  1. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - NBA FINALS (PREVIEW) The Suns are no mystery. The play solid defense, put up big numbers and have two of the best players in the league. PF Bernard Person is the best player in the league in my opinion and center Deandre Ayton is the leagues best big man. If you were ranking them among the top fifty players in the league, they would both be in the top five. They are that good. Person averages just over 34 ppg and Deandre Ayton averages just over 20 ppg, but Ayton is a force to be reckoned with on defense. The key to beating the Suns is obviously Person. If you can minimize the damage he can do and make his teammates pick up the slack, they are vulnerable. They don't have a ton of depth and rely on a lot of minutes from their starters. The Bulls are the favorites here, but this Suns team can put up a lot of points and are very difficult to beat at home. I think the series is going to be much closer than most people would predict. Interesting side note to this game, the Suns point guard is none other than Brennen McDuffie. McDuffie was taken by the Bulls with the #1 overall pick in the 2024 draft, but quickly fell out of favor and was subsequently traded to the Suns. PREDICTION: Bulls in seven. 2. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - CONFERENCE FINALS (GAME 7) Bulls fans, you can breath a sigh of relief. Devin Booker led all scorers with 37 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds in the Bulls to a 117-96 victory over the New York Knicks. The Bulls now advance to their fourth consecutive NBA Finals appearance with an opportunity to repeat as NBA Champions. The Bulls will face off against the Phoenix Suns, who advance to the finals after being down in the series three games to none. Kings fans must be gutted. They had the Suns down 0-3 with Bernard Person sidelined with an injury and couldn't close the deal. So it will be the Chicago Bulls vs the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals, with game one set to be played in Chicago. The United Center will be rocking and it should be a great series. 3. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - CONFERENCE FINALS (GAME 6) The New York Knicks put on a defensive clinic in their 113-91 victory over the Chicago Bulls and with the win they send the series to a game seven in Chicago. Knicks R.J. Barrett led all scorers with 41 points, 5 assists and 11 rebounds. Under normal circumstances, I think Bulls fans would be confident heading into a game seven at home, but it would certainly be a hard pill to swallow should the Bulls fail to advance to the finals after being up 3-0 in the series. The same can be said for the Sacramento Kings, who fell 127-123 to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns were led by Bernard Person, who returned to the lineup for the first time since the game five of their series with the Memphis Grizzlies. Person led all scorers with 48 points, 4 assists and 21 rebounds. Yea...he's that good! 4. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - CONFERENCE FINALS (GAME 5) Despite Devin Bookers 43 points and 7 rebounds, the Bulls still managed to blow an 18 point lead at home and the Knicks were able to steal game 5 with a 95-93 victory. With the series now heading back to New York, the Knicks have a very good shot at sending this series to a seventh game. Something that no Bulls fan wants to see. In the Western Conference, Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton scored 28 points, with 6 assists and 18 rebounds in the Suns dominate 106-86 victory over the Sacramento Kings. The most surprising aspect of this game was the absence of Bernard Person. According to reports, Person was cleared to play just before game time, but Suns Head Coach Byron Scott held him out of the game. Person will be in the lineup for game six in Sacramento. 5. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - CONFERENCE FINALS (GAME 4) The Knicks R.J. Barrett and Lauri Markkanen combined for 64 points in the Knicks 119-115 victory over the Chicago Bulls. With the win the Knicks stave off elimination, but the series now shifts back to Chicago where the Bulls are virtually impossible to beat. In the Western Conference the Phoenix Suns surprised everyone by defeating the Sacramento Kings 107-102 on the road. The Suns return home with new hope as Bernard Person will be returning to the lineup and not a moment to soon. Anything is possible when you have the best player in basketball on your team and Person's return to the lineup should be of some concern to the Kings. 6. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - CONFERENCE FINALS (GAME 3) New city, same results. The Bulls once again dominated the Knicks and Devin Booker was once again unstoppable. Booker led all scorers with 34 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds in the Bulls 121-107 victory. The Bulls are now one game away from clinching the series and advancing to their fourth consecutive NBA Finals. In the Western Conference the Phoenix Suns have all but given up. After getting outscored 33-12 in the first quarter, the Suns looked defeated, but when they went down by 34 they were downright demoralized. The Suns need a miracle at this point and unfortunately for them, their miracle is sidelined for three more days with an abdominal strain. 7. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - CONFERENCE FINALS (GAME 2) Justin McCuthison scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Bulls in their 117-108 victory over the New York Knicks. Once again the Bulls jumped out to fairly comfortable lead and never looked back. All five Bulls starters were in double figures and the team shot over 51% (45-88) from the field. The game actually could have been more lopsided, but the Bulls did not shoot well from three (9-24) or the free throw line (18-28). In the Western Conference, without Bernard Person in the lineup, the Suns are seemingly easy pickings. Forty percent from the field, sixteen percent from three and seventy-five percent from the free throw line is simply not going to get it done against a team like the Sacramento Kings. According to the Suns medical staff, the earliest that Person could return to the lineup would be for game six, but most pundits believe the series will be long over by then. 8. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - CONFERENCE FINALS (GAME 1) Bulls shooting guard Devin Booker led all scorers with 28 points in the Bulls 116-97 win over the New York Knicks and was named Player of the Game. The nineteen point victory was certainly impressive, but the Knicks were down by as many as thirty points in the third quarter. Truthfully, the Knicks were never a threat after the first quarter and the Bulls cruised to an easy game one victory. Bulls point guard D'Angelo Russell scored 26 points and shooting guard Jayson Tatum recorded a double-double, with 18 points and 10 rebounds. In the Western Conference, the absence of Bernard Person from the Suns lineup can't be overstated. Phoenix desperately could have used his 34.4 ppg, but it looks like Person will be out at least another week. If Phoenix can somehow hang on until he returns to the lineup they'll have a chance, but without him the Kings have a decided advantage. 9. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS (PREVIEW) This is not the team that Bulls fans were expecting to meet in the Conference Finals, but anyone who has been following the NBA this season knows that the Knicks are no fluke. They arguably have the stingiest defense in the league. Mitchell Robinson is without a doubt the best defensive center in the league and he has been for years. R.J. Barrett and Michael Porter are also two of the best defenders at their respective positions. Scoring against this Knicks defense will not be easy, as the Atlanta Hawks so recently found out. Where the Knicks struggle is offensively. They are a very poor three-point and free throw shooting team and their field goal percentage is just above average. Then again, the Knicks don't need to score a lot of points if they are playing good defense. This series will be intriguing, as you have the high octane Bulls offense versus the smothering Knicks defense. I have the Bulls winning the series in six games, but this is one of those series that could go either way. One thing is for certain, Spike Lee is going to be monumentally annoying. 10. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - SECOND ROUND (GAME 6) Crazy developments in the other series. First, in the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks upset the Atlanta Hawks and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals after winning a 142-135 overtime thriller. In the Western Conference, the Phoenix Suns advance to the Western Conference Finals on the efforts of Suns forward Bernard Person who scored 65 points against the Grizzlies. 16. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - SECOND ROUND (PREVIEW) The Detroit Pistons are a well coached, hard working, no nonsense, blue collar type of a team. They have a solid starting five and play solid team basketball, with a tough nosed defense that is reminiscent of the former "Bad Boys". Power forward Shyrone Rivers is the leader of this team and although he can be a streaky shooting, when he gets hot he can be deadly. Former Chicago Bulls point guard, Coby White, is the teams floor general and he excels in just about every aspect of the game. Averaging 21.6 ppg, White is capable of lighting up the scoreboard. However, the primary offensive threat on this team is PF Jaxson Hayes, who averages 23.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Their biggest Achilles heel is there poor three-point shooting. They have an excellent defense, that generally keeps them in virtually every game they play, but if their shooting touch goes cold, their lack of a real outside threat can hinder their ability to shoot their way out of a deficit. Also, the Pistons have had difficulty containing Bulls shooting guard Devin Booker and center Justin McCuthison. Hankins added 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 4 steals. Unfortunately for the Magic, forward Joaquin Villarreal suffered and injury in the game. Coach Brett Brown avoided questions on the injury after the game, but a spokesman from the Magic's medical staff said that Villarreal would need to be evaluated later today, but is definitely going to miss some time. Miles Bridges came off the bench for the injured Jayson Tatum, but was ineffective in his 44 minutes of play. Bridges was 1 of 8 shooting and 0-2 from three. He will need to play much better if the Bulls are going to win without Tatum in the lineup. 