I started looking into team/city locations out of curiosity.  Being a visual guy who digs graphics, I decided to pull a map together.  Below is a map of all GHL teams.    If I get more free time I may do SHL/BHL.  Enjoy.

To combat some Monday boredom, I went ahead and calculated some average overall stats from GHL teams. Overall doesn't of course paint the full picture of a player's capabilities, and thus is only a vague approximation of what a team can do, but it's the only easily available number for comparison.

Team overalls here are comprised of the average of a team's best 18 skaters (12 centers/forwards, 6 defenders) and the starting goalie. OFF/DEF come from the same players, but are simply rounded up/down to the closest full number for clarity. SG is simply the assumed starting goalie (best overall). Calculations made on day 5 of S10.

Here are the numbers - teams are in order starting from best OVR.

    1.  West Chicago Protons (GM: Richard Feynman - bouncer)
    OFF: 89 DEF: 91 SG: 95 OVR: 89,5

    2.  Deadwood Vandals (GM: Kim Vandaele - koekefix)
    OFF: 87 DEF: 89 SG: 96 OVR: 88,4

    3.  Harrisonville Sabercats (GM: Hurja Herra)
    OFF: 88 DEF: 89 SG: 88 OVR: 87,6

    4.  Rome Trojans (GM: Yann Rock)
    OFF: 87 DEF: 88 SG: 91 OVR: 87,5

    5.  Cedar Rapids Minutemen (GM: Richard Armour)
    OFF: 86 DEF: 88 SG: 93 OVR: 87,1

    6.  Eldred Elite (GM: Steven Bennett)
    OFF: 86 DEF: 89 SG: 93 OVR: 87,0

    7.  Canmore Grizzlies (GM: Matt Muffett - themattinthehat)
    OFF: 86 DEF: 87 SG: 91 OVR: 86,9

    8.  Moapa Valley Gothic Knights (GM: David Chaw - FTW)
    OFF: 87 DEF: 87 SG: 90 OVR: 86,9

    9.  Richford Rebels (GM: Jusu Manager)
    OFF: 86 DEF: 89 SG: 89 OVR: 86,9

    10. St.Thomas Stray Cats (GM: Erzac Ray - Erzac)
    OFF: 87 DEF: 87 SG: 90 OVR: 86,8

    11. Portland Oilers (GM: Xavier Zhou - xZhou)
    OFF: 86 DEF: 88 SG: 91 OVR: 86,6

    12. York Wolf Pack (GM: Jiri Heikkala)

    Hi everyone,

This topic is created to talk about season 9 in GW Biscuit. Post your experiences, predictions, and everything you want to share about this season.

After 2 days in GHL there are 2 teams unbeaten: Scandinavia Skyhawks and Moapa Valley Gothic Knights. CPU team Collegeville Rhinos is currently in 3rd place with 1W and 1OTW. Will the Rhinos stay in the GHL?

Today is the 3rd game of the season and there are some very interesting games coming up. I'm looking forward to these games:

    Minutemen - Trojans
    Grizzlies - Protons
    Volcano - Rhinos

Minutemen, Trojans, Grizzlies and Protons are all top teams that have been in the playoffs almost every year now. Volcano is currently in a 2 game losing streak and needs those points at home against CPU team Rhinos. To be continued!

The draft aspect of this game is very agitating, for me at least.

I had the 33rd overall pick in the draft acquired from winning the BHL title and the prospects I wanted, went wayyy too high in the draft.

Prospect #1 has phenomenal growth, and finished ranked 35th, a good range for a possible pick. This player goes 13th, skipping 22 players in rank.

Prospect #2 has a fantastic overall, and would make for a perfect SHL backup goalie, though the growth was low. He is ranked 49th, so I'm like, for sure I'm getting this guy if I don't get prospect #1. He goes 14th, skipping 35 prospects in rank.

    So what I'm suggesting is:

Hide all prospect overalls, ratings, and growth; but leave their stats, meaning goals assists, etc. As well as their prospect rankings, obviously.

This will do many things for GPHM:

    1. Reduce the amount of late round gems to a reasonable level, such as 3-5 per draft.

    2. It will help teams develop into solid teams that can actually go into the GHL and not get relegated first season, because from what it seems like, in Game World Fishbowl at least, most of the managers have only been in the GHL since they started playing, and none have really remained that started in one of the lower leagues. Further, I'll give credit that they all have very strong cores, but they are also essentially reducing the entire world to a 8 team show. These teams are so good and have been around for 3+ seasons (I've played 3 seasons in Fishbowl) that I have memorized all those names. So essentially, hiding prospect ratings could allow for better competition. When I was in the BHL, I'll be honest, I looked for decent prospects to poach that were actually promising, I only found one, and it was on a team that was relegated from the SHL to the IHL in 2 seasons.

    3. It will reduce non GHL manager's frustration (like mine) that I can't even build a team through the draft because the high growth and high overall players are gone.

    4. It will force teams to scout and draft at their own level. Ex. SHL teams will focus on the rounds they are drafting, where they have the highest chance of landing their pick. Not where GHL or BHL teams are drafting.

