    Background:

Eric (current commish) stepped up when the old commish just couldn't run the league anymore due to job and getting burnt out on ootp.
We lost gms before we were able to convince him he needed help.

Eric took over and we got stable again but need new gms to fill the void.

we started to have gms run a second team opposite of their current team league as a kind of caretaker.

We have three teams which such a caretaker and they are Mariners, Yankees and Braves.

We did lost a few Gms in the switch to OOTP 15 but thought the switch was necessary.

The league was once one of the top leagues in OOTP and we want to bring it back to that .

But we need you to help bring this league back to glory.

I am excited to announce a new game in development by World's End Software: Dynasty Football! This game is in the mold of classic general manager sims from the 1990s. I, Eric Kneipfer, am it's creator. I have been working on Dynasty Football for over 7 years as a hobby, and now have decided to stick my head out of my man cave and start creating some buzz around the game. I know there is a market for this type of football sim, and I'm hoping to tap into it and finish my dream using kickstarter as a funding source. Here is our Kickstarter page:

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1085006236/dynasty-football

Check out this featured article/interview on DF from Operation Sports:

    http://www.operationsports.com/features/1896/dynasty-football-qa-with-creator-eric-kneipfer/

And here is our website:  www.worldsendsoftware.com

Here are the features of Dynasty Football

*Take control over a football franchise and run every aspect of it's operation. Customize your league with 8, 16,24, or 32 teams in a variety of divisional setups and playoff formats. Edit players' names and attribute scores, set up the league's financials as you see fit, create your own team names and import your own team logos.

*No more text summaries of plays; instead watch the action on the screen play out with physics based gameplay. Accurate physics equations are part of the game's engine and produce realistic results.

*Make your own plays for offense, defense, and all special teams. Create run, pass, draw, play action, screens, end arounds, and more on offense. For defense instruct players to 1 gap, 2 gap, play a variety of zones, blitz, stunt, and more. Special attention has been given to blocking schemes and man to man coverages allowing for complete customization of complex play dynamics.

    * Run your team how you want to. Draft players (including a league-wide fantasy draft), trade them, train them, cut them, discipline them. Hdere is the traing screen with over 90 different training options. Set up your own schedules or let your coaches do it for you.

    * Immerse yourself in a world of football. Interact with your coaches and give them instructions on what to do that week. each coach has his own skill set and personality that may cause tension during the weekly staff meetings. Say goodbye to the dryness of most general manager/coaching sims. These guys will tell you exactly what they think and waste precious time doing it.

*Set up your gameplan for the week by studying replays of your opponent. Create your play sheet and head into battle:

This is just a small part of what is already finished for this game. Please visit my website for much more info, including more screenshots, and information about our kickstarter campaign:

Hi, everyone. I have left a dynasty of epic proportions on the back burner because my computer cannot handle it or OOTP cannot handle it. Maybe a combination of both. Unfortunately for me, I spent dozens of hours making uniforms, creating histories, and all kinds of things for that world only to have it blow up OOTP 15 for me multiple times. It was a sad day, but I finally decided I would retry once I buy a brand new, state-of-the-art gamer's laptop. That probably won't happen before the summer of '16, so in the meantime, here is a doable dynasty I have created with some of the franchises from my epic world, basically concentrated on North America, with the U.S. and Canada getting first dibs.

    The set up is this:

48 teams divided into four leagues of 12 teams apiece.
The Alpha League represents the top league with more money available in the budget and a higher league reputation (10).
The Beta League as the second best league and a league reputation of 7.
The Gamma League with the third best money and league reputation (4).
The Omega League where only the teams struggling the most play. The league reputation there is 1, and teams who dwell in the OL for FIVE consecutive years without being promoted to the Gamma League are forced to fold their franchise for a city waiting in the wings. Cities awaiting franchises will be revealed later when there are teams in danger of folding.

There are a number of tournaments each year, which helps to make the leagues interesting, and hopefully takes care of the OOTP problem of teams not trying to win. Here are the tournaments:

Tournament of Champions: This is the post-season tournament that is considered to be the true championship tournament. There are ten teams involved: the top four teams of the Alpha League, the top three teams of the Beta League, the top two teams of the Gamma League, and the regular season champion of the Omega League. The first round consists of a three-game series. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship are five-game series.

