Maybe make something similar to the Olympics with this game and have an international tournament every few seasons.

The tournament would have 12 teams divided into 3 groups of 4, such as this.

    Group A
    Canada
    Czech Republic
    Germany
    Austria

    Group B
    Sweden
    Finland
    Russia
    USA

    Group C
    Slovakia
    Switzerland
    Norway
    Italy

I know the groups aren't balanced but I'm just trying to get my point across.

There could be an automatic qualifier to the tournament so the best players are showcased since there are so many small hockey nations in GPHM (Italy, Norway, Austria, France, UK, Denmark, Slovenia, etc.) By this I mean the countries are ranked in terms of combined player overall and the top overall nations get to participate.

Whereas the best nations automatically get a spot in the tournament (Canada, Sweden, Russia, USA, Finland, etc). Sort of like coefficients in soccer/association football.

This would offer managers a break during a certain point in the season to regroup and make trades/signings (depending on league position), and it would be interesting to see how your players play against the best.

Maybe players would be able to manage international teams?

    What do you guys think?

It would be cool if there was a way for you to talk to your players and/or for your players to talk to you.

For example, you have a bad team close to relegation and your star player, though he has 1st line, power play, and maybe penalty kill minutes is simply frustrated because even though these are his stats:

    GP 46
    G 21
    A 34
    P 55
    PER 76
    +/- 4

His team can't win games and is in a relegation playoff place on a 4 game loss streak.

He might request to you (via the message system) to be traded, or if he is loyal, ask you politely to improve the team and say he is not very happy, or something along these lines.

But here is the good part:

You can respond to your players with maybe 3 or 4 statements, and they could improve your player's confidence level, increase loyalty, make them withdraw their trade request, make them want a trade, decrease player confidence, loyalty, etc.

    For example:

John Doe, a star player and first liner on your team says,

"Boss, I've come to you today to discuss the team's current form."

"This loss streak is very disheartening and I really want to win." Your player is sad with the team's form.

"I would love to be part of this organization for years to come and as a leader on the playing squad, I think we need a reshuffle." This implies that he is frustrated with his teammates and may want some better line mates or teammates.

    And you can respond saying:

    a. I'm sorry you feel like that, but I've actually been looking at a few players to acquire to improve the squad!
    b. As one of my star players, I know you must be frustrated, but I regret to inform you that I've placed you on the trade block.
    c. I appreciate the opinion John, but I'm happy with the squad right now and I know you can really up your game and be the star I know you are.

And depending on John Doe's personality traits, he would be affected.

Let me know what you guys think, and try to expand on my thought, because it seems a bit broad right now.

You can try, but often these players will ONLY be happy if they move to a higher league team.  If you are about to be promoted, wait it out.  If not, good candidate for trading up a league.

Is there a reason we can't see the game history for each player for more than 5 games?  I often find myself wanting to to see 10 or 20 games back to see streaks my players have been on so I can adjust my roster, tactics, etc based on what seems to have worked in the past.  I know I can go into each individual game but usually I am only looking on that info for one or two players.  Five also is a very small sample size, especially if it a player that is in and out of the lineup.

In my league I have two prospects on my shortlist that I want to trade for.

It would be cool if in the action tab you could compare two or more players, specifically their traits, ratings, stats, and development chart.

That way I would be able to choose easily between the two said players and make a good trade.

I assume a comparison screen would work in other situations such as comparing players on your team to see which ones you should trade.

Let me know if this is in the game already because I think this would be very helpful.

IneffableLeafs reacted to Vincent C in Confidence level indicator
    Hi all,

I'd also like to suggest a "confidence level indictor" or however you want to call it.
A simple clue on whether the confidence of your player is on the rise, lowering or stays the same.
That way you can see whether line movements, training, contracts, roles etc have an effect on what you do.
I feel like currently I'm blind on a lot of elements of this game. This way if I am away for a day or two, I can see whether my change had the intended effect, without my having to memorise everything.

As stated in another topic, it is nice to know the effect of confidence on performance as well. And for that matter the effect of performance on game-outcome (and stats). This also holds up for fatigue.

    Thanks!

One-way contract only means that a player will never move down league levels. I.E. you can't trade them to a lower league, or should you get relegated, they would be released.