    5. It will provide realism. In real life, no GM can put ratings on a player, they roughly judge how good THEY think the player would be. Ex. Columbus clearly thought Pierre-Luc Dubois was better than Jesse Puljujarvi, but many other teams felt the Finnish right winger was the 3rd best prospect (See 2016 NHL Draft).

    6. It would introduce a whole new feature and selling point into the game. The draft class would no longer be obvious to look at and see who's good. Using the draft class, teams would be able to create their own draft classes from research and scouting. Good scouts would benefit more than poor scouts, just by looking at stats.

    7. It may prevent cheating. From my experience, 90 percent of human to computer trades involve a computer prospect or picks. If prospects have all their juicy information hidden (growth and attributes), teams will be more reluctant to acquire computer picks as they may not scout the right players for the pick to work. Human teams will say: "Okay, I'm going to scout players between the ranks of x and y, if I find a prospect that's good that I can't get, I will attempt to acquire a pick." Or, "I don't see any prospects of value, I'm going to try to deal away my picks," instead of,
"Oh, prospect 1 is 75 rated and is heroic, and prospect 2 is 68 rated but grew 4 rating this season, I need computer picks!" or "I've got the 28th overall pick, wow, the 50th overall prospect grew from 63 to 69 this season, steal!"

So overall, sorry if I rambled, but this topic really annoys me, and I wanted to get my opinion out. Keep in mind that I'm not the most experienced manager and I've never managed a team at GHL level.

    What do you guys think?

I've been thinking recently when trying to put together some trades, it would be great to be able to see a trade history with the team your making an offer to, maybe displaying what trades you have offered them in the past and if it was accepted/rejected. I've found myself occasionally offering a trade that I've previously offered before

Also, if players on your trade block match the transfer needs of another team. Would it be a good idea to have these teams displayed somewhere as 'trade partners'?

Makes it much easier then going to each team trying to find a match for a player you are looking to move

Is adding more statistics to the game in the pipeline for improvements? I believe we have a good set of base stats available, but it's rather hard to fully analyze a players performance. For example, if I want to know if a player played well defensively all I can go off of is +/- and taking a shot in the dark at guessing what the performance number could mean. A good starting point would be adding a stat like corsi (shots for minus shots against while player is on the ice). Managers would get a good indication of a players puck possession.
Anyways just me nit picking, keep up the good work Anders.

What would people think to a cup competition for each world that takes place during the season?

Maybe something similar to the FA Cup in English soccer where all teams are involved but the top teams come in at a later round to give the lower league teams a chance to progress. I realise on paper the GHL teams would have a huge advantage but maybe ambitious players from lower league teams who play well in big games should get an extra boost when playing the big clubs?

Just thinking it's something extra to compete for?

    Hey Everyone!

Been playing since back in the Prototype days with Yucca Vikings/Grizzlies and now Canmore Grizzlies since Canadian cities were added (although I'm a Brit Canmore, AB is one of my favourite places)

Started off game world Biscuit in the BHL and managed to pick up a good crop of young players from FA, most of those players have seen me through getting promoted back to back seasons to the GHL.

I would have been happy with a mid table GHL finish in the first season there, but after a couple of good trades we quickly found ourselves pushing for the top of the table. Again I was happy to ride this out and not sacrifice any of my young players in bad trades for a quick win and we ended up finishing 3rd just a few points behind the leaders. Then came the playoffs and we somehow rallied all the way to winning the Golden Cup!

Pretty much unchanged for Season 4 other than a couple of depth free agent signings so I'm hoping for a good year :-)

Good luck to everyone this season!

Really like the idea of a trade block! how about a trade block section in Transfers where you can set your teams needs?, maybe your looking for an offensive defenceman? this would help other teams in putting together a trade that your looking to make

Will traded players keep their current salary even if they have come from a higher league?

    Hey,

I'm now into my second season with Game Plan Hockey Manager, really enjoying playing so far! I actually really like the fact that all the players/teams are made up as it forces you to look deeper into the stats and decide how a player fits into your team, rather than relying on the fact that a player is good in real life so therefore must be good in the game.

Anyway, just thought I would share a few ideas I had for improvements:

Minor Injuries - Players should be able to pickup minor injuries which don't stop them playing, but reduce their effectiveness. Maybe a major injury becomes a minor injury for a couple of weeks before a player returns, allowing you to risk them in the lineup or they become injured further?

Pull the goalie - There should be an option in tactics to pull your goalie in the final minute of the game, perhaps you could set this to 'never/if down by one goal/if down by two goals'?

Outcome of fights -  We're notified when a player takes a penalty for fighting, but does anyone actually win the fight? is there a positive/negative
effect on the team. If so, could we set if our team should fight only if needed or go looking to fight and intimidate the other team

Per game tactics - I thought it would be good if you could set additional tactics that apply to only the next match. For example, if you feel the other
team has a particular line/player that is dangerous, you could focus on shutting down that line/player. This could work both ways as focusing too much on a particular player could open up space for others.

Also it would be great to be able to agitate a particular player, maybe to put a star player off his game?, this could be countered by adding a tough
player to the line to provide protection if the start player is 'gentle'

    Keep up the great work!
