Well this is not the answer you looking for. But we are currently working with some major things which we need to be ready before we can tell you about launch date.

By the end of the week we hope to give you a more specific launch date.

Well keeping Records from the great teams of the past is important. I don't know of any team coming close to 7 straight 1st place Finishes, or 5 straight Stanley cups in the near future.
I honestly wish we just kept ties, I mean once you've battled out 60 minutes and there is no score each team splits the win.

I agree.  Not that I was around for the 60s & 70s, but I've watched plenty of replays and those close, low scoring games were exciting.  Especially considering back then goalies had to make more flashy, reaction type saves.  I think for most people, low scoring games stopped being exciting when goalie equipment got bigger and nowadays, saves are more positional than reactionary.  It's really an unfair criticism and underrated skill, however, it is less exciting for fans, so it is what it is.  I somewhat blame the NJ Devils as their Trap games in the mid-90s were downright boring to watch.  It takes a special person (or Devils fan) to appreciate that type of hockey.

As for the point system... I have always viewed this game as more of an Olympic/European style hockey game.  There's not much in this game that is similar to the NHL.  Point system, promotion/relegation, etc.  The current World games use the same 3-2-1-0 point system.

The whole game has a more euro theme to it, like the relegation/promotion system. I assume it stems from the games creators not being North American.

I'm torn on the Tie vs. OT/shootout loss point debate.  I definitely miss the old (simple) standings of W-L-T.  I think it is a more accurate and fair reflection of team standings.  Part of me wants the NHL to revert back.

On the other hand, the fan experience should be taken into account.  In the 80s, almost 1 in 5 NHL games ended in a tie.  20%.  I've witnessed a few ties (live) and the feeling is unfulfilling.  When you spend good money to go see a game, having it end in a tie sucks.  Every competition should have a winner and loser.  Unfortunately for hockey, ties would be more common and are harder to prevent/break, given that scoring is rare as compared to other sports such as football, baseball & basketball.  You don't want regular season games going 2+ OTs, thus the need for shootouts.

The last thing I'd want is for regulation wins to count as 3 points as it would throw everything out of whack (in my own mind, at least).  It's a complex issue and the solution will never please everyone.

Time flies! So we have now decided to not release anything before Christmas. And even if I really don't like the "Fall2018" update being released in 2019, for obvious reasons, it's more realistic to aim for a release in the beginning of January. I also don't want to push it too hard and having to spend the whole Christmas fixing broken game worlds.

Still working hard with the release and I will have more info for you really soon.

There might be something to this.  My team was struggling in our first year in GHL and on a 6-game losing streak (one of the losses being against a team that is 1-29, that being their only win) THEN all of a sudden I somehow beat the team that recently 3-peated as GHL champ and arguably best team in the game world.

I suppose I still wouldn't call this ridiculous as it happens in real life sometimes, just a very odd-timed win.

Depends on goalie stamina ratings. My rule is 4 games maximum, 5 in emergency or playoff situations. Anything else is unrealistic and pretty rare.

    20+ games is uh....yeah.

I think it depends on your winning record combined with promotion success. I don't know a defined stat as to what that looks like but the more you promote the quicker you advance in manager profile. For instance, my Clapper team rose from the IHL pretty quickly so I got a quick bump in status. On the other hand, my Biscuit team took forever to get from the BHL to the SHL and while I had several successful seasons, it took me a lot longer to become "successful ".

I've seen a variety of line-up roll outs. Usually, at least in Lumber, 3-4 scoring lines are not uncommon in Lumber, or 2 scoring lines and 2 two-way lines. Rarely, if ever, do I see ever teams use energy or checking lines (although I use them often).

It's also the very nature of simulations to come across as random sometimes. Under normal conditions, I'd say any given team within a league has at least a 20% chance of winning any other team within that league on any given night. That percentage is an extreme example, and even that leaves quite a bit of room for upsets.

And the better (player quality) team wins more often than it loses. For that I've some stats derived from the Biscuit power rankings over the 5 full seasons it's been there. Bearing in mind the power rankings only take into account player overalls, and there is always much more at play.

    Between S10-S14:
67,5% of available playoff spots have been filled with top-8 teams.
    Regular season winners have been ranked: 1st, 1st, 1st, 10th, 2nd.
    Cup winners have been ranked: 1st, 7th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd.

The take is small, but it gives a hint as to that the materially best teams do prevail most of the time over a long enough time frame.

tldr, I think this game does a pretty good job when it comes to better teams winning games. There is always the random element that is present in sim games, as it should be.

I'm not sure I would say 'ridiculous', but sometimes the team that dominates in shots and possession does not win.  Sometimes.

I was originally going to agree with you here that it seems to happen more than it should, but after looking at my box scores and results, I don't show that to be the case.

To test it, I didn't use a strict formula, I just tried to get a general feel for the game.  I went into each box score and looked at the shots and possession, and used a combination of those to determine what team "should" have won.  For example, if Team A had 5 more shots and 10% more possessions, you can say they should have won.  Or if possession was somewhat even, but a team had 10 more shots, etc.

    My results:
    I went 9-2 in games I dominated.
I went 8-4 in games that were somewhat even.
I went 3-7 in games where my opponent dominated.

I suppose my only gripe here is that I should dominate a lot more than I do (and/or get dominated much less often)

FWIW-I'm new to the game, playing my first full season, in LIHL, after playing most of last season and finishing in a cluster of 6 thru 9.  Relevant to this topic, early on, before i really had my hands on the wheel, one of my goalies got injured, I believe, and an 18-year-old with OVR 52 was brought up, and shut out the top team in the league.  At the time, my lines were askew as far as role and tactics as well.  So, as some are saying, "Go Figure!"

As far as I know, the beta is going with its little glitches, which are being fixed along the way. The release date is still a mystery. Maybe Mr. Man can shed some light on that.

Overall the new version looks like a damn candy compared to the current one. Can't wait to have it out for everybody.

Just a suggestion:  With Christmas just around the corner, I have asked Santa for a $25 VISA gift card.  That'll take care of a year of GPHM at the grandfathered rate of $1.99/month...

My wife is from Kentucky, and I know for a fact you can find excellent burgers there. Much better than the McDonald's, excuse me for the lack of a better word but, crap. Just to be clear here, I have absolutely nothing against a tasty burger.

I used to worry about goalies-is 2-3 games enough? is 4 too many?  We're in Iron, and i have a 74 OVR who gets paid $150,000 and a 71 at $8,000, but the 71 is better in reflexes and athleticism.  So I just started alternating them, religiously.  The 74 has been leading the league in GAA and Save Pct, and the 71 is usually #3.  So there's that, the exact opposite of 10 games at a time...

    I've noticed that too....

Results are more random/silly in Lumber due to the high ratings inflation we have. What would be a competitive GHL team in Biscuit or what not is hardly a playoff contender in Lumber because the top teams are full of 93-99 overall players. It's rather silly and I can't wait for the fall update so the unrealistic ratings can come back down to Earth.
