  2. Franchise Hockey Manager 3 is now available worldwide, so we thought we’d take it for a spin and highlight the major features that armchair hockey GMs have been anticipating the most. Like OOTP Developments’ other games, FHM 3 offers a deep, authentic experience that you can explore any way you want, from a day-to-day, nuts-and-bolts […] View the full article
  3. Football Manager 2017 (FM17) is out now and as comprehensive as ever with over 2,500 real clubs to manage across 140 leagues, and more than 500,000 real footballers and staff to sign. FM17 is available on Mac, PC and Linux. System requirements can be found on Steam. What’s new in Football Manager 2017? Here are some of the changes. Brexit simulation The developers have opted to introduce the effects of UK leaving the EU. Since the kind of Brexit – “soft” that allows free movement of labour, or “hard” that has tough work permit regulations – that will actually happen is yet unknown, FM17 randomizes it for each player. Expect it to impact your game whether your club is in the UK or not. Enhanced match engine SEGA claims an improved 3D match engine, bolstered by the addition of thousands of motion-captured animations, better looking stadiums and improved AI. News feed, and social Feed Changes to your inbox mean the news will be geared towards happenings in your club, and include more detail and staff advice than before. The all-new social feed, on the other hand, will contain the responses and opinions of the media and fans, who’ll let you know at every moment what you’re not doing right. Facial scanning You can now scan your own face and have it rendered as part of your manager’s avatar in FM17, thanks to Singular Inversions’ FaceGen technology. If you’ve ever used this feature in other games, you know what to expect. Conversations with future signings FM17 allows you to enter pre-contract offer talks, which is basically a chance to market your club, and convince players and their agents that this move is the right fit for them. A quicker start Sports Interactive wants to help players get into the game quicker, and it’s created “Optimal Quick Start” just for that purpose – the feature lets you pick your team before the game even loads, while providing you recommendations on the number of leagues, size of the database and expected performance based on your computer’s specifications. Other changes Introduction of a single-player option in Fantasy Draft, the game’s multiplayer mode. Sports Interactive is also adding Data Analysts, and Sports Scientists to FM17 – in a bid to reflect the technology-driven nature of today’s sporting world. Rounding up the improvements are new player traits, so if they are unhappy about something at the club expect to hear about it as their manager. The post Football Manager 2017 is out now. 4. We’re back with another developer diary for Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2017. If you missed our first dev diary we took a look at some of the new in-season features for career play now. Also don’t forget our special pre-order offer is about to come to an end with the release of the game just days away on November 7th! In this edition of the developer diary we’re going to take a look at some at the higher-level features that are new and improved for DDS: Pro Basketball 2017. MATCHUP MAKER How many times have you and your buddies had a friendly discussion (or loud smack talking argument) over who was better? All of last season hoops fans went back and forth over whether 2015-16 Golden State was better than 1995-96 Chicago. Had Golden State finished the job in the finals that argument would be going strong today but haven’t you ever wanted a way to settle these what-ifs? We’ve provided Matchup Maker to handle that task! Matchup Maker is a special add-on feature to the game this year. Sure it has nothing to do with taking your favorite team to the championship but it’s an awesome way for basketball junkies to live out some of their dream matchups. How would Magic match-up against LeBron? Prime Jordan vs. Prime Kobe? You can take any team from 1976 on to play in fantasy exhibition games and settle the score. Who would have won this dream matchup? HISTORICAL REPLAY Last season we introduced historical replay by giving you the chance to start in 1976 and play forward from there. This year we’ve gone all out giving you the opportunity to start as any team at any point in time since 1976. Jump right into the Boston vs LA heyday or see if you can derail Chicago’s dominance. Go back to when you feel your favorite team could have turned the fortunes of the franchise around and see if you can get the job done! Boston v LA in 1986 But we didn’t stop there. The idea of Matchup Maker got us to thinking “how cool would it be to play out a career with some of those marquee matchups” so we added a feature you can turn on and off to randomize future draft classes. Imagine if the 2003 class followed the 1984 class? With the random draft class option it could happen in your replay career. Talk about a golden age of hoops! Imagine this class joining the league in 1987! SOMETHING FOR