Ramblers Team Awards Announced The New Haven Ramblers President Announced that the team was going to give out awards to Certain players for the following awards: The Most Valuable Player: Al Stanger Al Stanger provided solid Leadership and stingy defense the whole year round, and was consistently doing his job of blocking shots, mentoring young players, clearing the puck out of the zone, and doing what he's always done throughout his career with the Ramblers. Goalie of the Year: Dylan Deraspe and Malte Stalberg The Tandem of Deraspe and Stalberg were so good the Judges could not pick a clear cut winner so both will share the Award. Deraspe has put up many good years for the Ramblers, always coming in when the game mattered most. Deraspe was the Starting goalie playing 42 games gaining 29 of the teams 54 wins, posting a 2.49 GAA and .912 SV%. Stalberg was stable but lost time due to injury, Stalberg came to the Club after Demotion last year, he posted 2.21 GAA and .923 SV%. Their numbers show that it was a team effort. Best Forward: Al Laitinen Laitinen in his Rookie SHL season, Scored 34 Goals and Added 43 Assists, totaling 77 points. This Young man does seem to have a great future in Pro Hockey, he has played 52 games in the GHL in the Previous season, scoring 9 goals and 9 Assist for 18 points. This tremendous year he hopes will be the Jumping off point for a GHL Career. Laitinen is a small fellow standing 5'5 but he's got great offensive ability and has been said to have a great future according to Chief Scout Josh Vezeau. Rookie of the Year: Artie Lipponen Lipponen showed some promise playing well on the point on the power play, he managed to score 17 goals and added 22 Helpers as a Fourth Liner and Power Play Specialist. Lipponen has a fine future, but it'll take time for Lipponen to hit his full potential. Defenseman of the Year: Howie Hausmann and Al Stanger Hausmann's Production and Stanger's stalwart Defensive play were too good to pick a winner. Stanger's Leadership and Defensive Play made him one of the Anchors of Defense. Hausmann led the Team Offense from the blue line with 23 Goals and 42 for 65 Points. The Judges just could not decide between the two and they will share the Award. The Player's MVP: John Guerrier John Guerrier is an Tough old Veteran at 40, he is a stalwart on the Penalty Kill with Al Stanger, while keeping the back end secure on Howie Hausmann's patented rushes. Guerrier is always willing to drop the gloves to stick up for his teammates. Captain Al Stanger said of his teammate, "Johnny is tough as nails and a joy to play with, there was no better pick for MVP and I wish I could give my Award to him." That statement in itself says it all of why he was named by his teammates for this Award. Guerrier said, "It's a great honor, I'm happy I did my job, I wasn't seaking this award, I do believe Al Stanger was more Worthy." These Awards will be presented at the Team Banquet Next week. -

Ramblers to Honor #1 For Long Time Goalie Brady Daigneau For the first home game of the Coming Season, the Ramblers will Honor Goalie Brady Daigneau's Career as a Rambler, by honoring his number 1. Malte Stalberg is currently wearing Number one, however, whoever wears the number one sweater, will be presented by Daigneau with a sweater to symbolize the passing of the torch from one great to another. Daigneau was hired as a scout by the Ramblers. "It is an honor to be remembered, while I did have some struggles, I look back fondly on my career in New Haven. I sometimes wish I could start up again, but I like the idea of scouting the young goalies coming up." Coach Donaldson and GM Werner are out of New Haven on a large scouting trip and were not available for comment. -

Ramblers Scouting Team, GM, and Coach travelling all over North America It's been noted that the Ramblers GM Don Werner, Coach Walter Donaldson, and Chief Scout Josh Vezeau, have been going to various Junior teams, and scouting players. This may signify that the Ramblers are looking for youth. The Ramblers are an Older club, while younger players like Mazurek, Laitinen Bellini, and Nurminen are beginning to hit their stride, this trip could mean that the Ramblers are preparing for a big draft in the near future. More on this as the Story Unfolds. -

