I am curious about traits as well, but part of me also likes the mystery and having to figure it out.  I'm torn 50/50 on whether or not I'd like Anders to tell us what the hell is going on but on second thought, I'm leaning towards the mystery/having to figure it out.

From personal experience, below are my thoughts on each trait.  Some might agree, some might disagree, but it is what I have seen with my team.

EGO - haven't noticed much in terms of in game results for specific players, but Ego affects Teamwork as a whole.  My team performs MUCH better when my Teamwork bar is green (and Teamwork/Confidence is more important than Winner Instinct - at least for my team, maybe not for others).

DIRTY - I prefer Tough/Agitator players, but that's partly because of my preference in real life (I love players like Wayne Simmonds, Lucic, Gudas, Marchand, etc).  I have noticed that my Tough players perform better, but also take more penalties, so it's a double-edged sword - but that could all depend on your tactics as well.  On the flip side, taking more penalties cost me a few games this year, but I'll take my chances.

LEADERSHIP - I don't care about this at all, other than picking captains.

BIG GAMES - I have noticed a "slight" upgrade in performance from Determined to Nervous players.  i.e. Assuming the players are similar, I would probably take an 80 OVR Determined player over an 81 OVR Nervous players, but maybe not an 82 OVR Nervous player.  I'd rather have the skill when it is multiple notches higher.  Big Games is more noticeable for team's Winner Instinct... but I still haven't figured out when Winner Instinct is that important.

AMBITION - Here is where I may disagree with most.  Two of my players who improve the most are Lazy - more-so than my Ambitious and Enthusiastic players.  So I am either getting extremely lucky with my Lazy players, or completely screwed with my Ambitious players.  Right now I don't value this trait at all, other than the thought that it might change in a future release.

First one I said I think they are fine. That is my current opinion on the matter. Second I said they may (not they are but they may) be having less of an impact than intended. That isn't my opinion and rather is me saying that my opinion may be wrong on the matter. I didn't contradict myself however it appears that I didn't make what I said totally clear either. Sorry for the confusion.

Sports management games where you have no direct control of the players is all numbers run thus in a loose sense it is all RNG. That is what I meant by that. Yes tactics have a major say as does talent but even those have numbers behind them determining things. RNG impact in sports management games can vary wildly. From seemingly completely random (bad RNG impact on game) to ones that are actually rather predictable and are believable.

As for the rest I would be disappointed too in your position. You had the better team and lost. It is really disappointing when that happens. As for your struggles it is more the fact that the talent gap between your team and most of the other playoff capable teams isn't as big as it used to be just last year. As a result the games are going to be closer than your used to. It isn't that your team struggled, ok it did offensively more than it should have but the bigger, more relevant picture is you don't have that comfort margin that you had even just last year.

I agree - this is a great idea and awesome thread concept. Also nice to see one of my guys snuck in there from the SHL.  I know Anders was trying to figure out what playoffs looked like in the future, this may be a good solution for those not participating in the playoffs...I like electing a limited amount of players to go play for an alternate All Star team of sorts. This wouldn't give managers a ton of interaction as they wouldn't be managing it but it would be something to monitor and would be better than nothing. It would be fun to have its own interactive message area where managers can also comment and remark. Great ideas everyone!

Love it!  Maybe a 16-team single elimination tournament that runs simultaneously with the playoffs.  NT managers are limited to choosing players who are NOT playing in their team's playoffs.  Or the other option is to run it during "Silly Season" and all players are eligible.

Checking through the top players, the following 16 countries could field teams.
Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech Rep, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Latvia, Belarus (OK, that's 17...)

I'm liking this more and more. Can we somehow convince Anders to include this into the game? NTs would be playing some games independently, 1 per week, or only before/after regular season as some World Cup/Championship. It would be interesting to have this also with injury risk and experience added to players. Each NT should have manager, elected from the managers in the world, I guess. And the manager will make the selection.

    I love this post!

Speaking of names being mixed up, have you noticed some Italian players in GPHM have Spanish sounding names?  Laurent Diego Alves, for example.  For roleplaying purposes, I pretend the player was born in Italy to an Italian mother and Spanish father.

Ok, I was quite surprised that I can make a decent team from even small country like Czech Republic.

But to compete with Canada or USA, I guess Europe need to merge some teams... I can work with Slovakia for example and called it Czechoslovakia. I just hope no Slovaks play Biscuit, they would hate me... maybe

I guess you can see why I would merge the two - Slovakia does not have enough centers, Czech Republic has only few forwards and basically nothing for LW, separately they both suck at D, Slovakia has really bad goal-tending etc.
Together this might be team that can play even matches with USA, but no one can match the defense of Canada, which is unreal.

    Hi everyone,

I thought it would be cool to create national teams. I started off with Canada and USA as they have the biggest pool of players to select from. Please note that this is just a shortlist I created and what I thought are the best OVR players in Biscuit. I changed some centers to forward as they would be better in that position ofcourse.

Please feel free to change or discuss the teams. And if you want to create one of your own or from another country, that would be nice as well. So I always selected 6 centers, 10 forwards, 8 defenders and 3 goalies.

The past few weeks I have made a numerous releases to the UAT, since there have been mostly bug fixes and behind the scenes improvements I haven't released any info regarding its contents. But in today's release there has been a small UI change of the world info worth mentioning. So here's the complete change log so far.

World info and countdown is now clickable to reveal more detailed info regarding upcoming events When world is simulating (flashing SIMULATING) more info regarding estimated finish is available when clicked More detailed team finances/salary cap info Player development will slow down if assigned to too low affiliate level Player may be unhappy if assigned to affiliate even if on two way contract Improved and more individualistic player regression Fixed bug where team standings could be become unsync Fixed bug where manager name was displayed as Computer on team history Fixed bug where salary cap wasn't updated correctly when trading for affiliate assigned players Fixed bug where goalie stats wasn't correctly updated when assigned to affiliate Fixed bug where injured players still could be auto assigned to lineup in games Fixed bug where players could play games for more than one team at once Fixed bug where player stats could not be sorted on BKS (Blocked shots) Fixed bug where a player wasn't rewarded a league achievement if released before season end  Fixed small typo Note. This is not the complete list for the upcoming v1.3.2. There's still a few more things planned. I'm aiming for a release to the official game worlds in early October.

    Hi,

I didn't check if this has already been reported but in GW Biscuit there are some players that have played 176 games in AAHL. This seems like a bug, since this is a new league from this season.

    Screenshot attached.

    Thanks.

Are any teams actually getting any streaks (besides cold) this season?  I'm wondering if it is because GHL teams, with only a couple exceptions on both ends, are fairly equal.  I also feel like no matter what I do at this point, I'm going to get the same results.

That's really great to see, thanks for the effort! I guess this explains some of the weird outcomes of the games when you need to travel across the continent in less than 24 hours. Would make anyone tired!
