so, playoffs coming soon... here is my score so far, with all possible opponents

    Vs Leopards 2-2
    Vs Union 1-2
    Vs Minuteman 4-0
    Vs Duhawks 2-1
    Vs Nightmares 1-3
    Vs Red Tide 1-3
    Vs Bulldogs 3-1

Too bad we don't have head to head info on versus page. I just can't seem to get going against some teams, Red Tide and Nightmares would be first to point out. Last season as well. Might be playstyle? Anyways, looking forward to playoffs

The next 8 or so games for me will show if my early success is fleeting or if I've truly turned the team around from last season's mess.  All 8 games are against teams currently in the playoffs and most in the top half of the standings.  Lost a weird one against Leopards last night.  We each had a SHG and he went 1/2 on PP against the #1 PK unit in the league (well, before last night, haha!) by getting three goals in the 3rd to win 4-2.  Didn't help I was short handed the last 3.5 minutes of the game either!

    Breaking News!

“Welcome to Hockey Night here on channel 684, in Blakely. I’m your Host Billy-Bob Bobbs with co-anchor Tina Bertha. We have some breaking news coming from the Black Flag’s stadium “Pandamanium” - It looks like this season is starting out with a pre-season delay due to a beer shortage!”

“This is a tragic scene Bobbs. Concessions stands are being raided and at least 5 servers walking the stairs have already died due to head trauma from ‘accidental falls’.”

“It sure is Bertha, how are we supposed to watch a game without some ale?!”

“Firefighters are on the scene fighting the blazes on the south end but we have seen some semis from Beerfilder heading North on I-75 towards the stadium.”

“Hopefully we can get this delay worked out as there is only 1 ref still alive and we would love to see a game sometime tonight!”

“You betcha Tina - let’s get those taps open! Have a great night everyone and remember, ‘when you need hockey news we’re the only ones in the 600s that’s still broadcasting at 3AM!’ Go get em Black Flag!”

Tyrod Gibson reacted to Wick Schozen in How to train specific attributes
Posing this question because I am not exactly sure how to train specific attributes. Spirit and endurance are the ones I am most unsure of but I was reading another tread that proposed some basic idea of which training settings trains what particular attributes.

I would like one of the developers to have some input on this. If this game is attempting to be realistic there should not be confusion on how to develop your players. As in real life if a player in an organization had a clear deficiency they would focus on developing that area of the players game. Player development should not be a trial and error procedure when we only have three criteria of player training.

Does offensive training target: Speed, passing, puck control and shooting.
Does defensive training target: Defense, physicality, spirit and endurance.
Is general training an even distribution of all attributes?

Again, when skill development in real life is a concise and deliberate initiative it should not be a guessing game.

Pretty interesting GHL draft, a few last second deals, a few interesting selections.  The Nightmares ended up with Albert Massi at 18th overall, a slightly underrated sniper ranked 25th at the final draft rankings.

Good luck to the remaining teams in the playoffs.  The Leopards will be watching from the golf course.  Actually, I hate golf.

Just be aware that the 1st round exit has lit a fire under our a$$es are the Leopards are angry heading into Season 2.

Since (most) of us can take a good joke on here, it'd be great to also see more creative awards.  For instance, rookie of the year would be a good legit one for a player that is in his first season in GHL (no matter the age) who leads in points or whatever stats you want to toss in.

Some other funny ones could be:
    Best/Worst Goals Per $ spent
    Worst Plus/Minus
Swiss Cheese Award for Goalie that meets minimum games played requirement (~10) and lowest Save %
Broken Stick Award for the player with the most Giveaways

Open to other suggestions, but whatever award people come up with, please explain your methodology just so we know.

With the end of the season here, I decided to create an awards list for best players in GHL Cage, using NHL template as example - to make it more of a lived-in world, and simply because I think the players deserve some individual recognition for all the work they have done for us this season.
Calculations are shown where relevant. Runner-ups for each category are also included. Enjoy!
