  1. I have to update this. It's not enough of an advantage to be on the powerplay. I have seen many many times, one team thoroughly dominate another 5 on 5, then as soon as they get the man advantage the weak opponent suddenly gets some scoring chances. There are just far too many short handed scoring chances in general. Team A ousthoots Team B 14 to 6 in the first period. Their roster is just clearly superior and they are dominating. Early in the 2nd period Team B takes a 5 minute major. During those 5 minutes the shots on goal are 2 apiece. This should happen once in a blue moon, not all the time. It happens all the time. Give the powerplay more advantage, reduce the short handed chances. This is easily the most glaring issue with the game engine.
  2. I know that this is a little late but that's what happens when you go deep into the playoffs, proving my theory that it's way better to finish 10th than it is to lose in the playoffs - just a flaw in the structure of the game - but anywehs. 3. Thanks for the info on WI. As for the dirty trait, of course you have much more experience than I, but I have seen nothing to indicate that agitators get under the skin of anyone. Dirty as far as I can tell is a number between 40 and 99 and if it's below 55 it'll show red and say Agitator. I have seen no evidence that the Agitator tag gives an extra special power to actually agitate. I could be wrong but I have seen no evidence. Also, my leading hitter this season by a mile is respectful and even when the team is playing Fair, he can still sometimes get double-digits in hits. It's simply a matter that he has high phys and spirit yet plays respectfully. The higher the 'dirty' number is the more your player is able to 'keep his elbows down' etc. And for the record, my leading hitter with over 300 hits (top 20 in league) has ELEVEN penalty minutes. As far as I can tell, 2 equal players with equal phys and spirit, one Gentle and one Agitator, will play equally as physical, but the Agitator will just put you short-handed more. Again, you've played a lot more than me, so maybe I'm wrong - or at least off a bit, but that's what I've seen so far.
  4. IS there a way that we could have a spoiler on our game results so that we can watch the play-by-play without knowing the score beforehand? It's fun to read the play-by-play not knowing the outcome. Perhaps it could be an account setting or a team setting? You could put a score spoiler on just your team's games or just your league's games or all games, or none. Right now what I do is open the game preview page in a new tab before the game sims, then scroll it down so that the top banner is not visible. Then after the game sims I hold my palm up over the screen so that I can only see the strip at the top and refresh. If the play-by-play button is there I click it and my previous scroll down makes the final score not visible so I can read the game without knowing the outcome beforehand.

    Uniforms

I love the uniform maker but I think it could have a little more to it. Here are a few things: 1 - Home and Away jerseys. Everyone should have 2 jerseys with base color significantly different (one red one white, or one blue one yellow, etc). One jersey would be set as home jersey or main jersey and this one would show on the popup player cards. The team could switch the home and away jersey whenever they like during the season and the team would always wear the main jersey unless it was playing on the road against a team of same or similar base color then it would switch to second jersey. THEN ... on the game page in addition to the team logos, the teams' appropriate home and away jerseys would show at the top. This would make the games themselves more immersive and more of a memorable event. With just the logos, the logo colors aren't customizable (like a brown cat face even if the team colors are blue and orange). With the jerseys on the game page it would add to the experience and give more memorable personality to each team. 2 - Put a few more options for stripes and bands. RIght now, none of the belly bands touch. What if I don't want my main jersey color to show between the stripes? What if I want the whole bottom hem to be one color? The same goes for the sleeve cuffs. And there are many other options with thicker or thinner bands, touching or not touching, sleeve strips etc. The interface is already in place and quite cool, but with a little extra it could ridiculous amazing cool. 3 - A couple more text fonts. Not a hundred. Maybe 3 or 4 more. 4 - Only allow uniform, logo, town and name editable in the off season. From Day 1 until your first preseason friendly you can change all that. Editing team info at any other time will be a pending change that takes effect on Day 1. There's just so many managers coming and going and changing all the teams all the time it makes the leagues look bush, like old WHA teams folding moving constantly. Plus it makes the league difficult to follow. Wasn't there a green team in that conference with a swordsman on the front that had that hot goalie? Where did it go and where did that black team covered in fire come from? It's just really bush. The uniform inteface is great. Make it amazing.

