  1. This means if you let him go or trade him you will not make the playoffs and the team that ends up with him will win it all.
  2. Don’t be so sure. I’ve made a few changes for the playoffs that I should have done during the season. While the injury will hurt my team should be playing a bit better than it was.
  3. So the 21st overall team finished 10th overall in the GHL with the 14th offense, 10th defense, 5th powerplay, and 9th penalty kill. That is what I call a successful season.
  4. To rush to the GHL. It is a similar story when teams trade their picks lower in the leagues. They are in a rush to get to the next league up and throw their picks away for relatively poor value in return.
  5. Considering that they have gotten about half, if not more, of their points by getting involved in that line I would think the other way around. It is just the way I have the D playing is rather passively offensively. I'm not peek. Historically my teams are atrocious against the offensive juggernauts of the GHL.
  6. When compared to the talent on other teams 1st lines? Yes, honestly. There are some 1st lines out there where the overall of the line is above 90. The overall of my line is 88ish. Also, D don't steal points from forwards. Having D that could contribute offensively would only boost my teams offensive output making more chaces for those players to get more points. Currently, they are doing it pretty much themselves, which isn't a particularly good thing.
  7. So, I noticed that my 1st line C got the first start of the week and then saw that my two wingers were top of the league in scoring. Ummm... How is my first line the highest-scoring line in the GHL?
  8. I fear that the East may be too good for the Stray Cats to claw back from a slow start. 13 games left and 13 points behind.
  9. On the main team in the SHL? No. So long as it doesn't say that they feel too good for the competition you are fine. If anything it is a great chance to get 2 top 4 GHL picks in a 3 season span that will ideally be a strong foundation that will keep your team in the GHL. On that note, this is why I don't get SHL teams trading their 1st round pick to GHL teams if they are on the cusp of getting to the GHL. Unless the GHL team is offering a minimum of 5 players over 85 overall the value just isn't there to be had. You would be significantly better off getting that top 4 pick yourself no matter if you go back down or not. Also if you go back down there is an increased chance of going back up and getting another top 4 pick the next year. If you are going to trade a 1st round pick trade the one you get when you are in the GHL. Edit: On this note, an SHL team offered a draft pick for my goalie Calcutt on my GHL team. I sent them a message asking if they were sure and they never got back to me so I never accepted it. The trade just wasn't fair for them in terms of what they could get with that pick if they promoted relative to what they got.
  10. That is great. Hopefully, the rest of the year goes well for you.
  11. Seeing as how nobody has seemingly figured that out I would try to ignore it so long as those lines aren't getting beat regularly while on the ice. That said while your power forwards might be doing fine that doesn't mean that having a grinder or two way with them wouldn't improve the play of the line. It would be worth potentially trying for a few games sometime when it wouldn't hurt to experiment a little.
  12. 5 games in and my 4th line is the highest scoring line on my team and one of the best in the league. 0G-8A, 4-3 and 5-2 in 10:30 of ice time. That is an insane points per 60.
  13. Broad as in there are many directions in which scouting can go. Scouting for lines being one of them. Scouting to draft being another. What you asked is more than specific enough. In terms of best fit line-wise are you asking player types on what kind of line or what kind of player attributes do you want to try to combine?
  14. Ask what you want to know as scouting can quickly get rather broad. I assume you mean scouting younger players specifically though?
  15. It is fine. Leaving it up for Anders to see is a great idea anyways as it lets him see the issue.
  16. I think the most likely answer is that the game has yet to fully switch you to the GHL yet. I would suggest trying again in a few hours.
  17. The only possible disagreement I can offer up is in regards to development. While I fully agree that randomness in development is good it cannot be fully random or it becomes a complete crapshoot in terms of development. That would only lead to confusing frustration. What I mean by this in regards to this game is that players shouldn't gain 3 overall one year and then not gain in overall at all the next 2+. There should be an observable slow down to development as it shouldn't appear to stop dead. There isn't enough data yet to really say exactly what is happening but the general trend appears to be that players are hitting a soft cap abruptly at around 21 and from there they crawl in terms of growth with some exceptions. Slowing around 21 is fine and understandable. Going from rapid development abruptly to a slow crawl is a bit off considering that skill growth is largely seen in the light of as you get better it becomes harder to improve further. That said ideally each player would be slightly different from the next with different skill caps based upon their hidden talent ratings. This, in combination with the player's ambition, should be the largest determining factors in terms of when development slows with that being loosely based upon age. That said there very well may be late bloomers in the system that don't start really developing again until 24 for example. Again we don't know because of lack of time with the current development system.
