  1. I don't understand what the manager in question being an admin has anything to do with you regretting a trade you made. Admins have 0 advantages over the rest of us. They're just a team of managers - 2 in each world - that make sure nothing sus happens

  2. 36 seasons isn't a "new player" it doesn't matter how long you've been away from the game. 36 is A LOT.

Gary Bettman is irrelevent and an idiot.

Also the other manager DID know what he was doing. He was taking a risk - hoping you would promote and turn the pick into a top 4. He made this trade worth it to you by giving you an 87ovr 18yr old center.

If you happened to not promote, he would have lost a very good player for nothing. And the player you got, helped you promote and is also still a very good player in the GHL.

This is not predatory, this is not unfair.

This is a trade that served both parties. If you've seen what *actual* abusive trades are the GHL, you'd see that this is nothing of the sort.

  3. Eric, you have 36 seasons under your manager profile. Even if you were a new manager it wouldn't change things because this trade wasn't a predatory move. You got a player who by the time he's 20 will be 90 overall, and will likely come to be 92-93. The trade isn't bad and just because the top 4 in this draft turns out to be players slightly better than the one you got, sounds like you need to learn how to look at the draft before accepting such offers.

Agree with the sentiment, but disagree with some of the reasoning.  This conversation had been had before and I think needs to continue until there is a fix.

I agree that hoarding is an issue.  Not one of the games main issues, but definitely an issue.  So how do we fix it?  I am not a fan of gentleman's agreements, so if the game allows it, it's not cheating.  Asking managers to drop players or trade players is asking them to help the competition and why would they do that?

    My solutions would be:

    1. Roster Limits.  There's no reason a GHL team needs more than 30 players.  I understand this can be tricky with promoting teams, but I don't see how any team would have a major issue with this if managed properly.  It would also force teams to make quality decisions on which players to start, put in the affiliate or drop.

    2. Better contracts.  Right now contracts are way too low and allowing managers to sign players too cheap.  Cheaper players means more players (and/or a team of all 90+ overall players, which is probably an even bigger issue).

Until those two things are resolved, hoarding will happen - and again, it's not against the rules.

But I'm having trouble with why you called out the teams you did given that your roster is 37 players.

How do you compare my team with the others I listed. Yes I have a decent amount of players in the minors but they're also BHL level players I just signed recently so my prospects would stop getting tired so quickly down there. I have 1 player that's 80 overall and the rest are just fodder that the FA is still full of.

  5. Promoting to the GHL is a difficult thing to do.

Promoting and surviving your first season at this point is extremely difficult because the free agency is garbage. It's been garbage for many seasons now. Why is the FA trash? Because managers have entire team's worth of players just rotting away in the minors with no intention of bringing them up, or trading them. So then the very very few players available in the FA are bid on wildly getting double the salary that they ask for because the demand is so high.

Whether the fix is creating an engine to make players refuse to sign with a manager known for player hoarding, or just putting a 6-8 player cap on the minors... Something needs done because this is embarrassing.

Here's the proof. Harrow, Batchawana, Oshawa, and to a lesser extent - North Shore since most of those players are from his SHL club and just recently promoted - are prime examples. Think of the value these players could add to promoting teams. It's a s*** way to manage a team and screw over other managers.

  6. Player requested roles are completely broken when promoting.

I'm losing most of my team since they will not be able to perform at the GHL level, but I'm losing even more because the players that I do want to keep are demanding star player when they are 4th liners at best.

    Examples:

Sechapio is an 80 overall player, but demands 1st line in the GHL?

Gent played 55 games and was on the 4th line, but demands star player for GHL?

Ming is currently on a 3rd-4th GHL contract who has just been traded to me. His contract is immediately expiring, yet he demands star player

Here are pictures of the contract demands.

I think the role feature needs looking at and tweaked.

  7. I'm hoping to build off the success I found in the 2nd half of the previous season. I was swept in the first round, due to my leading scorer who lead the GHL in points being injured.

I improved my goalie situation, and found a stable 3rd D pair. But this game can be weird, good players don't = good results.

So far Buzzer hasn't gained the same traction as Cage for game world communication but hopefully it'll start to turn.

I'm back up in the GHL now. Coming out of my four season rebuild and hopefully ready to compete. I've got my stretch goal for this season being the playoffs but with such a young roster I don't think it's out of the question that my team under performs to my expectations.

I've got the core of my team constructed now. When the new season starts I'll have nine players below the age of 22 that are over 87 overall, four of which are above 90 overall. I'll be looking to fill out the edges of my roster in free agency and then continue to build through the draft over the next few seasons to hopefully build a roster that can consistently contend for a title.

How in the world did you get that many highly skilled young players without being in the GHL. SHL drafts haven't gotten me much, and even my 2nd round GHL picks aren't over low 80s.

  9. Really happy with my season. About 20-30 games in, I thought I would be fighting at the top all season, but I came crashing down.

I still finished strong after a bad mid season, and made my first playoffs in the GHL. Was up 2-0 in the second round before losing 3 in a row.

Overall very happy with my season and hope I'm in the GHL for good now

  10. Not sure what to call this thread but what's going on with your team right now?

I spent 2 seasons ago in the GHL for the first time and had 4 wins. I'm back now after an SHL promotion and I already have 2 wins so hooray for improving lol

  11. This isn't true at all. When you get demoted, you lose all players on a one way contract, which is many. I just got demoted from GHL and my team is pretty much at standard if not a little above standard SHL level.

Aha so the rumour is correct that a team that is demoted can just keep their roster intact but not being able to make any moves?

Seems about as questionable as the trade thing with Computers. Saw one of those yesterday that i just had to report cheating on since it was an 18 year old that had +3 Overall on a 31 year old, even though it obviously wont lead anywhere. That one made my stomach turn.

I'm not sold on starting doing that stuff, but i guess in the long run its either that or stop playing.