FUN We didn’t share all the new features yet though and here’s your first look at one of the fun surprises to be found in DDS: Pro Basketball 2017. How many times have you been coaching a game and the game is on the line and the timeout options just left you wanting a little bit more control? Well we have your answer. DDS: Pro Basketball 2017 is giving you the option to take over the whiteboard in the huddle by letting YOU draw up the game winner. That’s right – if you’re coaching out your games we’re giving you the option to setup your own plays coming out of timeouts to try and get exactly the look you want with the player you want in the location you want it. Of course plays never work out 100% of the time and they still won’t here but it sure will be fun putting the power to draw up a game winner in your hands. Draw up a great play out of a timeout Well that’s going to do it for this developer diary – release is just days away now. Hoops nirvana awaits – time to answer the call with Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2017. The post DDS: Pro Basketball 2017 Dev Diary #2 – Outside the Season appeared first on Wolverine Studios. 5. FHM 3 is now available for download. We are including details from the OOTP developments Press Release. General Manager (GM) Games intends to have a review as soon as possible. In the meantime, have a read on the new features with some slight alterations on the adjectives used by OOTP marketing. OOTP Developments today announced that Franchise Hockey Manager 3 has shipped and is officially licensed by the National Hockey League (NHL) for the first time in FHM’s history. The NHL license allows all teams in the game to have real logos and uniforms for an authentic hockey experience and removes the need for player and jersey mods. FHM 3 includes some of the following features these features:Officially licensed by the NHL. Teams will have their real logos, insignias, and uniforms along with the Stanley Cup Championship and post-season awards. New Career Mode: Path to glory: A streamlined and more approachable way to play, with improved game and information flow as well as news from around the world that impacts your experience. Generate your General Manager/Coach, assign your skills as you wish, start low and work your way up – or take the helm of your favorite team and take it to the Stanley Cup Championship. New Role-Based Tactical System: Allows the coach to choose from a variety of pre-set tactics to build their team’s “system” and then assign players specific roles that fit into that system. Rebuilt Injury System – Injuries are now generated directly from in-game events and correspond to specific activities – fights will break noses more than they will sprain ankles. Players are now rated for durability in different parts of their bodies, and serious injuries in one place can leave them more vulnerable to more injuries of the same type later in their career. Updated Development Process – Player development has received some significant changes, introducing more variability and making player evaluation much more uncertain. Updated Interface – The FHM 2 interface has been refined even further to make playing the game easier than ever. Star ratings have been rescaled so there’s much more diversity within leaguesMore logical penalty callingA new game rating system that adds offensive and defensive game scoresLeagues now have a functioning central scouting organization that you can use to guide your own scouting and draftingA more detailed coaching modelImproved AI throughout the game, for example trade AI, roster AI, in-game AI, contract AI and so on, resulting in a more challenging game play. The post It’s out. 7. During last year’s playoffs we introduced a blog series titled “We Simmed It” where we took Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2016 and simmed out the eastern and western conference finals and the championship series as well. DDS:PB 2016 nailed both the ECF and WCF results perfectly and if it hadn’t been for an untimely suspension would have probably gotten the finals right on as well. We decided that on the eve of a new basketball season we would put the latest beta version of Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2017 to the test for a 2016-17 basketball season preview. Now first, some parameters under which this test was run. We started with rosters as of 10/23/16 including players starting the season injured with estimated injury time frames (aka Philly gets Simmons back for half the year) and we used a new feature in the game to prevent any further injuries so that the season did not get derailed by a fluke injury. So with that said here we go… LEAGUE CHAMPS : GOLDEN STATE def INDIANA To the surprise of nobody DDS:PB 2017 is picking Golden State to win it all in boring fashion. In fact it predicted a 4-0 sweep over Minnesota in round 1, a 4-0 sweep of OKC in round 2 (wouldn’t that be a juicy matchup), 4-1 over Blake and LA in the WCF and another 4-0 sweep over Indy to win it all. Indy’s road goes through Philly (yes PHILLY), Atlanta and Cleveland to get mopped up in the finals. DIVISION