I think it would be wise to implement a more convenient feature than the messenger feature because when I'm rejecting trade offers the 3 options sometimes aren't the reason why I am rejecting, so it becomes frustrating when I have to send a player a message.
 
For example: A player offers you a 1st liner (F) which is on your transfer needs. However, you specifically want a right handed shooter but the offered player is left handed.
 
You should be able to enter in a quick message back without having to go to the manager page to do it.
 
The character limit would be 100 or so, and you can say, 
 
"Sorry -insert manager name-, but I would like a right handed shooter, and then its a done deal."
 
I think this would be better to get trades to go through because reject reasons can be more specific and players can send proper counter offers.

Howz abouts: each league, in each gameworld has it's own all-star game, say between game 30 and game 31.  (Or 40 and 41?  45?) 
Team Oddz gets players from teams in the standings: 1st; 3rd; 5th; 7th, 9, 11, 13, 15, and Team Evenz from teams 2, 4, 6, ...etc.
Players could be automatically selected based on performance rating, or an algorythm of stats, with an obligation of one player from each team.
Hopefully injuries would be disabled, like I think they should be for pre-season friendlies. Perhaps a good confidence booster for players selected.

thought of something cool, since the game doesn't by default have international competitions, I could put the players into nhl 16 and try and sim a group stage + playoff of this. I will try and plan it out. There will be 8 GM/coaches asked to join, there will be 2 groups.
 
GROUP A      GROUP B
TEAM1           TEAM5
TEAM2           TEAM6
TEAM3           TEAM7
TEAM4           TEAM8
 
Each team will match up 2 times. 4th in both groups go home, 1st passes 1st round by default, 2v3 in both groups. All of the playoff series will be best of 3.
 
I don't know which countries I will chose to compete, probably same as official world cup of hockey.
 
Would you guys be interested in doing this? Im not accepting anyone for a team yet, but if you guys are interested please say so in the comments so I know. Im not going to do this if no one wants to take part.

GMS: Thanks for your explanation, but: your top of the league scoring? In case you haven't noticed; three players from my team have more points than your leading scorer, and I don't double-shift them either...

@GMS: You posted a few days ago saying you were interested in trading, and open to all offers.   From my point-of-view: I was offering you my second-line, point-per-game forward, for your third-line checker. Because of the difference in salaries: I threw-in a prospect that I thought you could use as trade-bait, perhaps. 
   But now I see that you only get-by with only 5 or 6 wingers, and would have no use for a solid 3rd or 4th line winger from a normal GHL team. Makes me wonder how your team surprised mine with 4 3rd period goals last time we played, when my grinders should have skated your 5 twinkle-toes into the ice. Adjustments will be made.
   Even if trades with under 90 players were blocked, (only for you I suppose, because us less-worthy managers are still interested in less-than 90 players), this one would not have been blocked, because there was a 90+ player involved!  Just that he was going the wrong way to your liking. 
    You want trades from me blocked?
