlifting gold (not their first, I believe). Meanwhile, many of the team competitions advanced further and further along, and there's still lots to happen there as the games continue!

Brazil had a stellar day at the pool today, taking home 5 medals in swimming alone, including 3 golds, to shoot up the medal counts. Another country sneaking up the medal counts? Iceland, which now has 5 medals, all Gold. (Okay, so that's a -1 for realism there, but we're working on it) Australia and Spain won the inaugural 3x3 basketball gold medals, while Japan FINALLY got their first gold medal of the games, in Judo. (Much life real-life, in that case) Tune in for more tomorrow!

Track and Field finally got underway, with a 10,000m final that was taken by Ukraine. Netherlands and Latvia took the two medals in BMX Racing, while France fitting won a Gold in fencing in the Men's Team Epee. Canada got a trampoline Gold, while Romania and Croatia were among the Rowing golds. Japan, meanwhile, got its second gold medal with one in swimming.

News- July 31st, 2021
The US came back on strong in the pool today, winning two more golds, while France also picked up one and Great Britain won the mixed medley relay (another reality check, no?). Denmark has themselves an archery champion, while Malaysia upset China to win Gold in Men's Doubles Badminton. USA downed New Zealand to take Gold in Women's Rugby 7s. Italy and Great Britain won tennis golds, denying Denmark from another Gold in the process, while host Japan won Golds in Weightlifting and Judo.