WINNERS AND PLAYOFF TEAMS DDS:PB 17 is going with Boston (59-23), Indiana (58-24) and Atlanta (48-34) in the East and Golden State (a whopping 78-4), San Antonio (62-20) and OKC (51-31) to win divisions in the West. Other East playoff teams : Cleveland, Orlando, Charlotte, Philly, Chicago (the East is a hot mess really). Rounding out the playoffs out West is LA, Sacramento (we can’t sim organizational dysfunction), Houston, Portland and Minnesota (boy are they going to be fun to watch this year) SCORING LEADERS Because people like this stat – no surprise Harden in D’Antoni’s offense could score a bunch INTERESTING QUESTIONS We had a few interesting questions we wanted answers to for the upcoming season. Take a look. QUESTION #1 : What does a spurned Westbrook look like? Westbrook looks basically like he did anytime Durant missed time. Our sim shows him dropping 40 or more 11 times out of 82 games. The crazy thing is that number might actually be low! QUESTION #2 : Assuming he’s allowed to play, what does Simmons do for Philly? One of the most interesting results of the sim was that Philly made the playoffs (albeit with a losing record, again the sim feels the East is horrible). In the games without Simmons, Philly went 12-21 while going 27-22 with him available. With Saric, Embiid and Simmons in the fold Philly actually has basketball talent. Been a long time since those words were spoken. QUESTION #3 : How does it shake out in Golden State? Well aside from going 78-4 in the sim basically this is what we’re looking at. Total domination. Draymond less of a facilitator on offense, Klay getting alot fewer shots, Steph and KD both getting fewer shots than last season as well but the most interesting number there is Durant shooting 41% from three. Durant is a career 38% shooter from downtown but playing with this squad he’s clearly going to get more wide open looks or even more single coverage QUESTION #5 : Misc odds and ends Does the super team land anyone on all-league 1st team? No – not going strictly on stats anyways which is how the game does the awards. DDS:PB 2017 awards the first team all-league to Westbrook, Harden, James, Anthony Davis (remember we turned off injuries) and Cousins. Brandon Ingram takes home ROY Dallas wins the lottery while paying Barnes 90+ million for 13.5 PPG Chicago shoots 45% from the floor as a team – who says Rondo, Wade and Butler would cause floor spacing issues? Biggest disappointment in the sim – Toronto. Lowry and DeRozan put up PPG but nobody else really does. We doubt Toronto could miss the playoffs in the East but maybe this exposes their need for more scoring and to make a move during the season to get it. Least surprising item – Houston. DDS:PB 2017 predicts Houston will give up 111.9 PPG while Harden wins the scoring title. Last year Philly and Sacramento were the bottom of the pack at 107.6 and 109.1 respectively. Harden and D’Antoni…it’s a match if there ever was one. Well that will do it for this edition of We Simmed It – now we just need to sit back and watch it all play out for real. Don’t forget to check out our trailer announcement of DDS: Pro Basketball 2017, our first developer diary showing off some of the new improvements and to keep your eyes open for our pre-order announcement coming very soon! 8. A new basketball season is right around the corner and so is the latest version of our highly acclaimed pro basketball sim Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball 2017. We brought you a few developer diaries with the last version of the game and we’re going to be once again highlighting some of the new features for this year’s game. We’re kicking off the dev diary series with a look at some of the best new stuff you will find while playing out a season. Additional diaries will highlight the all new Matchup Maker feature as well as the expanded historical play. If you missed our announcement about the game and trailer video you can view it here. SCOUTING One of the most exciting parts of the game is of course the college draft. We’ve added additional running draft commentary again this year but the biggest addition comes in your pre-draft work options. We’ve added 12 scouting regions across the United States and the rest of the world for you to assign your scouting staff to. In order to get anything but the very basic information prior to workouts you’re going to need to commit some resources around the globe. Depending on the amount of resources you commit to an area you also may get additional emails during the year from your scout staff on a player they were impressed with. Review your emails prior to the draft workouts or use the in game notepad to keep your own notes on players you may want to target thanks to the heads up from your scouting staff. LINEUP TRACKING Every general manager today craves as much data as possible whether its advanced stats (we have those) or cameras in the arena to track how fast players move from spot to spot (that’s not a feature…yet anyway) – the bottom line is information is king and we aim to bring you as much as possible to make your decisions. Introducing