Promotion clause (quote from help files):

"A *promotion contract* clause will increase the player’s salary if his team is promoted to a higher league. The new salary is calculated so that the player will keep the same percentage salary cap impact. E.g. if the player’s salary was 10% of the cap limit in the previous league his new salary will be 10% of the new league’s salary cap. If a player with a *promotion contract clause* is traded to a team in a higher league level the contract clause will activate just as if his team hade been promoted. Once the *promotion contract clause* have been activated it will be removed from the player’s contract."  Hope that answers everything.

Correct me if this is already in the game, but I think it would be cool if GHL and SHL teams would be able to loan their unsigned prospects to the BHL, IHL, and LIHL.

For example, a GHL team drafts a prospect overall 73 who is useless for the time being. European teams would still be able to sign them, but they would come in handy for BHL depth options, IHL top 6 FWD/top 4 D/starting goalie, and LIHL star player roles.

It would benefit both the top teams and the lower teams because it will help the lower teams get promotion, while the higher level teams can give the prospects valuable experience. I know the European teams also give prospects experience, but both lower league teams and top teams would love this idea because:

    Benefits
Lower teams (BHL and lower) will be able to get good players for little sums of salary. Top teams (SHL and higher) will have their prospects play much more games than European teams play (Europe: 30 games, Competition, 60 games) which would lead to better development of stats as well as monster seasons. Loanee Contract Clauses (Just ideas)
Player is paid either entry level salary for the league he is entering, or a higher salary based on a decent player's salary in the respective league. The player will either optionally or immediately return to his old club if his happiness reaches uncomfortable or anxious. If the prospect is in the position to contend, he will not be able to be recalled, and could be locked to the lineup for playoff experience. The player must play a required amount of games, or the team taking the player for loan will suffer a cap penalty or forfeit a draft pick to the team loaning the prospect out. This will ensure that this method of developing prospects is fair as well as a better developing method than letting European teams sign top prospects. Other Useful Information

The option to loan would be from the beginning of silly season to the last day of preseason. The player has the option of accepting the loan contract or declining it when offered.
Note: All bold and italicized words indicate the developer could change these to his liking.

IneffableLeafs got a reaction from TheWeekKnights in Player Loyalty
I think adding player loyalty would be a good addition to the game because good players that you draft can become your franchise cornerstones, sign for less money, and ultimately lead your team to the Golden Cup, promotion, etc.

For example, you draft or trade for a prospect lets say at 55 overall. The player in 5 seasons grows into a 79 rated player (hidden gem) and you are in the LIHL, IHL, BHL level. His happiness is not very high and his status is "Wants to move to a bigger club". After being at the club for 3-5 seasons, he departs for a SHL team for huge dollars. Very frustrating that they feed on smaller leagues like that.

But, in the player's list of traits, you could add a loyalty section that for example is:

    Red- Traitor
    Orange- Treacherous
    Blue- Committed, Dedicated
    Green- Devoted

    Or something like the above.

The loyalty section wouldn't affect game play much, but rather:
Help team morale. Increase the chances of a star wanting to stay with your club, or wanting to wait for your offer first before choosing another club in free agency. Player may help other's morale by convincing them to stay, giving them pep talks (similar to leadership traits). Makes them want to sign long-term contracts. Make their morale drop when they are scratched because they feel 'betrayed' if they are loyal. Makes their captaincy give them boosts in both morale and skills. Would help with teams (especially in the lower leagues) to get promoted with players able to compete one division above, and create an overall better challenge, especially for teams in the relegation playoff and such. Et cetera.
You could have a cornerstone like Doan, Modano, Sakic, Yzerman, Lidstrom, or Brodeur for a decade before they regress and go to a lower league/worse team.
Or you could have a journeyman like Jagr, Sillinger, Nolan, Gilmour, Roenick, or Pronger for one season before they move to another club in a similar division.

I've only played this game for a few weeks now but I think this would be a great addition to the game. What do you guys think?

(Correct me if this already exists, I'm new and haven't had time to look at the change log)

    Welcome, IneffableLeafs!

While GPHM lacks the visual bells and whistles of NHL 16, I find GPHM to be much more in depth.  Both games are good though!  I enjoy the community of GPHM, other human managers are much more intuitive than AI.

Hi Game Plan Hockey Managers, I manage the Montmorency Vortex in the IHL. I live in Toronto and am a Leafs fan. From how much I've played so far, this game looks much better than NHL 16's GM mode. I found the game through gmgames.org.
