CTGames reacted to Ten4Two in Suggestions
Thanks for the reply. I like the game but its a bit buggy. Maybe its time to charge people to use it. For example I notice the special teams plays are gone if I edit the play book. Also the game hasn't been transferring my practice schemes to new recruits. When I add the schemes to their routine the game will crash. It would be worth paying $15 or $20 if the game didnt have these bugs. Great game, thanks for building it.

Those are all some great inputs, and we will for sure try to implement as many as them as possible for the next release 🙂

This game has a lot of great features. There are a few bugs, my special teams play disappears when I edit the Playbook. Starting a new game from inside a game causes a freeze. Here are my suggestions:
Game Guide. Another user here has a pretty decent walk through but specific details on how practices work, how the recruiting works, etc The play editor is buggy. Sometimes a back deep in the backfield wont be visible on the play editor More than just route options for the play editor. If I am creating zone I should be able to show zones, QB spy, key on flow etc. With this layout you can remove the options for zone, man and blitz and create unique plays. The same goes for offensive plays. It would be cool to put men in motion or have a hand off or option read. In game play calling. Add features like challenges, replays and double teams or having someone match up with one of their best players. Stats for plays, so you can see how effective they are and in what situations they are effective. Recruiting management. Could be computer assisted but still have simple inputs such as go after this recruit aggressively by allocating so many points to this recruit until they are signed or say no. Assigning practice screens could have attributes to show what a player needs. Do they need weight lifting or track practice? Input on allocating funds for campus. Either on equipment, facilities, stadiums etc. Fake play designs. More random events. Usually in sim games its done via a newspaper function. Why change whats not broken. Maybe post game interviews etc. You get a salary but what do you spend the money on? I think this covers my initial assessment and suggestion.

Thanks for it and we are aware that there are still bugs to fix. But we are working on it 🙂
Regarding your issue I have tested it a lot locally, and I can't recreate it, so have you tried to start a game without your created folders in it, and see if it is working?

Just bought the game today. Played FOF The College Years from the moment it was released. Progressed onto Bowl Bound where I stayed as it was the best all-around sim for college football. Now I am here as what I hope will become the best sim on the subject! Need to figure out the game as it currently is and look forward to MANY college coaching careers!

CTGames reacted to BeatMyMeat in Game crash
If you create a new training scheme and delete the Standard you get a message that all the players will be assigned to another scheme but that actually never happens(also recruits come with no training scheme assigned).
If a player is not assigned a training scheme and you press the Save button on the left, the game suddenly closes. I think an error message like "all players need to be assigned to a scheme" would be more fitting than the game crashing 😁.

CTGames reacted to BeatMyMeat in Player got drafted 1st overall 2 years in a row
At the end of the 2022 season my Senior QB requested a trade(despite playing every game, winning every game of the season, and this being his last season in college) and transferred to Alabama. I paid no attention to it knowing that he was going Pro. I got the Pro Draft notification and he went first overall. Next season I was surprised to see he got drafted 1st overall again, but this time with Alabama. Unfortunately I have no screenshot when the trade happened since I thought it was irrelevant.
Disclaimer: I'm European so my knowledge of how college football works is limited, but I think that once you go Pro you can't go back.

Almost like a spreadsheet view of each player and their numerical ratings. I attached what I started with my QBs. It may be in the game, I just haven't been able to find it yet.

CTGames reacted to Paul C in First season in prestige mode - major decisions
End of year review
So how did my team get on following the approach outlined in the steps above. Well we finished rank #10, having gone undefeated all season (albeit not playing any high ranked teams and being in a relatively low status division). Or overall recruiting was sucessful with the following showing the overall results:
The only real worry and gap is at Centre - where we will only have 3 seniors, all of whom will be final year Seniors next year(assuming none declare early and are picked in the NFL draft). This will be a real focus for recruiting next year and I already have a lead for a junior 3* centre that I targeted half way through the year.
My overall recruiting class for this first year is as follows:
Plus a 2* FB on the bottom, which I couldn't quite fit on screen, but was a contingency if my prime 4* FB didn't commit). My bonus was getting Harlan Stamper a 5* CB, who I managed to recruit almost uncontested. From those that rejected you'll see the number of running backs that turned my side down through the year - I really struggled to find RBs that would commit to my team, so ended thankfully with a 4* (Robert Murray) and a 3* JUCO transfer (Jack Frakes); hopefully with solid training I will be able to establish some form of running game next year, rather than being so one-dimensionally pass heavy. I managed what I think is a good balance of 12 Seniors, focussed on filling immediate needs and 7 mostly 4* Juniors which will take some of the immediate pressure off recruiting next year).
Some final highlights after the first season:
9 players drafted, including the 9th overall draft pick. The records show how pass heavy the offense was that first year with nearly 6,000 yards in the air and less than 1,000 on the ground. The teams overall reputation rating increased to 72 and the presetige sky-rocketed with the 9 players drafted by the NFL. All in all, a season way above expectation for a smaller college with limited football legacy.
As a final bonus I'll finish on the main thing I wished I'd known the first time I played this through (and a call back to earlier). At the start of the second year, remember to set training patterns for all your new recruits (and the walk-ons once they arrive). This was something that totally passed me by on my first playthough. I assumed that as I only had a single default training pattern, all the new players would slot in. They don't and I wondered why all the new recruits didn't live up to their hype. Several seasons in I found the players tab of the training menu and realised all the post-year 1 players had empty training assignments:
So thats it from me. If you are reading this you've made it all the way to the end of this guide/walkthrough. Thank you, I hope this was helpful as an overview of the main actions and decisions needed for the first season of prestige. Good luck in your own path as Head Coaches.