  18. In other words more steady development over an extended time over the current burst development, talking in general, with ideally the same end results. As for young players even at the top just up and retiring it still happens. It is just rarer. Paul Ranger as a real-life NHL example. He attempted a comeback which ultimately lead to nothing I grant but it is evidence that it does happen. Albeit as I said it is rather rare. I understand the points against it but it isn't completely unprecedented. I think the best way to take this is to try to keep an eye on how young they are consistently retiring. The frequency is the key to note here.
  19. Players actually do. There is a given history of it however it isn't that common in the top levels. That is where I likely think the issue you all are having is. In this game lets us consider the SHL and BHL the ranks of the best leagues around the world that aren't the NHL for simplicity sake and a relatively wider range than just one league. Under that is say college level and below. Now think about how few of those players actually continue their sports careers. Keep this stat in mind and specifically the fact that it is NFL rather than NHL and the fact that the NFL has significantly more players per team than the NHL does. Of all of the college athletes playing (again NFL) about 10% make a professional career out of it. That means about 90% of players of that sport are retiring before they even reach 25 years of age. That said yes it is a different sport I admit so it isn't fully translatable however the point I am trying to make still stands. As a result at the lower levels, this actually makes sense. There are players leaving sports at a young age in real life for various reasons and a handful of them even have the ability, and show the promise of potentially making it professionally somewhere however for whatever reason they decide against it. My bigger concern is a lack of continued development past roughly 20-21 for a majority of players. That said we don't know of late bloomers either as that may still be a thing where players get a 2nds burst of development.
  20. I am sorry for responding so late as this has likely been answered for you but I am putting this here for the record. With no clause the player ends up with a lower league contract. With a 1 way but no promotion clause the player ends up with a lower league contract. With a promotional clause they end up with a salary in the new league equivalent to what they had in the lower league. You can buy out any contract without penalty if they are a lower league contrct. If you are promoting and then offer a contract the player will be negotiating a contract with you in regards to the league you are promoting to. This I cannot say for certain as I have honestly not paid much attention to, however just by looks it looks like the players contract is included in the calculations even though they will not be there because they will be removed from the team due to the one way clause. It also looks like it is calculated at what the contract would be worth at that level.
  21. Ego - This can be looked at as the general disposition that a player has. It mainly impacts teamwork and how much the team likes to play with each other. You want to have a good mix of the best but don't get too concerned about having a few of the worse ones on your roster. It goes through these ranks from lowest to highest. Arrogant, cocky, responsible, friendly, compassionate. Dirty - This is how dirty a player plays the game. The dirtier a player is willing to play the more they push the boundaries of the rules to gain an advantage. That also mean they are more likely to take penalties, especially majors that aren't fighting majors. It goes through these ranks from lowest to highest. Tough, agitator, respectful, gentle. Leadership - This is a take on how much of a leader presence the player can have in the locker room. This is mostly relevant for whom you want to make captains for your team. This goes through these ranks from lowest to highest. Anonymus, modest, respected, role model, motivator, commander, true leader Big Games - This is a showing of how the player is likely to respond in big moments. The lower the ranking the more likely they are to make mistakes in big moments. It goes through these ranks from lowest to highest. Nervous, anxious, stable, determined, heroic. Ambition - This is a showing of how much interest the player has in the sport and how much they care about how good they are. This is mostly going to be used in conjunction with development to determine how good the player might get. This may also have an impact on how long of a career a player may have. This goes through these ranks from lowest to highest. Lazy, half-hearted, enthusiastic, purposeful, ambitious. Hidden profile: There is one hidden profile that used to be known. Talent. It was hidden for obvious reason. Everyone would go after the players with the highest ranking in this category without touching any of the others if at all possible. It made it too easy to go after the players that were most likely to be the best in the game. The rankings might not be fully accurate but they are to the best of my knowledge. Also, I don't think I did the best job of describing the different profile points so do not hesitate to point out what is missing or may be worth including.
  22. I'll hit this and a few others this week. I'm going to start with this one though.

  24. You want trash talk? Well ok. Here is likely the most that you will get from me. As of the current moment of typing this the... stops to check... 10th ranked team in the East is in 2nd place. I even managed to beat Bouncer's mighty Hawks 1-0. That might be the 20th time I have ever beat him. That is with over 25 seasons of playing against him. Yet I love playing against his teams.