Spring Bowl: This is the first tournament of the season and takes place in February. As of 2014, the tournament is a 24-team tournament allowing the top six teams of each league (basically allowing teams with winning records in) in a double elimination tournament.

    In-Season Tournaments:

Battle for the Diamond Trophy: The top four teams of the Alpha League take on each other in a championship playoff. The winner proves to be the best of the Alpha League for that season.

Alpha Cup: This is a one-round series between the fifth and sixth place teams of the regular season in the Alpha League.

Honors Cup: This is the battle for survival in the Alpha League as each of the final six teams are on the chopping block to be demoted to the Beta League. The last two teams survive into the next season as well as battle it out in a three-game series and the Honors Cup.

Battle for the Gold Trophy: The top three teams face off in the Beta League championship tournament. The second and third place teams meet in the first round for the right to meet the first place team in the championship series. All three teams are automatically promoted to the Alpha League.

Beta Cup: The fourth through seventh teams meet in a two-round tournament for the right to be the fourth team to be promoted from the Beta League. Winner moves on to the Alpha League; losers remain in the Beta League.

Beta Survivors Cup: The bottom five teams face off in a race for survival. Four teams drop to the Gamma League. One team wins the Beta Survivors Cup to remain in the Beta League for at least another season.

Battle for the Silver Trophy: The top two teams of the Gamma League meet in a seven-game, winner-take-all championship series. Both teams get automatically promoted to the Beta League.

Gamma Cup: The third through sixth place teams meet for the right to claim the Gamma Cup. The two teams that meet in the Gamma Cup Series are promoted to the Beta League.

Gamma Survivors Cup: The final six teams meet in a survival to remain in the Gamma League. Only the winner of the Gamma Survivors Cup remains. All other teams drop to the Omega League where they have no choice but to battle from the basement.

Battle for the Bronze Trophy: Just like the Gamma League, only the top two teams meet up in this seven-game series for the right to claim the Omega League title. Both teams are automatically promoted to the Gamma League.

Omega Cup: The third through tenth seeds meet for the right to move up. The two teams that meet in the final are automatically promoted to the Gamma League, with the winner of that three-game series taking home the Omega Cup. There is also a series for the other two semifinalist teams with the winner of that series being the fifth team promoted to the Gamma League.

    Other Rules:
The regular season is 132 games long with each team facing the other teams in their league 12 times (six home and six away games in four total series).

There is no DH allowed in any of the leagues.

Teams have a 25-man active roster with a 15-man reserve roster.

There is a mixture of real and fictional players.

Hi there! Like some of the other folks in this forum, I was invited over to double post my OOTP dynasty, The Saga of Baseball.

I've been an OOTP'er since Season Ticket Baseball, the retail store version of OOTP 4, hit the shelves way back when. I hope this site will help develop the community for all sports management sims, and hopefully, contribute to improvement in the games themselves.

    Thanks for having me!

Oh, OK. So the nobody team from Big Sky rates more views than the Orange's turmoil over their athletes somehow having more money than they could. Granted I always have thought that, especially with these lucrative TV deals, etc, that varsity sports should be more of a work study situation so this shouldn't be an issue, but whatever.

So I got a lot feedback about what was really not much more than a rant. Someone said that the Eagles shouldn't even waste energy recruiting since they have nothing to entice them. No. That is definitely false. This allows the organisation to do several things. Those high school kids, even if there is no chance that they attend Eastern Washington, have siblings, underclassmen buddies, etc. that they talk to. If you show those seniors that this school would have been a good place to play at, give them a good time during their campus visit, and encourage their interest, this will lay the stage for the next year. What I was saying would be stupid was if they had offered any extracurricular incentive to come to the school. Since that is against NCAA regs, and they have no scholarships to offer, it would be pretty dumb to risk getting caught offering bribes, when there really is no chance that anyone good might come.

One of the school's scouts may of had a connection with Chris Lewis, and therefore, would have a good chance to spread the word about Eastern Washington U on the East coast. If so, who should give a damn? Not I, and certainly not you. In fact, unless Cheny is less than a half-hour's drive from you, you probably shouldn't give one s__t about Eastern Washington basketball. Let Mr. Vandergard do his thing, and lets not turn his bad situation into an even crappier one.

