It is a sad day for all of the hockey community in Biscuit. At the age of 40 - rated 95 overall - Artem Bublik has announced his retirement. He has arguably been the best goalie in the world, having a save percentage of .90 or better every single season since the world started. Bublik broke in to the league at the age of 26 during season 1. He was criticized due to his small size, but right from the start he showed the doubters that his size was actually part of what made him so great. His athleticism was out of this world and his reflexes were some of the best we've seen, even during his old days. He might have been bit of a lone wolf, but aren't all goalies a little twisted, he was still loved by his team mates who will be sad to see him go.

Here are some stats from his career:

    Golden Cup Victories: 5
Regular season best save percentage: 5
    Best Goals Against: 6
    Most Shutouts: 6

*These stats don't include season one.

Here are his stats from during his time in Biscuit:

Although some say his age began to show during this last season and he couldn't play more than 1 game in a row, he is still going to be missed by the fans of Breakouts, and for sure the rest of the hockey community here in Biscuit. When asked about his retirement plans he told us he was going back to Ukraine and start his own goalie camp there, who knows if we'll see more Ukrainian superstars in the future!

Thank you Artem Bublik and may the pucks be ever in your glove!

His overall did not drop, but his endurance did drop almost 20 overall during the season and he got to blue fit after one game. I think it makes sense he wanted to retire in his prime.

I like this route and actually proposed it way back in the beta days, but for some reason the common consensus was against it. I feel like it would add another level of realism in the game if players acted like they do in the real life (he's getting that much so should I -attitude).

Some players are just greedy, which is good!  But now, most seem too cheap for their own good.  The whole point of contract negotiations is for a player reaching their peak, either in skill or ego, is they SHOULD ask for more.  I'm not sure how the engine works or if it is just based on individual player's requests.  It'd be cool if I offered a 90ovr player $3M a year that suddenly all the other 90ovr players start thinking, hmmm, maybe I should be getting that too, etc.  That is probably more difficult than coding individual players and likely why we have the current situation, but now it is too easy to keep an All-Star level team in GHL and then back stock players in the AAHL that should be GHL starters or too expensive and in the SHL as a Star.  I'd be all for a 10-20% cap reduction in the GHL.

I beg to differ! The match between Breakouts and Grizzlies could seal the results for both teams. If the Breakouts win, they won't get relegated automatically and Grizzlies wont be able to make it in to the playoffs no matter how the last game of the season goes.

The more exciting part is Musketeers and Leopards being tied on points in SHL.... yet again near the end of the season.  Before this last round we had the same 4 teams to play as well.  For those who don't know our history 2 seasons ago we went up to SHL together tied on points and him winning the league by GD.... last season we tied again with Leopards getting home ice advantage for our playoff series by goal differential then winning the series.  I am looking to get ahead of him this season!

Just 4 games and 12 points to go.  The top 4 teams are now a lock with Protons, Pegasus, Rebels, and Vandals.  How they shake up is anyone's guess the way they have been shuffling the top two spots this past week.  Although a Vandals loss (vs Breakouts) and Protons win (vs Indians) would make it virtually impossible for Vandals to claim the #1 spot.

A Marauders win tonight against the Miners will essentially lock in their playoff berth.

As usual, 8th place will likely be decided by the last game of the season with 7th-10th all within 4 points still.

Miners upset victory over Rebels last night in a SO moved them up to 12th, ahead of the going backwards Elite who are in 13th due to goals differential.

Speaking of relegation, an Elite win (vs Pegasus) AND a Breakouts loss (vs Vandals) would essentially mean Breakouts could finish no higher than 14th.  But a win by the Breakouts would all but ensure that the Tomahawks (vs Grizzlies) will be back in the SHL next season.

    Matchups of the Night:
Breakouts at Vandals due to the impact on so many teams
But keep an eye on the scores for Volcano at Minutemen and Wolf Pack at Sabercats since both these matches may add some clarity on which teams will be sitting on their thumbs by the end of the weekend.

Just noticed that those of us that have been in since the beginning and/or have a lot of playoff games are surpassing 1,000 games played! Hard to believe but shows the staying power of this game since each match is no more than once a day!?!? What have I been doing with my life?!?! Haha.

Saw this really clearly last season as I got a great start. That was a large contributor to me making it into the playoffs eventually. Let's see how this season goes!

After 7 missed seasons we are finally back at the poffs! It's just a shame we are facing Grizzlies and we are 0-1-0-3 against them this seasons ... Not getting my hopes up yet

The Breakouts are for the first time in franchise history officially in the GHL playoffs! After my last post the team decided to drop the ball big time in the next 3 games losing all of them in regulation. Last game of the season and we really needed a W, against the tough Vandals. Great effort from my top 4 defenders and we managed to beat the 3rd place Vandals 7-4.

Management had set the goal for the season to stay in the GHL, trading away all of the draft picks for this years draft and it really seems to have paid off. Exceeding all expectations we're fighting for the ultimate price. Now the real struggle begins though as we have to face the league leading Mines Pegasus, team we only managed to beat once during regular season. Let's see what the young group is made of and best of luck to all teams in the playoffs - in every level of the world!

Congrats to everyone making the playoffs/promoting in Biscuit. For all the other teams, there is always next season.

Well done to Breakouts for giving me the biggest home loss of the season. My team had an off day but Breakouts played it perfectly.

With an assist by Elite who beat Wolf Pack, knocking them out of the 8th and final spot.  Elite is also back in the GHL playoffs for the first time in three seasons after barely surviving relegation last season!!!  Hope I can follow up on your stellar work against the Vandals, my first round opponent and always tough playoff team!?!

In other SHL news, the Leopards and Musketeers finished with the same point total and will face off in the first round of the playoffs as the #4 and #5 seeds.  We split the season series 2-2.  The crazy fact is that both teams promoted from BHL last season where they finished with the same exact point total there, too.  What are the chances?

Good luck, Exxeo.  Thought for sure you were going to dig your way out of having to play to stay.  Your team was on quite the tear the last 20 or so games of the season.
