Stat optimization?

How hard is it to work on game stats? I´ve played about one season and from what I´ve seen, there were many games where the RB-stat lines were really bizarre. There were teams that gave their RB´s 33 Touches, but he only ended up with about 35 yards. Is there a way to tweak that? I don´t think a team would give its RB that many touches when he´s barely getting a yard per carry.