On a happier note, their team does seem to be doing OK right now. After a disastrous pre-conference season, they are faring alright and playing .500 ball. Maybe the Big Sky just sucks (duh.), but the team does seem to be improving just now. That helps Mr Vandergard's job security, while for now, Jim Rome is probably fuming over how he is not hurting it.

    The Origin of Baseball

A number of theories posit that Abner Doubleday was not the true inventor of baseball, but the evidence weighs heavy against them. The vast majority of historical research points to Doubleday inventing the game in May of 1839 in Cooperstown, New York. Doubleday, soon to depart for West Point, set down the official rules to baseball with his boyhood friends. The group had long played stick and ball games, and the future Union general later said that the rules had served as a going away present.

“The games of ball and stick were the predominant pastime of my youth in Cooperstown,” Doubleday recounted, “and, so, that what we had undertook could live on, we set about recording how it was to be played.”

    Abner Doubleday

The Baseball Rules of 1839 bear many differences to the modern game, but the similarities are evident enough to leave little doubt that this was the genesis of the sport. The emphasis was on gentlemanly conduct initially, but winning was still the source of high honor. Amongst the amateur clubs, talent was widely diffused. That didn’t stop participants from establishing the strategic fundamentals of their infant game. The best clubs of this era were those proficient in defense and baserunning. The difficulties of barehanded fielding and rough hewn diamonds meant that fielders who could overcome the natural bias were tough opponents. Speed on the basepaths exploited defensive miscues and led to big innings. Hitting was not yet the toughest task, since batters could call for a specific location, and the pitcher was usually obliged to cooperate. The best hitters, then, were those who could control the area where their ball was to be hit, and with what force.

Doubleday was not to witness the first game of baseball. Several of his companions went to New York City that summer, and finding the ball game scene there thriving, if unorganized, set about establishing a club to promote their social status. They were confident in their new rules, and formed the Alpha Baseball Club of New York, recruiting several local players to expand their ranks. On Saturday, July 6th, they took a ferry across to New Jersey and Elysian Fields, and there met a picked nine of opponents in the first game of baseball ever played.

.... fact checker Mary assures me that Incontangible is now a word. Incontangible is a word. We are going to talk more about the iincontangiblous situation at Eastern Washington University. Before we get into the new allegations, however, and they are mindblowing. The nrew allegations will blow your mind. Before we get into those new allegations however it has come to the attention of this sports commentator that Eastern Washington head coach Kirk Vandergrub has besmeeched my spotless reputation as a sports commentateror by claiming that since i was never a professional athlete that my opinion doesn't matter. Did Chick Hearn ever play in the NBA? No, Chick Hearn did not play in the NBA. I repeat. Kirk Vandermug hates Chick Hearn because he did not play in the NBA. Did Bob Costas ever ski down a mountain in the Olympics? Bob Costas did not ski down a mountain in the Olympics. Coach Kirk Vandermutt hates Bob Costas because he did not ski down a mountain in the Olympics. How low can this guy go? I mean really. Lower he can not go. Did Scooter Rizzuto play professional baseball? Scooter Rizzuto did not play progessional baseball. Check that, Scooter Rizzuto did play professional baseball..thank you, Mary. Kirk Vandergarden hates Scooter Rizzuto because he played professional baseball. Shameful, just shameful. Kirk Vandergrub...hates...Scooter Rizzuto. As bad. check that..monstrous as that is...we haven't even gotten to the new allegations yet. We ... Haven't....gotten to the new allegations yet. Back in a miinute..check that 2 and a half minutes. We are back live....check that. we aren't back yet? {waits another 10 seconds). Jim Rome, we are back live. In our first half hour we revealed how Eastern Washington head coach Kirk Vonnegut hates Scooter Rizzuto, as if he didn't have enough problems already. Kirk Vonnegut..hates...Scooter Rizzuto!

In the next 1/2 hour we'll be talking about the new allegations concerning the beleaguered coach and his program. As has been previously reported. Coach Kiki Vandeweghe of Eastern Washington University had intentionally placed Washington politician Christine Rozniak's bid for a seat in the Washington state assembly by repeatedly making untoward advances to her and forcefully dragging her into his teams locker room in front of reliable witnesses, check that. beer vendors. In s phone conversation I had with Ms. Rozniak this afternoon, she confirmed all allegations..check that...she refused to deny all allegations...check that...she hung up on me...check that, she hung up on Mary. Repeating this breaking news. Christine Rozniak, Washington politician, hates Scooter Rizzuto and his wife, Mary..check that, she hates Scooter Rizzuto, his wife, and Mary, but confirms by not denying the allegations against Eastern Washington head coach Kurt Vandercamp.

