MattBerserkers got a reaction from Wendel Clark in prospects trade status
We should be able to set the trade status of prospects just like we can with players. I think that its especially needed for AI teams because whenever an AI GHL team gets lucky and drafts an amazing player, human managers manage to acquire the prospect in a trade before he can be signed. The trade I just noticed went through that prompted this suggestion would have been autodeclined almost immediately were it sent to a human. I'm not going to call the person out, but the trade was a 35 year old player on an expiring deal + a ghl 1st from a team that just finished in a high spot+ 2 pieces that will never be GHL pieces for a freshly drafted 90 overall prospect. There also weren't many good free agents this season so that 18 year old prospect was the only real asset that the AI had. IMO, just like the AI getting improvements so that they had young stars to their "untouchables", fresh, good prospects should get that same status.

Also, AI should make more signings sooner and immediately sign any star prospects. The AI hasn't done major team building and its almost day 3. The AI already looks like a guaranteed to be relegating team.

However I haven't really heard your situation brought up before even though it's definitely weird considering that you want to send him to the same league that he was just in. Maybe a solution would be players to keep the lowest league affiliates that they can play for constant and to have it as a notification on the players transfer page. Similar weirdness would happen for a player with a one-way being traded up and then being put on an affiliate. Maybe if a guy gets sent up, any new higher division affiliates that a team has is allowed to take the player. Any affiliates that the player couldn't play in before due to his contract stay locked.

Wow, I'm surprised that nobody has answered this, training is a little bit vague.

From my experience offensive training improves skills such as shooting, passing, etc, defensive training improves defence, checking, etc and general training improves skills such as endurance and skating. I've also found (although it may be my imagination) is that if you set a player's role and/or line role to something, the player will improve in that role a bit faster. Ex: two-ways forwards will improve their defence a bit faster than other skills.

I think the lack of response here is that no one really knows for sure (except for Anders).  When in doubt, test it out!

That being said, I ran various tests on training a few seasons ago.  I tracked development for 20 different players by measuring the progress bars every 10 days for an entire season.  Every 10 days, I would change something whether it be the Intensity (Hard, Normal, Easy), the Player Role (Sniper, Two Way, etc.), and the Focus (Off, Def, Gen).  I tried to test every combination of Intensity/Role/Focus.  My results were inconclusive in that it didn't really notice much difference in progress when I changed the variables.  Other than the fact that the bars went up faster when the Intensity was Harder (this one is obvious).  But the Player Roles and Focus didn't seem to have a huge impact to draw a solid conclusion.  Perhaps the 10 day periods were too short to notice anything drastic and that results are only noticeable longer term.  Also perhaps there is a time delay on the change, like when you change your tactics, you won't start to see a noticeable difference until 5-10 days after making the chance.  So that could have confused my results.

The only things I know for sure are:
    1) The Harder the Intensity, the more a player will progress (obviously).
    2) Players typically progress faster when they are younger (typically).
    3) Team tactics seem to play a role (i.e. Puck Possession will develop Pass/Puck faster).
    4) Offensive attributes progress earlier in career, defensive later (Anders mentioned this somewhere).

As for training Skating specifically.  I would assume set the training to Hard & General.  And it will also help if your Off Tactic is Dump&Chase or Transition - and your Def Tactic is Forecheck or Spread (but I wouldn't change a tactic for training purposes).

Well we're past day 50. The initial wave of players that are looking for a contract would be well over by day 5. Then gradually as the season progresses players are more open to signing with lower league teams and injury signings take up the rest.

No bug, just to late in the season. Also a helpful tip, try not to sign anyone after day 40 as when you bring a new player in they only have 'ok' confidence which hurts your overall team confidence which is never ideal, especially as you're building towards the playoffs.

Wondering if it's possible to move the REPLY button when messaging between managers to the top of the page.  Currently it sits at the bottom of the page.  There are a handful of other managers who I message with sometimes multiple times per day.  Once you are 6-7 messages deep, you find yourself scrolling down the page through all the messages before you can reply... and if you are using your phone, sometimes you can't even get to the reply button.  I feel like moving the button to the top of the page would make it just a bit more user friendly.  Just a thought.