lineup tracking – a new feature to the series this year. Lineup tracking will keep track of every single lineup combination you put out on the floor and allows you to analyze how each lineup is doing. The biggest strength of this new feature is that it gives you one more tool to understand your team. Maybe you find a certain combination of players that seems to perform well together and you adjust your lineup matrix to get them more minutes together. Maybe you see that an offensive superstar is actually a negative to your team unless he’s playing with defensive-minded players. You might learn that the team winning games because a player was injured wasn’t just a fluke but that there’s real statistical data to back up that he’s a better fit. The possibilities of what you can learn and then also tinker with because of the data are endless. MENU IMPROVEMENTS We have always made it a priority to give you an interface that made you forget you were playing a text-sim game so for this year we’re building off of last year’s UI overhaul and added a few touches here and there to make it even better. The most noticeable is the team menu bar across the top of the screen. Now changing screens from team to team is a simple click away instead of having to scroll to a drop box and scroll for the team you want. We also realize that with the additional coverage the game received last year that we brought many new players into the fold and that jumping into the game might have been a little overwhelming or that things took some getting used to. That’s why we’ve started an in-game FAQ section to provide some tips to new players as well as serve as quick reminders for our grizzled vets. PLAYER PERSONALITY IMPROVEMENTS Player personalities are a big part of the game (if you choose – you can still turn off this feature if you like). Nothing is worse than finally thinking you have it all together on paper to win a championship only to be derailed by some personality conflicts on the team or even by a moody player in general who has decided he’s not giving his best effort. We’ve made strides this year to limit the number of incidents you are presented with while increasing the importance of handling a situation. We’ve also added additional feedback this year so that when you’re answering questions from the media about a player or reviewing an incident report that you get a better understanding of just exactly what the impacts were of the actions that happened. NEW GAME OPTIONS Injuries are also one of those things in life that can derail a contender and we know that sometimes not everyone likes things to really be as realistic as they are so we’ve decided to give the control to you this season with our new injury factor. Want a league where everyone can play without fear of injury? Go for it. Want to see how much fun it would be for the injury report to be an injury novel? Crank it up. We’re leaving the choice up to you for each league you start. We’ve also added some new options when creating your league. If you’re going to start with the 2016-17 rosters you’ll have the option of starting with players actually being injured as they are going into opening night or reset the league for everyone to be healthy (we’re looking at you Philly fans). We even are offering the chance to start with a blank historical slate so that your favorite franchise isn’t dogged with years of championship envy. Thank you for taking a look at our initial developer diary – be sure to watch in the coming days for future developer diaries as well as information on the release and pre-order specials. 14. Hi everyone! It's been a long while since I posted here, almost hard to believe the 2016 season is almost over. In recent years, I have been able to upload final stats within 24-48 hours of the season's conclusion. This year is going to be a little different. I will be traveling the week the season concludes, enjoying New York City, so it's likely stats won't be up until the end of the week.In addition, I have created a new import process that might take longer to complete, but should result in almost no errors and cleanup required after the fact. In the past, people would catch issues long after the stats were imported since the process was flawed. I usually reserved several weeks of review time before starting new Auto Leagues. By taking some extra time, it may take a couple days longer to get the data in, but it should be rock solid once it's done, and that would mean Auto Leagues could start much sooner. This year will be a test and if it works better, I will use this process for future years. That would possibly mean stats would take a couple days to get in rather than be available the very next day. Thanks for your patience! View the full article