I know, I know...you are already reeling. You...are reeling. But wait. Check that...Wait!. We're just getting to the good stuff. We're ...waiting....for the good stuff. A source close to this impramatcal pundit revealed earlier today..that just moments...check that...seconds...before 6'9" forward Chris Lewis , a red chip..check that , blue chip recruit from Portland, Oregon signed his letter of intent with the Maryland Terrapins this fall, young Mr. Lewis recieved a phone call from EWU staff offering him a car and two garages...check that...2 cars and a garage....check that..a car and two cheerleaders. Our indereputable source further revealed that EWU assistant Larry "The Gooch" Montgomery once attended a class and cheated off of during a test none other than Chris Lewis' father's cousin during a business ethics class in junior college. What more proof do you need of tampering?

To recap. Kiki Vandewegh hates Phil Rizzuto but loves to chase and ruin the reputation of female politicians, and hired an assistant specifically because he thought it would give him an inside edge on a blue chip recruit, then authorized "The Gooch" to offer Mr. Lewis 3 cars and the entire cheerleading squad. How much more has to go on in northeastern America before the NCAA checks in? THe NCAA needs to get off their butts and check in.

I'm Jim Rome. In the 2nd hour we'll be talking with Shaquille O'Neil's gynecologist. I'm Jim Rome....Rome is burning.

Jim, I think if we're discussing "Hall of Famer" (what a freakin' farce) Scooter Rizzuto we must add the word "allegedly" to the phrase "played major league baseball."

Bret Vandergard's Voicemail from Swede: "Dammit, Bret, pick up! What the hell is going on? I hired you because I had faith that you could take this program to the next level and all of sudden I'm being inundated with calls from reporters and boosters day and night. None of it makes any sense to me, but what few intelligible syllables I've been able to get out of anyone is that we are about to be investigated by the NCAA? WHAT? What the hell is going on Bret? I hope you don't mind me doing this:
    Blog entry on SportsShadow.com:
I bet most of you, before this year, knew nothing about Eastern Washington basketball. In fact, even if you did, you didn't give two s__ts about the program there. Yet, when Bret 'nobody' Vandergard is hired to run their program, it seemed like everyone was paying attention to their rocky start and to Jim Rome's ramblings. Now the campus has been turned into a national spectacle. One can't help but think that if this boondogle were to suddenly disappear, the team might to just a little bit better. Yes, their group of guys is pretty crappy, and yes he probably is digging it with that politician. But really? A team with exactly ZERO scolarships to offer, trying to entice a big-name forward, who probably wasn't even close to on the Eagles radar (being from the East Coast)? Does that make any sense? I don't see anyone trying to do that, least of all a first year coach who is already in a bit of a hole. Unless Mr Vandergard is stupider than anyone truly thinks, or unless he has absolutely no control over his staff, this didn't happen. And so, the final question arises, why in H___ is Rome trying to sink a team that seems to be doing a good job of that on its own?

Welcome everyone, to my final OOTP Dynasty Report!

Yes, final.  I am suspending all of my prior dynasties permanently and committing to this dynasty and this dynasty alone over the next few versions.  I may play leagues in my off-time, but I am only going to write about this league from here on out.

I realize I simply must commit to one dynasty for the long-term to write about, to achieve the level of immersion I hope to have one day.  Also, I will be dual-posting this over at GM Games, so I really felt the need to have just one report from here on out.

I hope you will follow along with me on the league that I intend to play for the rest of my lifetime.

    Under The Hood

This league will be starting play in 1901, and is structured as a fictional MLB setup.  I will be using MLB retro logos, uniforms and caps put together by the incomparable TxRanger and Knuckler.  I am also using the Modern Names file from QuestDog.  Even though the league is starting in 1901, I am still using the modern names as I am intending on running this league for centuries.  Instead of altering uniforms every few years, I have used legacy franchises and retro logos for those franchises instead of having to make extra alterations.  The only real change I have made from the initial legacy teams is to have the Los Angeles Angels franchise replace the Minnesota Twins franchise.  I wanted to have 2 California teams for each league to keep things even on that front.