I just traded for a player in the league above me BHL.  When I traded for the player he was in the BHL team's AAHL2 League.  When the trade went through he was on my IHL team  with a one way contract. So now I can't send him down.   This has now happened to me 2 times.  Is this a bug?  Because if he has a one way contract ( he did not) he should not have traded down to my league.  He now shows a one way contract.

Hi, there could be option to write message while rejecting trade offer. Or there should be more options. The answers when you're rejecting offer are so banal, too general and you have just few choices. It'll give us little bit more chance to continue with negotiation. And It's easier than write personal message.

Picked at this for a couple of seasons but never made a post. I find it a little unnecessary that if you win the first two games of a playoff series you still need to play a third. You're players aren't allowed to rest and it runs the risk of having stars injured in a meaningless game.

Anyone else not a fan of this or am I just nitpicking ?

Also a rule of thumb I always try to stick to. Making sure you don't miss on your first round pick is far more important than hitting on your second or third. Too much value is lost by not getting the best possible talent with your first rounder.

I suggest that game should have search agent which send you a message if player maching your filters is set to waivers, released or set to tradeblock. Otherwise assist could inform manager if interested player listed to waivers. This way we get probably more traffic for waived players.

Oh man… I think I just experienced the worst of all statistics which lead my team to relegation . After defeating the outlaws 6 to 1 in the first game, game two and three just look absurd. During game 2 and 3 we outshot their team and during the 6-1 victory we were outshot.. In fact, in game 2 they only put up 15 shots between the last two periods. It doesn't help that my top rated Defenseman got injured during Game 2 but when you look at the team overall ranking in PP and PK it makes me scratch my head how game 3 ended. The end of season stats has our team at #9 in PP and #1 in PK.

Game 3 started with us going up 2-0 but then by the second finding ourselves all tied up. We take the lead, 3-2, in the 3rd but what follows is strange. We hadn't let the Outlaws score a single PP goal in the previous two games and I can't remember the last time my PP has let in a SHG (in the regular season). They get a PP goal to tie it up and then get a SHG to win the series...seriously?

Add salary to trade negotiations. Assuming that you can only loan players without a 1-way clause, salary would be minimally affected.

One option would be to let the lower league team take on the entire salary, i.e. an entry level deal, or a bridge contract. (Of course, the salary would be lowered as it always is if you go down a league) Another option would be to let the salary be split. Ex. Contract is worth $100,000. GHL team pays $75,000, SHL team pays $25,000. This is in case there are cap issues with the loan. A third option would be to let the higher league team keep their salary, and essentially loan the player for free. So the SHL level team pays $0 salary to the player. Or all three of the above options? I had previously suggested this a looong time ago. This would certainly be a feature that may convince me to play this game again. This feature would also encourage human-human interaction a lot (cause I know this forum loves that). This could also make or break a manager's reputation within the world. Should I loan to this manager again? Will it be worthwhile? Will this manager rot my prospect on the bench?

If loan's did come out, it would be interesting to see one manager that solely develops prospects for other teams, that takes a whole bunch of players on loan and gives them 20 minutes a night or hard training with pp and pk time. Think of the CHL, or if you get my soccer reference, Ajax. I'd definitely be on board with that.

Yes, your situation will be the same once the season starts. Your only way out if you want to make any moves is to shed the 2m in a trade (might take a while to find a willing trade partner) or to lose some salary by releasing players. Honestly though, most teams I see this happen to end up keeping their team throughout the season and often earn back promotion as their players are that much better than everybody else - that said, I've also watched some spectacular relegations for other teams in the same situation.

Also, this should be in questions.

I choose the one who slightly better evolves.
I feel like the gamestats depend on the role they play, the pairing and the line.

There has been some discussion about this topic in the chat box here and figured it may be a good subject to hash out a bit more. The idea is to try and better engage the community. I really enjoy the chat box in top of the page here and think it would be great to see it in a similar format that sits on top of the browser rather than in the manager tabs. I know there were other ideas discussed as well so please throw those in here too.
