  1. Third of the season update: 1) Rafael Bolduc - 89 OVR Forward ... most GHL goals. Bolduc has 13 goals and is currently 6 goals back of the leaders (Whitely and Breton, 19). Probably not possible to catch them as they are playing lights out, but a Top 5 finish in goals for Bolduc would be a success. Bolduc now at 31 goals, currently tied for 5th, and 5 back of Elie-Breton. Still eyeing that top 5 finish, hoping for top 2. 2) Kvido Zluky - 86 OVR Defenseman ... most GHL Points by a defenseman. Zluky currently has 17 points. Leader has 24. I expect a late season surge. Although he will have to catch his own teammate first, Nickerson, who has 22. Zluky has 43 points. The leader has 54. This one is slowly slipping away. He is currently 3rd in +/- and the pair of Zluky-Nickerson is Corsi 60 and PDO 70. Can't ask for much more. 3a) Henri Pohl - 83 OVR Goalie ... I want this guy to win Vezina. Given his low endurance and the fact that my team wins might be lower than usual, I don't think that is possible. Instead, I am going to try and get him 50-55 starts with the goal of GHL's best save percentage. Abort! Abort! I folded on this one early and I'm not happy about it. But Pohl shouldn't have been as bad as he was. Oh well. Time to move on. 3b) I will play the hot hand in goal and Pohl will be given a long leash to keep the starting job. In the event George Mercredi earns the starting job from Pohl, the same goal applies. This guy has been a dud as well. A couple of games ago he blew a 4-0 lead halfway through the second. High expectations for a pair of Heroic veterans did not work out. 4) Svend Clausen - 82 OVR Forward ... most GHL Points and/or Goals by a rookie. Another dud. Clausen has 1 point in 10 games and has spent most of the season in the AAHL. My goals for the less skilled players were a bit unreasonable. Lesson learned. 4 points in 20 games. All assists. Hopefully he bounces back next season with a more consistent role. 5) Jeremie Cline - 97 OVR Center ... best GHL +/-. Cline is sitting at +18. Leader is +24. This can change in a blink. Cline is a +38. The leader is +46. This one is still in reach, although there are 2 other Stealheads, Nickerson and Zluky, sitting at +40. 6) Any single player on the Stealheads to record a Gordie Howe Hattrick. If accomplished, that player will earn a $2M roster bonus. Not yet, but hopeful. Still nothing. Very disappointing.
  2. Updated as of Day 10. That will be the final update for Season 5.
  3. Yeah, I had a ton, especially in the days leading up to the draft. There was one day with 30+ messages to the same manager. Once you delete them all it's worth it. The menu taking forever to load was driving me nuts. It's worth the 10-20 mins to delete them all.
  4. I did it in about 10 minutes. Are you using your phone or laptop? If laptop, you can open like 10 tabs at a time.
  5. I deleted all of my World Messages and most of my World PMs and the page load time is now approximately 5 seconds compared to the previous 15-20 seconds. A noticeable difference. Still a slight lag from the other tabs which take about a second to load, but much better. Agree with Deadwing - with Discord and the new messaging system, we probably don't have a use for the World PMs.
  6. Now that you mention it, for me it is both. When I originally try to load the Manager tab and when switching to the history tab. Also, when deleting messages, it takes quite a while for the page to load again. And it's only the Manager tab... Team, League and Transfers all load quickly.
  7. I’ll throw an update on these Day 8 or 9.
  8. Looking through rosters to pick out players age 18-21 that have never played a GHL game before is not gonna happen. To me, a rookie is an 18 year old... not a 19 or 20 year old that was too sh!tty to play a game yet . If needed, I can change my silly goal from "rookie" to "18 year old". But for the purposes of this, only 18-year olds will apply. I like the second idea and something I had been thinking of myself last season. Let's see if we remember or have time.
  9. Season 5 Power Rankings - updated as of Day 10. Hopefully the excel/screenshot method is readable for everyone. EASTERN CONFERENCE WESTERN CONFERENCE Top 5 Offenses: 1) Slaughterville Red Tide 2) Sheshegwaning Dragons 3) Enigma Rage 4) Sault Ste Marie Battlin Bears 5) Big Delta Stealheads Top 5 Defenses: 1) Victoria Regals 2) Sheshegwaning Dragons 3) Ithaca Ricochet 4) Rome Trojans 5) Slaughterville Red Tide _______________________________________________________ The formula: Team OVR = (OFF + (DEF * 2) + (SG * 2)) / 26 Where: OFF = sum of 12 highest rated centers & forwards* DEF = sum of 6 highest rated defenders* SG = overall of starting goalie * unless managers provided their unique roster set-up Originally created by: Erzac
  10. For GPHM purposes, 18 years old.
  11. As many will see, the Big Delta Stealheads will be taking a few steps back in this season's power rankings and will be focusing on developing some younger players. We plan on remaining competitive in the hunt for the prestigious Golden Cup, but want to have some fun this season with individual player incentives. Below are a few I will be tracking this season. Mostly far fetched goals that will be difficult to attain given the tough competition - and frankly, I will be surprised if they are accomplished. Also important to note that I won't be doing anything out of the ordinary to try and force these goals other than my typical roster and tactical set up. Feel free to add your own (not limited to GHL). 1) Rafael Bolduc - 89 OVR Forward ... most GHL goals. 2) Kvido Zluky - 86 OVR Defenseman ... most GHL Points by a defenseman. 3b) I will play the hot hand in goal and Pohl will be given a long leash to keep the starting job. In the event George Mercredi earns the starting job from Pohl, the same goal applies. 4) Svend Clausen - 82 OVR Forward ... most GHL Points and/or Goals by a rookie. 5) Jeremie Cline - 97 OVR Center ... best GHL +/-. 6) Any single player on the Stealheads to record a Gordie Howe Hattrick. If accomplished, that player will earn a $2M roster bonus.