    Off Season

A few points about the off season: 1 - It should be longer. I know that this is unpopular because most guys want to play play play play all the time and can't stand having no stats to look at for even one single day, but really that is because you are all spazzes and need to take a pill. The off season is when your team is shaped and formed for the next campaign. It's very important time and shouldn't be rushed. Use the extra time to scout guys if you can't sit still. Otherwise, relax for a couple of days. The season is long and if you want to win it requires work pretty much every day, so take a couple of days off. Turn your computer off, go to the bar and meet a girl or something. 2 - Transfer window should be open to everyone at the same time. It's an advantage to start early and who starts earlier is quite arbitrary. The team that finishes first or second starts their off season earlier than the teams 3 through 6, but then also the team that is 10th starts earlier than 3 through 6 AND 11th and 12th, quite f'd up. The way it is now creates a disadvantage to being in the playoffs and that shouldn't happen. It's better to finish 10th than it is to finish 6th and get drilled by the 3rd place team in the opening round. Just make it fair for everyone and open everyone up on the same day. If no one wants to wait for GHL to finish up, then expand the playoff in lower leagues too so more teams play a little longer. Or like I said above, if you're out of the playoffs, go for a bike ride with your girlfriend ... oh wait, we're all computer stat nerds with no girlfriends. 3 - Drafts should probably happen before free agency opens, or at least earlier in the window - but AFTER playoffs. It's a disadvantage to have to draft while you're in a playoff run. That's kinda not fair. This isn't a huge deal since the vast majority of drafted players don't step into the lineup to make an impact right away, but the proper off season model allows teams to draft the best players available and THEN fill holes in the depth chart with FAs and trades. If the draft is late in the off season then teams go after FAs and then try to fill the holes with draft picks and end up reaching past better players and wasting their picks.
  7. The first question that I have about big game trait is: How does the software determine how big a particular game is? In everything that I've read here so far (and I've read a lot) no one even mentions this let alone has any theories. Playoff game? Sure. 2 teams within 3 pts in the standings in the same conference? Then every game in the first 2 or 3 days of the season would be huge. Is a game simply considered 'Big' or 'not Big', or can games be kinda big or very big or in between? Before anyone can talk about big game trait, this question must be discussed. I don't like the agitators although I'm okay with tough. I do prefer the Respectful and Gentle players, however if a stud player comes along and is an agitator, I won't automatically say no. Don't get me wrong, I like physical guys, but the trait really only seems to relate to penalties and fighting. If you want a physical team, just sign guys with high phys and spirit, even if they're Respectful or Gentle. They will take less penalties - a lot less. Dirty play seems to raise it's head during adversity (like your team suddenly falls behind 2-0). If your team is good (wins a lot, whoops weak teams etc) even the dirty players won't play dirty. They only play dirty when they get desperate - or you instruct them to with the fairplay setting. So if you have a strong roster and a dominant team, you won't have to worry about the dirty penalties unless you instruct the team to play tough or dirty. However, if you have a middle team or weak team and you need to raise your physical game by playing tough or dirty, your agitators will keep you shorthanded all night. So if you have too many Toughs and Agitators, it can restrict your ability to play physical as they may force you to play normal and fair a lot.