The New Haven Ramblers have yet again moved up the GHL, Setting Club Record highs in Wins, Points, Penalty Kill percentage, and Home Wins. They also set record lows for Losses and Home losses. The Future is unsure, they are a tough team that is a Mix of promising Youth and Old Grizzled Vets. Al Laitinen, Jim Nurminen, Dan McAnally, Artie Lipponen, Howie Mazurek, Ellis Wulff, Desi Cottard, and Marc Godbois all show particular promise. Mazurek, Laitinen, and Nurminen all have previous GHL experience with varying success. Mazurek and Nurminen caught fire quite well in their previous GHL experience, while neither of their point totals are staggering, they performed quite well. However, Laitinen while played well enough, he did not produce and just did not look good enough. The big questions that are being asked are about the Three Main Veterans on the Club, Stanger, Guerrier and Jorgenson. Will they retire during the off season, Stanger is regressing slowly, but defensively he is solid, but he is certainly slowing down and could be looking at the AAHL this coming season. Jorgenson is regressing slowly too, however Defensively he is better then ever, and Guerrier is still tough as ever and still defensively strong. Guerrier, Jorgenson, and Stanger are stalwart Penalty Killers, three of the best ever. The questions are whether they will be able to stick in GHL, they are really slowing down, luckily they tend to be paired with younger speedier players that compensate for their veteran counterparts. Coach Donaldson said; "I'm really unsure about this coming year, old Stanger is a hard guy to replace, a great Leader and one of my best defensive players. Guerrier is still a tough customer and a top defensive player and Jorgenson is a solid little guy who plays excellent defensive hockey and is great on the Penalty killer. Come training camp, they will each get their chance. Should none of these guys retire." New Haven's Goaltending still looks solid, with Dylan Deraspe and Malte Stalberg were solid during the Past season, while Stalberg has 7 games under his belt and did not do so well. Deraspe has 47 games under his belt and was quite good and solid in relief. Both are veterans, it is likely that the Ramblers will acquire someone to help with the load. The Ramblers have a good young prospect in Marc Godbois. Godbois has a promising future but needs some seasoning. The Ramblers are going to be interesting this season, will they be able to build to stick this year in the GHL? With proper signings, some hard work, and solid coaching, they could turn the corner and stick in the GHL. It will take some luck too, as long as the team stays healthy as well. This off-season will likely decide how the season will proceed. The Management will have to be smart, not being too loyal, but also not be reactionaries. They likely will not make the play offs the first year, you cannot always hit home runs, sometimes you have to make first base. In this case the Ramblers are trying to make first base, if they strike out it could be farewell to Coach Donaldson and General Manager Werner. -
I suggest instead of benching players for being in the blue, perhaps re-adjust their Ice-Time, such as moving a player on the PK First line down to the Second if they are not necessary. I tend to go with an 20 Man Roster. I highly recommend tailoring the Training to Goaltenders, if you have a Workhorse, take it easy on him, and his back up push him hard to stay in shape. With Defense I recommend going all Hard Defensive Training, to keep your Older guys sharp on the Defensive end of their game. Forwards you have to make the Distinction for yourself. Well I hope that helps.
-
Were those players tired? That could do it, although Age, could factor in, and also the simple odds that were scripted. I've had my share of Injury problems the odd thing is it will hit the younger players, it could be as Alex said The thing is it may depend on tactics or the amount of ice time you give, if a goalie is really tired in the red tired, I think they have a likelihood of getting injured easier.