    National Team: Italy

Yoooo... I was thinking the same thing!

    National Team: Italy

Carrying over a tradition from game world Biscuit, I present the Cage Italian National Team for Season 5. This was a bit time consuming, but enjoyable to pull together. Led by 88 overall power forward, Oscar Bresciano, and 87 overall offensive defenseman, Vitaliy Leon - both of whom play for GHL's Eldred Elite. There are also a few youngsters to watch who will be stars for years to come. 18 year old forwards Leonardo Piatti and Matias Boudianski, who were GHL 1st round picks this past season - along with defenseman Michael Papa Waigo, who was a GHL 1st round pick the season prior. Captained by 23 year old, 80 overall defenseman, Luca Bonera.
  14. Absolutely. No explanation necessary. I just needed to voice support for my guy. I'm not like that other manager who used to get all butt-hurt over the awards and ended up quitting. Also, it was a good opportunity to throw some shade at Shore and Lang
  15. Thanks for pulling these together. Is it just me or does someone from the Steelers always take the Roid Rage Trophy? Their strength and conditioning coaches are doing something right over there! Slightly bummed that Pohl didn't get Vezina consideration. Agree with Cutter winning, but Pohl is better than those other two scrubs, Shore and Lang. It's my own fault for not realizing his greatness until midway through the season. I need to do a better job of getting him more games.
  16. Is this still happening to anyone? All pages are fine, except the Manager page. It takes this 15-20 seconds to load.
  17. First season after a rebrand always results in a dip in the standings. It's all uphill from here. Good luck to the Vortex in season 5.

    Injuries

It doesn't get much more even than that, so that is not the issue. I've seen teams play 40% line 1 and 50% first pair D with no problems. My splits are very similar to yours. When players get tired I'll usually adjust special teams as needed.

    Injuries

I'm afraid your situation can't be easily explained. Think it's a bit of randomness and bad luck at a bad time in the season. I noticed some of the skaters that were injured had low-ish endurance, but nothing out of the ordinary for your league level - and you definitely aren't overplaying them. Your goalies also seem to have a nice rotation. If you or your opponent were playing Hard or Dirty it might explain things a little more, but I have no insight into that. As far as what leads to players getting injured more frequently in the game, there are numerous factors. - Injury proneness of the specific player - Player fatigure... players being exhausted are more at risk of suffering an injury. There's a few things that impact player fatigue... too much ice time, low endurance, training intensity. - You or your opponent playing Hard or Dirty

  22. The reports do have useful information, but they are more indicative of the "on paper" matchup and less based on the actual game results. Like how well your tactics stack up against your opponent and how well your line focuses match up. So even if the wording doesn't necessarily reflect the game results, it may give you hints on how to improve your team for the next game. In my response above, my scoring line has minor issues with their focus, but they were able to overcome those issues and there could be quite a few factors for that... the players are just that good, the other teams defense underperformed, or the other teams goalie underperformed. Maybe I would have had even better results if I played that line as Two Way. But I agree with you to an extent, the wording is very misleading, especially for new managers. If my team is playing well, I tend to ignore the reports. If my team wasn't playing well, I would look for clues in the reports to figure out why. I specifically look to see two things. 1 - that my players fit the role and line focus. 2 - how my captains impacted the game. Other than that, I don't rely on the reports much.
  23. I don't pay much attention to the wording on the reports. For example: Exactly this.