  9. If you're short-handed you should be allowed to ice the puck, just like in the real world.
  10. We should still be able to edit our lineups even if invalid. Only the invalid changes should reject. If I change my lineup and my icetimes and only the icetimes are invalid, the lineup should still change. If the icetimes are valid and one of the lines is invalid then all the changes should still be accepted except for the one or two players who are invalid. The software can just set those players to 'no player'. Sometimes you will have sudden injuries and it will be impossible to field a valid lineup. You should still be able to shuffle guys around and leave a 'no player' somewhere that an auto-sign can fill. You should also always be able to change your icetimes no matter what.
  11. I've noticed this all season long. Whenever one team ices the puck, the player who iced it is from the opposite team. As far as I can tell this is happening in all leagues and to all teams. I'm playing on the Buzzer server. (Regina) 00:30 BlockedShot Marcus Söderberg blocked shot from Yan Pashkevich (Regina) 01:00 Icing Icing called on Nathaniel Bernatchez (<- Cedars player??) (Regina) 01:30 Faceoff Jan Taxner won faceoff against Timothe Montesano in defensive zone (Regina) 08:30 Hit Dale Montejano credited with hit on Mark Soltis in neutral zone (Cedars) 08:30 Icing Icing called on Dale Montejano (<- Regina player??) (Regina) 09:00 Faceoff Marcus Söderberg won faceoff against Ernie East in offensive zone (Cedars) 17:30 Hit Maverick St-Pierre-Dessein credited with hit on Elias Degermark in defensive zone (Cedars) 17:30 Icing Icing called on Elias Degermark (<- Regina player??) (Regina) 18:00 Faceoff Philemon Greaves won faceoff against Ezekiel Normand in offensive zone In this last one you can see that Cedars were in the defensive zone and that the following faceoff was in Cedars' zone so Cedars iced the puck yet a Regina player was named. (Cedars) 19:00 Faceoff Mark Soltis won faceoff against Philemon Greaves in neutral zone (Cedars) 19:00 Icing Icing called on Amir Osterberg (<- Regina player??) (Regina) 19:30 Faceoff Philemon Greaves won faceoff against Ezekiel Normand in offensive zone In all examples the following faceoff was in the defensive zone of the TEAM called for icing, not the player, so I believe that the bug is in the player selection code of the icing sub. thanks, Monty
  12. We should be able to scout them just like regular tactics. The assistant's pre-game report should mention something about the opponent's special teams tactics. Unless perhaps the opponent had no power plays or no penalties to kill over the past couple of games. Also, special teams tactics affect the game sim too much. One team can dominate the other at even strength, then go on the power play and suddenly get outshot or even scored on just because the tactical matchup favors the short handed team, and since ST tactics can't be scouted, the tactical matchup is basically random. One more thing, I'm not sure what it's like up in GHL but down here in Copper there are WAY too many short handed goals. Perhaps that is due to such blind ST tactics and the weight of such tactics in the software math, or maybe there's more to it. What do you all say?
  13. Not sure where to post this since I can't seem to find a help section. Every time that I try to log in, it rejects my password and I have to reset it. The first time I thought maybe I had messed something up. The second time then I knew that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Now it has been 4 times in 2 days. I hate complaining but it;s getting quite annoying. Even if I tick off the remember me box, if I'm away for a few hours (like going to sleep or to work) it logs me out and I have to request a pw reset to log back in. Can anyone help me with this?
  14. Monty here, and the Regina Tornado are open for trades. Just promoted to Bronze, so if you're in Iron you'll have to call before Day 108 and if you're in Silver you'll have to wait until Day 1. ;) I love draft picks and prospects but I will consider anyone who can play a lot in Bronze and I might be on the lookout for a depth goalie. 15. I have a real problem here. I have 3 goalies and suddenly 2 of them are hurt. I put 1 on injured reserve so that I have room to bring in an emergency goalie, but it's after trade deadline and waivers takes 2 days. I have no backup goalie. Now I know that the software will sign a guy for me at the last minute but in the meantime I can't edit my lineup, like I can't even change the ice times because I don't have 2 goalies to dress 20 players. It won't let me put a defenseman as a backup goalie so can't dress 20 guys and since I can't dress 20 guys it rejects *ALL* of my edits. I have a big game tomorrow morning and this is kinda not fair. My team is Regina Tornado, Buzzer, Copper.
  16. Thanks to everyone for wheeling and dealing. Sorta closed for now but never completely closed. ;)
  17. Still trying to move Pouastouk. May be willing to throw in a little extra to make it happen. Make me an offer. ;)
  18. Harjula and Leiva are gone but still some deals to be had.
  19. I think it's pretty good the way it is but you do raise a valid point. It would be nice to have a couple more guys on the farm or a couple of empty spots just in case you make a trade or pick up a waiver player. Not a major increase but 32 would be a nice number.
  20. As a new player I was surprised that putting draft picks on the trade block was not an option, especially with the level of detail throughout the game. I am also for adding this feature. I also have the idea that one could ask for specific transfer needs like goalie with at least 80 endurance, or forward with at least 80 shooting, or defenseman under 50k salary, etc. I thought that I'd just throw that idea out there.
  21. Hey this is Monty. Regina Tornado just might have the deal for you! I'm open to offers. I'll say that I do prefer a more well-rounded player and I'll definitely take draft picks. I'm probably leaning towards forwards but I will at least listen to anything.
