You hit the nail on the head.  A Checking line wants to be Physical and have high Spirit; Defense and Endurance help too.

Grinders are good candidates for a Checking line, and you can always change a Player's Role from the Action drop down menu on the Team page.  Personally, I only change a player's role if they are equal to or greater than another category (e.g. a player has a full green bar in both TwoWay and Grinder).  This may be tough at the LIHL level though.

Hey, it is maybe just me but I have a feeling that computers are a little less stiff than before the update? I haven't really dealt with them tbh, but I've had a nice trade sent by a computer team at the beginning of the season and since, I saw maybe one or two intriguing (not one sided but i'd say surprising a little) in the trade section. Ain't looking to stir anything, but I'd like to hear some opinions on the matter. Thanks

Hey guys! Fillmore Flame LIHL (was once East Barre Mavericks - day 30ish) is looking into a rebuild since playoffs are looking out of sight heading into the 2nd half of the season and have been for sometime these past seasons. In general, we are looking for young talented players/prospects and preferably draft picks. We are also interested in any defensemen (OFF or TW preferred or nice shooting stat), and physical/spirit/defensive forwards; longer contracts preferred as players do not have much interest in resigning with us as of yet. Here are my list of players I am shopping, though everyone on my roster, including draft picks are assets I am willing to negotiate. My 1st round and UNT players are no-goes. Thanks Fishbowl, and good luck with the rest of the season!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all managers!

We are so looking forward to the new year with such big things happening in Game Plan hockey manager! The new upgrade is looking good and will give you more competition with more leagues and and conferences. A whole new jersey design and even much more later on.

As earlier mentioned the new release will take place in the beginning of January. And after all the holidays has passed we will make an announcement about all info regarding this.

Yes, you're right. We're getting tired of excuses. And the release was announced too early. But I really thought it would be ready by October. I was wrong.

So what's happening? Currently I put several hours into the new release every day and things are progressing. The new league structures and playoffs are developed and are being tested out. The design is almost finished for desktops and larger screens. Here's a screenshot: https://cl.ly/13e1bb5fe116

I will from now on provide a screenshot or an update at least once a week up to time of the release. I also recorded a sneak peak on how to customise team jerseys. I posted this in the jersey discussion found here: http://forums.gmgames.org/topic/10046-new-jerseys/?do=findComment&comment=37343

The release is still planned for December but probably not the first week. And as Glawing pointed out the current server will be active until the release is made with the one exception that it will be physically moved last weekend of November.

So no more excuses from now on =)

    Hi all!

Sorry for not being active here on the forum. We are giving all our hours into developing right now.

There have been a misunderstanding here. The game will not be "closed" in November. There will be a short down period. Because our server provider will move their office in the mid November. So we have to move the server also. We do hope this will be as short and smooth as possible but we keep you posted. This is of course not the perfect solution or timing for that matter.

Just to clarify! We will keep the "old" game open until the new relaunch is ready.

We understand if people are losing interest but we only hope you have a little more patience. We doing our best right now to develop the best possible gaming experience in hockey management there is. We listen to your tips and advices and trying to implement as much as possible into the game.

Giygas reacted to Arukas in Undrafted, yet Unshakeable: The True Underdog Story of Yan Yurevich
"Probably Dimitir Evtuh. The way (he) could move around and put the puck in the net was amazing. I want to score goals like him."

A young Yan Yurevich, speaking through a translator, gave that response when asked who he idolized while growing up in Belarus. The budding forward missed his first year of action with the CAHL North Sydney Silent Pirates, but he continued to stay optimistic and looked forward to make an impact in his second year. He was happy to have another opportunity to play after going undrafted. The few scouts that looked his way noted his impressive physique, but felt he didn't have great hands and that he was too slow to make it in the pros, even at the LIHL level. They were about to be proven wrong.

    LIHL

Yurevich finished his second year with North Sydney, tallying 6 goals and 13 assists in 50 games, but only managing to have 11 minutes of ice time per game. When asked if he was disappointed with that fact, Yan replied, "A little, yeah. I want the chance to prove myself like everyone else does. The team always comes first, but I feel like I can do more to help."

With Yan's contract expiring, it was unknown whether or not he'd get another opportunity. Until...

The Michigan Center Fury had just come off of a 14th place finish in the LIHL, after relocating from the San Antonito Black Bears. "We were just looking for some new blood, something to put a spark back in this team", the GM said, addressing the need to add younger talent to an aging roster. There must have been something about Yurevich that caught the attention of the newly-appointed GM, because the first off-season move he attempted was to sign the young power forward. Without hesitation, Yurevich accepted. "I can't believe it, I've loved hockey my whole life, and now I can continue to live my dream". The contract was a two-year deal, so while there was some job security, the message was clear: this is your shot, now go out there and prove it.

    Years One and Two

Yurevich's first year in the LIHL proved to be not what he'd hoped, scoring 5 goals and 19 points in an injury-shortened 46 games, all while only logging 9 minutes per game. "We wanted to get his feet wet, I know he was unhappy with the approach, but we had to ease him in while working out some other aspects of this game", the Fury GM said of his rookie's performance. While the Fury improved and made it into the playoffs, they failed to promote. Yurevich was a non-factor, registering zero points in three games and only averaging 6 minutes of ice time.
Yurevich, visibly upset with the way the season went and the lack of ice time, responded by saying, "If they're only going to play me on the 3rd and 4th lines, I guess I'll just have to be the best *expletive* 3rd liner there is".

The Fury had another productive off-season, acquiring Gabryel Nolasco from the Minnedosa Musketeers for a 1st round pick, adding a much-needed 1st-line center. With Yurevich's commitment to a more defensive style, he was given a chance on the 3rd line with roommate James Dunkelberger. "Dunks is a good guy. He's helping me with English but his Belarusian needs a lot of work", Yurevich chuckled. "Yan talks a lot of crap", Dunkelberger joked after a game. "We're always competing because we're on separate penalty kill lines. He always tells me 'I got this' before we go out there on the PK, and most of the times he's right".

    He was right.

The Fury finished the season with a record 158 points, clinching an IHL berth. Yurevich played in all 60 games, scoring 15 goals and 38 points, with a +34 on the season. The question was: Had Yurevich done enough to earn a new contract?