BUG FIXES: - We have fixed an issue in Direct Transfer that occurred when Managers tried to *make an offer* for a player (they were receiving a message wrongly stating that they need to have 14 signed players or more to be able to sell or sack them). *Managers who play Top Eleven on the Flash Player version of the game (“Top Eleven 2015”) won’t see any changes in the League screen and competition rules. However there is no reason to worry: These Managers will be able to participate in this new competition watch these matches. 20. Hitting the recruiting trail and working out training strategies are key to getting wins for your school but when it comes down to it the biggest thing of all is gameday and in Draft Day Sports: College Football 2017 you’re in control of your team’s fate – the coaching is up to you! In today’s blog we’re going to take a quick look at the coaching options. As before these screens are from the beta so they are a work in process but they will give you an idea what you can look forward to very shortly. Lets take a look at some things you will notice different from DDS:PF when it comes to this area. The first thing you’ll notice is the field is now full screen letting you see action from end to end without scrolling. One of the best features of DDS: College Football 2017 is the ability to see the action for yourself. You’ll be screaming GO GO GO at your running back as he moves through the pile of players and starts to break off a big run. Who says a text sim isn’t exciting? Even better is that developer Brooks Piggott has been hard at work adding additional animations to make an even more complete game experience. Seeing your genius play out is awesome but it starts with a great play call. DDS: College Football 2017 gives you tons of options on both side of the football. You have the ability to narrow plays down so that you’re not scrolling through every play to find a winner and you even have the ability to create your own playbooks tailored exactly to the strengths of your team. Check out a look below at the offensive and defensive options. Once you’ve gotten a good look feel free to head to our forums and get in on the discussion. It won’t be long before you’re taking over at your favorite school now that college football season is officially here! 22. Wayne Thompson: Online Leagues Are His Passion “Normally when I played baseball video games, I would spend more time trying to manage the team and set up the rosters [than playing the game],” says Wayne Thompson, who has been a fan of Out of the Park Baseball since version 5, which was released 12 […] View the full article
  23. Take A First Look At Draft Day Sports: College Football 2017 College football season is right around the corner and we know our fans are hungry for a new college football sim! Today we’re happy to share some of the details of a work-in-process screen so we can talk about the user interface. The first thing you will notice is that if you played DDS: Pro Football 2016 this game has been migrated totally now to the official “draft day sports interface”. If you are familiar with our basketball titles you will feel right at home navigating here and our football only fans will have no trouble either as all of the options still exist but are broken out into easier to find pieces. This screenshot is making use of a large screen resolution and you will notice the empty areas where side and bottom menus appear in the basketball games. Those menus will exist as well providing you with a ton of useful and pertinent information at-a-glance giving you much more info without the need to click around. Still using a lower resolution monitor? Don’t worry – all of the info will be available to you just with an extra click or two to get there. One of the biggest changes to the UI is the team menu laid across the top menu. Now when you visit a team page such as the team roster and would like to click to view another team you no longer have to either do so from a navigation tree or from a drop box to scroll through to find the team. Simply click the team logo you want and there you go! Not only does it look great seeing all the logos but its a big time saver too! And for fans of the basketball games – you’ll see this in the next version of those as well! The screen we’ve shown here is the Association Media screen. As you can see there’s information on the Top 25 teams as well as a wealth of info on who’s been performing very well, the favorites for the annual awards, a newspaper and a highlight reel show so that you can watch the best plays from the week or season play out in front of you time and again! As we said, this screen is a work in process but we wanted to share an initial taste of what you can expect in Draft Day Sports: College Football 2017. As our testing moves into its final phase we will be showing more and more of the game off and talking about some of its features. If you have something you are particularly interested in make sure you let us know on our Facebook or Twitter outlets. Until next time – happy tailgating and get ready for your college football Saturdays to take on brand new life this fall! 24. When we simmed the 2016 Major League Baseball season to give a glimpse into what this year might hold, we had the Cleveland Indians down the Washington Nationals in a seven-game World Series that saw Corey Kluber win a 1-0 Game 7 against Stephen Strasburg. Could that still happen? Sure, anything is possible, but […] View the full article