The Ramblers Honor the Number of Retired Forward Mackenzie "Mac" Wagers before the game against the Becancour Kingsmen, Howie Mazurek was presented with the Number 8 sweater by Mac Wagers, to show the significance of the Number to be worn. Mac Wagers was touched by the gesture and gave a speech: "I gave a lot of my Career for the Ramblers organization, I retired after last season. I'm honored to give my number to Howie Mazurek, a future star with the Ramblers and hopefully for many years to come will carry my number as a Rambler for many years." Wagers played 265 games in GHL, While scoring 39 goals and adding 53 Assists, while those numbers aren't spectacular his defensive ability and spirit won him the Admiration of Teammates, Coaches, and Fans alike. In the SHL he Played 240 games, scoring 51 goals and adding 69 assists. He was a staple on the Ramblers Penalty Kill, while adding great corner work and grit to the team. Coach Donaldson said of Wagers, "Mac was an important part of the team while he only topped off at 21 goals in a season, he brought a lot more to the team in terms of Defensive ability, fighting spirit, and toughness. Mac now is coaching the New Haven Pegasus, but he will never be as good as I was during the past 3 seasons, because he won't be able to look down his bench and shout, 'Mac get out there!' I'll miss his penalty killing ability. Howie better wear his number with humility because he is wearing the Number of one of the finest players I've ever coached and he better live up to it!" Mazurek was given number 8 in training camp by Wagers, this ceremony was a public showing of it, and putting Wagers' number in the Rafters. The Ramblers have made it a practice not to retire numbers except in the case of career Ending Injuries. The Ramblers won the game 4-1, veteran Goalie Dylan Deraspe Stopped 25 out of 26 shots, to lead the Ramblers to Victory. -

Thank you! -
The New Haven Ramblers are a storied team, however this team returned under Don Werner, bringing along his old Pal Walter Donaldson as coach. The Town of New Haven has had teams since 1926. The team moved From Dalmeny where they were known as the Bad Apples to New Haven where they started out as the Whalers at the end of Season 3. Season 4 was an extremely successful year the Signings of New Captain Veteran Defenseman Assem Stanger, strong play from new defenseman Karel Rognon Fine work from veteran Center-turned-Right Winger Mackenzie Wagers, and the strong push by veteran goalie Dylan Deraspe, led to a second place finish and a promotion to the GHL. The Ramblers had a rough year in the GHL though they put up a good fight for twelfth but fell short, though it brought new regular faces, Defensemen Christian "Chris" Jorgenson and Yanick "Johnny" Guerrier, and Center Jayden-Dubois Quentin known to his teammate's as Jay. They finished 3rd the next year in the SHL, and won the playoffs on Deraspe's excellent goaltending, earning a second chance at the GHL. That second year started out well, with the Ramblers at 7th then top Scorer Houston "Howie" Mazurek went down with a severe injury knocking him off for 35 games, the team's offense sagged and they dropped to thirteenth place, they fought hard to get to twelfth, but they were a few points out. They had many Salary Problems, the Old reliables had aged, particularly Captain Assem Stanger, Jay Quentin, John Guerrier, and Chris Jorgenson. Though the team is aging in some parts, a new addition of Youth came into the Roster, namely Alpo "Al" Laitenen, Howie Mazurek, Urmas "Jim" Nurminen, Danick "Dan" McNally, Marcus "Marc" Godbois, and Aukusti "Artie" Lipponen seemed to be coming into their own. The future is uncertain for the Ramblers, they are an old team, with the Cracks starting to show but the Youngsters show great promise, and there are new Veterans starting to take shape in Roscoe Hartshorn, Matteo "Matt" Bellini, and Nathenial "Nate" Grieco. GM Werner Feel that the team needs to grow and let their youth take flight, with a promising future, The Era of Season 4-8 will be well remembered in Ramblers' fans memories.