Even though we will see an initial start date as 1901, I have actually started the league in 1871 and am currently simming up to 1901 to remove the initial run of fictional players from the player pool.  I am using a small college and high school feeder, so this will also make our entire talent pool organically grown from feeder leagues, or generated via the international system.

The only small suspension in belief I will need from YOU, the reader, is to allow that air travel would be available already for teams to travel back and forth from the West Coast.  To compromise this from a competitive standpoint, I will be kicking up the fatigue for position players one level to simulate poor travel conditions.

Minor leagues will begin to be added around 1935 or so, around the time the farm system really started taking place in the real world.  I'll be starting with 1901 financials with no cash maximum, and altering them as time goes on by watching what the financials do in a shadow league alongside that does an auto-import.  I want the AI teams (and myself) to have the extra resources that the cash provides.

The league will allow free agency and a free market for all players starting after the inaugural draft in 1901, and the league will never experience the horrors of segregation.

The only dynamic league evolution that will be on will be the two options for "More/Less Offense" and "More/Less Pitching" to simulate fluctuations in the league.  Other than that I will be using 2013 statistics/strategies in the old era, and modern ballparks for each franchise.

I will not be playing with the CBA changes for 2012, at least not until 2012.  The designated hitter will not be added until at least 1973, and that is up for debate even then.

The only time I will ever be enabling commissioner mode is to tweak financials in the offseason for the following season, or for future expansions.  I can also enable it in order to get a major league job initially.  Other than that, I am treated the same as any other computer manager.

To this end, I am trying to establish the best GM career I can, and I will also break up my career into generations of 30 years in order to compete with myself.  My characters will start at 35 years of age with a mandatory retirement after their age-65 season, unless the last season was a championship, in which case I am allowed to continue playing seasons until I do not win a title to finish my career, and then I must retire.

If I am fired and the minor leagues are available, I must attempt to manage back into the majors through the minor leagues or retire that character.

The Hall of Fame will open in 1936, and all forum members will have a ballot.

Drug suspensions will be present for the entire dynasty and will be handled like MLB handles them.  80 game first offense, a full season on the second, and a lifetime ban for the third strike.  Any positive test permanently disqualifies a player from the Hall of Fame, and from postseason play and any award presented during the season of the positive test.  I may enable commissioner mode to edit anything necessary in this regard.

I "play out" all games and control baserunning and substitution decisions only... so except for stretching hits and personnel decisions, my field manager is in charge of all the strategy so they will be very important.

Real life stuff: Tom Winsett played seven years in the major leagues for three teams. He was also a highly-touted minor league star of whom much was expected in the majors.

Johnny Allen was working as a bellboy in a hotel when he was discovered by New York Yankees scout Paul Krichell. He reached the majors with the Yankees in 1932 and went 17-4 that year, leading the American League with an .810 winning percentage.

    MLB Modified

I am doing a MLB replay with some modifications. I am using OOTP15.
There was no organized baseball before 1901.     10 teams in each league (AL and NL).     Two divisions in each league; complete Minor League system.     West coast baseball is alive and well!!     Negro League players, top quality Minor League players (ie. Pacific Coast League) and Japanese     players are included.     Players start with no history.     Inaugural draft in 1901, with yearly amateur drafts after that.     Players do not retire according to history, and will not miss seasons according to history. The 20 teams:

    American League
    East

        Washington Senators
        New York Yankees
        Cleveland Indians
        Boston Red Sox
        Baltimore Orioles

    West

        Minneapolis Millers (Twins 1969)
        Los Angeles Angels
Kansas City Blues (Athletics in 1965)
        Detroit Tigers
        Chicago White Sox

    National League
    East

        Pittsburgh Pirates
        Philadelphia Phillies
Havana Sugar Kings (New York Mets in 1962)
        Cincinnati Reds
        Chicago Cubs

    West

        St. Louis Cardinals
San Francisco Seals (Giants in 1958)
Hollywood Stars (Los Angeles Dodgers in 1958)
Atlanta Crackers (Houston Colt .45s in 1962)
        Milwaukee Brewers (Braves in 1953)

I just finished the 1933 season.  I have a link to the OOTP website if anyone wants to read the whole dynasty from 1901-1933.