23. 2028-2029 SEASON - CHICAGO BULLS PRESS RELEASE Troy Dalton has officially told the Chicago Bulls that he will be stepping down as General Manager at the conclusion of the 2028-2029 season. This will be Dalton's tenth year as the Bull's GM and during that time the Bulls have enjoyed ten winning seasons, ten playoff appearances, four NBA Championships and are poised to make a serious run at a fifth title this year. "This has been such a great run," said Bulls owner Phil Humphries. "Troy has been such a great ambassador for the game and for Chicago. I hope that when Chicago wakes up to the news after mourning just a little bit, they will step back and feel great pride in his accomplishments and all the entertainment he provided. He won with grace and dignity, and Troy goes out that way, too." Although Dalton's future is unknown at this time, it is clear that he has left the Bulls well prepared for the future. With the exception of Steven Adams, the Bulls will be returning every single player from this years roster. Considering the team finished the regular season with a record of 71-11, I'd say that the next GM will be thrilled to have inherited such a great team. There has been some speculation that because Dalton has refused to adhere to the owners team/staff salary demands, his departure is actually being orchestrated by Humphries himself. There may be some truth to that, since Dalton resigned the entire coaching staff with little regard to budget restrictions. However, success usually affords general managers and coaches a lot more freedom to exceed budgetary constraints and if the Bulls do manage to win back-to-back NBA titles, all would certainly be forgiven. However, there are rumors that Dalton has been quietly offered the general manager position of the expansion Virginia Squires. Prior to taking the Bulls job ten years ago, Dalton was a long time resident of the Hampton Roads area. Dalton moved there in 1983 and he still maintains a home there, where he spends much of the off season. Although most people could not imagine why Dalton would ever consider leaving the Bulls, sources close to Dalton suggested that he has always dreamed of building a franchise from scratch. The Squires would certainly provide him that opportunity. Dalton could not be reached for comment, and messages left for Head Coach Brian Starks last night were not returned. ---------------------
  24. 2028-2029 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - FIRST ROUND (PREVIEW) Orlando has two of the best players in the league, point guard Matt Hankins and small forward Joaquin Villarreal. Hankins is hands down the best point guard in the league and outside of the Phoenix Suns Bernard Person, you could make an argument that he is the best player in the league. Hankins is a future Hall of Fame candidate and he averages 30.2 points, 7.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds a game. It is an understatement to say that he is the heart and soul of this Magic team. Everything goes through him and when he is on the court the Magic are a force to be reckoned with. However, outside of his teammate Joaquin Villarreal, who is without question the best small forward in the league, the team lacks any real size or depth. Orlando starts three small forwards and power forward Jabari Parker is the starting center. Shooting guard Buddy Hield comes off the bench as the Magic's sixth man, but beyond that, there really isn't much else left in the Magic's cupboard. This lack of size and depth makes the Magic fairly one dimensional and it is the primary reason why the Magic finished the season with a losing record. Hankins and Villarreal can certainly cause most teams trouble, but the Bulls are a tall order and without the tools to slow down the Bulls potent offense, Orlando has little hope of winning a game, much less the series. 25. 2028-2029 SEASON - APRIL Another season comes to an end and once again the Bulls enter the NBA playoffs with the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. This our tenth consecutive trip to the playoffs and the second season in a row that the Bulls have won 70+ games. I think we have a real chance of repeating as NBA Champions, if we can get past the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks are by far our most difficult opponent and as the #2 seed in the East, we won't have to face them until the Conference Finals. Having lost to us in the first round last year, the Hawks are going to be looking to exact some revenge and most pundits believe the winner of the Eastern Conference will be the odds on favorites to win the NBA title. If we can get to the NBA Finals, it will be our fourth trip to the finals in as many years. If we can win the title, it will be our second title in a row and our fifth in a decade. However, lets not count our eggs before they are hatched. There is a lot of basketball yet to be played and anything can happen in the playoffs.