I think about it often, I'm the coaching type Manager who is always thinking of strategies to improve my team and how I play my goalies and such. Sometimes I just check the scores if all is well I let it go a while especially when I'm busy in real life. I often check early in the Morning before work and in the evening after work. But when I go for a walk I'm often thinking about what I can do to improve my teams' goal output (a chronic problem as a defensive minded coach) or improving the power play. I do tend to visualize how the games play out especially if one of my goalies put up a terrific performance. As all of you have said it is a great release from real life, and gets the youthful imagination going. Sometimes I think about it too much but it's a lot of fun even when stressful.
-
True my salaries are more manageable, but sometimes I get a stiff the previous GM stuck me with. And 800 grand for a guy who is not really playing seems to be a waste to me.
-
I've had my share, you might put him on Waivers, or trade him, If you can get someone to pick him up, or you offer him for a minor leaguer. You might try shifting a role, like maybe taking him from a playmaker to a Two way forward or maybe a Powerforward, I'm not involved in attack so I got no Bias here. One of my guys in New Haven, (SHL club) is being paid 866 000 for three years and is a fourth liner. Not a happy situation, but I'm making use of him.
-
I really believe they do, one of my old defensemen Clovis Galloway was the perfect example (he was from the Old Game), Galloway was reputed as finished, when I signed him, by the End of his Career I think the "Finished" Galloway had developed from 75 overall to 77 overall, and at 39 he had at least one season left in him, in the SHL when the game ended, he never retired but at 39 he managed to stick around I tend to let player performance Judge who goes and who stays not how well rated they are. He was still good at the SHL level as he was at the BHL level didn't produce as many points but did very well as a Penalty Killer, If I could post his stats and Ratings I would.
-
I need to unload 4 defensemen, they are pretty good players, but they got one way deals and I'm set on my roster, I'm looking for Minor Leaguers, prospects and Picks, the guys range from 75-79 overall. Santiago Bernard, Artem Prudnikov, Keith Reynolds, and Sergey Tikhonov are the men I want to unload. GHL managers you could add some of them for your minor league Clubs and SHL Managers who need defensemen, these 4 could certainly Bolster your roster. Their Salaries for most part are not bad.
-
My team is a group of Veterans, my only young guys are 24, none of my Centers are under 30 (playing on the roster). I got young Goalies 28 and 24. I like my old guys (I'm the Punch Imlach Type), I don't think the age of old guys isn't over if I can help it.
-
I've got a team of Old guys, Only one player is under 30 and he's just hitting his prime at 27. My Oldest player will be 40 next Season and he went up an Overall Point. He refuses to die so I'm gonna let him play until his days come to an end. He's still a solid defender too hasn't had an Average year on my team, always surprising me with solid seasons. I don't know why I went with all the old guys but they've done me proud got me promoted and have brought me pretty good 8th and 9th place finishes. Well there might be a youth movement in Menahga some day, but it might have to wait a while.

Weird Standings
Walter A. Donaldson replied to Walter A. Donaldson's topic in Game Plan Hockey Manager 🏒
I'm an aficionado of old games, so I've always found a tie where two goalies sparkled and kept it 0-0 or 1-1, exciting. Like there are some games like in the 80's which was one of the less great eras in hockey. But in the 50's and the 60's, even the 70's, a tie could really be exciting. I'm just saying there are really no fans in this game that watch games, so why do we revert to ties instead of the weird point settings. -
Weird Standings
Walter A. Donaldson replied to Walter A. Donaldson's topic in Game Plan Hockey Manager 🏒
Well keeping Records from the great teams of the past is important. I don't know of any team coming close to 7 straight 1st place Finishes, or 5 straight Stanley cups in the near future. I honestly wish we just kept ties, I mean once you've battled out 60 minutes and there is no score each team splits the win. -
Weird Standings
Walter A. Donaldson replied to Walter A. Donaldson's topic in Game Plan Hockey Manager 🏒
That is kind of weird isn't it, why should the rules be different then the NHL. In the NHL it's 2 points whether it is regulation or Overtime. -
I've got a 14-3-1-3 record, and a team who has more regulation wins but adding up the wins together we have identical record, I've got 17-3-1, they've got 17-3-1. How the heck does this happen, with identical records, I have 49 points and they have 51??????????? Please explain this.
